My partner visited a couple of weeks ago and couldn't stop raving about the food, so he brought me in to try it for myself this Sunday. From the moment we walked in, we felt so genuinely welcomed. The entire staff was kind, attentive, and made us feel right at home. I can't quite explain it, but there was just such a warm, welcoming feeling the whole time we were there. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable, like you're enjoying a home cooked meal with family. Parking was a breeze, and the food was absolutely delicious. I had the steak breakfast, and my partner decided to try the chicken pozole this time. On his first visit, he had the pork pozole and loved it, so he knew we had to come back. I have to say, that steak was cooked to perfection! You can truly feel the love and care that goes into this restaurant. We can't wait to come back with our family and friends. Villalobos Kitchen has definitely become one of our new favorite spots and will be a regular stop for us. Highly recommend!

We found this Jem about two years ago. They are a Latin family owned business. Every time we go we are treated kindly and welcomed by the owner. The food is amazing and cooked to order. I usually come here when I want some mariscos. I highly recommend the Seafood tower & fish tacos. Their house made ranch dressing is fire!! I have to go back for breakfast, the menu looks very appetizing. I highly recommend this place, you won't be disappointed. The ambiance is pretty chill

We had the Pozole Verde and the Chile Relleno Plate which included a shrimp taco. Both were excellent. Always eat local and support small businesses in my community. The shrimp taco, and the flavors were mild, not overpowering. Also, I tried the ribs on takeout. They were falling off the bone. But I wish they could have used more seasoning. The owners are very kind service is always good.

What a gem! Service was the very attentive and so helpful. Our three entrees were authentic and tasty. We will be back. Thank , Chef!

** Phenomenal experience!** Villalobos Kitchen is a beautiful, family-owned gem. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming from the moment we walked in, and we loved how dog-friendly they are! To top it all off, the food was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back soon and highly recommend checking them out!

This is the first time I've ever finished my entire bowl of pozole. I've tried many different places, and they've always been a disappointment--until now. If I'm ever craving pozole, this will definitely be my go-to spot. The staff is incredibly kind, welcoming, and friendly, which made the experience even better. The restaurant is very clean, and it has such a warm, comfortable atmosphere that you feel like you're eating at home. I'll definitely be coming back!

So we've been coming back to this place trying out different items from their menu each time, and so far everything has been delicious. Portions are great, everything is fresh, delicious and you can tell made with lots of love. The family behind the counter are so pleasant and kind. Please try this place out, you will not be disappointed.

New York Steak with primo salad and garlic veggies, BBQ Rib plate with black beans and garlic veggies
    Brian F.

I decided to try this place to see if the stars and reviews were true. I ordered the New York steak and my partner ordered the BBQ Ribs and we were hooked! I have been a loyal customer for over a year and everyone whom I have referred has been pleased with the exceptional service and delicious plates. This family-owned business puts their heart into their dishes and they truly appreciate all their customers. Thank you, Villalobos Kitchen for treating us like family from day one and for all the delicious meals!

Chicken Enchiladas with beans, rice, and kale salad.

My wife and I were going to be in the area, so I searched Yelp for a good place to eat. After seeing the excellent ratings, we decided to give it a try, and it absolutely lived up to the reviews. It may look like a small restaurant from the outside, but don't let that fool you. From the moment we were seated, the service was warm and welcoming. We were promptly served complimentary chips and salsa along with our drinks. I ordered the ribeye steak with mixed vegetables and a kale salad, while my wife chose the chicken enchiladas with beans, rice, and a kale salad. The food arrived quickly, and everything was excellent. The ribeye was flavorful, cooked perfectly, and incredibly tender. The mixed vegetables--a combination of zucchini, broccoli, and asparagus topped with Parmesan--were delicious, and the kale salad was fresh and surprisingly tasty. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her enchiladas as well. Overall, we both had a fantastic meal and a great experience without breaking the bank. They also have daily specials posted on the board when you walk in, so be sure to keep an eye out for those. The staff we encountered throughout our visit were genuinely friendly and attentive. We're already trying to figure out when we can come back. If you're in the area and looking for a great meal at a reasonable price, give this place a shot--you won't be disappointed.

