It's been over a year or longer since I've eaten there. Sandwiches are good, at least then, but they take way too long to make them. I have watched as I wait and it's painful. Slow on every level, and inefficient... walking from one side to the other constantly to get bread, condiments, meat, it seems very disorganized. Also, Not sure if they still do this, if you order a "small" they cut the edges of the bread off to make it smaller. What a waste, there's got to be a better way. Went to the deli today,We hadn't been in quite sometime. I ordered the big Pastrami Sandwich and I believe it was $12.00 I bread was average and the Pastrami was layered?? I specifically asked if they grilled it. There was hardly any meat and if you know what you're doing when you make Pastrami it's usually all curled up and hot piled high... well not even close. I asked for a few napkins and the young man pointed to the other side of the deli where the condiments were. The napkins dispenser was filthy with finger prints all over it... and so dusty. Located off of PCH, in an L-shaped strip mall surrounding a parking lot. The deli is over in the corner, there is outdoor and indoor seating. You order at the counter. There are dozens of sandwiches, wraps and salads. There is a large variety of meats and breads to choose from. The service is very quick. The portions and sandwiches are large. The half-salad is enough for two and the same is true for the small sub. The sub contained plenty of meat and vegetables. I had a sub with Capicola, ham and Prosciutto. You can add chips and a soda to complete the meal. I am going to try the BLT tomorrow for breakfast. read more

I am a local and I have tried this place twice now. The first time was mehhh but the person I was with asked to try it as we were in the shopping center anyway. I ordered the Italian sandwich with a side of macaroni salad. Then you head over to the seating area to wait for your food to be called. I looked for a table (it wasn't busy) and they were all dirty with sandwich fixings/droppings. I ended up busing my own table and wiping it down with the Clorox wipe in my purse. The Italian sandwich was soooooo salty I could barley eat it. I thought I was going to be saved by the mac salad (SEE PICTURE, $2.50), but it had no flavor and was weird consistency!! Hear ye, hear ye! LORD SANDWICH here! It's all about the bread! Unfortunately it's all about the WRONG bread at Tutor's- they after the bread in your wallet only. Seriously, I loved Tutor's for many years, but the past two visits have left me completely toasted! I'm a simple caveman, I eat Rosa's best on Squaw everything on it except mustard, I'm strongly against mustard unless I'm eating a corndog. Anyway, these peeps are super smart, they get your money before they tell you they're out of squaw and are about to start industrial production equipment next to you as begin to dine. I got past the terrible attitude of the peasant dude taking my order- squaw and no mustard, with chips $20.00. Just as I sat down between towering boxes awaiting to be filled, some Jamokey turned on a giant industrial cutter right next to me that flooded the dining room with the most annoying sound of giant blade cutting through their new Tudor Bar likely sold on amazon. My little sandwich shop has vanished. Taken away by another proprietor who forgot scaling a $15 sandwich is impossible without caring about your customer. I sat there staring at two pieces of Wonder Bread bathed in mustard. I was so appalled by the industrial cutting machine and clueless idiot wearing absolutely no PPE I stood straight up taller than I walked in and drove to Joe Albertson's Supermarket where they treated like King Arthur letting me nibble on all the Boar's Head ham my I wanted. Then I ordered a turkey sandwich on squaw, no mustard and sat my Porsche watching pedestrian's play chicken trying make their way to the supermarket doors. I miss the Tom Blake. From his level on down you always got a great sandwich and people paid meticulous attention to special requests. Especially where allergies are concerned! I ordered a sandwich from DoorDash. When placing the orders under special instructions in 2 DIFFERENT AREAS I put in CAPS severe mustard allergy, no mustard, please use a clean knife when cutting the sandwich so there's no cross-contamination. When the DoorDash delivered I read the sandwich slip taped to the outside and it said no mustard severe mustard allergy wipe knife I said OK you can go it looks like they paid attention. When I open the sandwich whoever made the sandwich put extra mustard on it - it was everywhere. I own and run a dog business and frequently use DoorDash because I cannot leave . I realize I'm paying a premium for the sandwich plus a delivery fee and adding a tip so you can easily end up with a $20 sandwich. To then have to leave your business, leaving the dogs unattended and drive to tutor and spunky's to explain what happened and wait for a new sandwich is unacceptable. When I spoke to the person on the phone they said no one there have the authority to fix their mistake and she gave me the phone number of the owner so that I could call her myself. When I called the number was a disconnected number. When I pointed out the phone number was wrong when I arrived, she said I must've taken it down wrong to which I thought maybe you gave it to me wrong. I asked if my replacement sandwich was ready and she said they had not started it yet. So while they made the replacement sandwich I called the owner, she only asked if I had received a fresh sandwich and that she would talk to them. In the meantime the person who made the sandwich said I don't know what happened I'm sorry can I give you a cookie. Really? If a customer said my child has a peanut allergy please don't put any peanut butter on their sandwich, what would you do if you received a sandwich with double peanut butter and your child ended up in the hospital? I could not of been more clear about a mustard allergy that requires an epi-pain or a trip to the emergency room. Not to mention the inconvenience. I've always loved this deli my entire life but if the new owner has people that don't pay attention to IMPORTANT ALLERGY instructions of incoming orders that's too big a risk for me to take. This is compounded by not making a sincere apology or any attempt to correct the situation with a long-term customer. EPIC FAIL. read more

A small sandwich is $10, overpriced! 4. Takes 10-15 min to get 2 sandwiches made and they are never consistent with the amount of cheese or different toppings. My hero... I'm not talking about the sandwiches... Although they are amazing... I'm talking about a good samaritan with a heart of gold. This review is for Nghia one of the staff of T & S. One of my employees came here to buy lunch on behalf of our company while our team was working at a local hotel. It turns out that he left my wallet at the restaurant and I assumed I lost it at the hotel. I was distraught... I had several hundred dollars in my wallet, and all my credit cards.. Plus the new REAL ID. After 2 days and finally coming to terms with losing my wallet... I received a call... "Mr. Manaktala... This is AAA Auto Club... We have someone who found your wallet and did not know how to get a hold of you (after calling the Dana Point Police who were no help). So he found your AAA card and called us and asked us to get in touch... He found your wallet and would like to return it to you." Nghia who works at this venue took so much time and energy to return my wallet and when I arranged to meet with him in person to pick it up he refused to take any money for compensation. On bread. So, my bad. But this sandwich is awful. So bready, such a horrible denseness for a sandwich roll. Far less meat, far less cheese. Also, massive dropoff in quality on both meat and cheese (turkey was fine, but that's not really hard). Absolutely no moisture in either the beef or cheese, adding to the black hole of flavorlessness. I feel like the sandwich tasted me more than I it. Seriously, folks, the single worst sandwich I've ever eaten. The animated corpses of labor staff should have been a good tip off, but I'm apparently not capable of accepting what my eyes behold. This is our favorite sandwich shop in DP. On Saturday (Labor Day weekend) I called in an order of about 12 sandwiches. Went to get them and they were ready! They even gave us chocolate chip cookies free!! Once back at our picnic spot, I realized I was missing a sandwich. Gave them a call and they said yes it is here. They tried to call me to let me know, but wasn't sure what number. I ran back up there and they had it waiting in the refrigerator case. Even tried to give me more cookies, but I said we had plenty.
