my friend and i came here about an hour before closing, and when we arrived, we were told that we would have to order and eat quickly since we came in late. so if you're planning to visit, i'd definitely recommend coming a little earlier. we ordered a ton of food from the menu: popcorn chicken, pork xiao long bao, shrimp zucchini shaomai, beef shaomai, chicken mushroom shaomai, garlic green beans, braised noodles, hand-pulled noodles, mapo tofu rice bowl, braised beef rice bowl, and boba milk tea. we started with the boba milk tea and noodle dishes, and they were all so delicious. the milk tea had a really strong tea flavor, which i personally prefer. the braised noodles were probably one of my favorite dishes because they had that comforting, home-cooked flavor to them. the hand-pulled noodles were also really flavorful without being too spicy. after trying these first, we had pretty high expectations for the rest of the meal. unfortunately, most of the other dishes were pretty lackluster. despite this being a dumpling-focused restaurant, we didn't really love any of the xiao long bao or shaomai. the shaomai had this flower-shaped piece of dough coming out of the top that had an almost paper-like texture. i know it's supposed to be one of their unique touches, but honestly, neither of us liked it. i didn't feel like it added anything to the dumplings and, if anything, took away from the overall texture and flavor. the fillings themselves also weren't very memorable, and some of the dumplings felt surprisingly dry, especially considering they were supposed to be soup dumplings. the rice bowls weren't really for me either. i had never tried mapo tofu before, so i didn't have much to compare it to, but my friend, who's a fan of the dish, said it tasted weird compared to what she's used to. the braised beef rice bowl also had a texture that i didn't really enjoy. the beef was almost slimy to me, and overall, it wasn't very flavorful. apart from the food, the service also wasn't great. i completely understand that we came in close to closing time, but our server made us feel pretty rushed throughout the meal. he brought us to-go boxes and reminded us to eat quickly since they were closing, even though there were still other customers dining inside. there was actually another table still sitting there when we left, which made the whole experience feel a little uncomfortable.

We went to Xibei Dumplings in a Sunday afternoon and were seated right away. We had the cucumber salad, popcorn chicken, ribs and spicy wontons. Everything was delicious, the service was good, the server was nice and we received our order fast, and the place was clean. Process are reasonable. There are tables inside and outside, you can also take out. Metered street parking is available, I didn't see a parking lot. I love that they provide gloves, toothpicks and floss pics when you order ribs.

First time here! Ordered the beef dumplings! So yummy! I'll definitely be back when I'm on the area. I'll have to try more items on the menu. The prices are decent for the quality of food. Very nice lady who works there and is welcoming.

Service is excellent and the food came in a speedy manner! Def a casual eat out! Dumplings are okay, the dumpling skin is very thin, and the meat inside ate basically the meatballs you get for homemade Chinese soup. $12 + tax for 4 dumplings def a $$$

This place used to be Dong Po (one of my favorite restaurants) I guess management changed? Anyways, the food is still pretty much similar to dong po and taste is amazing. The duck is so delicious no gameyness at all. Pretty much everything we got was super yummy except the fish with pickled mustard greens, it didn't have that strong peppercorn taste or the sourness too it. I will definitely be back for the duck~

We stumbled upon Xibei Dumplings after shopping at the Silverlake Baggu store. What a treat!! A cute little restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The service was phenomenal very fast and friendly. The food was delicious we ordered a couple of appetizers and shared the braised pork noodles. The veggie dumplings, cucumber salad, and veggie egg rolls are a must have!! Thank you so much Xibei Dumplings for a fantastic dinner

I went on a week day for lunch, it was quiet with a few other people dining inside. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered the angus beef shaomai, pan fried beef shaomai, shrimp zucchini shaomai, scallion pancake, & popcorn chicken. All of the shaomai are fresh made to order and well filled. The popcorn chicken is so crispy and delicious! My top favorites are the shrimp zucchini shaomai & popcorn chicken! Parking- metered street parking

We ordered the chicken/mushroom fried dumplings, the boiled beef dumplings, wood ear mushrooms, shrimp/zucchini steamed dumplings, and Dan Dan Noodles. Everything was delicate and delicious. Very fresh! We also enjoyed speaking with our server. She was so nice and eager for us to enjoy the food. My husband and I live in Santa Monica and enjoy dumplings in San Gabriel Valley, Mason's Dumplings in Highland Park, Din Tai Fung, and Pine and Crane. Xibei Dumplings is on this "favorites" list.

Great little lunch spot, so glad to have checked it out! Some small tables inside and a few outside tables as well. Food was ready very quickly after we ordered, and it was hot and fresh. Service was quick and friendly, and they had a refrigerated section inside with some canned sodas and teas to drink. The standouts for me that I definitely am coming back for are the Shrimp & Zucchini Shaomai, Popcorn Chicken, and the Scallion Pancakes, although everything tasted wonderful. It's a spot that is good for sharing so that you can order a bunch of things and try more stuff. I would say it definitely is living up to the hype I have seen online and is worth checking out!

