Always good and accommodating even on busy nights. We are SoCal residents and have been coming to mammoth since childhood. The owner is so nice and welcoming which is rare for mammoth these days. Toomey's Driving down the 395 from South Lake Tahoe we decided to take a slight detour and drive into Mammoth Lakes for a lunch stop. Never having been to Mammoth Lakes we consulted the Travel apps and Toomey's was highly rated so that was our place to stop. We pulled up and got a parking spot right in front. The chef behind the counter was very friendly in answering our questions and we selected the "Famous Burger" and two orders of the Caesar salad with grilled steak. This visit being the prime Covid we sat outside at a nice table with a nice center fire to keep us warm. Waiting for our lunch my son and I toured the Baseball collection in the various rooms that composed Toomey's. Man is the owner a huge baseball fan. We enjoyed looking at his extensive memorabilia and there was so many neat items. We got our food and with the first bite of my hamburger I knew why the ratings were so high. It was many the best burger I have had in a long time. Cooked perfectly with a nice pink center and so flavorful. Topped with the grilled onions, tomato, cheese on a really fresh bun it was perfect. For some reason the chef did not tell us that they were not doing Romaine for the Caesar but more of a field greens mix. It was good but would have liked to know about the switch. Non the less it was so good. I tasted the dressing, excellent and the grilled skirt steak of melt in your mouth tender and the marinate was so good. This is a hit!! We are not skiers but next time up in the area this is a sure repeat visit. read more

Service was great! But the food was truly awful and fairly expensive. Filet mignon ($52) was sort of a pot roast smothered in gravy! The chicken wings were mostly meatless and tough when there was meat. They looked like they had been warmed up after having been soaked in a horrid hot sauce. I had the crab cakes ($28). Their texture was like ground up dried bread. I couldn't taste any crab. A sauce was swirled over them and it was not truly unpleasant, but it was tasteless. Took home a barely passable Caesar salad but with a generous and good piece of salmon. Bill was $135.31 before a tip. The friendly and hard working waitress deserved and got a nice tip. read more

Been Mammoth so many times and never came in. Thought it was just a pizza joint or a cafeteria. But I was wrong. The bartending staff and wait staff is amazing. Food is delicious. and seriously, these bartenders are mixologists. So good. Highly recommend. read more

This is a hard place to review. Staff were very friendly. Prices were high. I got taquitos and did not like my food. It wasn't seasoned enough. However, the cliental may not like spice, so it could have been prepared for a more bland pallet. read more

Thank God for Toomey's, they really made our Mammoth vacay easy. We had several meals from them, all of them really good. We were a party of 5 and all of us loved it. We had a couple of dogs with us and we just sat outside and enjoyed our meals. I can't recommend just one thing. Just pick and trust its going to be good. read more

The service is great. The manager took the time to stop by our table. Our waitress was wonderful and very attentive. The food just isn't as good as we had hoped. WOW!! Had an amazing experience here tonight. Our Sever Dan was extremely kind and knowledgeable and helped up get seated when every other restaurant had hour waits. He recommended some specials and the meatloaf and without a doubt was one of the best meals my family has had. We had some of the best drinks in Mammoth that Dan served as well. Just ok. We decided to dine here because we were meeting a group of 6 and needed a menu with "safe" offerings. Safe meaning that it was American dining... basically meat and potatoes kinda place. We were disappointed that when we were seated there was only one waiter and he was running around taking care of ALL the tables. Shortly after we arrived and ordered, other groups arrived and so it appeared that the kitchen staff was left to deliver the food to the tables. When we asked questions to the staff delivering the food they were unable to answer our questions. They promptly went to locate the one waiter who rushed back to our table to answer out questions. The food was basic. Absolutely nothing special about it. For the price I would have expected better. In general, the food was underwhelming. On a bright note, the beer was ICE COLD... which was a plus plus and kept this review from receiving a one star. read more

