This was our first time here. I was hungry but just didn't know what to get. They had a nice selection of food. I had the clam chowder which was from the coast. So it was good. My husband had the chili size. Not so impressed by the chili. Needs a little more spice to it and his dish needed to be covered by chili. It was around noon so it wasn't too busy. You could stand here literally forever to wait to be seated. I felt bad for some of the elderly patrons. The ones with kids also. This place could be so nice if everyone would step up their game. The tables are not bussed, everything is messy, the servers can barely seem to move, and have no sense of serving or urgency in their manner. Trash on the floor, etc. It wasn't even that busy at all. 3rd time being here, last 2 times were horrible. Today I asked for a burger, plain nothing on it, just meat and bun. It came with cheese on top of the burger and I sent it back. When I received it a second time, I bite into it and look under the burger and see that there was still some cheese left because it appears that most of it was wiped off. They tried to flip over the meat patty and make it seem like they fixed my meal. Good thing that I am not allergic to cheese or anything like that. I did not get to enjoy my food with my family. What a great gem on the east side of Bakersfield. Wife and I had breakfast, she a delightful shrimp and avocado omelet and I had the chicken fried steak, melt in my mouth goodness. Server was excellent, and attentive. The atmosphere is wide open, plenty of room to keep social distance or to enjoy a large family meal. We will be back to try the pizza. read more

It is my understanding that Mother's Day (2017) this restaurant was open for its fourth day. We've eaten there twice during this time, both times the food took "longer than I expected" but (In my opinion) was well worth the wait. We started with an appetizer (spinach avocado dip) which has an excellent taste in is served with homemade tortilla chips. The tortilla chips were still warm from the oven and had great flavor. For the main course, We have tried the Bubba's Bacon Cheeseburger, the crispy chicken salad, two different types of pizzas, and we have tried their Philly cheesesteak sandwich. All of the food tasted great. The pizzas had an ample amount of toppings and excellent flavor. The bacon cheeseburger is a large Patty (maybe 1/3 or 1/2 pound) with bacon and cheddar cheese and a lot of toppings, the Philly cheese steak was excellent quality. This is only day four of the restaurant being open, and in my opinion, ignore the bad reviews that talk about long wait times, and give them a real chance. I am happy we have a new restaurant in East Bakersfield and want to give them a chance to work out the 'kinks' of getting food out to the customers on time. Mother's Day is a difficult day to demand fast service for any new restaurant. Regarding the comment on the restrooms, the women's restroom is still waiting for dividers between the toilet stalls. There is a staff member outside of the women's restroom to make the women aware of this fact. We did not see this as discourteous in anyway, in fact, my wife appreciated being made aware of this before she went into use the restroom. The stall partitions are due to arrive within the next day or so, and will be installed (probably) as soon as they arrive. Again, they have not even held a grand opening yet, so they are still working out the 'kinks'. I have eaten at many places in the Bakersfield area, and I WILL return to Tony's Firehouse Grill. Great tasting food, great atmosphere, and courteous staff that are all making a diligent effort. read more

We ordered our drinks and that took a while. The pizza was just a regular pizza with a few toppings but had no taste. I just remembered eating pizza that had Avery strong yeast taste. The best thing about Tony's is the Pizza, by far the best in Bakersfield. The second is the restaurant itself, very clean and great service, although they can get busy on Friday's and Saturday's. My only complaint would be the price per topping (should not pay for a whole topping when I only want half). and the amount of pizza sauce (I like to taste my sauce) so I ask for extra. read more

We were super excited about going to the new Tony's. We went for breakfast on a Sunday morning at 10. After sitting for 30 minutes, my daughter needed to use the restroom. We went into a beautifully renovated bathroom with 3 toliets but NO STALLS! I had to wait by the door to make sure no one came in. 2 other groups came in 30 minutes after our group and were served food within 15 minutes. They were finished eating before we left. We left at 11:15 with NO FOOD and only 1 refill on our 3 waters and 1 coffee. The staff was not prepared to answer our questions and had nothing to offer. I sure hope they can get this fixed. We went down the way to El Patron and were served within 15 minutes of arriving, now having to eat lunch instead of breakfast. El Patron...thanks for a lovely Mother's Day meal! read more

