    Mixed Soft Tofu Stew
    Colin Y.

Yooni Table is an underrated gem. I had the mixed sundubu-jjigae, and it was delicious -- light umami broth, perfectly balanced with the right amount of spice, and very comforting. It was a very satisfying meal under $20. Highly recommend if you're looking for good Korean food that's affordable, filling, and well-balanced.

inside koreatown galleria shopping center...free garage parking under the building...yooni table located inside the food court...placing an order for the soodae guk (blood sausage soup) $18.60 total...scanning credit card and no request for tip..maybe the price already includes tip...regardless the prices are pretty high after covid...taking a buzzer and waiting...buzzing and going...tray with hot boiling soup, 4 sides, 1 seasoned salt and hot paste, and rice provided...soup is already fully seasoned, but add and dissolve the hot paste to add some heat to the soup...taking a blood sausage and dipping in the salt before eating...pretty good...other "meats" sliced up in the soup and using the same salt to dip...soup is slightly on the saltier side...the 4 sides were good...dumping the rice into the soup to mix half way through eating...filling lunch after work...

I grew up eating often at Korean supermarket food courts during family shopping trips, and Yooni Table is a classic, dependable, no-frills spot in the Koretown Galleria food court upstairs that reminds me of those days. It's nice to just take a long shopping break eating some delicious Korean comfort food off a plastic tray with fellow Koreans. I usually get the Yookgaejang, and it is always so flavorful and a huge portion. The indoor/outdoor cafeteria seating area is shared with the other restaurants, though I have never had an issue finding a seat. When you're done, you put your tray on one of the carts and carry-on with your day. I always say to my non-Korean friends that some of my favorite Korean food you get at a supermarket food court, and Yooni Table is a great example of this unique aspect of Korean culture.

This is my new favorite restaurant in the Galleria food court. Obviously based on my photos I keep ordering the same thing and I love it. The food here tastes very clean and fresh. We typically come first thing when it's not so busy.

I looove barley and their barley with radish kimchi was just what I needed! It was savory, crisp, and refreshing -- the banchan paired well with it as well. It came with a side of soybean paste stew which was pretty salty though, so I would recommend sticking to the main dishes!

    Seafood Tofu Soup

The most unsatisfying bowl of spicy tofu soup (soon du bu) I have ever had. This restaurant is located at the food court inside of Koreatown Galleria. I normally go to BCD when I have tofu soup cravings, but I just happened to be here to meet a friend. It was hands down a HUGE mistake. There are plenty of good food options at the Galleria food court and this place is just not one of them. From the moment I picked up my food, I knew it was not going to be pleasant. The soup had this dark red color that made it look really unappetizing. The flavor was off, and it didn't really taste like a "soup." Normally, a good soup has that refreshing feeling, and this bowl did not provide that. Even the zucchini wasn't fully cooked as it still had a crunchy texture. And don't get me started on the side dishes... they really should sample it themselves before serving it to people. It was honestly such a struggle to get through this meal. I got the seafood option (3 clams & 3-4 shrimp) and I believe that cost a bit more than the beef option. Either way, it just wasn't worth the $11, and you're better off sticking to BCD for tastier, better quality.

We came to Koreatown Galleria around 10 am, and the cafeteria was a ghost town. Yooni was one of a couple of restaurants that were open. The lady at the counter was so sweet, she even gave us extra side dishes! Water is self serve right next to the register, and everything is served in disposable containers so it's very easy to take togo. We ordered Udon, Tteokbokki and Kimbap, and Gondellaebap. I would skip the Udon, it was very plain and didn't have a lot of noodles, but it is a Korean stand after all. Everything else was great, and came with the cutest banchan togo box. My favorite dish by far was the rice bowl. It comes with Korean Miso soup that pairs great with the dish and with the banchan, is a complete and filling meal.

We were able to order in the line, and got our food within 10 minutes once we finally sat down. I tried their handmade clam kalgusku soup and beef bulgogi. Both portions were generous. The kalguksu was incredible comforting, with chewy, long, freshly made noodles in a rich, savory broth that was packed with clams. The beef bulgogi was also delicious. It came with a side of salad and rice. The bulgogi was tender, well-merinated, and paired well together with the sides. We ordered the medium bossam, galbi kalguksu, perilla seed kalguksu and spicy pork. There were 5 of us but the portions were so generous, we had enough food with some bossam left over. The bossam was amazing! The best we've tasted. We all loved the perilla seed kalguksu due to its taste and also bc it's so healthy for you. The owner came by to check how we liked the galbi kalguksu since it was a newly created dish and we told her that it was delicious, seasoned just right. Before the meal, as they brought out the side dishes, they brought out barley rice with denjang on top to mix with yeol-moo kimchi. That was a special touch. We absolutely loved the food there. I saved the info so that we can return when we visit Koreatown again in the near future. Highly recommend this place to anyone who craves exceptional Korean food.

I really wanted authentic Korean food that was not kbbq and not tofu and this place delivered! This restaurant is in a small strip mall. The strip mall has other Korean food options. They have a valet parking system of sorts but we didn't pay, we self parked. The attendant told us we were fine. It was approx 9pm when we arrived and also a week night. I have no idea how much valet parking is here. We were a small party of two. Upon arrival, we were notified they were out of RICE. Um..what?? That's a good problem (for them to have) but not for consumers. I feel this really limited our options to just soup. I honestly didn't want soup but there wasn't much else we could order. The bowls were large and came out piping hot. It was a satisfying meal and not too heavy. The price point was on the pricey side. Our waiter told us business has not been the same post covid. Some dishes are between $40-$60. I asked for a soup and they were able to make it less spicy. My friend got a soup with dumplings in it. He put a good amount of soy sauce to give the broth some life. Also, the banchan is on point. We asked for a refill and devoured the second portions. If you wanna impress friends with Korean food, bring them here! Its a casual place.

If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.