Went to this place because I saw a tik tok video Turns out right down the street from where I work And let me tell you i got the chilaquiles and they were delicious 11/10 the woman and the counter was super nice and welcoming definitely coming. Back Let the photos speak for them selfs Please show this place some love

Hidden Gem -- Drive Slow or You May Miss It! Let me start by saying that the moment you walk through the doors, the aroma of a home-cooked meal hits you--instantly reminding you of your abuelita's kitchen. The nostalgia is real. The menu offers so many great choices that it's hard to decide what to order. The chips arrived fresh and warm, and the salsa was hands down one of the best table salsas I've ever had--just like homemade. I ordered the Green Pozole, while my better half chose the Aguachiles. The Green Pozole was packed with flavor and had the perfect balance of chicken and hominy. It came with all the traditional fixings and, to my surprise, included three incredibly delicious potato tacos on the side. The Aguachiles were exceptionally fresh, with the perfect ratio of cucumber, onion, and shrimp. Each shrimp was cleaned, deveined, and butterflied, showing the care and attention to detail that goes into every dish. The chile sauce was outstanding and brought everything together beautifully. We couldn't leave without dessert, so we ordered it to go. The flan was something special--creamy, delicate, topped with homemade caramel sauce, and accented with fresh mango. It was the perfect ending to an amazing meal. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and absolutely delicious. You can tell the owners and staff genuinely care about quality and the dining experience. We'll definitely be back!

My wife and I came here for our 20th anniversary dinner, and it was an excellent choice. The setting felt upscale without being overly formal, and the service was impeccable from beginning to end. We shared the tomahawk ribeye with corn and au gratin potatoes, and everything was outstanding. For dessert, we had the pluot bake, which was also incredible. Our waitress Laura was amazing and so attentive. This was the overall highlight of the dinner. Food was served quick and was delicious. Definitely as advertised and quality food as expected for a steakhouse. We had our own cake which they happily stored in the fridge for us, allowed it and even lit it at the end of dinner. Prices are on the high end with food and drinks, so be prepared to spend $$$$/$$$$$. My only suggestion would probably be to separate a bar/ drink tab if in a large group. It was hard to know who ordered what at the end of the night when receiving the check and it was huge section of the bill. Overall, ambiance was great with a live jazz band who was amazing, views were 360, and experience was well worth it. I definitely enjoyed my special day here and will be sure to come back for future life events.

This place popped up, and it was happy hour. So we thought why not. We got lucky and found parking close (rare for that street). And walked over and immediately loved the vibe. We walked in and were greeted immediately, and then brought upstairs. The decor on the way up was awesome. The old school nature, with paintings and abstract vintage pieces.. love. It felt like we were in an old industrial building. We were surprised that it was pretty empty when we got up there. We sat at the bar, and love the decor upstairs too. There's a view of the street from up there as well that's beautiful. The bartender greeted us fairly quickly, and we each ordered a speciality cocktail on their happy hour. Both were delicious. I will say that the prices are a bit steep for me. Very glad we came during the happy hour. But really want to return to try the food and more drinks. Maybe on a special date night out!

The upstairs host Kori was amazing. She was bubbly, kind and super helpful. Now to our waitress, there was a bit to be desired there. My wife felt like with each thing she asked for she was bothering her. ( I will omit her name out of kindness, she may have been dealing with something personal and having a bad day. ) Now to the food. The Drinks, my wife's Paloma was delicious. I had a Makers 46 neat. Very basic whiskey selections but it was good. Our appetizer, the Artichoke dip came out to us tepid after 20 minutes of waiting for it and the chips borderline stale. I had the Bo Burger, the pork belly and aioli carried it. Fries were ok. My wife had chicken milanese it was fantastic, she just had to request extra sauce. Coke Zeros were flat, we sent them back. So my wife had a Proseco and she enjoyed that. Upon putting in the reservation I stated it was my wife's birthday, Kori even asked we told her and I'm pretty sure it was relayed to the serve who said nothing and didn't inquire whether we wanted dessert or offer anything. My wife asked for a box, she put the box on the table and walked away. We had to ask a busser for a bag and a cup for her sauce. He was very sweet, he filled our waters and asked if we needed anything else. The restaurant charges a 5% fee for the team, you can decline it. We didn't. I even still gave the server a respectable tip. Sadly she could have received twice as much because I used to serve when I was much younger. My wife is a Dorector in the Hospitality industry and she loves giving extra. I understand the struggle but if she was as charismatic as Kori she could make more and really add to the restaurant. Needless to say we will not make the hour and 15 minute drive again.

