Came for a Friday night dinner, overall this lands as a low 4 star for me, right on the edge of if I'd come back or just enjoy it as a one time try. Food is the big one, they had some unique offerings and overall it was quality. The whole cauliflower is a sight to see! It's cooked and seasoned well, the only caution is it is a hefty portion, we ended up with about a quarter left splitting it between 4. The chicken sandwich app was the clear winner for me, I ordered a second as a savory dessert. The chicken is crispy and juicy, the bun though is the unique spin which makes it. Would suggest getting a side of the spicy Korean bbq and dipping! Tacos were ok, true shell was crunchy and unique though the chicken in the middle was a bit more of a mush like slow cooker chicken. Flavor was ok. The crispy rice bites were nice though very small for the price. Stuck rice in any of the dishes was great and the poke bowl was fresh and flavorful. The skewers were fun and quite a variety, the main knock here would be the sauces seemed to blend together and not highlight the meat or veggie enough. The space was ok, we sat on the patio and had a space for 4 tucked back in a corner. Service was also just ok, potentially a new person but wasn't what I'd look for in a 5 star stop. read more

Came in with 2 other couples for brunch on a Sunday late morning. They have a great combination of some Asian flavors with American classics. Their bubble waffles were fluffy and just sweet enough. The fried chicken thighs were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Our server was very nice and totally fine with bringing a fourth round of coffee refills. It pains us to write this review because this restaurant has been such a hit with everybody else. We were excited to try this restaurant for the food and drinks. Alyssa and I were seated quickly in the back patio which had a nice heat lamp to keep us warm. Our server was quick to help us. I ordered an old fashioned- the drink I usually get to "feel out" a place. It was not good...like hard to finish. I'm not sure what it was... maybe the bourbon whisky they used? I feel like they forgot the sugar cube/simple syrup which made it worse because the liquor that was used didn't taste good by itself. Fortunately Alyssa ordered a Penicillin which is also a whisky based drink with ginger. It was very well made! For dinner, we started with the spicy tuna crispy sushi rice. It was a unique dish and I appreciate the concept. It was definitely under salted and not spicy. We should have tried the smoke salmon version instead. I ordered the bourbon glazed grilled salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly and tasted great! However, it was atop a salty mess of sweet potato, onion, bok choy and chinese sausage. It was not edible. Therefore, I couldn't finish half the dish. Alyssa's cripsy grouper sandwich came with a side of fries. The sandwich overall had a good flavor. If you are in the mood for fried fish, it was a fine entree. With the combination of the breading on the fish and a thick bun, there was overall too much bread present on this dish. The french fries were epic though! Best thing we ate at this restaurant and the only thing we finished completely. Not sure we will go back to this restaurant in the near future. Great spot for a chill night with friends. Candy was our server, and she was great! We never waited on anything and she was personable. We all started with the Shishito Peppers and Peruvian Chicken Gyoza Tacos. The aioli with the peppers was super creamy and tasty. The chicken tacos were fresh, and they came out super fast. Our cocktails never disappointed. I recommend anything on the cocktail menu. I got the WB burger and it came with two (2) 4 oz beef patties, with a full setup, and it was super delicious. 10/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND! If you're thinking about it, just stop now and head on over. Everything was prepared to perfection. The mimosas were quite strong. This surprised me, but I won't say that we didn't enjoy it The Caribbean Coffee was pretty tasty, but I am not a huge coffee lover so I would not recommend this drink to anyone who doesn't love coffee AND rum. We didn't get digital photos of the Brussels sprouts appetizer, but WOAH. I'm typically one to shy away from Brussels sprouts and lean towards asparagus or kale so they shocked me! They are a bit firm, with crisped outer layers, tossed in a sweet balsamic tasting sauce (I'm struggling to remember what it actually is, but it's delicious) with thick cut bacon, perfectly crisped and an over easy fried egg, on top. Magnificent! If you try nothing else, try these! Key lime pie is my all time favorite dessert so I had to try the key lime bar. I ordered mine without the coconut, so this photo isn't a true representation of what you'd get (unless you order it without coconut like I did :) ) The bar is very tart, with a really rich Graham cracker crust. I would have to say this is very yummy, but not my favorite. I'm going to rate this 8/10 and this is simply because the bar is very tart, but the whipped cream isn't sweet (in my opinion) enough to compliment and tone down that tart filling. If you prefer more tartness and less sweetness this might be an 11/10 because it's very well crafted. My sister-in-law loved her warm brownie sundae. Our server was very nice. It