Was here yesterday with family. We bring vegetarian has only 3 options in the menu. Ceaser salad, mix spring salad and mac&cheese. We ordered all 3... lol. Food tastes good, service was quick and staff is helpful. 2 star less as the guy attending our table was in some sort of rush and asked if we are done couple of times within 30 mins. Pleasantly surprised. I ordered the filet mignon medium rare. It was cooked to perfection. it was not the thickest Philly mignon I've had, but it was a good-sized 10oz piece and it was ultra tender. Mashed potatoes and grilled brussel sprouts tasted great, but they were a bit cold. Clam chowder appetizer was good. Key lime pie dessert was also good. The service was fantastic. I had the best pork chop for dinner last night! It was juicy and tender and totally delicious!!! We started with lobster taquitos, there were 3 big, fat taquitos and they were super tasty! The accompanying salad was great too, big chunks of juicy mango and so good! My friends had the meatloaf and it was delicious too! Great staff, very attentive. From the outside this place doesn't seem like much but the food is excellent, the service is great, and I didn't have a wait time.

The front desk clerk at the Westin recommended this place as the first restaurant when I asked for a place to eat nearby. I appreciated the recommendation for both for the food and the ambiance. Matt, who is normally the bartender, had stepped up into being a server because the restaurant was short staffed, and was an absolute delight. He made sure to make sure every person wlfelt personally welcomed, asked our name, made mental connections of where we were from. I decided to get seafood jambalaya. I found the cheeky comment intriguing, so I gave it a try. Now, I don't know why anyone would put that soapy weed on top of jambalaya (I'm sure my Louisiana family is groaning at the idea), but after painstakingly removing all of it, it was delish and filling. Filling just like Matt said it would be. Honestly it's more like a ciopiccino. Anyway, after leaving some on my white sweater to go, I bade the restaurant goodbye. read more

This place had a really fun atmosphere. I enjoyed checking out the baseball paraphernalia. It seems like the owner has some friends in high places ;) There was a wide range of options on the menu for all different tastes. Oh, and the portion sizes! That's a detail I especially appreciated about this restaurant -- I ordered the hummus and pita and it was enormous. My boyfriend ordered a burger and he couldn't even finish it at once because it was so huge. Definitely the kind of portions you want if you're coming back or preparing for a day of Mammoth adventure. The only complaint(s) I have is how it might be helpful to make it clearer that their hours are different right now from what's listed on the door-- whether it's due to the pandemic or the winter season or whatever. We showed up for breakfast before hitting the mountain and were disappointed to see it was closed. But it's in a great location near all the action and village gondola. Also, it was kinda pricey -- but like I said -- big portion sizes, and supporting small businesses is important right now, so I didn't mind too much. I'd recommend for those who want hearty food and a relaxed atmosphere in the heart of Mammoth at the village! read more

We had a good lunch of salmon tacos and a split salad. Very good service and she readily provided an extra plate for tacos and split a generous salad for us. Had not been here before though we have visited Mammoth frequently. Nice to add Toomey's as an option. read more

1st time here and very impressed....other than a few things, which could have easily lowered my 5 star review down to a 4 or even 3. So, the ambiance isn't great. It doesn't feel like an upscale restaurant, but it's still comfortable and acceptable. I was pretty shocked when I ordered my usual blue cheese stuffed olive top shelf martini. Our server told me they literally didn't have a martini shaker or any martini glasses - I had never heard this before in any restaurant of this caliber, but she said she'd make due and deliver the best martini she could, which came in a regular rocks glass with the olives floating. And, she did deliver - the martini was quite acceptable, but under normal circumstances, this serving of such a classic drink could have been a review killer. But, the food is what keeps things at a solid 5 star review here. The Ahi tuna appetizer was FANTASTIC! You may think Ahi tuna here or there, is the same as it is anywhere, but that's not true at all. Accompanying the super tender and flavorful Ahi, was a seaweed salad, mango/onion/tomato "salsa", cucumbers, and rice and everything together was up there with the best Ahi I've ever had. The wild bison meatloaf (which now seems to be labeled simply "buffalo meatloaf") was truly a thing of legend. I'm a big meatloaf kind of guy and I make a pretty amazing meatloaf at home. This bison meatloaf goes down as 1 of the 2 very best meatloafs I've ever had the pleasure to put into my mouth, the other being some 20 years ago in Park City at Purple Sage. Served over excellent mashed potatoes, and a side of beautiful whole carrots, topped with the tastiest Demi Glace. OMG! What a treat I will most likely never forget. If they can get the drink menu improved and amp up the ambiance, this would be as good as it gets, but even with its imperfections, Chef Toomey shows off his culinary skills. read more

