I love this place. I've tried some other frozen yogurt places in town, but I always like this one the best. They consistently have friendly service and delicious flavors. I recently had a mix of pistachio, Health Bar, cake batter, and cookies n cream flavors. Lovely froyo crack. Yogurt Planet has fruit and candy toppings. This time I got strawberries, blueberries, and crushed Reese's but they always have kiwi, lychee, pineapple, Cap N Crunch, Rollo's, and more. This time they also had sour gummy worms, gummy bears, and Nerds, among other toppings. And right on, Minnie T. I just noticed the juicy balls for the first time yesterday! read more

I'm a big fan of places where you can get your own yogurt, apply your own toppings and just pay by weight I wish i had one near me. This one had about 10 flavors. Peanut butter, toasted marshmallow, taro, strawberry, original and quite a few others. Unless I can sample something, I'm sticking to my tried and true original. We stopped by here on Tuesday night and were reminded how much this place truly sucks. Why do we keep coming back? We usually go to Menchie's, but wanted to switch it up and this place was on our way home. We need to stop thinking it will ever be good. First of all, the person behind the counter--every time--looks like they're in detention and are always in the back, probably counting down the minutes until they can leave. It is ALWAYS absolutely filthy, and the benches have holes with stuffing coming out of them. You can see layers of dirt in the lighting. The yogurt is pretty standard and actually not that bad--they just always have the same boring flavors. The toppings are the worst! All-day-out slimy fruit and variations of cocoa pebbles. Yogurt Planet is alright - nice new store. The original Tart flavor wasn't that great here and I would stay away from mango and cheesecake altogether. I was quite disappointed that this place's green tea flavor is a bottle of self serve green tea powder that you add yourself. blech. Irish Mint, cookies and cream, and strawberry were pretty good though. For purists that really like the original tart flavor, Yogurt planet is not good. Go to Mambo Berry! Despite the store location being huge it seems like the layout isn't very efficient so on a recent visit we had to fight for seating. This used to be my favorite help yourself soft-serve place. Now it's just OK. Why? NO Asian related flavors anymore. What happened?! I liked the green tea, lychee, and taro yogurt flavors. I asked the guy behind the counter if they served "Green Tea" yogurt anymore. "NO" he responds, with no regard to the sad look I had on my face. Yea sure, the cheesecake, pomegranate, and peanut butter flavors are good, but nothing beats green tea yogurt topped with red (adzuki) beans and mochi. At least they still have those toppings...but what's the point without the green tea, lychee, or taro flavors? *sigh* OK, I get it..,maybe the taro and lychee weren't fave pics of the clientele, maybe only Asians liked those flavors, but come on, even Starbucks has a Green tea Frappucino..and they are as American as Apple Pie and Baseball. So here's how it goes: you make what you want, exactly how you want it. you want three tiny gummy bears on top, or 300? You can do it. You want half chocolate, half mango? I wouldn't recommend it, but okay, you can do that too. Grab yourself a cup, move down the line buffet style, put it on the scale. Simple. The shop is clean, the seating is limited, the customer service is non-existent because you do all the work, they just take your money. The price is fair and the topping selection is good. I would like to see more yogurt flavor variety (and they don't have all flavors every day), but for now I can mix-and-match enough different combination to keep me satisfied. This time I went fruity, with tart + strawberry + mango topped with raspberries. Next time I'll go for the chocolate and peanut butter. (A hand-out on the counter lists flavors as: Tart, Green Tea, Blueberry, Cappuccino, Vanilla, Cookies & Cream, Pistachio, Strawberry, Raspberry, Peanut Butter, Chocolate, Cheesecake, and no sugar added Vanilla. This doesn't seem entirely accurate because the day I went there was a Peach offering, and I read someone's review that says Green Tea isn't a yogurt, just a topping.) Prices are by the ounce, which kind of sucks when you only have giant cups to choose from, but I'd rather use a giant cup than try to pack a teensy cup with yogurt and toppings and have it spill over. Great yogurt! This was yogurt place #5 my husband and I have tried and so far this was the best or 2nd best tasting yogurt. It was creamy with out being watery or icy and didn't melt immediately while eating it outside like some do. Good selection of flavors and plenty of topping choices. On the minus side parking sucked _____(insert choice expletive). Mainly because of the morons who take up more then one space in their freakin Prius. Luckily I have a husband that can easily parallel park our F350 Supercrew long bed dually in a single parking space. read more