was pretty busy on the patio so we didn't interact with our server very much, but she did bring everything we needed for our meal and got us checked out fairly quickly. We really enjoyed the heated patio seating. There was a fan right above our table that had wooden blades and spun just gently enough to provide what felt like a natural breeze. LOVE Whiskey Bird and so happy to live a stone's throw away. Their "Little Bird" to go window has come in so clutch when picking up take out during the pandemic. A friend and I dined in for brunch today. We did not have reservations and came around 1pm on a Sunday. The place was poppin'. The hostess quoted me 1 hour & 15 minutes for a table for 2. You can sign up to get a text when the table is ready. There's a few other businesses and shops to browse around, plus you can get drinks at the Little Bird window to kill time. We got a round of frose from the window and only waited around 30 minutes from putting our name down before getting a text our table was ready. We were seated on one of their multiple patios. It was covered and had fans, which was absolutely perfect on a hot day. Here is what we got: -Frose: our batch was pretty icy. it does have hints of grapefruit and is a bit tart. It didn't taste that strong, but was refreshing. I would probs rather get a cocktail. -Nola cold brew: basically cold brew with bourbon. They give a small cup of cream on the side in case you want it. It'll def put some hair on your chest! -Caribbean iced coffee: idk if this is what it was called but it was iced coffee or cold brew, baileys, rum, and coconut cream. "Caribbean" was definitely in the name. Similar to the other coffee cocktail but sweeter. I preferred this one! -Crispy brussels: Literally the best brussel sprouts I've ever had. They come with bonito flakes, veryyy crispy bacon, an egg, and a magic combination of sauces. This is how you get people to eat their veggies, y'all! So good and a huge portion. Definitely can share between a few people. Will be dreaming of these tonight. -Gyoza tacos with spicy ahi tuna: comes with 2 tacos. Tuna tasted very fresh. No complaints here. Love the crispy shell. -Bao benedict: the sauce on this thing is bangin'. I'll take smoked gouda fondue over hollandaise any day. Eggs perfectly poached. I would have liked the option of a seared pork belly or something instead of the chicken sausage. Pork belly just goes so well in bao buns. The dish comes with a side salad with vinaigrette. Would definitely get this again for that cheese sauce. Our server was Madison and she took really good care of us and was super personable. She was delightful! I had a good time here with two friends from out of town. I like the nicer but still casual vibe, and the menu is Asian fusion while still having some interesting surprises. The menu is not huge but there should be enough variety for everyone's tastes. We just shared several appetizers because those caught our eye the most. For the food, the yakitori "whole shebang" is great to share and has some hits and misses - personally my favorites were the chimichurri shrimp, stuffed peppers, and mushrooms (super juicy!), while I didn't care for the crispy meatball as much. Came here again during COVID to celebrate one of my last finals of college. We didn't really come for the food, just drinks, and that was a mistake. Because of COVID, they limited their menu to their best sellers and none of them looked that good. We walked in on a weekday evening but you should probably make reservations if you want outdoor/patio seating. My friends and I got the Whole Shebang (one of each of their yakitori flavors) as an app to our drinks. It was pretty underwhelming and smaller than I remembered. My friend and I got their frozen drinks - she got a dreamsicle and I got a frose. Her drink was definitely better than mine and they both came in really small cups that were the size of my palm. I thought at first $8 was a good price but after seeing the size I was like "... oh... no wonder..." I also then got a spicy Mexico City at the recommendation of our waiter and it was not spicy nor did it taste like alcohol. It honestly tasted like some diluted margarita mix with spices and was super small in portion. I think I drank it in 3 gulps. I think the servers were all standard nice but had an awkward encounter? In my past visit while it was busier for dinner I had a great time. This time, another server accidentally gave us another Whole Shebang probably for another table and ended up taking our plate away even though there was small bits and pieces of food... she hesitated in asking if we still wanted it and at that point we were like "... it's okay..." since she already grabbed the plate. Homegirl needs to get her head in the game. Overall a very disappointing re-visit with a limited menu of apparently their "top sellers" that didn't look that special to me. This place specializes in "American fare with an Asian accent" When I researched this place I didn't realize that they specialized in small plates. Normally I'm fine with really small portions but after driving all morning and snacking on small nibbles, I didn't want small nibbles, small portions or small plates, I was hungry and ready to eat. The Happy Hour menu was my saving grace on Saturday they had some full size menu items and the flavors were really good and different. A