Nestled in the cute Village at Mammoth plaza facing one of the main streets (Marinet Rd) lies Toomey's. Typical American food are served here and they do not skimp on their portions. Food tastes clean and simple and patio seating is abundant during the COVID pandemic . Buffalo wings: 6 full sized wings (drum stick and wing = 1 full size wing) drenched in what tastes like Frank's red hot sauce but a bit tangier. Carrots and celery are not included but it does come with ranch dressing. Fish and chips: 3 lightly battered thick cut cod strips atop crispy (& lightly battered) "chips." Comes with 2 wedges of lemon and tartar sauce. Batter on fish were thin enough to be crispy and not outshine the savoriness of the fish. We tried both salads (Ceasar & mixed greens) and they were refreshing. Kids burger: meat patty was big enough for an adult and their fries were crispy. They were the same fries as the ones on the fish and chips. Baby back ribs: tender and juicy fall-off-the-bone meat. Comes with a large serving of mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts. read more

Would I come back? Service was terribad... We came in on a Sunday morning with a group of 9 people. We were seated immediately and looked over our menus. Once our server came over, we began to order but she said that only lunch was being served. This was at 11am and lunch is served at 11:30. She gave us more time and did not come back until 15 minutes later. The restaurant was not that busy but it looked like she was more attentive to the other tables. We ended up getting our condiments and water ourselves. Other than the service, the food was pretty good. I ordered the breakfast with eggs, potatoes, toast and sausage. This was a big serving but it cost $14 which was a bit excessive. The coconut mascarpone pancakes were light and fluffy. I enjoyed the coconut flakes inside as well. When it came time to pay, this took another 15 minutes. We asked the bus boy for our bill but I guess he forgot since he was bussing tables. We tried to flag down our server but she never made eye contact at our table. Once we gave her our credit card, she did not come back until a couple minutes later. This place is good but service could be better. I think my group would have been more upset if they charged us gratuity for their service. read more

Honestly, we only went here because it was close to where we had parked - on an open lot at the intersection. I give 5 stars for the friendly & excellent customer service! The employees there were just so pleasant & polite:) Now, here is where I'm a meanie for why it didn't do it for us. It's Mammoth, so it's overpriced, but the quality wasn't really there. Food was meh to bland and they really don't offer that much choices in pastries or breakfast for that matter. And if you're stuck having to eat healthy (as in oats & bran) you're out of luck. Not that I'm nit picky, but I'm old & falling apart and have no choice but to stick to certain foods because of my health, so most of the time I have to opt out of ordering anything. Plus we were about to start our long journey back home, so I didn't want to drink anything, although the coffee smelled good. Came here after another place we were going to was crowded. I walked in with my party of 7 and sat down right away no waiting at all. The food was decent and tasty for what it was. The servers were so awesome. Brought everything we asked for right away and cleared any plate that was empty right away as well. Found Toomy's just below our condo rental at the Village complex the week before thanksgiving. We walked into the original restaurant around 10 am to find every table filled. Cashier/waiter working let us know there was additional seating two doors down. The additional dining room is large and equipped with its own bar. Smelled a little musty in there, but not unbearable. Overall, I found Toomy's to be a good stop during our Mammoth trip. They have a really great selection of menu items and fast, friendly service. I ordered the two eggs scrambled with potatoes, bacon, and a side order of coconut pancakes. The potatoes, toast, and bacon were all good. I took one star off for the eggs. No bueno. I can't exactly put my finger on why, they just tasted funny. Too heavy, not fluffy, and maybe old eggs or cooking oil. The best thing I tasted at Toomy's was their Marscopone, Coconut Pancake! Normally, I don't even like pancakes at all ( or any sweet, syrupy, breakfast item) but these were definitely an exception. So So good! I just wish they would have left the coconut syrup on the side for me to add myself, rather than doing it for me. Also, the mascarpone should have been taken out of the fridge at least 10 minutes before serving to bring it to room temp for easier spreading. All in all the flavor and texture of this pancake was delicious. read more