I heart Yogurt Planet. I'm a big fan of the pistachio and berry flavored yogurts. They have a massive selection of toppings and in particular, their fruit toppings are always fresh and delicious. Out of all the yogurt places I have been to in the Austin/Round Rock area, this one reminds me of what I expected a "California/Celebrity Hangout" to be. I always see pictures of celebrities eating yogurt at this types of places, but Yogurt Planet seem to be what I thought it would like. My main beef with this chain is that they only ever have one sugar free flavor. It seems like with 6 or more flavors they could have at least 2 sugar free. Also they used to have sugar free chocolate chips but those seem to have disappeared sadly. I am not a dessert person, but I love this place. I crave their froyo. I make up excuses to go to the Triangle so that I can stop in. Lots of great flavors and tons of toppings! I like to mix the tart and cake batter froyo with fruit, mochi, and almonds on top. So amazing! My only complaint is that it is a little confusing if it's your first visit, and no one working there offered any help or suggestions. My brother lives in LA, and, while I enjoy California when I visit, I'm would never trade it (with all of its traffic and pseudo-mexican food) for my Austin. I do, however, shed a tiny tear when I have to bid adios to the simplistic yogurtopia, Pinkberry. So, when I saw the pink and green banner of Yogurt Planet, my interest was piqued, but my high Pinkberry standards made me skeptical. Sure enough, Yogurt Planet has taken the Californian concept and tried to improve on it by dazzling the customer with a deluge of options in yogurt flavor, fruit, cereal, candy, etc. etc. But to me, the amount of variety was dizzying, and I ended up more stressed out over choosing my cup (more like bucket) of yogurt than I was when I bought my car. Now that I know what to expect by way of choices (and that I pay by the ounce), I can build my defenses and be prepared to face YP's great wall of yogurt with decisive restraint. Then again, sometimes a chick just needs strawberry cheesecake-pumpkin-mango-cookies'n'creme yogurt with blueberries, pineapple, reeses pieces, and fruity pebbles on top. read more

Always clean, always tasty, and an excellent variety of toppings from the typical "ice cream sundae" toppings to some of the more exotic Asian toppings. I've always liked this place, but tonight gave me a pleasant surprise -- root beer float flavored yogurt. I didn't feel nearly as guilty eating this as I would've from eating a real root beer float. A quick review - I am a big fan of Tomunchi which is pretty far up north for us but we were driving up there all the time. Yogurt Planet has more flavors of yogurt and many more toppings, however, the yogurt is a bit better at Tomunchi and their toppings are also better. As others have mentioned, the yogurt at yogurt planet is sometimes 'icey' which makes your mouth freeze up so that you can't taste all the flavors as well. Also, their toppings are not as fresh or cut up as small. I usually get Kiwis but have noticed they are crunchy as though they did cut them completely from the center of the kiwi or something. So I had to stop putting Kiwis in and the strawberries and raspberries aren't as tasty either. Still, yogurt planet is 3 minutes from our house and Tomunchi is 20 or more so we'll probably get our fix at yogurt planet (it's still very tasty) and visit Tomunchi when we are in the area. I have heard as of this writing that two more spots have already opened up... read more

