I really liked the food but the menu was limited. We were one of only two tables of ppl there despite a lot of places being crowded since it was New Year's Day and a lot of people were out despite it being 24 degrees. It was warm inside and that's what I cared about. We tried the stuffed mushrooms which were amazing. I also got the Caesar salad which arrived tossed in dressing but not too much. I felt sad for them for not having more ppl in there but from the outside I wasn't sure if it was open. I just like exploring and discovering new places despite the level of crowded. As an Italian American, I take pride in my heritage and our food traditions. That's why my experience at Vincent's Restaurant last night, during the San Gennaro Feast, was such a disappointment. I ordered a Margherita pizza--simple, classic, and a true test of any Italian kitchen. What I received was one of the worst pizzas I've ever had. The crust was clearly pre-made, the sauce tasted like it came straight out of a jar, and the only redeeming quality was the mozzarella. For a restaurant that boasts being open since 1904, in the heart of Little Italy no less, this was nothing short of an embarrassment to the Italian culinary tradition. The food is inedible. I have eater there since I was 17 years old. That was 60 years ago. My family lived accross the street on Mott in the 1930s when they opened , and they ate there. The food , no exaggeration, you can spit it out. We had the steamed seafood , with the sauce. The sauce was awful, the seafood was steamed to the point of unchewable and tasteless. The mussels had no meat left, it was all boiled out. The bread ws still cold from being in the refrigerator, and perhaps the quality of the bread obviosly to the lowest bidding bakery. The restaurant was empty, and after we ate, we strolled, the other restaurants were all busy. We could easily see why. Word is out, even to the tourists. They should be ashamed of themselves, including the grunting waiter. Never said a word, just grunted or mumbled. read more

It kills me to have to admit this, it really does. But Vincent's, if it ever was good, is not that good anymore. I had been here in years past, and always thought of it as a staple of the neighborhood. My friends and I would debate who had the better sauces ... Vincent's or Little Charlies (long since closed). I always loved both but my heart always settled on Vincent's. Well, I have bad news. The food here is sub par. The good news is that the sauce is still top notch. Buy the medium for a nice flavor that's not too hot, or the hot, to switch things up from what you make at home, or what you can buy at a supermarket (please take note ... the "Vincent's" you can get at the supermarket, while good, is not the same Vincent's, this is the only location where you can buy it). Honestly, just skip the sit-down experience. Perhaps cost cuts to pay rent, or the lockdowns and staff shortages have taken their toll. Whatever the case, I can't in good conscience recommend you do the sit down. Buy the sauce, buy a shirt, take some pictures to show your friends, and skip everything else. For reference, we had the scungilli with medium sauce, and fried calamari with hot sauce. In both cases, the sauce stole the show, but the scungilli was so chewy it was hard to eat, and the calamari was completely limp. Clearly had not been made fresh, had been sitting out, and they just poured sauce on it. Service was far less than swift. It even took them forever to bring the check, something you'd think they want to do quickly. read more

It pains me to say this, because my family has ties to this neighborhood going back to the 1800s, but Vincent's is a shadow of its former self. For generations the restaurant has stood as a staple of the community - providing homestyle, red sauce style entrées. This was the place you would go to if you wanted linguini in clam sauce, lasagna, rigatoni in vodka sauce, or other straight forward, Italian dishes. These days I'm sad to report that the food is pretty average, at best. Frankly, I thought about giving this restaurant two stars, but probably kicked up the score a little bit based on nostalgia. The pasta is a bit soggy and bland for my taste, while the sauce probably tries to overcompensate a bit too much. The resulting dishes felt like some thing you could find at any generic, non-Italian restaurant. There was never a dish that stood out as flavorful or felt like it would provide a reason for someone to specifically seek out Vincent's for a meal. It was so upsetting, because you could feel the history of this restaurant, and so desperately wanted it to be what it once was. The rigatoni in vodka sauce is good, but not great. I've had better, I've had worse, this was right in the middle. The clam sauce, wants to go-to on the menu, just didn't quite have the same pizzazz or flavor that it used to have. The red sauce was over seasoned albeit freshly made. The service was a bit slow. I certainly understand that restaurants are struggling with this aspect of their business, but it really wasn't busy enough to take as long as it did. The ambience itself is what you'd expect, it's still has that classic Lower East Side /Little Italy vibe to it. It's just a shame the meal did not match the mood. read more

