M y wife & I was at Wasabi in Greenfield IN 2 days ago for dinner. Upon eating my leftovers today I found what appeared to be a stem in my food. Upon further inspection it was a roach or cricket or some similar bug. I threw up immediately. I kept the food, container, receipt and the chewed up bug. I considered calling the health department but I think a refund would be more appropriate. Maybe in the future they shouldn't roll the food to be cooked out on the bottom of the carts 6" off the floor. Not only can bugs apparently hop on for a ride, what about dirt off the cart wheels, the floor, the shoes of the cook etc? Gross. If I don't receive a refund in the next day I will report this to the health department. read more

Horrible sushi. Absolutely was not fresh, and truthfully I couldn't even finish it. I truly do not recommend this place to anyone. Someone's going to eventually get sick from this. There were flys flying around that I had to continue to swat away. So I'm assuming that the kitchen has to be just as bad. I am a true believer of not messing with peoples businesses, but I don't feel right giving this a positive recommendation to anybody. Ruined date night and fat shaming.. I did have a 5 star review for Wasabi in Greenfield but I feel compelled to change it. I hate to do this because the cooks and waitresses there are great. We usually drive over to Wasabi at least once a month (almost an hour drive) The owner lady has been rude in the past (hurrying us out the door when we didn't finish our food/drinks fast enough) but we overlooked it.. We drove over again for date night on 11/18/23 and called prior to make reservations. After 30-40 minutes of waiting and over 30 minutes past reservation time we were told we could sit in sushi area and have the kitchen make Hibachi. I refused as the entire point of coming here is the entertainment of Teppanyaki style cooking. A large group came in after us and they had a reservation for 14 but 2 of their party wasn't coming. They graciously offered to let us sit with them as our party of 4 ended up being a party of 2. The owner lady started to sit them and they told her we were sitting with them..... she said no I was too big and made a "fat wide gesture" with her hands in front of everyone.. I'm not easily offended but it turned me off to want to spend $100 or so there for 2 people as I usually do with tips. She oh sorry I was joking laughed and walked off. The large party all told us that they hated she said that and insulted me. Well I hated it too because this was one of our favorite date night spots. My Wife told her we are leaving and she said.. see you next time like nothing even happened.. There is more to running a business than money, it's not funny or even remotely okay to judge a customer in any way. The restaurant needs to use NAMES when calling for reservations. There were four reservations on New Year's Eve for 7:00; two large groups of ten, and two small groups of five. One of the small groups was ours. When calling for the reservations, all that was said was "7:00 for ten, 7:00 for ten, 7:00 for five, and 7:00 for five". When the lady (actually very nice and sincere) called for the five person reservations at 7, another group (who had no reservation) stepped forward and said "Actually we have six". They stood right in front of me while I was attempting to tell her I was here, and took the reservation out from under us. It is now 8pm and we still have not been sat. If you are taking reservations, you MUST call them by NAME! The food is great here though so that's why it's two stars. read more

Honestly I keep giving this restaurant another try and hate writing bad reviews but the last time I ordered Togo food will be my last visit. I've found hair in my food while dining in and nothing was done about it, they just threw away the food item. The wait time is always longer than what they quote when you pick up Togo food, over 30 minutes. The food is very poor quality. I spent $70 for lunch and the chicken hibachi was dry and the breading on the mistake Roll and shrimp tempura tasted old and rubbery. I never expected to find Sushi in Greenfield, yet here we are. I must admit, food, service, cleanliness, all rose above my expectations. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a STELLAR experience, but it was certainly above average. We ordered a variety of rolls. My favorite was the Jolly Hot roll. So we opted for a smaller table in another room, where apparently caused amnesia, because once the server brought our food, she vanished, never to be seen again. The lettuce in the salad was wilted, and the hostess kept returning to move extra chairs from our table, when there was a room behind us full of chairs. The chicken yakitori appetizer was brought with my meal and was so over cooked it was crunchy. The steak hibachi meal was very good, though it had passed medium done quite a bit. Overall, a miss. My husband and I used to go to the same Japanese kitchen every year for our dataversary, but we moved across town, and last year, it just wasn't as good. So this year we decided to go to one a little closer to us, and bonus: they have yakatori. Our old spot didn't. It's a standard hibachi grill: broth and salad to start were both decent. Came in to a dirty entry way, dust all over the lights and the carpets/floor is not well swept. The chef or whoever in the back was busy yelling at their employees so my family and I got to listen to that. Family and I also watched as a women walked back and forth to the Kroger down the strip and buy alcohol that they later sold to other customers... that doesn't sound legal but whatever. We came for the hibachi dinner and the chef was very entertaining and kids friendly. We ordered two sushi rolls, three hibachi combos and 1 kids hibachi for my family of 5 and we were filled. It took awhile for the hibachi chef to come, but the sushi rolls came very quickly. Overall the hibachi meals were too salty. One of our order was chicken and shrimps, but the chicken was over cooked and so dry. The steak was over cooked as well, but thank god that I ordered medium rare , so it became medium and still editable. The restaurant interior was relatively dark and all curtains were closed. The chairs and tables were dirty, very sticky and you would see oil marks on your hand if you touch the back of the chair. The floor was sticky too and food were on the floor smushed. The waitress was not too attentive, only showed up when we ordered and toward the end of the meal to give us a bill. read more

