We walked over after a day in the WWII museum. This place is fun! I love the theme and decoration. The food was delicious! We got the signature blood bag sangria. I had the bbq crab claws and the sauce was out of this world so delicious! My friend got the vegetable curry and she loved it as well. My husband got the deviled eggs and the gumbo he devoured both! I wanted to try alligator for the first time but they were out so I ordered a vampire burger which was good. Their chocolate cake is super good and rich in flavor. The highlight was obviously the blood bags and we got the virgin versions which was pomegranate & lemonade. Definitely a little touristy and it was a fun experience. Our server was super friendly and helpful. We went in on a Friday afternoon and it wasn't that busy. They automatically apply a 20% gratuity fee since it's summer so just a heads up. The restaurant is pretty small and our stroller barely fit. They do not offer high chairs for small kids, by the way. There is some outdoor seating but it gets really hot and humid during this time. Was really disappointed in this place. We knew it was more of a tourist trap but didn't expect it to be as terrible as it was. Ordered off the blood bag drink menu, were told they would take a moment as they had to refill the blood bags, drinks took a while and still didn't come in the bags. Also ordered coffee and that came out cold like it had been sitting for hours, the server asked how the coffee was and then proceeded to tell us that the place across the street had better coffee. We all ordered burgers, one girl in our group got the Dracula while the rest of us got the vampire burger. I added the bacon jam to mine. Burgers come out, I get the right one, a vampire with jam added, while the other girl who order the Dracula gets a vampire. We let the server know she got the wrong burger and I was told I took her burger but that it was also the kitchens fault, even though I got what I ordered. Server goes back to get to right food out in and when it finally came out it was cold, not lukewarm COLD. After the meal decided to go to the bathroom before walking more around the quarter and there's no water pressure at all, like the sink is just dripping. $49 for a drink and a mediocre burger at best, literally had a better burger at McDonalds on the way home. Maybe it was the day and time we went but I wouldn't recommend this place or bother giving it a second chance. read more

Busy place. We were at the bar but it still took the two bar attendants time to get our order. Since we were only there for the vampire speakeasy ticket and password we just ordered the blood bag. It came in two flavors. One sangria and the other vodka with cranberry juice. Both were more warm than they should be. Disappointing. You have to ask for the ticket and password to the speakeasy. It's located in the back of Fritzels European Jazz club. But by the time we got there, the speakeasy was at capacity that they could let in and we discovered they had a $20 cover. We decided to spend our money elsewhere. The Vampire Cafe has some charm for a goth setting. The Vampire speakeasy was a disappointment. We were not told about the mandatory 20% gratuity. It was great, I probably drank the whole thing in 5 minutes. My boyfriend got the B+ and loved it as well. The bartenders were great. We really weren't hungry to get food but enjoyed just popping in for a quick drink. All the food around us looked great though. The interior is what's fabulous here. We stopped by the Vampire Café in New Orleans for brunch, fulfilling my wife's wish after my morning adventure standing in line for merch. On the way, I had a great chat with an Uber driver from upstate New York who works for an educational foundation and drives Uber to make ends meet--a nice unexpected connection. When I arrived, I was lucky to get a seat quickly since the place is small and often has a bit of a wait. I wasted no time and ordered a Cabernet Sauvignon and chicken and waffles. The dish was so fresh it felt like they sourced the chicken from the alley out back--funny, but true! It was absolutely delicious and hit the spot. Because I love all things Vampire I was really looking forward to trying this place but was very disappointed. It really lacks the vampire theme, the staff is not friendly or attentive and they are disorganized. I told the waitress the drink I wanted and said in the blood bag, one of the other servers brings me the drink in a cup. I say I am sorry I thought this came in a blood bag, he says very dry no only xyz comes in the blood bag and walks away. Then we had to ask 3 times about our appetizer as it seems they forgot about us. I didn't get photos but it was a lovely place. It was a miracle we were able to get a table so quick during one of the festivals. Staff was mostly lovely. Our waitress took longer than we like, but it was understandable with it being busy and dinner rush. Like most places in New Orleans, there isn't a kid menu but still plenty of choices. We did the charcuterie board, baked Brie and the blackened trio for the kids to share (we had 4 with us). The blackened trio was a really tiny portion of shrimp, gator and salmon. The brie was great and we got extra bread with it. The board was perfect and the kids liked picking at all the stuff on it. I had ordered the gumbo, which I had been craving. It was really disappointing. It was cold and tasted like no seasoning was used. I mentioned it to the waitress and she told me to add salt. When I asked why it was cold, she just shrugged and walked off. We attempted to ask for other drinks besides water and never got them. I think we might have had a better experience with a different waitress. I feel like because we were automatically being charged 20% gratuity, she just didn't care. Really cool concept. A bit old school feel allowing for a mild vampire concept that is quite fun. There were 3 kids and 3 adults. We had 4 burgers, caprese salad and shrimp and grits. The kids ate the burgers so all seemed fine there. I had the Dracula, which had blue cheese, a bacon jam and some other things. It was really good! It is on the pricey side but it's Nee Orleans. I would get it again. The other 2 dishes were also apparently really good. We all finished everything. The potato chips that come with the burger are home made. They were a little overcooked for some but good for me. While their menu is limited, I would absolutely go back. It was a fun concept and the food was good. read more

