I've been here a few times ordering the chicken Pad Thai the 1st time and the Pad Kra Prow chicken (medium spicy) the 2nd time with Curry Puffs as an appetizer. I really enjoyed both dishes normally like spicy food, but the Pad Kra Prow dish packed a lot more heat than I'm used to but I don't eat Thai food that often so I may not be used to Thai spices. Anyway, the staff is very friendly and helpful. Not a very big place so if you have a large group you might want to call ahead and make a reservation. I will be back to try the other amazing looking dishes soon. read more

Host and waitress was super friendly and efficient. They were able to accommodate us without a reservation, but if at all possible make one. It gets busy quick and it is a smaller restaurant. This place has change so much from what Topaz originally was--Very Disappointing! I ordered the Drunken noodles with shrimp. You get charged extra for shrimp and all it had was three shrimp- overcooked at that. The noodles where not the normal thick flat noodles, can't even describe them. My friends and I enjoyed the food very much. The restaurant was full and the tables crammed against each other. It was annoying to always get up when someone leaves and enters. It's a good place to go if you're in a rush because turning the tables over is more important to them. Just eat and go. We stopped here for lunch before heading to Rockefeller Plaza. This place is close to parking lots and the ambience is very cozy. It is a small restaurant with nice lighting and decor. The staff here is friendly. We got the tom yum soup shrimps, bbq chicken, drunken noodles, pad thai, pineapple fried rice and pumpkin curry shrimps. All the dishes were tasty, but the drunken noodles and pineapple fried rice were the best dishes. Would definitely recommend this place for fresh & warm Thai food. read more

Topaz has the best thai food in NYC!! Been coming here since I was little and it's always delicious. Sara, the owner, is also the kindest and most welcoming host. My favorites are the Pad Thai, Winter Shrimp, Spring Rolls, and anything with duck. And I always pair their food with their refreshing thai iced tea I've eaten there during covid too - the most beautiful, eye-catching decorations line the outdoor seating area making any meal there special and memorable. Had to find a last minute dinner spot for my cousins, sister, and I and ended up finding this place, which was near where they were hanging out at all day (Moma, Central Park, etc.) while I was at work. The service was pretty quick and the food was decent sized. We didn't have a problem finding seating either, which was a good change compared to a lot of counterparts. We ordered a combo of pad thais, drunken noodles, and massaman curry and was overall impressed with the quality. The pricing also wasn't terrible, though a gratuity of 18% was added to our order (group of 5, which is probably why that was the case too). It ended up being about $18/person incl. a few drinks, so not terrible prices for Manhattan. If you want quick service in a sitdown restaurant, I'd recommend this place. read more

I've been to this restaurant a few years ago and really enjoyed it. We returned on a recent trip and were not as enchanted. We were left to stand in the entrance for some time before being greeted. After finally being seated, we waited for a while before receiving menus. Others seated after us were taken care of before we were. The server was abrupt and not welcoming. My wife inquired about switching out broccoli for carrots in her meal and was initially told that wasn't possible, then being told it would be a $4 upcharge. We've made these kind of substitutions at many restaurants and it's never been a problem. I would understand a charge to add an ingredient but a simple swap of broccoli for carrots should not cost $4. When the food did come, the portions were small despite the prices not being small. (I recognize this is NYC and everything is expensive.) The only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 is that the taste/flavor of the food was decent. With so many choices available in the city, I'll scratch this place off my list of options for my next trip. read more

