I love this place so much. I'm ashamed to say that when I first discovered them, I ate there 3 times in the same week LOL BUT, that leads to the first thing that's good about it: the price. I think, for the portions they give, the price is really good. It's not as low as all-you-can-eat places, but it's very affordable imo (and the quality is way better than an all-you-can-eat place). The servers are the nicest people ever, the sauce area is always clean, and the food is amazing. The have an extensive menu and their soup bases/ broths are all really good. They're famous for their extra spicy broth and my friends always get that, along with other ones. I'm too weak for that sauce and I cry just watching them eat it lol, but it smells amazing. The only thing that isn't convenient is the parking. They have street parking and back lot parking, but the back lot only has about 10 spaces. It's also one-way, so if you're trying to exit, you would exit out the back and down an alley, but there are cars coming from other restaurants and it gets clogged easily. But it's just the way the buildings were situated way back when; there's not much to do about it. We like parking on the street to avoid this. Worth the stop if you're in the area! read more

I have to say this is one of the best hotpot place in town‼ I have been to most if not all hotpot place in SGV, and this place definitely has the best quality in terms of its favor, food, and service. Soup base: highly recommend their signature spicy pot, its super fragrant and flavorful. The aroma of the soup base is amazing thanks to its generous amount of spices and beef oil (in case you didn't know about it, authentic Chinese hotpot use beef oil, this is the secret why the soup base taste great). Food: One of my favorite things to order for hotpot is duck blood, black leaf tripe, goose intestine, beef aorta. And based of my experience, its one the best quality. Their hand cut beef and beef tongue, also tasted great. Overall, the quality of their vast menu items was super fresh and delicious. Service: The server were attentive and provided gave me and my friends with hair bands and she often check how we are doing throughout our meal. My friend was lucky enough to make an advanced reservation for dinner time on Sunday, so fortunately we didn't have to wait in the insane line (heard it was 240-300 minutes when we got there). When we got in we were treated like royalty, something you don't really expect at a Chinese establishment in San Gabriel Valley. Servers here are very attentive, and we're always checking up on us to see if we needed any drink refills or plates taken away. Another perk is that you can order food at anytime by scanning the QR code on your table and ordering off your phone so you don't have to wave your hand and flag someone down. If only other restaurants were like that! Food was great quality, and to be honest I don't even know the exact items my friend ordered as it was a variety of pork, beef and lamb dishes. They all went well with our bone broth, tomato soup, or spicy soup. The dipping sauces we mixed ourselves at the sauce station and were excellent. In terms of pricing goes, we went during the grand opening so the food was 42% off which ended up being $230ish total for 9 people after the discount. Really cheap! First time trying Yuan's Hotpot.. It did not disappoint! The food was fresh and had a lovely presentation. We tried the bone broth, spicy broth in mild, and the mushroom broth. Mushroom was my favorite! All of the soup bases were really good in flavor.. however, the spicy was a little too oily for me. I will definitely be back soon because the sauce bar is amazing! 0 star for front desk service. We added ourselves on the waitlist 1 hour ago. Once we checked in with the front lady, she kept saying we had to wait because there are other group in front of us. Okay. Understand. But the groups are not even on the waitlist. And they arrived 25min later than us. They do not have reservations! Oh and funny enough the lady has another manual waitlist paper to track groups. We tried to tell her that we already wait an hour ago please just tell us how long we should be expected. My parents and I came on a Saturday around 3pm. The restaurant was really empty, and we were seated right when we got there. This place reminds me of Hai Di Lao - pay per item. The cool thing about this place was the hot pot itself - it had a lion head on it and the bowl was big. Also, they give you aprons like hai di Lao does ( you can't take it home). Price: $135 for 3 people. Customer Service: not much to say here, but no complaints. Food: There were a lot of options to choose from to make your sauce which was a pro. Some options I've never seen before in a hot pot place. Another thing is that you automatically get charged for the self service bar ($3/person). I'd say it's not worth it, as there was not much side dishes, and the few that were there were empty and didn't look fresh, so we didn't really get any... Also do NOT recommend the desserts they have (ex. grass jelly), tastes like nothing and not good overall. Honestly everything was pretty mid, I don't observe much of a difference in terms of