I remembered eating here 13 years ago and how good it was. Boy a lot has changed. First off we made reservations for 7:30PM. When we arrived we 7:20PM, we were told we couldn't be seated until 8PM because they were running behind. What's the point of a reservation then? The food was great but the service suffered due to short staffing. Two servers were handling the entire restaurant and bussing. Vincent's came at the recommendation of a Brooklyn-based friend as one of her family's favorite eateries. Situated under the glowing "Little Italy" sign, it's clear from the street that Vincent's is a longtime NY establishment. Boasting over 100 years in business, with free samples of their 3 signature sauces on the table at the entrance, Vincent's is the kitsch, dated Little Italy stereotype: a spinning dessert display of cannoli and cheesecake, walls lined with NY memorabilia and signed head shots, and a festive waitstaff in their matching uniforms. It's got a bit of a diner-y, hole-in-the-wall feel, casual feel. Definitely don't feel obligated to sport your Sunday Best. So, don't get me wrong - their signature sauces are delicious. They have a sweet, medium, and spicy. I'm a big fan of spice, but not really when it comes to Italian dishes. Unless it's a sausage or something, I'd rather my taste buds focus on the herbs, cheese, and carbs. However, the medium sauce had the perfect amount of kick. Prices are about what you'd expect for a NY restaurant, if not a little more expensive. I'd say just slightly pricier than an Olive Garden. Unfortunately, I could also compare the taste of the food to an Olive Garden. They do provide fresh, hot bread for the table. It's super yummy - and might have been the highlight. Be sure to ask for oil and vinegar. They have both a traditional balsamic and a spicy vinegar. I was a fan of both. For my entrée, I splurged on the $25 Shrimp Scampi. The portion was practically perfect, if not a little less than I was hoping for. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, but the sauce was a little runny and also....it was orange. Not sure where that hue came from, but it reminded me of the grease you blot off a slice of pizza. The flavor was good, but not WOW. Especially for $25. My friends ordered the lobster ravioli and substituted the Vodka sauce for their house sweet red sauce. They described their meal as "subpar." The service wasn't super fantastic. While the staff was nice, we had a few different waiters throughout the night, and we waited ages to get our check and pay for our meal. Overall, I'm not sure I'd run back here. I'm sure there's better Italian to be had in the city. Vincent's is more of a tourist attraction, and I wasn't particularly impressed with the food. Maybe sticking to a simple pasta and sauce is the trick here. read more

I've been here twice with my family and loved it both times! Their pizza is amazing but pricey- a staggering $15.95-16.95 for a personal sized pie but worth every bite. They have one of the best pizzas I've ever tasted. The crust and dough have a nice bite and crisp to it. The sauce is delicious and plentiful. The cheese is generous and melty and ooey-gooey. I've tried their cannoli which has a crisp shell that cracks and breaks upon bite. It tastes fresh and pairs well with their cannoli cream which is rich and decadent. My favorite dessert there is the mixed berry tart though. It's layers of raspberries, red berries with cream and a crust. They always give you bread which is hot and crunchy. The service is good and friendly. I always make an extra effort to come here whenever I'm in Little Italy! read more

Went here last night with a friend and unfortunately was not impressed very much by the service or the food. The restaurant is spacious and pictures of the original restaurant and customers they've served covers the restaurant. They showcase their desserts of cheescake, cake, and other pasteries in display cases. My friend and I sat down and decided on an appetizer of fried calamari and entrees of penne a la vodka and linguine with sausage and meatballs. While waiting for our food a slab of cold bread with butter was brought out. I ate it because I was very hungry and I needef something to soak up the wine and martini that I drank. The fried calamari came out and it was a translucent white color. Usually fried calamari is brown, not a see through white color. It tasted rubbery and had no flavor at all. The two sauces that they brought out were nothing to sneeze at and were very bland. One was supposedly hot, but it tasted just like the other mild one, so no spice at all. After about 30 minutes after we received our appetizers our main entrees were brought out. My friends penne a la vodka was full of flavor and you could taste the mix of red pepper and other spices. My food on the other hand had no flavor whatsoever. If it wasn't for the broccoli, which did not come out until 15 minutes after our food, I would have sent it back. The broccoli was the best entree on the table. Full of garlic, pepper, and butter--so good. I added that to my linguine and it made all of the flavors pop. It is sad that I had to add the broccoli to make the linguine taste better. I am hoping that the garlic and spices really soaked in as the linguine, sauce, and meat were very sad and low on flavor. As far as the service the waiters seemed very bored and not excited to help us at all. There were tons of other Italian restaurant on this street and little Italy, so I think I will go there next time. I suggest the same to you. read more

Holy Cow! I grew up here and came to Mulberry with my dad to the old Umbertos Clam House in the 70's and 80's and in the 90's and 2000's frequented some great Italian restaurants on Mulberry. Last night we were walking the neighborhood and accidentally turned left on Mott off Mulberry and saw Vincent's. I could not believe the amazing history and all the sports and entertainment personalities that have frequented over two centuries and still do. We came back for lunch today and as an old friend used to tell me your first time eating at an Italian restaurant you get the linguini with red clam sauce and if that's good the rest is also good. So I started with eggplant rollotino and Ceci had the mozzarella and tomato (the bread is light and delicious but you have to ask for olive oil and balsamic). Outstanding! She had the cold seafood salad with grilled shrimp and I had of course the linguine and red clam sauce. Both were awesome . I had to ask for more bread to sop up the sauce. Waiter has been here 18 years. Owner kept everything going and staff paid during COVID! This is a real gem and you have to know about this place to come here because you won't see it on Mulberry and there is no one outside offering free wine to dine! If your a tourist from out of state or the country you must try this New York institution. read more

