If I need a quick fix for italian food and I'm near USC, I go here. This an old time favorite from my USC days. The prices are cheap, the portoins are good and the food is delicious. I wouldn't drive out here just to eat here (hence the 3 stars). I like their baked salmon pasta, but a little too much sauce. I like their Farfalle Pesto because it's not too saucy and I like the texture of pesto. Service is OK. The seating can get a little crowded too. It's in a small little plaza so parking can be full (though we've found parking each time). read more

I'd never eaten pesto before this restaurant. Their pesto is absolutely AMAZING, and has made pesto my new favorite pasta sauce. I'm not a big fan of pasta to begin with, but this place is delicious, cheap, and generous with portions. Their dishes come with a side of breadsticks, and they also offer sandwiches and salad. Though the place is small, it has great quality food at low prices. Additionally, the atmosphere is often brimming with students, despite its small side. My only complaint is that it is a bit far from campus (walking-wise), especially at night as a girl. I get creeped on more often than not. I really should give Viztango 2.5 stars to show that it's nominally better than Pasta Roma (which I awarded a 2) but I... just... can't. Must round down. I wouldn't particularly recommend anyone to eat at Viztango, but it does serve its purpose as a go-to fast food Italian place when I'm too lazy to make myself a meal (or when I'm craving carbs like a mad man). The two dishes I would recommend: pesto farfalle & homemade ravioli. The homemade ravioli is a surprising find here. It comes out slightly overcooked but the dough tastes decent. It's unlike the traditional thick ravioli dough. It's a bit thinner and more translucent. The pesto farfalle is a decent find as well. The sun dried tomatoes are a nice addition to the creamy pesto. I'm not really a fan of the side bread there. It must be because I'm usually ordering my dishes as delivery. It takes only a few minutes for the bread to cool and become a not so soft mess :( read more

Meh. It's cheap and it's fast, but those are the only 2 reasons why I would come here. I like my noodles a little more al dente, and all of the pasta dishes I've tried here are on the bland side. The first time I ate here, I was sitting at a table that was near the bathroom, and I kept smelling "bathroom" throughout my meal. I'm not sure if it was that particular day or this could have been completely psychological -- but to be on the safe side, I make sure to sit as far away from the bathroom as I can on subsequent visits. read more

Used to come here a lot as a USC student. Used to live around the corner from here and this was almost a weekly occurrence. Parking - terrible lot, gets really crowded, and just general headache. Ambiance - order at counter, eat at your table. Usually not too crowded, but it's nothing fancy. Food - Had almost everything on the menu. Some are hits while some are misses. Found myself getting the Farfelle Tequila on a regular basis as it was one of the better dishes. Eggplant parm was better than the Chicken version. Overall - thought it was good at the time. But, since moving 3-4 miles away to downtown, I have not been back, even when I was in the area. Verdict - decent food for location, but would not go out of your way. read more

I have to agree with Sunny D. on the amazing salad pizza. Seriously folks, try this surprisingly refreshing dish! I love Viztango... because its near by, the joint is hot pink, they give you stuffed animals instead of numbers, there's great deals, they have a picture menu, so many vegetarian options, and a card on which you accumulate points towards free menu items for every dollar you spend! I like this place - it's close to USC (or rather zemeckis) it has a kick ass chinese chicken salad, it's pasta is usually ok, and it's relatively quick. Also the ceasar salad is great as long as there isn't too many anchovies visiting the dressing that day (it is sometimes hit or miss in other words) sometimes the waitstaff is a little...but I don't go there for the ambiance...just for the quick meal when I need it. read more

Never really thriled with my food at Bistango, but it's quick, easy and inexpensive. The menu covers all the Italian classics and a bit more. The walls are covered in pictures of the food if that's any indication what kind of place this is. The farfalle with pesto, sundried tomato, chicken and pine nuts is my absolute favorite. This review isn't for the restaurant. It's for the pasta truck version of this place. The "taco truck" version of it is parked close by where I work. Having exhausted all the places that serve edible and semi-edible food, I was so excited to see a new addition to the things I can feed Barney the Tapeworm (my imaginary tapeworm). I ordered the Farfelle Pesto. I didn't like it. It looked completely different from the picture on their menu. I was expecting pasta coated in what looked like freshly made pesto tossed with perfect slivers of sundried tomatoes. I should've read the description more carefully. Instead, I allowed my hunger to override my better judgement because I pointed to the picture of this dish while yelling "I WANT THIS!!! MMM MMM FEED ME NOW!" Talk about being careful what you wish for because what I got was overly soggy farfalle that looked less like lacy bow ties and more like slightly used handkerchiefs. The picture of the sauce looks freshly made. The pesto sauce my pasta was swimming in was oily and obscenely creamy and cheesy. I think it gave me an acute case of lactose intolerance in addition to ensuring I just gained a thin coating of plaque in the walls of my arteries. Thanks, Viztango. I personally don't like cream sauces but if you do, then you'll like this dish. I'm willing to try something else from this pasta truck but I'm sticking to red sauces from now on. This little Italian cafe serves a load of pasta dishes, and if you're dining in you get herbal bread served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar to dip in. However, even though the food looks and smells delicious, there are some downfalls. Upon my visit, the bread was dry, the olive oil lacked that earthy aroma that compliments its taste, and yes the sauces and the fillings for the eggplant ravioli parmigiana was satisfactory to the pallet, but the ravioli dough was chewy as if over cooked, then left out to dry and gain a rubbery consistency. Not the best pasta i've had, but perhaps adequate for it's price range, with each dish averaging 7-8 dollars. They also serve a variety of salads, of which were quite good. read more