We started with appetizers: mussels ($23) and braised lamb belly ($25). For the main course, we ordered a ribeye steak ($69), Scottish salmon ($46), and "dirty pasta" ($36). Drinks included a glass of wine ($17) and a glass of Coke ($4.50). With tax ($23.15) and an "employee benefits" charge ($5.51), the total came to $249.16 before gratuity. The mussels are cooked in a broth of white wine, nduja sausage, tomatoes, onions, lemon juice, and parsley, with a toasted baguette served on the side. I liked the overall taste of the dish, but the mussels were small. The braised lamb belly was an interesting dish, as it was served with kimchi and thin sheets of daikon radish on the side. I assumed the idea was to make a "taco" by combining the three components. I liked it, though the lamb had bit of gaminess which might not appeal to everyone. The ribeye plate comes as steak only, with sides available à la carte. The steak was cooked nicely--juicy and flavorful, though I was a bit surprised by how rich it tasted. The "dirty pasta" features large rigatoni, ground duck, ricotta, and sauce. It was good, and the duck made for an interesting change from the usual beef. As a complete plated meal, I think the Scottish salmon was impressive--both for its visual presentation and the taste of the meal as a whole. The restaurant floor has a split-level design. Upon entering, you'll find a large oval bar surrounded by tables and booths. Step down a level, and there are seats offering views of the Long Beach marina. This area with a view is protected by windows--which is good, as the marine air is often cool and breezy. It seems that nearly all the establishments owned by this restaurant group have names starting with the letter or word "A." When searching online, use the words "a pch restaurant," as "a pch" alone is apparently too vague a search term. A final note to management: I was surprised to see a $5.51 charge for "employee benefit" on our bill. I playfully asked our server what benefits this covered, but they didn't know. They mentioned it could be removed if I objected, but I chose not to. My point is, if you're charging diners, shouldn't your staff be able to explain it? And if the line item can be so easily discharged, maybe you shouldn't be adding it in the first place.

And let me tell you, that everything was so good. The Smoked & Glazed Pork Chop came with a whole show, where staff would bring out the dish in a smoke-infused glass dome and open the dome when presented on the table so we can smell and see all the smoke. Not only was it beautiful to look at, but it tasted just as beautifully. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the rainbow swiss chard, cheddar grits, candied pecans, and avocado honey helped balance out all the juiciness from the meat. They use haddock fillet for the Fish & Chips, which was fried to perfection. The Wedge Salad is what actually knocked my socks off! This was one of the best wedge salads that I've ever had. It did look quite busy on the patio when we checked in with the hostess. We were informed that it would prob be about 20 minutes or so for a table and if we wanted to wait at the bar. Exactly what we did. Bar area had maybe 5/6 hi top chairs that look onto the bar. Gabriel and Francisco who were working was knocking the drinks out one by one. Sitting there and just watching them create magic for everyone, it was quite amusing. Seeing how it's made and presented with precise detail, it was an art. While waiting for the table we started off with the raspberry lychee martini and the spicy margaritas. Both were great. The right amount of kick with each sip. Gabriel was knocking them out one by one and man was he busy. Fransisco took are of us while we were eating which we ended up just having our dinner at the bar instead. The last time I remembered the chicken Parmesan which was excellent. So we started off with the grilled prawns as a starters. Five prawns in a skewers and grilled with a delicious sauce accompanied. It was tasty and quite delicious. Decent size and meaty for each bite. Entrees was a little mishap as our meal was mistakenly given to the party next to us which they enjoyed. Honesty mistake but we laughed it off. Kitchen was informed and a rushed was put on our order. We weren't in a rush so it was fine with us. They apologized and graciously offered us a dessert after dinner. Something simple but very graceful for the honest mistake. Entrees, the wild mushrooms pasta which was quite tasty and pretty decent in size. The cream sauce which wasn't too over powering the meal was great. Each bite was very tasty. Then there was the chicken Parmesan which why we were here and expecting. The last visit it was excellent with grilled broccolini, slices of tomatoes on top and mozzarella cheese and onto spaghetti pasta. It was great. Thinking it would be the same this time which it wasn't. This visit, it was just served with squash pasta and buffalo mozzarella on top. Honestly it wasn't what I expected, somewhat of a little disappointed. Chicken was good don't get me wrong. But the hot meat with sauce and then you have literally COLD squash pasta paired with it. It was a little underwhelming. Overall, we still had a nice experience. The place was pretty full and of course the lakers were on so it was fun seeing everyone cheering them on. Bar seating for a meal was great as we had fun conversations with both Gabriel and Francisco. Plus they were cranking them drinks out one by one. Excellent in what they do. The drinks were great, grilled prawns and wild mushrooms pastas were excellent. Chicken parm, this time was a miss. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and cocktails. Also the dessert, highly recommend the Cinnabon with vanilla ice cream. Wow, it went down very well. Hoping next time will outdo this.
