We love Whiskey cake and have been coming here just about every Saturday morning for brunch for months now with our last visit here being 12/9/23 and they did not disappoint. The staff here are very friendly from the time you walk in until you are ready to leave. We always sit at the bar because we have a favorite bartender, her names Lyndsey and she's been there since before we started going there. Depending what time you go it could be easy to find a seat at the bar, it's a good size bar too and they recently got new bar seats that are nicer than the last ones! We can be somewhat creatures of habit going to some of our favorite places and this is one of them. We always order the farmer's breakfast and Lyndsey always says hi, and ask if we are doing our usual. I keep saying one day I'm going to change my order but why mess up a good thing. The food here has always been consistently good, comes out hot and tastes delicious! I always get cranberry mimosas! I may do a mimosa flight when we later today. They also have amazing bloody Mary's and lots of craft cocktails too. It's also a nice place to watch sports while you eat, or hang out with your family and friends, have some drinks and enjoy the atmosphere! They also take reservations here too. They have a good vibe during brunch and plan to try dinner here one day! Also, my mom had carrot cake pancakes when she came with us once. Those were sinfully delicious!! I had to try a bite. I will absolutely be back for Happy Hour. Next, the appetizer menu was amazing. I had such a hard time picking one. It was just the food highlight of the meal. Our entrees themselves were not as good as our app or drinks. Ha! My partner ordered braised beef, and complimented the cauliflower parsnip mash which you don't often get a parsnip. He said the beef was rather like a pot roast and could have been better prepared. As for me, the menu has no vegan entree. There was a vegetarian plate, but it didn't sound appetizing and the side that came with the roast chicken was mouth watering: butternut squash farro! Turns out, had I been paying attention I could have just ordered the side for $6 without ordering the chicken ha! Anyway, the farro was delicious and the chicken was a bit dry. Except for the Whiskey Cake that thing needs to be enshrined in the dessert hall of fame if there is one. Service is slow for brunch but not too mad at the casual pace. Chicken and waffles had a cold egg on top which pretty much made us gag. I've had the pork chop and other apps on previous visits but everything just seems to be average at best for the price point. Coming back to this favorite years after moving out of state and it lived up to the pedestal I've placed it on all this time. The Bloody Mary station is wonderful with everything from a variety of hot sauces, bacon, pickled fresh veggies, chili flakes...I could go on! Just order a Bloody Mary and craft it your way! The biggest challenge with the menu is knowing you can't quite order it all. The appetizers are incredibly well crafted. Goat cheese dip, deviled eggs and duck wings are all big hits! This round, I had the Croquet madame-it ...and dammit, it was fantastic. The first bite was orgasmic. Perfectly toasted sourdough, bacon, fried green tomatoes with tomato chutney, covered in sunny side up eggs...oh my word...don't skip out on this, it was one of the best things I've eaten in months. We had an amazing experience! This was our first time and came for an early Sunday brunch. The coffee comes as a French press and the mimosa was perfect. It's a full scratch kitchen with very fresh ingredients. I enjoyed the avocado toast and a side of bacon. Both were delicious and left room to try the whiskey cake. It's come with fresh whip cream. One of my favorite restaurants in the Dallas Fort Worth area. Since moving back to California, this is definitely one of the places I miss the most. Met a friend here for dinner. We shared a couple of appetizers, the deviled eggs and goat cheese fondue. I had never tried the deviled eggs before which I guess are chefs choice. This iteration included mushroom and sage which was delicious! Another fan favorite is their goat cheese fondue.. definitely a staple and must try. I'm not a fan of goat cheese, but I do love this dish. For entree, I ordered a chicken and cheese melt which was incredibly good! It had an avocado garlic aioli sauce which really made it. I want to go back right now. This place had such a great menu, I couldn't handle it. And the drinks! It's hard for my husband, who doesn't drink alcohol, to find non-alcoholic options that don't suck, but here! They have several great options! I do drink alcohol, and I wanted everything, but I too went with their non-alcoholic Jessica Wabbit. I'm a sucker for ginger, what can I say. We sat at the bar because that was the only seating available in under a 30-45 min wait. The bartenders were kind and speedy. The food came out in maybe five minutes? It was so delicious. I had the farmer's breakfast and my husband had the Benedict and we shared. I think the Benedict and those white poblano grits were the outstanding winners, but we cleaned our plates entirely. My daughters drink was less than half way filled and when we asked for more orange juice we were declined as it was "freshly squeezed" orange