quality or flavor from this place vs an AYCE shabu place. The shabu meat ordered was beef belly and angus beef short ribs (I believe). It was good, but I honestly don't really remember much from it - just that the beef belly looked cool with the egg in the middle when we got it. My parents ordered the dishes, so I ate whatever was on our table. Nothing I ate left a lasting impression. TLDR; The fact this place isn't AYCE should be considered a scam. It could've been the items ordered, but nothing made me think, "wow! That's why this place is expensive". Found my new favorite hotpot restaurant! This place opened up a few months ago but they were running some crazy grand opening discounts and the wait times were horrendous, so I didn't get the chance to try until recently. Oh boy was the wait worth it! We popped in for dinner relatively early so we didn't have to wait at all and were seated immediately. The hostess showed us where the self-serve sauce bar and the snack bar were and then took us to our table. Each table has a QR code that you scan for the menu/ordering app, so you place orders using your phone rather than with the waitstaff directly. We ordered the two-flavor hot pot with the Yuan's ultimate spicy pot base (medium spicy level) and the tomato broth base and then chose all of our drop- ins. Everything arrived to our table extremely quickly and we began to eat. Before long I was overwhelmed by the spiciness of the hot pot broth, but in a good way lol. It was spicy and flavorful, not too much numbing sichuan peppercorn but plenty of chili pepper spice. The tomato broth was delicious as well, and a nice contrast to the spiciness of our other soup base. My favorite thing that we ordered was probably the shrimp paste, which came already portioned out into little balls that we could just drop in the soup to cook. Once cooked, they were tender and sweet. Very good, highly recommended. The snack bar was also a standout for me as they had an excellent variety of pre- and post-meal snacks such as chicken feet, smashed cucumber and garlic salad, edamame, fried sesame balls, fried taro balls, and some cold sweet dessert soups for cooling down after all the spice. I had to run to the snack bar a few times for watermelon and bing fen (ice jelly) in the middle of eating because I needed relief! Aside from the delicious food, the service was great. The waitstaff were extremely attentive and kept filling up my water. They gave us aprons at the start of our meal to keep any of the hot oil from splashing on our clothes and staining. The bathrooms were also stocked with q-tips and cotton pads to freshen up after your meal. It reminded me of the way hot pot places in China like Hai Di Lao place an emphasis on the service they provide as well as the food. I absolutely recommend Yuan's and will be back! read more

If you want stellar service, a fresh trendy ambiance, and delicious food, this is the place to go to! I think most of the bad reviews on Yelp are about the wait time. Not sure if there were just less people (at 7:30 on Sunday), but it seems like they probably fixed the issues they were having during the soft opening. The estimated wait time (30-40 min) was accurate. They also have snacks for people waiting, which is an extremely nice touch! But oh my gosh, if you're planning on visiting, please don't let your kids use their hands to grab the snacks and make a mess. They have utensils for a reason. The staff were fastidious about cleaning up the area but it's honestly disappointing that they have to clean up after other people's kids + for things to be ruined for everyone else. The hot pot was great. The spicy broth is truly not for the weak -- don't overestimate your spice tolerance when choosing the spice level!! The bone broth was surprisingly very flavorful even when placed next to the spicy broth. The beef belly was delicious. I only came with my mom and we didn't have the biggest appetite coming in, so we only ordered the basics. We'll be back to give the other dishes a try! The service was what really made our meal! I didn't get the names of our waitress and waiter but they were SO accommodating and friendly. To be fair, the food was 4 stars. However, upon arrival, there was an incident which raised a big red flag about their customer service practice. Arrived at 5:30pm, I was told they were full and the wait was about 45 minutes. As we were waiting outside, my husband saw an empty booth through the window. So I approached the waiting staff, asked whether they take any reservations. As it turns out, they do not take any reservations yet. Then, I inquired about the empty booth we saw. OMG! Menus/ordering is available via QR codes, with English & Chinese descriptions, and best of all.. pictures!! Upon arrival, we were informed of the wait time and provided options to make future reservations or check in via Yelp should the wait not be within our expectations. From check-in to the point of sitting, I would say it was about 1.5 hours, so plan accordingly. The highlights for me by order was (1) Shrimp Paste in Fungi - flavorful and unique (2) Spicy Marinated Chicken Cartilage - that perfect crunch (3) Snakehead Fish Slices - soft and flaky.
