I am currently biting into the amazing soft buttery bread at this amazingly delicious Italian eatery before I get my favorite dish, the homemade chicken cannelloni, brought out to me! I remember eating here almost on a daily basis while studying for the bar because 1. The food quality never fails here and I don't think I've ever been disappointed by any dish, 2. There are a ridiculous amount of delicious options on their menu so there's always variety, and 3. The service is great! They have cheap beers and delicious Italian food for an amazing price. I have never had such great Italian food for the price that they offer for it. It's good fancy restaurant quality food at a not so fancy restaurant. Viztango is a small place near USC. It's a good place to eat if you're a college student who thinks cardboard topped with sauces and goo is tasty. My chicken Parmesan was hard, chewy, and tasted like cardboard. It was almost so chewy that it could have been jerky. The Caesar salad had an overwhelming fish smell to it (someone overdid it with the anchovies) and I couldn't finish eating it. The bread was over-baked and you could probably knock someone out with it. The ice tea was pretty tasty, though. The folks that work at the counter are okay, though. They can competently take your order. But someone needs to fire the cook. The fucker must be back there smoking crack or something. read more

Salad pizza? Isn't that an oxymoron or something? I was a little skeptical at first. Lettuce on pizza, sounds kinda weird right? Well its anything but weird. Its delicious. Its a thin crust pizza baked with toppings of tomatoes, mixed greens, avocados, Feta cheese, red onions and sour cream without tomato sauce. Comes drizzled with just the right amount of olive oil and basil. The best part was that the dough was thin, crispy, and didn't overwhelm the toppings like others tend to do. I think I prefer Pasta Roma's bread to Viztango's, but I prefer Viztango's food to Pasta Roma's. My favorite dishes are the Homemade Ravioli, Chicken Cannelloni, and the Chinese Chicken Salad. I almost always get the ravioli though. It is so good! It definitely tastes homemade, and I like the soft dough. The pink sauce they pour on top of it is really good too. They usually have a discount on that student discount card that people hand out towards the beginning of the semester, and they also have some sort of stamp cards and after you spend certain amounts of money, you can earn free food items. I have a strong emotional tie to this place, as I've been going there since 2006 as a USC student. I love the homemade ravioli, and sometimes I still get a craving so strong for it that I just have to go. Its fresh, delicious... light enough yet indulgent enough. As a student I loved their rewards program. Stopped in here after the Bernie Sanders rally for a beer and some grub. I must say I was very pleasantly surprised! I had the chicken parm sandwich...very tasty! I saw others with plates of pasta, they all looked fantastic - very large portions. The staff was very friendly as well. My friend and I lost track of time while we chatted and drank our beers, and didnt notice it was past their closing time. The staff let us finish without rushing us at all. The person working behind the counter was very friendly and greeted us with a smile. Not at all what I expected from a little place like that. This is my favorite Italian place. I am not a big fan of Italian food, but this place is simple and good. Their appetizer bread was wonderful. With a bit of vinegar and olive oil, the bread was the best. And, the bread is FREE!! The CHICKEN PARMESAN SANDWICH with the caesar salad is my husband favorite. The chicken was really flavorful and juicy. The breading on the chicken was not too much. It was just perfect. The bread of the sandwich was crispy. My favorite is EGGPLANT PARMESAN WITH PASTA. The eggplant slices were thick. Even my husband doesn't really like eggplant, he likes the eggplant parmesan from this place. The pasta was simple and good. 5 stars is way too generous for this place. For catering and eating there, the food is not bad. It is Italian food that isn't quite upscale and delicious but with the combination of decent prices, becomes a student's dream come true. However, if money is no object, well...definitely should try another place. But since I am still in school and have to watch the spending, I will continue to eat here and savor the good food/good prices. Try the chicken marsala, steak sandwich or greek salad. Quick, easy and delicious. Parking is tiny but hey it's L.A. Very casual dining but great menu options, you get your pasta, pizza, and grilled meats in addition of salads & bread. Homemade Fried Ravioli: These were definitely fried. Fried to a point that they don't even look like Raviolis. (see the picture.) Thai Chicken Pizza: Drier then Thai is suppose to be. Paradise Tea: Taste like cheap tea bag peach tea. Delivery: He called to say he arrived even though I asked to call before he left so I could be waiting downstairs. The security door to my building was open since the maintenance man was working above the door... It was lunchtime and my stomach was growling like a mama bear so I looked on Yelp and found this place delivers. I ordered the Vodka Penne w/Chicken, a mixed green salad w/ranch dressing, and a diet Coke. A friendly delivery person arrived promptly within 30 minutes with my order. The food was tasty but I was a little disappointed with the few little pieces of chicken rationed. Is there a poultry shortage I don't know about? C'mon guys it's ok to serve meat. I was a "frequent flier" at this restaurant until last Friday. I received two confirmation texts from Grubhub telling me my food was being prepared and would soon be on its' way. Then, after waiting for over 45 minutes, a third text from Grubhub telling me my order had been canceled because the restaurant "was too busy." This is apparently an acceptable excuse for Grubhub, but not for me. **Maybe I didn't make myself clear in my original post. The issue was with Viztango, not GrubHub. Grubhub was just passing along the message from whomever canceled my order at the last minute at Viztango. Your restaurant's excuse was they were "too busy" to fulfill their obligation and it took them about 45 minutes to tell Grubhub they were canceling my order, which is terrible service in my opinion. read more

