Vietnamese food that's light, clean, and herbal! As you drink the herbal, light, broth it slowly fills your stomach, warming you. The surroundings are peaceful and quiet as other people taste the delicious Vietnamese food. As soon as you walk in, the subtle but welcoming smell of Vietnamese food fills your nose. This place is, in my opinion the best! Light and filling, so good and comforts, perfect in the wintertime!

(Written by my 8 year old son.) I had an amazing experience at the Viet Tapas Bar.The whole restaurant was very new and clean and had beautiful paintings and nice statues and good music. Most of the food was absolutely amazing . I would give the Wagyu beef rolls, taro omelette, and chicken crispy roll a 8.5/10,and the fish clay pot and lamb would get a 9.9/10 and the coconut sorbet a 9.5/10.The service was great, and our server was really funny. The only problem was that our server never gave us water until we asked.I DEFINITELY recommended coming to the Viet Tapas Bar overall I would give the meal a 9.9/10.

Admittedly, it was not our first choice, but how wrong could we be: it should have been our first choice. A small, fairly simple interior with relaxed ambiance, and the staff was wonderful. But wait for it: the food was spectacular: cute, unique and charmingly arranged, and most importantly super delicious. Crispy chicken roll, wagyu beef roll, chicken rice clay pot, shaking lamb, chicken shrimp dumplings, etc all wonderful. We could not resist to order encores - and plan to come back.

Great service and everything is delicious. Didn't take pictures of everything I got because as it came we ate.

Super unique vietanamese tapa restaurant! It's rare to see veitanamese tapas, it's usually pho and bahn mis. But this place takes it to the next level, with true tapas, authentic to the taste, and super unique. I got the spring rolls, the bison roll, the stone pot rice bowl, and the diced lamb dish. The bison roll and the stone pot rice bowl were my favorite. Bison roll was so unique and well flavored. Stone pot rice bowl, reminds me of a stone bibimbap, and it was delicious. The lamb was a bit pricey. Reminds me of diced filet mignon french style the Chinese usually serves. I loved the ambiance and interior. Super mellow and chill. Great spot to catch up with friends or for date night. Service was friendly and really quick. Overall, definitely recommend!

We were pleasantly surprised by our experience. The server was very kind and gave us a few recommendations after we told him it was our first time. The tapas where a perfect portion size to share. The server recommended 3-4 items for two and we couldn't agree more. The food was artfully presented, and cooked to deliver a pleasant and engaging taste experience without being too harsh, it was definitely an elevated culinary offering. Highly Recommend!!!!!!!!

Amazing food and service. The wine selection is great. The only downside is it can get loud but frankly Eagle rock could use some noise

I can't believe it's been 12 years--and I'm so happy to say it was every bit as incredible as I remembered. My friend and I came for lunch. I ordered the vegetable pho, and she had the curry rice. Both dishes were absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, comforting, and beautifully prepared. Honestly, I wish we had more time because we had another appointment downtown. I would have loved to try more dishes and definitely dessert! Our server was wonderful--friendly, attentive, and incredibly professional. He checked on us at just the right moments without ever feeling intrusive. The service was as impressive as the food. The restaurant has such a warm, relaxing atmosphere. I especially loved the beautiful ceramic water cups with bird designs--they were so unique and charming. Even the water tasted wonderful! I'm thrilled that Au Lac is still thriving after all these years. If anything, the food tasted even better than I remembered. I certainly won't wait another 12 years before coming back. In fact, I was so impressed that I convinced my husband to come with me next Saturday for dinner! I've tried many vegan restaurants over the years, and Au Lac remains my absolute favorite. My favorite on the Westside is Variable Café, but if you're willing to drive a little farther, Au Lac is on another level. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. Whether you're vegan or not, this place is truly outstanding. Five stars without hesitation!

I wish I could give a zero. This is the worst meal I've ever had and it's not because of the food,…read moreit's because of the godawful service. FLABBERGASTED is the word I would use. The Asian gentleman with a crew cut/short hair was the rudest waiter I've ever experienced. My friend and I got there at 12:30PM before a show at the Walt Disney Concert Hall on Sunday at 2 PM- it took 20 minutes for them to take our order. We let them know that we had a show to go to and to just bring the food as it was ready. It took 45 minutes for our first dish to arrive. INSANE, WHEN THE RESTAURANT WAS EMPTY AND DEAD. Then we heard the Asian waiter telling off the other table next to us who was also going to the same show at Walt Disney Concert Hall. They came earlier than us, ordered first and still didn't even get their dishes before us. They told him to take it off the bill if the food didn't come in time since they didn't have time to eat it. I was shocked to hear the rude waiter telling that table "You should have told us that you were going to a show and that you were in a hurry".. WTF, like in this economy- we're paying to go to a sit-down restaurant to get treated like garbage??? My friend and I barely had time to eat and we took our leftovers. This was the first time I tipped 15% in YEARS and I wish I tipped nothing. We asked for bags since they just gave us boxes and then as we left He had the AUDACITY TO SAY "JUST SO YOU KNOW, WE'RE NOT A FAST PACED CASUAL RESTAURANT" IT'S INSANE THAT YOU GUYS CANT EVEN DO LUNCH ON AN EMPTY SUNDAY WITHIN 2 HOURS. Go here, if you have nothing to do and want to get treated like garbage. I will never go here ever again. Maybe they just get business since this is the only vegan option in the area. Thank you for ruining a lovely Sunday afternoon because we couldn't even enjoy the show, all I could remember was how rude and smug that Asian waiter was. Please close this business. I'm shocked that Gordon Ramsay didn't show up to say that he was shooting this place for Kitchen Nightmares.

The spot was mostly empty when my girlfriend and I arrived for dinner around 5:30pm on a Saturday. We ordered with the host and picked out a table by the window to people watch while we waited for our food. We waited only maybe 10 minutes before the pho, vermicelli, and spring roles were served. Each dish was colorful, had great presentation, and nice portions for the price. The pho we ordered was spicy level hot and did have well done broth and a good amount of sliced steak. The protein was tender, and the veggie toppings added great elements of minty crunch and herbal delight. I enjoyed my combination noodles. The bowl had a good mix of vegetables and a few types of protein ( chicken, pork, fried egg roll, and shrimp ) it was awesome! The spring rolls were terrific as well. The peanut sauce had some nut crumbles for texture which had subtle crunch with every spring role bite. The food was good, staff was great, and I'd consider coming back if ever in the area again with a Vietnam craving.
