It was a further walk from our hotel, but we had no trouble securing a table for two here. The menu looked mostly Italian, so we were quite pleased with the choices. Jamie ordered the $25 Spaghetti Carbonara, a fresh tasting, gluten-free rendition with bits of vegan gianciale, green peas and an impressive whole "egg" yolk on top (Photo 8). I must've been in a "meatier" mood and went with the $26 Tagliatelle Bolognese, another gluten-free delight. The sauce had a savory umami flavor anchored by chopped mushrooms, carrot, and onion (Photo 9). The pasta had a surprising al dente texture. We shared the salty-savory $14 Grilled Artichokes with olives, capers, roasted peppers, lemon, and mint (Photo 10). It offers a fresh, modern take on vegan Italian cuisine. Drinks & Appetizers We started with two cocktails: the Strawberry Girl (alcoholic) and the Let It Be (non-alcoholic). Both were excellent. For appetizers, we ordered the Moroccan Cigars, served with a light, tangy yogurt-style dipping sauce with just the right amount of heat. The cigars themselves were delicate, filled with plant-based meat, and lightly fried. Think of an elevated, artisanal taquito. A perfect lead-in to the main course. Entrées We ordered two dishes: the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka with the chicken Parmesan add-on, and the Spicy Meatball Pizza. Pro tip: absolutely add the chicken Parmesan to the rigatoni. The vodka sauce was bold and spicy without overpowering the dish, and the chicken Parm was beautifully cooked with excellent texture, a natural and well-balanced pairing. The pizza was exceptional. True to its name, there was a meatball in nearly every bite. It's topped with ricotta and dusted with parmesan, and we added red chili flakes for an extra kick. The crust is very thin and artisanal, and every component, the marinara, meatballs, sausage, ricotta, and parmesan, worked in perfect harmony. The dough alone is worth finishing every last piece. Dessert We ended with the Brownie Sundae, which was the one minor letdown of the evening. The ice cream appeared to have been pre-scooped, as it was quite firm with visible ice crystals, not ideal. The brownie itself, however, was absolutely delicious, though the portion felt a bit small relative to the dish as a whole. Overall, the sundae was just okay. I'd likely skip it next time and explore other dessert options. Service & Atmosphere The service was fantastic, and the overall ambiance was warm and inviting. The pacing of the meal was particularly impressive. Drinks, appetizers, entrées, and dessert all arrived at just the right tempo. Nothing felt rushed, and nothing lingered too long. Parking There is no dedicated parking for the restaurant. Crossroads is located on Melrose Avenue, a busy shopping district with heavy foot traffic and limited street parking. That said, we visited on a Sunday afternoon and found street parking without much trouble. If spots near the restaurant are taken, driving a few blocks into the surrounding neighborhood usually turns up more options, just be prepared for a short walk. Also seems like neighboring tables were also complaining about flies near their food. Onto the food, the biscuits are a bit tasteless so the dips on it is basically you eating the flavors of the dips. Not the best but not the worst either. The best part is the crumpets, they are top notch and even better with the dips. All the dips are very flavorful, my favorite goes to the pickled veggies, which have coleslaw vibes. The ingredients covering the short ribs added flavors to the meat and was a good compliments to the dish. Presented beautifully as well which is a good start. 7.5/10 pork belly noodles ($32) Similar to the short rib, this dish is covered in grilled pineapple, chili crunch, and pickled veggies. Noodles aside, the pork belly is absolutely blistering in flavors. Very crunchy, and juicy. Although it was just very salty which is where the pineapple is supposed to lessen the saltiness but it didn't. Although it's delicious, it was just too salty for my tastebuds. The noodles are delicious and have a kick to it, a bit of spice but very soft. 6.5/10 Overall, food was good but not the best that I've tried. Service was good in a way but it was just way too slow. I was pretty disappointed with the pacing of the food. We got our two appetizers first after about 15 minutes and were enjoying the them for a good while as well. After that, we had to wait almost 30 minutes to get our entrees, a bit disappointed there with the pacing but understandable as it seems like they have a system in place for that.