I visit from las Vegas and we eat here every time we've come down here since it opened. So far we have loved almost every thing we have ordered. The only thing we didn't like was the spinach dip. Wow! Let me start by saying VERY DISSAPOINTING!!! Love Tony's Pizza on Coffee Rd. So I figured it's my sons 18th bday we would try it out. First off we were seated and the noise lever in there is awful! Love the look of place though. Our waiter talked so lightly that we couldn't hear him. Secondly you can't order beer by the pitcher???? What the heck! Pizza was great though! Jose G was our waiter and let me say not good! He never removed the pizza trays or plates from the table for the hour and half. Then we had cake plates we had to move all of the trash from the pizza onto another table so we could have cake. Never asking if we needed more soft drinks. Took a very long time to get our ticket! Then a while to get him to get it back to me to use my credit card. While looking for him all you see is the staff sitting at a table together talking and not tending to customers and the place was still busy. The manager , I think her name is Tess and some other dark haired girl that worked there treated customers extremely rude. They told these kids to leave but threatened to call the cops on them because they couldn't pay for their pizza because their mom hadn't arrived yet. I think it was the girls birthday too and the way the employees handled the situation was very poorly. Overall very poor experience and customer service needs to be executed in a better fashion. Went during lunch thinking we would find lunch specials or a pizza lunch buffet but didn't. They don't offer individual size pizzas, so I ended up ordering a pulled pork sandwich with fries. First time here. I like the atmosphere and staff is nice. The boyfriend enjoyed his Philly cheese steak and his appetizer. However, I am a vegan and this place is not vegan or vegetarian friendly. I ordered Gabbys spaghetti and let me explain that underneath where it says "Gabbys spaghetti" it says add meat balls for I think $2 so I was under the assumption that since it's saying to "add" meatballs the sauce was meat free....well it wasn't....ugh. It looked so good too. So obvi it's my bad because I didn't actually ask if the sauce was marinara but I'm still annoyed. They didn't make me pay for it so that's in their favor but I can't really eat anything here because they don't care or cater to people who don't eat meat....you should at least have a veggie burger on your menu. The fish tacos were border line yuk, are fried, and covered in a pile of cheap veggies and some type of yuk dressing. Tasted like they were fried in the same oil as the shrimp. Liked the beans. The house salad veggies were good, but once again plagued by so-so bottled? dressing. The burger is Ok, fat, but lacks a decent sized bun. The onion rings, like everything were OK. I suppose this place is a good option for those who live near by. The two times we've been there have been just Ok. You know, like Taco Bell, but four times the costs. Because what we've tried is just OK, I can't recommend this place. We will not return. Oh yeah, Anita's, who was in this place before, was much better and they died. (Kern River Canyon Highway location) Finally, somebody has opened a restaurant in this building that seems to be working! We have been to Tonys firehouse a number of times and have been pleased with the service and the food. The best part for me is that they have a GREAT gluten-free pizza! It's not cheap, but it's worth it. We have also ordered online several times, and while the process is a little cumbersome (get a better software architect!), it's great that all the toppings can be customized! Opening night and the service was fast and the food was great. I was expecting the great food because, come on, it's Tony's after all. My Hubby had a burger, which was juicy and lettuce wrapped. My daughter had the pizza which was great as always. I had the Philly cheese steak which had a cheesy sauce and chopped bell peppers, very tender. We ordered hot wings and fried green beans as appetizers and we were not disappointed.T he atmosphere is fun and open with the large place separated into two dinning areas with an arcade off of the bar side of the restaurant. The bar is not serving alcohol yet but the bar is expect to be flowing by the end of the month, fingers crossed, because a good pizza needs a good beer mate.
