Soo good! I try to go to Villalobos any chance I get, and I tell all my friends. The chef will come out and talk to you, make the food any way you prefer. For me, he adds fish to the burrito even though that isn't on the menu. He'll make it extra spicy for me too! I just love this place! A small restaurant that welcomes you in like you're visiting family. It has a very Home like feeling. This place really surprised us, we showed up 45 minutes before the placed closed so it was empty, but the staff was friendly and attentive. The food was amazing, especially my wife's shrimp Cocktail. Found this place through Yelp just looking for a new place in the Long Beach area. Food is amazing, the salad of Kale and purple cabbage is incredible, the dressing is one of a kind. Tried the fish tacos, shrimp tacos, and steak tacos, maybe the best I've had. The owners are super friendly and attentive. I have taken some friends and they were blown away saying it was one of the best lunches they have had. This is one of my "go to" spots for lunch. Love the food and love the people. Man -- I just stopped at Villalobos Kitchen to pick up a burrito to go (I hadn't eaten a burrito from there yet), and I couldn't believe it when I took the first bite. I hadn't eaten all day (it was after 5 pm), and I really wanted comfort food. So I ordered a steak burrito with beans (black), rice, guacamole, lettuce and salsa (no cheese for me!). I'm incredibly picky with it, and I feel this menudo is better than what I had in Guadalajara. Took my family and each of them loved the chilaquiles, pescado, and menudo as well. It's not often you find a place that has a chef and staff that are clearly proud of their culinary accomplishments. That's pride is well earned and richly deserved. I plan to comeback whenever possible. For dinner we had the red pozole with pork. The pork was literally falling off the bone tender. The broth was delicate and understated, allowing the pork to be the star of the plate. The potato tacos that came with the meal were delicious! The garnish of radish, cabbage and onions with cilantro were all very fresh. We also had the cooked shrimp ceviche. The avocado was gorgeous and the ceviche was delicious. The service was impeccable.