friend tried the Whiskey Dog and really enjoyed the toppings and flavors. I had some really unusual but tasty fries with a drizzle of an Asian inspired sauce and tuna flakes, etc. Small plates were about 3.50 to 5.00 dollars each and were about 3-5 bites of food each! If you are hungry this can really add up! Tried the chicken satay, flavorful but tiny and the chicken tacos which reminded me of playing tea party as a little girl, the taco was awkwardly small, I don't know where u find a taco shell that tiny??? We were greeted by a wonderful aroma on the way in. The hostess desk was a little further in the restaurant (not right inside the door). We were a party of 9 and came a little early for our reservation, but they promptly accommodated us with our seats. The restaurant was decorated very modern with a large area for the bar with lots of wine on the shelf. The Frosé in the machine caught my eye on the way in and I couldn't resist myself and got one. What a perfect beverage for this warm day. It was really tasty. We order almost everything off the brunch menu amongst all of us. The Hong Kong fried chicken and waffle was my favorite. The chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The bubble waffle was also cooked with a slight crisp on the outside. The syrup really complimented for the sweet and savory deliciousness. The avocado toast was fantastic as well. The thick slice of bread has just enough avocado on top and the smoked salmon was a wonderful combination. The chorizo and sweet potato hash was full of flavor in each bite and the salad was dressed perfectly. I didn't try any of the quinoa bowl, but it seems full of fresh ingredients. What a fun, modern place to dine at! This is the perfect spot for date nights, work dinners, or having a nice meal with friends. We had a table of 9 and the service was great! Super friendly waitstaff that was accomodating to our frequent changes of head count and reservation time, and they let us enjoy our time throughout the evening. We never felt pressured to leave, even after we were done eating. The food was fantastic - I only snapped a pic of my entree but we also got the brussels, cauliflower, chicken sliders, and dip duo. I'd say the brussels were my favorite of them all but each app was delicious. My chicken was solid and I'm a big fan of the sushi rice as opposed to jasmine rice. My only note of constructive criticism is that when our entrees arrived, we had to tell them who got what as opposed to the staff knowing who had what. I think details like that are what really make a place stand out and I hope Whiskey Bird can train their employees to adopt that detail. Otherwise, truly a great experience here. I tried the whiskey sour and my son had a ruby something which is their take on a Manhattan, both well prepared, fun and delicious. Decided to try two starters, the crispy brussel sprouts (absolute best I've ever had) and the Hong Kong chicken sliders which underwhelmed but you are competing with the city that started Chick Filet so pretty high bar. I went for the salmon and my son the steak frites, both delicious Asian fusion dishes the we enjoyed and finished both to the last bite. My husband and I had brunch at Whiskey Bird this past Saturday when we were visiting Atlanta for my birthday. We made a reservation that day, but there were very few slots left (so reservations definitely aren't a bad idea). While they have a brunch menu with items like avocado toast, bao benedict, fried chicken and bubble waffle, etc., we decided to share a few small items so we could try more of the menu. We tried four items from the yakitori menu: crispy chicken meatball (with cilantro lime crema), pork tenderloin (with spicy gochujang bbq glaze), pork belly (with ponzu brown butter), and charred octopus (with chinese sausage and yuzu kosho aioli). All of them were pretty good, but none so good that I'd have to order them again if I went back to Whiskey Bird. We got one order of each of the gyoza tacos (each order comes with two tacos): Peruvian chicken (with aji pepper sauce and cotija cheese), Hawaiian tuna (with cucumber, mango, and avocado), and al pastor (with braised pork, grilled pineapple salsa, cilantro lime crema). The taco "shells" are fried wonton wrappers, which was a fun twist. My favorite was the al pastor, but my husband preferred the chicken. The tuna taco really needed the lime wedges they served on the side (as it was a bit bland otherwise). We also tried two of the "Hong Kong sliders" - sliders made from bao buns (it's one slider cut in half for a serving). We tried one of the fried chicken (with dill pickle and wb sauce), and one of the saltine-crusted fish (with yuzu caper tartar). The chicken slider was good, but the saltine-crusted fish "slider" was my favorite, as the fish was perfectly cooked. It was the best bite of food I had during the meal. The restaurant is pretty, and the service was good. While we liked everything we tried, I enjoyed the concept of the dishes more than the actual taste. Everything felt a little flat to me. However, it was a fun meal - and the menu is definitely on the more creative side. If we lived in Atlanta, I'd probably give it a second shot to wow me. As we live in Nashville and only visit Atlanta occasionally, it didn't impress me enough to keep it on the list of places I'd return to on a next visit. read more