For a vampire Café I expected it to be a little bit more dark and mysterious, but I loved the theme! They only had two drinks that were in the vampire blood bags, disappointing. We did the elephant garlic, which was confit and it was delicious! It came with four large elephant chunks of garlic and three pieces of buttered toast. After passing by here one evening and thinking 'oh this looks cool,' I came back for lunch shortly after they opened on a Friday. I figured if I go for lunch it will be easier to get in and less crowded inside. I was greeted by a girl with long dark hair dressed in themed attire. She had a weird vibe. I asked about the vampire cafe vs apothecary and if they are connected. With attitude I hear 'same chef, different menu!' I asked if they had any vegetarian friendly options to which she went through the menu to show me. I thought about maybe just getting a blood bag drink at the bar. She then says 20% gratuity, is that OKAY?? I was a bit surprised by that even if I got a $9 virgin drink (basically watered down juice). You are pretty much paying for the novelty of the bag. By then I was hungry so I mentioned I'd like a table to dine. I was seated and then ignored for maybe 15-20 min. No hello or smile from anyone. Finally an older gentleman with glasses came by with water. I asked about the drink menu and his suggestion on whether I should get the blood bag or try the B- cocktail? All he heard was blood bag and off he went to get it. I had to stop him and say excuse me! I didn't order yet I'm just asking about the menu. Ugh to make it easier I just got the blood bag. My friend & I ordered the vegetarian Thai red curry. This took FOREVER to come out. We were never checked on or acknowledged. We asked our server for the bill in advance since we were running late & had to catch a flight. Trying to expedite service, we thought to pay before the meal came. Another 15-20 min and nothing. I had to flag down another server to ask again for the bill because our server was wandering around folding napkins and hanging by the bar. So frustrating! The curry eventually came out. Hearty and filling with rice and tofu, it came out piping hot. We didn't even have a chance to try it and the hostess runs over asking how it was. Overall, the curry was delicious. The blood bag drink had nothing to it other than it coming in the bag. Actually hard to drink out off once you get to the halfway point. While it's cute inside, I didn't sense any vampire theme other than 'blood bag' drinks and a few bats on the wall. It looked more medieval & pirate like to me. Service is extremely slow and frustrating. A bit expensive too. Roughly $43 for the curry & virgin blood bag drink. There is no sense of urgency and/or follow up on customers. I can't believe there is a mandatory 20% gratuity when the service is this horrible. I'd say if you decide to go, make sure to block out 3-4 hours for lunch given how slow they operate and hope you get a different server! read more

Heard about this place prior to my trip and as someone who just can't resist a gimmick I absolutely had to visit! I came in and was promptly greeted and shown to a table during the late lunch time period around 1:30pm on a weekday. The place is absolutely gorgeous with the funniest touches in the bathroom. I loved how all their cocktails with named after the blood types, however the B+ cocktail I got to go at the end of my meal was by far the worst cocktail I've ever encountered and rivals some of the awful things I've erroneously mixed up myself at home. That said, the AB+ cocktail was absolutely perfect! So your mileage may vary depending upon what you like. For food I ordered the burrata which came with fresh grape tomatoes and artichokes from a can that were so salty I couldn't eat more than a bite of them. At least the burrata itself and the grape tomatoes were great so I'm overlooking the awful artichokes. I also got the vampire burger and it was good, no complaints, came exactly as expected, but it did come with a side of homemade chips that I was excited about, but they weren't salted at all so it was like eating bland fried potatoes so I ended up not eating them. If I rated the place on food and drinks alone, I would probably be leaving a 2 or 3 star review since everything seemed so hit or miss, but like I said, I love a good gimmick and the interior was truly beautiful and I enjoyed the themed out menus and funny little signs as well. read more

We were disappointed with the gumbo we received. It looked more like a rice-and-chicken dish than a proper gumbo, and its appearance was off‑putting. The flavor was even worse than it looked.
