Fish with mushy peas and chips that are French fries however in a very different shape than you will ever find at your local burger joint. I tried their curry sauce which I've never had with true English fish and chips and I'm happy to say it's really good. Closer to gravy with a hint of curry than a traditional curry sauce, it's fantastic with the potatoes. Besides the long waits to get your food which may not be avoidable as long as they are dealing with the constraints of a good 6 cart, I would like them to be a little more flexible with their menu. You can't add an extra piece of fish which would make it easier for parents trying to feed time children who probably can't eat a full order. Most of them texted in their order because there were a lot of orders ahead of ours handed to people who showed up while we waited. It's in a parking lot without anywhere to sit, so does anyone know how it tastes fresh from fryer, I wondered. They don't ask you if you want it to go, now that I think about it. All food is handed over in a box splashed with the Union Jack. I was excited to try the chowder combo and P ordered the fish combo with curry sauce and 3 wings. The $1.75 wings are super tiny. They looked like something you'd feed to your dolls. The chowder was good for dipping the chips in, but the fish was stringy and ruined the overall texture. P said his fish was mostly batter and since he didn't like the curry sauce, was rather bland. We enjoyed the chips, but not enough to return. This is Vancouver's hidden gem! I went on a Monday (holiday) at 5pm so it was not crowded. Unfortunately, they were out of a couple of their selections, but I was there for the basics. #1 Fish, Chips and Smashed Peas. Ever since The Toffee Club closed, we've been looking for a good fish n chips spot. We decided to try this place based on some neighborhood hype. Food: Pretty good. We ordered 3 combos. Mine was cooked nicely and had good flavor. My wife said hers was a little over cooked and dry. The chips were 8/10. Not a fan of the small shape but that is a preference thing I suppose. They were appropriately crispy. The fish chowder was the surprise star. Sadly, the only drink options are canned sodas. Service: Friendly and pretty fast. No complaints. Location: Ok this is where things fall apart. It's a good cart and that is fine but the parking lot is a depressing place on the side of a busy road. The dilapidated mega church looks like it used to be a k-mart or something. There are no tables or chairs. So you're either eating in your car or driving home. Fish n chips don't travel well so you're likely eating in your car. As I mentioned, the only drink options are canned soda. This is a meal that needs a pint of beer to wash it down. Not an option here. The only napkins are in packaged plastic with disposable cutlery. Seems wasteful. If you took this food cart and moved it out of one of the most depressing spots in Vancouver, it would be a five star experience. The food is good enough to earn 4 stars but it seems like a wasted opportunity. It's a long drive from Portland and the food isn't quite good enough to make it worth it. It's just not enough of an experience. I'd happily drive the 30 minutes if it was in a nicer spot and beer was available. Here's to hoping they move to a nicer parking lot some day. read more

We have seen the truck several times and finally went last night. We got several dishes that covered everything they sell, fish, wings, chips, mushy peas, curry sauce, tartar sauce. First, it is possibly the best grid fish we have ever had. Fantastic breading, fish light and flaky, nice big pieces and fried to a perfect golden brown. Absolutely perfect for all four orders. The tartar sauce is perfect. Many place pump it full of onion. This was not that. It was perfect, creamy, pickle, delicious. The curry sauce was also good. The mushy peas were creamy and delicious. Think split peas soup only thicker and with more body. The fries are curly little morsels cut in an half moon shape and were perfectly cooked. The prices for what you get are very reasonable. The people working inside were friendly and helpful. The said 10-12 minutes and that is what it took for our order. A truly great food experience. We will definitely be back to Winston's. read more

There was a steady line of customers, and I was so happy to see malt vinegar packets available at the truck so I could put my own malt on the chips. Everything was fried perfectly, the breading on the fish was so delicious my 7 year old ate more than I did.