I ordered the mozzarella sticks and the Seafood Pasta. Both were a disaster. The mozzarella sticks weren't cooked correctly (hot on the outside, cold and hard on the inside) and the seafood pasta barely had any seafood in it. Once mussel, two shrimp, one clam, maybe 5 little calamari rings. Not exaggerating. Said my order would be delivered in one hour, it took an hour and forty five minutes. I have been dining here for over ten years and always loved my experience. Tonight, was the last time I step foot in this place. I walked in at 8pm. The girl working so rudely refused to let us dine in when their hours are posted until 10pm everywhere. She said they actually close at nine and she needs an hour to close. So really you mean you close at 8. Not 9. If you closed at 9, you accept customers until 9. She had no remorse for her extreme attitude and claimed to be the manager, mind you she was a teen. We live in Newport Beach now, but go out of our way to stop at Viztango when we are in LA. We explained we couldn't take it to go because we live an hour away. While we sat and waited, no fewer than ten groups walked in wanting to dine only for her to deny everyone. She then started BLASTING her music to make us uncomfortable. The atmosphere is really chill, it's not too loud even though never been during rush hour. You walk up and order your food (I recommend the Cajun Chicken Pasta). Then sit down and they'll bring you free bread while you wait for your food! The pastas are really good and they give a lot. The pizzas are also good although the Carne Asada Pizza has a little too much lime on it. Overall I really like this place and plan to keep on coming back for more! read more

My sister and I came after school for a quick bite to eat and to kill time since it was rush hour. She got the chicken burger with fries and I order the chicken cannelloni. The bread was really soft and tasty, our food, however, was not very good. My sister said the burger was "alright" but my order was... not good. The stuffing did not taste nor look like chicken or veggies or food for that matter. It looked grayish and had the consistency of mashed potatoes. I love cooking and often analyze food to see what was in it. I could not tell what was in the stuffing. I ate 1.5 cannellonis before realizing this may not be good for me. Bistango is one of the few places to eat arond USC that fits within my diet of only eating at places that don't advertise on television. So I eat here a lot. No matter how good a place is, if you eat there a couple times a week, you'll get tired of it. That's why I can only write a fair review for Bistango after a long, Bistango hiatus. It's pretty solid italian food. It's not some place to take a date for a great meal, but as far as daily food, not a bad deal. You can place an order online, too. They also cater for large groups, if that's your thing. They've got a pretty solid menu - pizza, pasta, salads, sandwiches, and entrees. This place is located in a strip mall right next to USC, so that should give you an example of the atmosphere. Upon walking in, you'll notice the plethora of food photos plastered throughout the restaurant. The staff is friendly and the service is good, which is why there's 2 stars. We ordered the Greek and Caesar Salad to start, which came with way too much dressing, and the Greek Salad came out super salty. We ordered the spaghetti and meatballs along with cannelloni. The pasta sauce was really watery and the taste... I'll just end it here by saying everything was over salted, and after a few bites, we ended up leaving. I don't understand what's so great about this place. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. I'm just not sure. Going to USC has its perks, but I'm always up for something new. I've always heard of Viztango Cafe through students and catered events on campus, so only naturally did I want to try it. I ordered the Ahi Tuna burger with fries. First thing i should mention is that the cashier asked me how i would like it cooked. I've never been asked that about fish but only beef. So I just said, "cooked enough". The food came out within 15 minutes which didn't really bother me at all, and I was just ready to dive in. As I took my first bite into the burger, I realized shortly after I had to take drink so much water after every bite as the fish was so dry!!! I've never had fish cooked so poorly before. The one plus that I experienced here was the price. The items were relatively on the cheaper end which is great for budgeting college students. Its good (good without the exclamation point). The only items that are worth ordering are the steaks (even thought the quality isnt the best), the buffalo wings, the salads and the soups. I must say, when they have it, the mushroom and the brocolli soup are pretty tasty. Its close to where i work and they deliver so that helps. Especially, since the parking can get pretty hectic especially on fridays. The pizza is okay and I dont think Ive had a pasta dish there, that i have liked. The pasta dishes (other than ur traditional spaghetti or ravioli) always lack some flavor. If u want good food and ur in that plaza go to La Taquiza for some bomb fish tacos!!! My friend ordered a bottled diet coke, which to her surprise- was expired! November 2014. Wow. My chicken penne pasta was sub par. It lacked taste. There was no seasoning. The "sauce" was very oil based. Which made me feel that the pasta wasn't drained fully. The portion was large, but it lacked flavor. The focaccia bread was good. This college eatery is just that. Okay, this isn't the best Italian food I've ever had, but as a USC college student, I absolutely LOVE this place! I always and only get the Pesto Pasta, so I am a little biased, but it is so good! And the portions are huge! I always have to take half of it home--which is a good thing because it acts as the next day's lunch for a struggling college student. And the bread! They always bring out fresh hot bread and all the condiments you need are right on the table--balsamic vinegar, olive oil, red pepper flakes, parmesan cheese, salt and pepper.
