The chicken had nice flavor (not spicy), fresh creamy guac, fresh romaine crunch, tasty vegan chipotle crema, and bright tomatillo salsa verde. The bolilo bread was nice a toasted too. The side of cilantro lime rice helped absorb the extra liquid from the tinga, chipotle crema, and salsa verde. And to round out my meal, I ordered their seasonal watermelon aguas frescas. My friend ordered the taco salad, and she really loved the variety of flavors and textures. Sweet pops of flavor from the grilled corn and red onion, savory crunch from the tajin tortilla strips, meatiness from the achito chicken, and herbaceous from the chopped cilantro and spicy cilantro lime. The space is bigger that I thought was a second dining area in the back of the restaurant. Beautiful decorated tile, lots of live and decorative succulents, fun neon sign art, and ample seating. Omg, the food here is so good, well, at least the nacho kit (which isn't even on the menu!). While I was waiting, I saw a huge plate of nachos being served and immediately knew I needed that. When I got to the register, I asked about it and basically said, "I want that!" Giving this location a huge shout out for their service! Today our company chose Tocaya for our corporate lunch and we had a rather large delivery order. Once arrived I noticed several items absent resulting in one of our employees missing their entire lunch. However I was able to quickly call up the location, indicate which menu items were missing and had them delivered in record time! I was thoroughly impressed. I can not thank the employees who handled this enough. Many of our team had never had Tocaya before and it was an overall hit! My order was the Salmon Cesar Salad and it was absolutely perfect. Only thing different I would do next time is add extra dressing and Guac. My only recommendation would be for them to use the personalized label other restaurants use for when their partner with Relish. It puts each individual's initial on the order and makes it easier to separate/quality check. This was the first location we used from relish that didn't use the labels. I loved the sauces and seasonings and how both of these are default vegan. The service was very friendly and helpful and the food came out promptly. This is my second time trying Tocaya & both times it did not disappoint. Their Guacamole and chips is soo good I could eat this alone. Their Birria tacos are flavorful and tasty. The tortilla soup which I regularly get was literally half raw red onions cut in big pieces it also tasted like they had added cornstarch to the soup today because it was super gloppy there is normally black beans and a little bit of neither of there today. Had I actually been in the restaurant I would've returned it. but I was already back at my office. A restaurant needs to have consistency. If I order something one day it needs to be the same. The next time I order it not a completely different dish that's half red onion. I've only ordered delivery from Uber Eats so I can't speak on the service or ambiance, but I've always been happy with what I've ordered! Are they the most authentic tacos in LA? Probably not, but they're really yummy regardless. I especially like the baja fish tacos. The mahi mahi is always nicely fried and crispy even after traveling some ways to get to me. And the chipotle sauce adds a nice sweetness. Another favorite of mine are the chicken tinga tacos. The lime pepita mole is delicious and the fried onions on top add a nice crisp. I've also gotten the house quesadilla, and while the achiote chicken and mushrooms were nice and the chipotle crema made for a tasty dipping sauce, I thought the quesadilla could be a little bit cheesier. My only complaint is the portion size for the guac is almost laughably small. The one time I ordered it, I ended up with way more plantain chips than I could ever use to scoop up the puny little glob of guac I received, which is a shame because I liked the guac and thought the pomegranate and pepita seeds were a nice touch! I'll definitely keep ordering from Tocaya but I'll probably stick with their tacos since that's what they seem to do best! read more

For months now, we have been frequenting Tocaya at Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood, CA. Each time we go on a Tuesday I am amazed that the ridiculous posted menu has not changed - even though I have pointed out the problem months ago. Just in case you are unaware, please take a look at the menu attached. This menu has changed slightly a couple of time over the past months but this math equation is still there. Let me put like I'm talking to a third grader taking a math test: It's Taco Tuesday & Sally wants to get three tacos. She looks at the menu and is overjoyed to see there is a "3-taco Sampler" for $11.95. Even though she would rather have a "Salmon Taco" instead of a "Tinga Taco," she figures the three tacos must be a better deal. What would be the best deal for Sally to get what she wants? A.) The Sampler B.) Three of the same tacos on the sampler but purchased Individually. C.) Three individual tacos swapping out the "Tinga" - Asada, Baja, & Salmon. D.) Go to Taco Bell. If Sally wants to save money, the answer is "B." Asada $4, Baja $4, Tinga $2 = $10.00 $1.95 less than the "Sampler" price for the same food! If Sally wants to get her "Salmon Taco" instead of the "Tinga," then Asada+Baja+Tinga = $12. Just 5 cents more than the "Sampler." I don't want to think about how long it was either in the fridge and reheated or what but I also got a burrito with the fattiest bits of pork in it, gross, I'm spitting out every meat bite to remove excess fatty bits.