Every time I come to New York, I make it a point to visit Vincent's in Little Italy. A family owned and operated restaurant, I always feel like part of the family once I walked through the front doors. It's very easy to find this place, right next to the Little Italy sign on Mott Street. It's cool to walk around and take a look at all the pictures of the famous Italians that have visited and signed a picture. Mine and my boyfriend's personal favorites was of the cast of The Godfather and Goodfellows. We started off with the Vincent's Special, which is the cappuccino with a little bit of liquor mixed in. So yummy and warming on a cold and snowy day! We also had the garlic bread, chicken fettuccine, and the spaghetti with meat balls. It was so hearty and delicious! You can tell that a lot of love was put into making our meals. My fettuccine has the right amount of sauce, making it creamy and tasty. And who doesn't love garlic bread? For dessert, we had the cannoli cake. I love cannolis, but this cake was what dreams were made of. So moist and sweet. I can't wait to come back next year! The only reason for 4 stars is that the service itself was slow. Other than that, great experience! read more

This restaurant is over 100 year old and was near our Air BnB. Four friends and I were delighted with our meal. My friend and I enjoyed a pitcher of Sangria. Baskets of bread were passed along with plates of lasagna, eggplant parm and regular spaghetti. One could select mild or hot sauce. I felt like we got a true Italian meal in little Italy. I came here for lunch with my Dad. He really had a craving for linguine with white clam. It has been a few years since I've been to this Vincent's, as I usually opt for Chinese food in this area. I went to the Vincent's in New Hyde Park more recently and it was just OK but really overrated. This Little Italy location, however, used to have an amazing friend calamari with spicy marinara sauce and it also has a retro sort of charm to it so we gave it another try. The clams used here are definitely fresh and the pasta was flavorful, but not the best I have ever had or even close. The bread was also nothing special and in a dish with a lot of sauce, bread is important. I may come back and have the calamari if I'm around anyway, but probably won't go out of my way for this place. read more

Stopped in here for a nice dinner before seeing a show on a Thursday night. The place was pretty empty, and pretty run down looking, but for being 114 years old, I was willing to let that one slide. For how deserted the restaurant was, the service was pretty slow, but we had time, so I let that one pass as well. My boyfriend ordered the Little Neck Blue Point Clams for himself, and the House Salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette for us to share. The salad was iceberg lettuce, which I hate, and the dressing was unappetizing. The Little Neck Clams were served like oysters, not steamed, which my boyfriend said was inedible. He choked down all but one, not wanting to waste an almost $9 appetizer. The drinks, a Chianti or my boyfriend and a Cosmopolitan for me (I had to have at least one while I was in NY) were pretty subpar as well for the price. We then ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo to share, and he ordered a side of meatballs. The Fettuccine Alfredo was the best I have ever had! The sauce consistency was perfect, not too watery or too thick. That's next to impossible to find with Alfredo sauce, almost no one gets it just right. The noodles were the cooked just right, and the size was just under what most fettuccine noodles are, sopraffino! And the flavor... Oh the flavor!! Not too rich or too bland, just the perfect amount of flavor, extremely addictive. I don't know if that was just luck, or that Vincent's has just perfected Fettuccine Alfredo. My boyfriend isn't a fan of Fettuccine Alfredo, but LOVED this one. We devoured every bite. He was also in HEAVEN with his order of meatballs. He said they were close to the best he's ever had as well. Overall, I'd come back here, if I were ever in NY again, and just order the Fettuccine Alfredo. That was more than worth a repeat meal. But it definitely wasn't at the top of my list for best overall restaurant experience on my trip to NYC. read more

NYC classic ...been eating there since i was 4 years old ...my Dad was born on Mott St , My Godfather had the pork store across the street "Fretta Bros" and my cousin family still has the oldest Bakery down the block .. My Godmother lived in building where Vincents is ...along with some wonderful men whom im still friends with this day ... Its a New York legend ...was there last night and best Calamari & Squinguilli in the citt along with the best Oysters on the half shell .. Prices are more than fair for NYC ...Oysters go for 3 dollar a piece in most places ..Vincents ..19 bucks a dozen ...ya cant beat it .. And only place that still has good Squinguilli not canned s***...waiters are best , typical nyc guys ...not because they all know me theyll treat you right too ... A must see for those who have never been and worth the repeat for those who haven't been in a while ...cool & casual place ...great food at great prices and go walk around try ROMA for some dessert up on Mulberry St ...another friend of mine and yours too read more