juice was the reasoning. I paid $2.25 for a cup of orange juice that wasn't even half way filled. That was a huge disappointment. My hot chicken sandwich was good until I was crunching on egg shells. That was really gross and I stopped eating it. My friend choked on her French press coffee as coffee beans was swallowed. My waiter was not attentive. I gave up in asking for a bag. Dear Waitress, here's the reason why I only tipped you on the meal. I asked you if I could have regular coffee, which I couldn't find on the menu. You brought me a huge carafe for which I was charged $6.50! I only wanted a cup of coffee. Sorry I dinged you on the rip off, but I did ask you about the coffee, and you blew me off. I'm assuming you didn't feel well and didn't want to be working on Sunday, which I understand. If not, you never once smiled the entire meal. The breakfast menu starts around $20. I didn't expect to pay close to $30. Note to others -- coffee costs $6.50. And there's a reason why the price is not on the menu. If I hadn't been there with a group, I would have refused to pay for the coffee. I gave 4 stars, because the food was good. Must mention it was ear deafening noisy, noisy, noisy. Yesterday I was headed down the tollway towards downtown for a meeting but came to a standstill due to an accident. My associate and I had a conference call instead and I pulled over and had lunch at whiskey Cake instead. Whiskey Cake is one of my all-time favorite go to and I don't frequent nearly enough! Is located right off of the North Dallas tollway in Plano. Walking into the door I loved that they had local products for sale supporting vendors in the area. The decor of the restaurant is rustic with a touch of farm glam. The menu boasts some amazing combinations that you are sure not to see elsewhere. They had a deviled egg appetizer and the spin on it was it was a beet pickled egg topped with a peach and bacon reduction. Yes, please. I got a cup of the wagu chili and the sandwich on special which was a lightly battered and fried shrimp po' boy served with coleslaw and chips. Food containers to go for the yummy left overs! First, the SERVICE was phenomenal! I start with that because, unfortunately, nowadays that can really be awful... but we had an amazing experience at WC! From the host/ess, our server, and the bar manager (*face palm smack* I can't remember his name) everyone was sooo nice and attentive! We had a side room for a company gathering. Our servers were excellent, and ensured that, even with a larger party size, everyone was accommodated and taken care of. Service was excellent, in other words. The food was great. We had a variety of appetizer snacks brought out that were all very tasty. Craft cocktails were offered as well. I had a sazerac but there were many good choices, including more unique ones. The sazerac was well done. The food was delicious also. I had the steak frites, and the Mac and cheese is an excellent side dish. Very good. But if you come here, the critical dish is dessert. The whiskey cake. A chocolate cake with a bourbon glaze. Met some friends for lunch yesterday. Was disappointed that they removed the OMG burger. Decided on the half sandwich and soup. The was tasty but had these super super super hard chunks of bread in it. They tasted like they had been sitting around for weeks. Anyway I removed them because the soup was good without them. Previously we've eaten at the Stafford TX location. (Near the Woodlands.) The service there was great. Food was good. Actually that's what made us choose this restaurant when in Plano recently. What a dining out disappointment. The restaurant was super loud. It's not a relaxing place to have dinner, but if you're looking for a place to get together with a group of friends wanting to party . . . We started off in the bar. That was a very positive experience. The bartender (female - can't remember her name to give her credit) was excellent and did a great job of making everyone's cocktails to perfection. We had reservations and were seated on time. Our waiter was not the warmest host, but hey, everyone has a bad day every now and then, so I'm going to overlook his unpleasantness and the fact that he was not a good waiter. (Even kept forgetting to bring our drinks. We were not asking for anything unusual, nor were we demanding. He was just unpleasant from the start.) The food was nothing special. It was way over-salted and mediocre at best. I don't think I've ever complained about my food being over m-salted, but if you eat here tell them to hold the salt. This restaurant is along the lines of a Chili's with a bar. Maybe it was a bad night? We might give it another go but there are so many other places in that immediate area that I'd rather try instead. If you've read my other posts, you know when we like a place we frequent it often. Went here for my sister's birthday and they even had a little signed Happy Birthday card on our reserved table! Service was good and host was nice when we asked for a photo at the front :) The inside is also beautiful - each table accompanied with a smalll candle and plant in a light bulb. The Deviled Eggs were AMAZING - the flavors change and this time around it was so good! The Fried Green Tomatoes were also especially notable - probably the best I've ever had.