Probably the best dumplings/ steamed shao mais in this area if you venture out of the 626. Honestly I was hesitant but so intrigued... keep an open mind and their dumplings will knock your socks off. The skin was thin, every bite was packed with filling- that wrapper to filling ratio was awesome. They're super fast about it too! The rice plates and other sides were pretty fine and ok. The wood ear sides honestly not my fav take (it was too sweet for my preference), but honestly I'll come back just to eat the dumplings.

Xibei Dumplings is showcasing some amazing hand-wrapped shaomais and Northwestern style Chinese cuisine in their first U.S. based location in Silverlake! To get here, street parking will be your best bet and there is a lot of it throughout the area. This is a more fast casual spot with about 5-6 tables for seating inside and a 3-4 additional tables in their patio. For their menu, they have a nice selection of different shaomais to choose from along with some main dishes and appetizers. I stopped by for some lunch with the Phamily and we got a spread of the Angus-Beef Shaomai, Lamb Shaomai, Shrimp & Zucchini Shaomai, Chinese Pork Burger, Popcorn Chicken, Scallion Pancake, Wood-ear Mushroom Salad, and the Cucumber Salad. Everything was flavorful with authentic and comforting flavors. My personal faves were the Angus-Beef Shaomai and the Chinese Pork Burger. Overall, I am glad I got to check this spot out. It is located in a great neighborhood with lots of other shops to peruse before or after eating. All of the staff here are very friendly and accommodating. Xibei Dumplings welcome to America!

Located in Silverlake, Xibei is an authentic Chinese spot serving some of the most unique dumplings I've ever seen. They're called shaomai and are handmade to order, when you order. You can watch each one crafted by hand in their open kitchen. Their menu is small but focused. The shrimp & zucchini shaomai is their most popular filling, and you can even get any of them pan-fried! And they recently added OAT noodles to their menu, which are handmade and hand-torn, and a healthy alternative to regular noodles. You have to try this Chinese version of pasta with the tomato eggplant sauce. And you've gotta go for their crystal cold noodles, orange chicken rice bowl, and Chinese pork sandwich--all hits. With an order of shaomai dumplings starting at just 10 bucks, it's a no brainer to check them out. Thanks for reading! ^-^

It was a but busy when we got there but luckily we got seared pretty shortly after arrival. We originally wanted to sit at the bar, but opted for a table for less wait time. When first looking at the menu we were shocked by the prices. I knew immediately i wanted to get the hui tou potstikers with pork and noodles. We ended up adding on the hongkong style wontons too. To my suprise the wontons arrived in a delicious and warm broth, keeping them perfectly moist and plump. The broth was so delicious even on a hot day, tasting faintly of sesame and scallion. Despite both dishes being pork they were so different and equally amazing in flavor. The pan fried potstikers which were CRISPED TO PERFECTION especially reminded me of black bean shortribs that you get from dimsum, fatty but hearty and had me wanting more and more each bite. The minced pork noodles were to no suprise, so good. Noodles tasted fresh, the sauce was umami with mushrooms and pork. While im not the biggest fan of mushrooms, i still ate it up. I feel it would be so good with some picked cabbage too to complement the saltiness. Most notable thing... THAT CHILI OIL. We probably used almost half the jar left at the table. It wasnt spicy at all, but it had this flavor that i genuinely have never tasted before. The texture of the chilli and sesame and the nutty flavor had me in awe. Enough to take two jars home... i would do it again. Servers were so quick, made sure everything we needed was at the table. Regardless of the crowd we were met with promptness and generosity. This that wonton place your girl tells you not to worry about forreal. Will be coming back despite the long drive from home.

Everything was prepared wonderfully and had tremendous flavor. I recommend trying their Hui Tou, stuffed with pork or beef, pork and leek pancakes, they also have vegetarian options. Their pork shumai was delicious, xiao long bao's soup dumplings were flavorful. Delicious. I definitely need a second trip here to try their soups and more of their variety of dumplings.

The braised pork belly was so incredibly soft and melt-in-your-mouth, and paired with the pickled carrots and cucumbers tucked into that steamed bao bun - so juicy. The way it's set up is pretty cultural. It reminds me of some hole-in-the-wall Asian restaurant the way they have metal utensils at each table. It's almost like a self-serve system to certain tools which is pretty common. I haven't drank water out of metal cup in a long time, so that was nostalgic too. We tried a variety of dishes to get a fuller understanding of their menu of what this place has to offer. I was really looking forward to the beef roll because it's usually one of my favorite dishes, but this one was disappointing. I define a good beef roll as one that's a good mix of sweet, savory and refreshing. The meat makes it savory and the veggies are supposed to counter it make the whole dish feel light. If someone disagrees with me, please share your thoughts on what a beef roll should taste like. The one from Pine & Crane was drenched in sauce. I could not taste the meat or the veggies and the whole thing tasted like a stick of sugar. The mapo tofu was on point, but this is quality you can probably make at home. The flavor profile was very similar to that of stuff you'd get a grocery store. The three cup jidori chicken came recommended, so we tried it. The flavor is very pungent and goes well with rice.
