In short, steak was the lone highlight of an overpriced meal. Received bare minimum service as we saw our waitress twice (once to take our order and the other to collect payment). A different waitress came by and slammed a bottle of water on our table - no words, no eye contact, no apology, just kept walking. We could have only hoped to receive the level of service that our waitress delivered to the table behind us. We would've loved to have indulged ourselves with more wine and dessert but our server never gave us the opportunity to do so. All in all, a very disheartening experience given Tupelo was so highly recommended by one of the locals. Walking in, this place had so much potential but our experience fell flat almost from the onset when we were greeted by the hostess and told we could not order a drink at the bar while we waited for our table reservation. Don't judge a book by its cover on the exterior of this place. The dinner was over the top DELICIOUS and our server, Kate made it a great experience! Started with the fried green tomatoes topped with shrimp and a remoulade sauce, lightly breaded and cooked with the perfect amount of crunch. Next was the Cesar salad with house made croutons. The star of the show was the Blackened fresh Halibut served with fingerling potatoes & fresh carrots! The chef cooked it to perfection, moist, tender and every bite was OMGood! We went in to try the meatloaf for my birthday dinner. Upon looking at the menu we decided to try the meatloaf as planned for her and I ordered the lamb chops. This was the first time ever trying lamb chops and I have to say these were cooked perfectly and tasted as good if not better than the best steak I have ever tried. The staff were extremely courteous, attentive, and very knowledgeable. The inside decor is darkened, cozy, somewhat romantic, and comforting at the same time. We were tourists, as much as I hate to admit it, for we had fallen in love with the Glacier Park area from the first time we were there 6 years ago. Good Date Night Location, Good Food, A Bit Spendy But Nice. So this may not be the cheapest spot in town for a meal but it does make nice date night location. The food is good and they have extensive wine and drink menus available. People are dressed formally and also in shorts and T-Shirts so dress code seems marginal... I don't see any way to comment on another person's review but I feel compelled to respond to the review by Bill S. Orlando, FL from 7/19/21 You should ignore what he said because its completely untrue. I was there when he embarrassed his family by trying to use his influence to get the staff to give him a table in spite of the restaurant being completely full. What he means by "terrible customer service" is that they respectfully honored their commitments to all the customers who made reservations days ago, but would not give him special treatment. He's one of those wonderful people who believes his MONEY should take the place of being considerate or showing any class. Both the host and also the manager were QUITE polite when they explained to Bill, in separate conversations, that the restaurant is overworked and understaffed. They cannot dedicate hours to answering endless phone calls long after the reservations and the restaurant voicemail are both completely full. They are having trouble finding enough staff for the kitchen. The Tupelo team works very hard and they're doing the best they can to politely serve all customers - that includes the long term residents as well as the rude, neuvo-riche who feel they should be given privileged treatment due to their wealth. Perhaps Bill should send his kids to work for Tupelo so they can come to understand what hard work, honesty, and integrity are all about. They evidently won't learn it at home. Tupelo is a great restaurant but we can't expect them to serve 150% or 250% of their capacity. read more

Last taste of elk I had was at a place called Woodys in Tupelo MS. Only thing missing here was the 104 heat, 92% humidity (today it was 4), and any semblance of Elvis. Vibe rating here: 7.94 Cool Art, nice cocktail glasses, colorful display behind bar, cozy dining area, jazz trio tonite, chic crowd.... Elk meatloaf was the bomb. Creme brûlée was standard. Tupelo Grille- I had high hopes. The hostess was very friendly and sat us at our table and informed us we would love our meal- ya, great I thought. We ordered drinks and a few appetizers. They were good. Some time of seafood cake was great. Drinks came out. Our freind ordered an old fashioned. He brought out the tiniest poor I've ever seen. Either the waiter drank half of it on his way out- might explain the terrible service or the bartender was a rookie. We questioned the poor to which the waiter attempted to deflect the question rather and acknowledge the skimpy poor. We carried on, hoping the next drink would be of a better pour. We ordered another round of drinks. They came out- again- the pour was very skimpy but at least it was not terrible. Main course- mains were brought out. Things looked good. The halibut was literally killed twice. It was so over cooked. Even the center of the wish was very dry. We informed the waiter the fish was over cooked- he again, tried to defect and question the fish was not over cooked. On a expensive plate of fish you should make it right. Not question the guest. Anyways- this waiter was terrible, the back of the house has a few things to work on. They were supper busy- hopefully others had a better experience. Don't judge your customers- provide a wonderful experience. Expectations were let down. read more

Last minute/unplanned delicious dinner! We had been traveling all day and had just arrived at our Airbnb and desperately needed dinner. We drove to the closest restaurant and unfortunately they did not have any seating available that night. I then saw Tupelo on Yelp, called and they happened to have a spot for 2 open up right then. There was live music which made it a little difficult to hear but for the most part it was pleasant. We both had several delicious cocktails. For dinner my boyfriend had the elk meatloaf - not my thing at all but he wanted to try something different and he enjoyed it. I had a side salad and short ribs and both were great. It may sound strange but it was probably one of the freshest and best side salads I have had in a long time. Wonderful evening. Spectacular food. If you can afford it, the bison rib rye steak is amazing. The drinks were inventive and perfectly balanced - hard to find truly good ones these days as everyone has overdone the craft cocktail Scene. Off With Her Head and Mae West were standouts. Also have never had such delicious roasted cauliflower loves laid on purée and lemon sauce. Made it a meal for someone. We had the pleasure of outstanding service from our waiter Taylor who took great care of us and was perfectly attentive. Lovely Croatian hostess told us all about her home country and places to see as we were planning our next vacation. The live music from a wonderful blues guitarist put the evening over the top. The bill was a a bit stunning but when we thought about the food, drinks, service, hospitality and ambiance we all agreed it was well worth it. We researched restaurants before arriving in Whitefish and this place was on the top of our list. We decided to make a reservation to make sure we were seated in the dining room and not in the bar/entertainment area since it can get loud and we were looking for a bit of quiet after a long day of hiking. We were seated at the best table for two and had exceptional service by the waitstaff. I decided to try their chicken gumbo and it was so good, I almost needed more bread to scrape out the bowl! My husband and I always like to order something that we know we cannot get at home so we both decided on the Elk meatloaf. The portion was large and what I loved the best was that it was heartily sliced then grilled so the outside had a bit of a crust and the inside was juicy and not dry. He suggested the special and the Elk meatloaf dinner. We got both and loved every bit. I especially liked the Huckleberry demi-glacé was delicious. Great spot. We spent five days in Whitefish, and this was by far our favorite dining experience. The whole experience was really just top notch. We were there with our 15 month old child, and they were very accommodating. The host started giving my wife recommendations off the menu before we ever even sat down, and our waitress was super friendly, which of course is pretty much the norm here in Whitefish. Both of our main courses were delicoius. My wife had the shrimp and grits. The presentation was great, the flavor was good. She ate it all. I had a few bites. I had the chicken and dumplings, and man that was so delicious. The dumplings were soft and fluffy. The chicken was nicely fried. The sauce was the best part. This is a very versatile restaurant. We were there with our 15 month old son. We saw lots of other families there with children. All that being said, if we had a babysitter, it would have made a fantastic date night as well. The food was decent, nothing special, not worth the prices in my opinion. However, the service was, quite frankly, a travesty. Our food took ages to come out, well after the other tables (who arrived after us) got their food. The waitress told us our food was "being plated" and that it "would be out soon"; this was a lie - that is unless the macaroni and cheese took 25 minutes to be plated. I would not recommend to anyone looking for a dinner that is less than 2 hours. read more
