I use to go here and eat from time to time, but because of what I witnessed today I will NO LONGER be coming here. I came to Eat with my friend and noticed a couple of younger girls come in to eat, from my table I could hear the cashier and her tone of voice was extremely rude to one girl while she wanted to order a rice bowl. After the girl orders, she leaves and comes back. After the girl goes to get her food. The cashier/waitress immediately starts to give her shit about purchasing a coke from the store nearby instead of getting one from there in toshis. What difference does it make? She bought food from YOUR restaurant? I can't believe she had the nerve to even say anything. I should of took both of those girls to Toshios in the southend. By definition, a restaurant should be cooking your food to order, not serving leftovers reheated. I decided to try this place and got chicken breast teryaki to go. I watched the guy behind the counter pull a dry cooked breast out of a food tray, cut it, throw it on rice and put in premade coleslaw I think (without any dressing it seems) and give it to me. Now mind you if the breast was a few minutes old I suppose this is fine. BUT I have spent a lot of years in kitchens etc and I know leftover chicken reused from another day when I see and eat it. It was tough, super dry and not very warm. My guess is that this chicken was left over from a day or more and has been chilled and reheated more than once. Chicken cooks very quickly on a grill and there really is no excuse for this. Food should be made to order or you shouldnt be allowed to be a restaurant. Period. read more

This place gets packed everyday, especially during the lunch hour. I have gone here since it's conveniently located near my place of employment. Just because I go, it does not mean I like their service or their food is that great. I have always put up with it because I'm out of other options. The last time I went will be my absolutely be my last time setting foot in this establishment. I called in to order my lunch special with half rice and more salad. When I came to pick up my food during my 30 minute lunch, I was NOT happy. The lady rung me up but as I opened my food to add hot sauce & dressing, it was NOT what I ordered. I ordered the lunch special to have some variety (gyoza & chicken), but what I got was just all chicken teriyaki. I informed the lady this isn't what I ordered, but she was persistent that WAS what I ordered. I didn't want to waste what's left of my lunch hour to argue with her because it's obvious I didn't know what I ordered, according to her. I KNOW I'm not that crazy, as I came back to work, I double check with my co workers to confirm what they heard. Just as I thought, they heard me order my LUNCH SPECIAL, not chicken teriyaki. Who goes and argue with the customer to tell them, "NO, THIS is what you ordered." seriously? So, instead of apologizing and remake another one, you'll just stand there and tell me I was wrong..... very disappointed. I was able to tolerate it before but after the incident, I will never come back. If you're looking for a good teriyaki fix, go to YUM YUM teriyaki up the street. read more

Toshi's is the closest teriyaki spot to my friend's place so I am a frequent customer. The food is okay, nothing too spectacular. The portions are big. I like the yakisoba a lot because of the sautéed veggies. My only real con about this place is that I wish they had a better dressing for their salad. Also it has a bunch of great lectures from the UW free posted there and I would never have known about them before. They also have a lot of drink options and not just Coke/Pepsi products with bottled water. Although one thing I'd like to see that is at other Teriyaki shops is free for here hot tea and water. For $10, I'd expect a little more than half a dry chicken breast! My SO got the beef/chicken combo, which was equally dry and also small portioned. Pretty damn good here glad the food makes up for how long it takes to get your food. But can't really go wrong with what they serve. I hadn't been here in years and wasn't impressed the last time I went. We decided to stop in for lunch this afternoon and I was very pleasantly surprised. I got the chicken curry, which was amazing and flavorful! Huge portion as well. I could only eat half of my food. My daughter got the chicken teriyaki which was a large portion for a kids size and equally as delicious. The service was great and the food came out quickly. I'll definitely be back soon! read more

Cheap good and fast Toshi's has been around doing teriyaki for a long time. A perfect combo of sweet and savory that hits all the marks. Teriyaki is a classic Seattle fast food. On the west side were the poor/working class folk used to live it was a go to because it was cheap, the portions were generous and it's good any day of the week. My go to is the teriyaki chicken. This is the worst teriyaki I have ever had! First of all the woman that helped me was so rude! When I ordered my food and mentioned that I didn't want any salad and instead have a little extra rice, she snarled and mocked me, turn to the cook behind her and repeated to him what I just said and he gave me a look as if I was a freak. When I got my food I was disappointed to see that they gave me a HUGE mound of rice with very little meat... The meat was dry as hell and didn't taste good. I will NEVER go back again. One of my go to Teriyaki places in Seattle and always a must go-to when in West Seattle! Large portions, good sauce and lightning speed service. It is Teriyaki so not really much to say other than that so just go and you will leave full. read more

I used to like Toshi's as a kid, but now whenever my family breaks out the to-go menu, I cringe. I used to get the Toshi's Special which has teriyaki chicken and tempura. The chicken is alright, though a few times it's been cooked dry. However, the tempura was completely soggy. It could be because we always order it to go and it sat in the styrofoam boxes too long, but we only live five minutes away! The kalbi ribs and chicken katsu are good. I give this place a 2.5. I was really craving one of those salads from Teriyaki place with the creamy white dressing and notice Toshi's in the Westwood Village. They didn't have the salad so I just order the slaw, some rice and kim chee. The kim chee was really good. Just the right amount of spiciness. Enjoyed the slaw but it just didn't hit the spot. Will be back for kim chee though since I never finish a jar and they sell them in 4oz containers here. The service was also super quick and friendly. read more

Ive been coming here for years and usually have a good experience. There was one time when they got our order wrong and sometimes it can be super busy where you aren't able to find an open table but other than that, I love this place. I usually either get the chicken katsu (very good, equal rice/meat ratio), chicken teriyaki (again, very good), or beef yakisoba (good, but they usually put way too many veggies so be sure to ask for light veggies or none at all). For the people that complain about no dressing on their salads, they actually do have dressing you have to put on yourself which I don't think is bad because you're able to put on as little or as much as you want. They also have so many different drinks to choose from, it sometimes gets overwhelming lol read more

Toshi's is a good place for take-out teriyaki. You have the option to dine in, but unless you work nearby and have no options then be my guest. I don't necessarily love the atmosphere nor do I think its the nicest, but again if its the only option, then yay. My boyfriend on the other hand, wow, he loves it. I ordered a curry chicken, and the wait was quite long because they were serving a bunch of customers who had called in orders. I was amazed at the huge portion of (very tasty) steamed rice, and the curry chicken was to die for, and I've been eating curry chicken since John Knicely was in short pants. Ordered the beef teriyaki for takeout. It was ok, very average, hence the 3-star rating. The beef was some sort of brisket style meat, not the cuts of skirt or flank steak I'm used to seeing at other joints. For the price, over $9 for takeout, I was really expecting much more meat. Instead it's jam-packed with rice, with only a thin layer of beef laid on top. Don't think I'd order the same thing again, but I'll have to try their regular or spicy chicken next time and hope it's a larger portion. read more

This place is in sort of a strip mall right off Barton. It's really clean, they have a lot of tables, and a huge selection of bottled drinks for purchase. The prices are standard..about $8-$10 and you get rice and some veggies with your order. The food is really good. The Chicken Katsu and Chicken Teriyaki are both awesome. Get the combo..it's a ton of food for like $9. Something I love about this place is that if you get teriyaki they drizzle some sauce under the rice so its still flavorful and not bland if you run out of chicken before you finish the rice. read more

I usually don't order fried tofu because it's typically chewy (too meaty), which I don't like, but this was a very light fry with a crisp crumb.