We ordered delivery from here so no idea about the physical location. Also no idea how this place has even three stars. The food is absolutely repulsive. Lasagne tasted like they boiled the meat and then slapped cheese and gluelike pasta around it, topped with flavorless canned sauce. Ravioli? Went in the trash. Gummiest, most disgusting pasta I have EVER tasted. Salad? I'm 90 percent sure they don't even bother to wash the lettuce. Loses a star because name change is worse than Puff Daddy's, or P. Diddy's or whatever he calls himself these days. Loses another star because focaccia appetizer bread quality has declined rapidly. From soft, supple, to yucky, spongey. Kinda like...never mind. But for generous portions and tastiness, good choice for college kids. This restaurant did not satisfy our needs. We ordered our food, two calamaris and the pasta w/meat sauce, over the phone and had it delivered to my apartment, which is a mile and a half away from the restaurant. The food took over an hour to get here and the calamari was cold fried batter. There was little to no calamari in the dish, and when there was it looked like it was freeze dried. The complementary bread we received was stale/cold and the pasta dish was bland. Food was repulsive and would recommend others to stay away. read more

I have eaten here before and have really enjoyed myself. However the last time I went will most likely be the very last time I ever will go. I ordered the chicken canelloni and it was just horrible. The meat and the pasta were very dry. Not only that but the "ground chicken" had a bad flavor and there were pieces of the joints in my chicken. The white softer part of the bone. It doesn't happen to often where I get a plate of food so bad that I just stop eating it all together. Very disappointed. Super good pasta for a great price! I come here whenever I don't want to cook for a day and their portions are big enough that I have both lunch and dinner. I usually get the bowtie pesto and my roommate goes for the carbonara and both are really good and filled with delicious carbs. Also, the bread you get is really good -- especially if you dip it in the olive oil and parmesan they have at the table. If you're a USC student, showing your USCard gets you a 10% discount. read more

This is not a high profile eatery, however if you are looking for quick, inexpensive fresh Italian food then Viztango (formerly known as Bistango) is your place. It's in a mini-mall a few blocks from USC, so the area isn't the best, and parking isn't any better. I advise going after the lunch hour rush. You will find your experience much more pleasant. Viztango is a great place when you are hungry, in the area, and want a GREAT deal on food. Quick tip...you can park behind the Jack N the Box across the street without worrying about getting towed. read more

I was searching for a place around USC that makes good pizza and Vistango's was the recommendation that I received as being the "best" pizza place around USC. Well...I'll have to say, if this is the best pizza, I'm thoroughly disappointed! My order on both visits: Large pepperoni, mushroom & olive pizza. Seems simple right? The first time, I called it in and went to pick it up. Being so hungry, we busted it open and started eating it in the car. Half-way back home we realized that there was NO SAUCE on the pizza!? My first reaction: is this even possible? Yes, apparently it is. After calling and inquiring about the missing sauce, I was basically told that I was lying but that they would make me a new pizza if I could get back to the café in 5 min - before they close! Needless to say, I didn't get my sauce. The second time (thinking the first time was a glitch), we decided to eat at the café. It was a Saturday afternoon and not particularly busy (one other table was occupied). Our order was the same: Large pepperoni, mushroom & olive. This time I order "extra" sauce, just in case. The pizza came out in good time and this time--the pepperoni was missing! Not one slice. The person who took the order was apologetic, but we then had to wait even longer. They cooked the pepperoni and threw it on top of the pizza. And for requesting extra sauce, it was also barely perceptible. Thumbs down, AGAIN! Once all of the ingredients were on the pizza, the result: so-so. read more

I had the chicken parmesan which was pretty good, but seemed a little burned on the edges. That didn't really bother me too much. I wish the chicken wasn't tenderized so thin. Meh. I've experienced better. We were really excited about Viztango after reading Yelp and had HIGH hopes for the future... alas we were very disappointed. We ordered Linguini Artichini and Farfalle Pesto for delivery (mostly because Tuesdays=$4.99 pasta). It smelled awesome, but.... the smell was deceiving. Definitely comparable to EVK's pasta, but maybe a little bit better. It tastes better/more decent with lots of salt. For what we paid, the quantities were quite generous. The pastas were pretty filling, but not satisfying. We plan on dining in and seeing if our experience is better (also, because we now have $24 worth of credit from campus cred), but definitely not ordering delivery again!! I have been coming here for a very long time. I live in the area. Unfortunately the past 2 times have been a disappointment. There is one lady which is pretty rude and doesn't seem to have any friendliness or customer service about her. I always order the same 4-5 dishes as my family already has their favorites. The food did not taste good, especially my Cajun Chicken Pasta. It had no flavor and had a bad smell. The bread they give with the meal was pretty stale as if it had been sitting for a while. Even through tough times I have been trying to support the business in my neighborhood, but now I have to reconsider. read more

I love that this place gives great portions, with reasonable prizes and just all around good food. I haven't tried everything on the menu but whatever I have tried has been good.