Thai food is one of my favorite types of food so I was super excited to try out a new place. However, my expectations were quickly met with disappointment. The ambiance was pretty good. It has a dark, intimate vibe to it, which I appreciated for a dinner with friends. We came on a Friday for dinner and were seated immediately. The staff was friendly and attentive, so we never felt neglected. They gave us peanut sauce and some kind of air pop chips (not sure what it was) when we first sat down and our meals didn't take too long to come out. But even with all these good qualities, I was disappointed by the food. I ordered the Bangkok fried rice and asked for it to be very very spicy (I normally order some form of spicy fried rice). The rice was not as spicy as I would have liked and everything tasted undercooked. The rice was harder than it should have been, as was the carrots, and the flavor wasn't fully savory. I tried my friend's pad Thai and felt the same way, but she seemed to enjoy it anyway. The prices weren't too bad, but I've had better Thai food for less money. I rate as 3 stars being average and we go up and down from there based on the whole experience, not just the food. If it were JUST the food - this place would be a 1 star. The place is cute, dimly lit at night, which is when we went. The Christmas decor (I mean, it is December) was a bit much but the space is nice. Small, but nice. They ARE associated with the Topaz Noodle, next door, & I'll write a review for there too. Unfortunately, the food and cost will mirror this review. When we arrived there was a table for two available and I think at least three people asked us how many we were but we were not sat for at least 5min. Not a huge thing but they could have sat us upon the first ask. The table was a typical NYC small 2 top pushed up against a wall with the main walkway to the other side of us. We didn't wait too long for someone to take our order & shortly after a basket of fried shrimp chips was sat on the table with what might have been a peanut sauce. It had a strange flavor so I'm guessing but definitely there was peanut in it. They are listed as Crispy Chips $4 on menu and I didn't see if we were charged for it but assume 1st order is free since we didn't order it. The chips are great, a childhood fav. Try setting one on your tongue. Feels like octopus tentacles are grabbing hold. It's fun. Haha Shortly after our first dish came out. Tom Yom Shrimp Soup $7. It was literally MAYBE 3/4 a cup of the saltiest broth with two shrimp and four mushroom slices. Literally the worst showing of what is one of my most favorite Thai soups! Add insult to injury was the price for the smallest and worst cup of soup ever. Next out was the Chicken Wraps (Larb Gai) $11. It was good, nothing special, but not horrible. There was enough to make 4 salad wraps. The Winter Shrimp $10.95 and Coco Calamari $9.95 came out together. The Winter Shrimp was very tasty. I didn't taste any pork in the shrimp but it was a good snack, excellently cooked. The Coco Calamari I could have passed on. It was more coconut than calamari and I would have liked it crispier. The service, was great. There were many servers coming around making sure out water was full and taking empty plates or asking if they could. Only downfall was that when we were done and with an empty table we had to ask for our check twice. I think the issue I have is that if you are going to have the wording 'authentic' in your restaurant name then you need to make sure that the food you are serving is a fair representation of the culture. I expect to feel like a cute little Thai grandma is making my meal when you throw out words like that and this meal was very much like an American fast food bacterization of Thai food, which was disappointing. Had the prices been less, matching the actual quality of the food, it would have been more bearable but the prices were that of a great Thai meal - which this was not. Will I be back, NO. I will spend my money at a place where I can walk away raving about the magical meal I had. That's what I expect in NYC. #SorryNotSorry read more

Stumbled across this place and I was pleasantly surprised! They had a small wine menu and cute outdoor seating. To start they offered some complimentary rice puffs with peanut sauce. The peanut sauce was delicious and it was a great start to the meal! The pork dumplings were good-the meat was juicy, the dumpling wrapper was nice and thin and the sauce was yummy. The pad Thai was better than I expected. It was perfectly saucy, the chicken was tender and it was flavorful. I'd recommend checking out if you're in the area! read more

Love love love this Thai spot!!! I found it randomly one day on Yelp, searching for a new lunch spot before a show or dinner after a show! The food is just like the name -- authentic & delicious! I've tried a couple of items but all in all my absolute favourites from here include the Pad Thai, the pineapple fried rice & ESPECCCIIIAALLLLLLLYYYYY the Massaman curry. It's absolutely phenomenal and I love it with the tofu and the rice soaks up all the juices! Yum yum yum ! Just wish it had some more veggies in it like the Green Curry does. What can I say.! I'm not remotely impressed. Customer service, completely sucks! Mind you. We were the only two people in this place. Food, Well! look at the picture! Came in w/ my girl. She order pad Thai.! Noodles not cooked enough. She asked extra spice. Well, they didn't put any. She asked for extra hot sauce on the side, never brought it to the table. We waited 30 min. They never brought it.! We are still sitting waiting for the sauce and nothing. I order pad see ew w/ tofu. Tofu was overly cooked, not enough noodles, the only thing that looked good was the broccoli. I only had two bights and couldn't eat the rest. Worst Thai place I ever had.! We did say something about the food and they gave us attitude. ‍ I won't get in to details.! I'm not sure how are they open. Came here with some colleagues to eat something different during the week. If you come a little early before the lunch crowd there are plenty of tables available. We sat down and a basket of shrimp chips with peanut dipping sauce was served. Love shrimp chips! There is a lunch specials menu. We got pineapple fried rice (a little bland as per eater but he likes hot sauce), drunken noodles with chicken and chicken pad thai. The pad Thai was a bit on the sweet side though not bad considering it is a nice sit-down restaurant. If you need anything, the waiters were attentive (hot sauce, chopsticks for my colleague) and my water cup was constantly re-filled. I thought the flavor on this was good and I really liked the texture of the dough. I enjoyed the filling as well but I did find it to be on the skimpy side. And this being the non traditional part, whenever you get this in Thailand, the cucumber salad is served in a cup on the side, it was kinda unusual to see it made as a bed with the puffs on top.