I can't say that I'm a yogurt expert or anything. I don't even get yogurt all that often. But I do sometimes get a craving, and since Austin is sort of new to the frozen yogurt trend, there aren't a lot of good places to go. Yogurt Planet, though, is pretty good. What I like are the variety of yogurt flavors, and that everything is self serve. This makes this easier and cheaper, in general. The flavors themselves, however, are sometimes too strong. I really only ever get fruit flavors, and most were way too sweet. The green tea, however, was delicious. There were also a lot of toppings, including fresh fruit and asian jellies. The girl working the register when I went, however, gave me a weird look when I asked for sample cups. She also didn't want to give me more than one when I was trying to get a sample cup for my friend too. Maybe it was because the place was super busy, but it was still strange. Yogurt Planet, where have you been all my life? I've been wasting so much time and so many calories on ice cream, not knowing about your delicious existence. I love the fact that here, I only have to pay for what I want, and I have the power to control exactly how much I get. I'll admit, the big wall of pulls for the 10+ flavors was a bit overwhelming for me -- I'm a newbie at this game. But once I read the instructions, got my bearings and grabbed a cup, I went to town with my treat. The structure of this place really lets you get creative and make whatever flavor combo tickles your fancy. The yogurt was absolutely delicious and creamy, and all the toppings were fresh. From the strawberries to the chopped peanuts, I was satisfied with all of them. And at just $0.39/oz, I'm not breaking the bank with my cold little indulgence. Brilliant. This place is so good and ill tell you why. First of all they aren't stingy and actually give you tasting cups do you can try all of the flavors. Second the flavors are amazing!! I like the taro, coconut, pecan praline. Third, they have a ton of toppings!! Fresh blueberry, kiwi, mango, strawberry, and dark chocolate covered blueberries!?! Really?? Went this past weekend - yogurt is smoother, but a lot of it melted before I even sat down. They just need to run the machines more when the store is less crowded since the froyo near the pump is runny. The fruit is cut a little smaller than my previous visits. I would not go back. Don't let the three star rating fool you, it is still decent frozen yogurt and I did eat my whole cup. Problem is the competition is just to stout for me to give Yogurt Planet anymore than 3 stars. Try Tomunchi up north and you will see the difference in the yogurt. The flavors are just better and more accurate to what there description is at Tomunchi. I do think that Yogurt planet has nice decor, friendly employees, and a good local. The yogurt didn't Wow me and the topping choices were standard for any of the 1000 yogurt shops in Austin. Go if you are in the area and want yogurt but don't go out of your way to pick this place over any of your other yogurt options in town. Honestly, I found Yogurt Planet comparable to Swirll and Yogurt Spot. Although, I do like the space and open layout much better than the aforementioned yogurt stores close to campus. They didn't have tasting spoons readily available, and the cashier was on her cell phone the whole time so I didn't bother asking for one. This time, I had to go with my gut instincts. Here I had fewer flavors to choose from compared to Yogurt Spot. I ended up getting the cake batter, cheesecake, and chocolate flavored frozen yogurts. The cake batter tasted too buttery for my liking, and the cheesecake and chocolate were downright tasty, just as I suspected. The topping selection was up to par, my favorite being the cheesecake cubes and the crushed Heath Bars. My small sized cup filled all the way to the top cost $5. The toppings bar is great, fresh sliced fruits and even cheesecake bites which I approved of in generous quantity. The best thing about yogurt planet? I tried this place the first time yesterday after a friend recommended it. It's awesome! Ok, the concept is, you go in, choose your cup/bowl, go down the line of frozen yogurt self-serve machines. They have about 8 or 10 flavors available. I chose cookies 'n' cream and a bit of vanilla. Then you go on to choose any toppings you want by adding them yourself. They have easily over 20 different toppings ranging from fresh fruit, to nuts, to bits of cheesecake. There are also a variety of syrups you can add. After loading your frozen yogurt with delicious toppings, you get to the cashier, she/he weighs your cup/bowl and rings you up. The yogurt was FANTASTIC. The prices are aweome. And it's decorated very IKEA-y. Overall, it's a happenin' place. TRY IT. read more

If you've read one review about tart yogurt, you've read them all, but I'm going to add my review to the mix just because. Rather than belabor points that have already been made, I'm going to tell you some of the things that make it different from the many other yogurt places in town: 1. They are centrally located at the Triangle with easy parking 2. Unlike other purveyors of tart yogurt, they post the nutrition information on the wall above each machine, which I found to be interesting and informative 3. They offer an interesting mix of flavors that ranges from peanut butter to cookies to pomegranate and tart 4. Their topping selection is larger than all other yogurt places I have visited 5. They offer the desert that makes me think of asian girls - the one with shaved ice and millions of flavored jellies ... this is part of the reason there are so many toppings All in all, I think Yogurt Planet holds its own in the ever-flooding market of establishments that serve tart and supposedly healthy yogurt. If you ask me, it's all a fad and based on the amount of the stuff that I'm consuming, I'm not doing anything to help slow down the craze. read more

BEATS all fro-yo places i have ever been! I mean granted i love red mango's decor but this place (this location at the Triangle apt complex in particular) is absolutely wonderful! The ceiling is extremely high and the store is super comfy and family friendly as well. Fro-yo wise, my friend and i both couldn't believe they are fat free and yet so creamy! They also have a lot more fresh fruits and fun toppings! I was so impressed to find that they have longan and lychee (two pretty exotic Chinese fruits), althought they might be from a can, I totally appreciate the options! Price wise, i have a feeling that it's definitely cheaper than Swirls and Red Mango... Highly recommended for a summer day quick stop and hanging with friends and family :) read more

Price is fairly reasonable, but there's something about the yogurt that doesn't bring it to par with the originals (Red Mango, Pinkberry) and more successful ripoffs (Yoforia). The fruit toppings also don't seem as fresh as the ones they have on the coasts. Yogurt Planet is truly a "Destination" for our family. My kindergartner LOVES to fill his cup with as many flavors as possible, then heap his favorite toppings on it for the frozen-yogurt version of a Suicide (remember those, from summer trips to the 7-11, where you'd fill your Big Gulp with every flavor of soda?). My toddler daughter isn't a froyo fan, but she likes to be part of the fun by getting a scoopful of mini gummy bears in a bowl. As a mom who's forever watching fat and calories, I like the fact that I can get a fairly virtuous snack when the late-afternoon hunger strikes. I have tried a lot of the frozen yogurt places in town and Yogurt Planet is one of the two I've found that has the right consistency; where other places have icy yogurt that tastes funny, YP's product is creamy and, for the most part, doesn't taste like a chemical slurry.