I was a loyal customer of this establishment for several years now. However, the appalling lack of service and treatment of paying customers has made me decide to never come back and give them my business. I had an online pickup order for 6:10. I placed this order at 4:30. I waited over an hour for my order. During that hour, the owner/manager brought other orders out to other people who had waited an exceptionally long time for a reserved pickup time. Every single time, she would remember that I, too, was waiting, and would tell me "I make your sushi now." This happened about 5 times. Finally, an order comes out and she tells me it's mine. I am almost home when I receive a call that it's the wrong one, and mine was finally ready. When I returned, I asked for a discount. In a NASTY tone, she tells me "It's already been charged. You get no discount." I told her that I would then never return, and she shrugs and nonchalantly replied "Fine, ok," and points to the door, as if she doesn't care about her customers. My first time visiting this restaurant. I went with a group of guys and this turned out to be a good time. I had been told that the scallops were very good from the guys that had been there previously. I ordered the chicken and scallops which comes with fried rice, grilled vegetables and Miso soup. The Miso soup was very good, the fried rice, chicken and veggies were good. The scallops were as advertised but I would have liked a bigger portion. The chef cooks right in front of you and was entertaining. None of us had sushi so not sure of the quality. When I go back I will have to try some! Ordered take out due to COVID-19 restrictions. I ordered Hibachi Chicken and my daughter ordered Sushi. The Hibachi Chicken was barely edible, the chicken was hard and dry. The vegetables were also barely cooked. Fried rice was mediocre. My daughter liked her Sushi but we had also ordered an appetizer of the pork dumplings. They looked nothing like dumplings we have ever had before, they were microscopic. I won't be back, can't speak for my daughter. read more

When I called and talked to the owner about the missing items, she replied, "oh, am I in trouble?" in a baby voice. The last straw was she wanted to charge a dollar for yum yum sauce with Togo orders, even though it's free in the store. I wasn't asking for extra, I just wanted the sauces that come with the meal. You pay the same price for Togo orders as you do if you eat in, so I should get the same food items. It's been dirty (I am shocked they haven't been cited by the health department) and slow and the food is never ready on time. Li Li has been rude the past 4-5 visits. I keep giving her more chances. The food is not as good anymore and the portion sizes are getting smaller and smaller, but the prices are going up. I will never go back. read more

My order of shrimp tempura, seaweed salad and chicken fried rice was ready within the 20 minutes the hostess guesstimated, and handed over, neatly bagged, with a smile. You get what you pay for and worse.... Worst hibachi experience ever. Made reservations for 6 turns but only 5 of us could attend. That completely threw the manager/terrible hostess off. Was in way over her head. Still had to wait because she could not grasp that everyone was in fact present. And walk ins were seated before reservations. After waiting a solid 20 minutes we were seated by the manager who slammed the dirty menus on our plates that we were to eat off of.... followed by very poor service. Asked for a few cubes of ice for the extreme hot soup that was served to my small child and was completely ignored and was so rude to our whole table. There was steak and chicken ordered at the table and all were cooked with the same utensils with out being wiped down... cross contaminated.... was asked how we wanted our steaks cooked but it didn't matter you were getting WELL DONE no matter how you wanted it.... went to the bathroom and every toilet was dirty with poop or pee in them. And barely any water was coming out of the sink. This place need some serious work or to be shut down for lack of care. Can't imagine they are going the extra mile to follow COVID procedures if the most basic upkeep and care is not being done. Wouldn't recommend this place. One of the best hibachi places I've been to, including out of all of Indy as well. My mom and I have came here from time to time for the past 2 years and we've always been super happy with the food we've gotten. The best soup and salad as well in my opinion. Don't expect it to be a super fancy restaurant though. It's got great food but could use some updates, which I think is its only downfall! I cannot in good conscience recommend this place for sushi. It's ridiculously overpriced & the rice does not have a trace of vinegar, salt, or sugar flavor. If you understand what I meant by that, don't order sushi here & stick with the hibachi dishes. The chirashi was $20, did not come with a salad or soup, and maybe had ~$4 of fish on it. See attached photo with and without garnishes. I would happily pay that price for tender al-dente perfectly seasoned rice with amazing buttery soft pieces of fish. Sadly this dish was mostly surami (cheap fake crab), a small piece of shrimp, marinated (not fresh) mackerel, some sad tuna, a tiny piece of octopus, some other sub-optimal piece of fish, and one really good piece of salmon.
