Tried Yumlong a few weeks ago, right after their soft opening and was so glad that we went before everyone else found out about it. Nowadays there is always a line waiting out front. A lot of people compare it to Din Tai Fung, but I think it has its own character. They have fun items like wasabi and cheese xiaolong. But generally, the menu leans toward smaller portions, so you'll likely need to order a few dishes to make a full meal out of it. Prices are also a bit on the higher side considering the portion sizes, but the quality is definitely there. We started with the classic xiaolongbao. These were packed with soup--probably some of the juiciest I've had in a while. The wrappers were very delicate without falling apart, and the filling was flavorful and well-seasoned. We also ordered the thumb-sized shengjianbao, which ended up being one of my favorite dishes of the meal. Crispy on the bottom, juicy inside, and so addictive that we finished them in about five minutes. Service was amazing throughout the meal. Staff were attentive, friendly, and quick to help whenever we needed something. The interior is modern and comfortable, making it a nice place to sit down and enjoy a meal. Parking is also easy thanks to the underground garage at Atlantic Times Square. Overall, a great addition to the Monterey Park dining scene. While the portions are small and prices are a little on the premium side, the food quality, service, and atmosphere make it worth trying. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu. read more

I know this place is new and still finding its legs, but the foyer/entrance/sign in station/reception area situation is not organized very well. There should be a person directing people where to sign in and have everyone waiting to stay outside as to not crowd the space. That aside, the interior is actually really pretty. Nice accent pieces and high ceilings. The food is great, and the service is good, but it did take quite a while before we were attended to after we were first seated. Many claim (and I often agree) that you can tell about the quality of a Chinese restaurant through its sweet and sour pork. That being said, it was delicious and had the perfect balance and crispy texture. So, yes, the food is good, but they should figure out how to deal with the mob in front. read more

Spotted this new place at the Atlantic Mall and decided to check it out since they're still fresh from their grand opening! The place looks really elegant, clean, and has a super nice dining environment. Just a heads up on location: it's at the very end of the mall near Ralphs. We actually had a pretty hard time finding it because Yelp gave us the wrong directions, so keep an eye out for Ralphs! As for the food, it was a bit of a mixed bag: Xiao Long Bao (XLB): A huge plus is that they come in a half dozen (6 pieces), which Din Tai Fung doesn't even do anymore. However, unlike DTF, the skin on these was kind of rough and didn't have that super delicate pull. Dandan Noodles: Absolutely amazing! Full of flavor and easily the highlight of the meal. Spicy Wonton: Pretty ordinary, nothing to really write home about. Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs: Honestly not up to par. The meat was just way too tough/rough to enjoy. Prices are okay, but definitely not cheap. If you're looking for that pristine Din Tai Fung level experience, I think Prince Dumpling or Good Alley get a lot closer to it. Still, Yum Long is a beautiful space and worth a try if you're in the mall and craving some solid dandan noodles! read more

We started out ordering the beef chow fun which was nice and tasty for my mom who has trouble eating these days so the noodles were just right for her. I asked for a knife to cut up the beef to smaller pieces for her to eat and we both enjoyed the noodles together. As for the dumplings they were underwhelming. They were just okay as it tasted fine but nothing to write home about. My mom had better ouch eating the steamed buns over the fried ones but in general anyone can eat it with no issues. I wish they had something fantastic mixed in with the pork dumplings which brought out the flavor more. Service was on point and the meal got served to us fairly quickly. This is my new fave restaurant in the neighborhood!! Just like the name, the food is very yummy and delicious. I really love their Signature Pork Xiao Long Bao. The skin was thin but the meat was wrapped in juicy broth that gave out the richness of the pork flavor in each bite. I also ordered their Green Beans with Minced Beef, which was perfectly stir fried that I could taste the wok fire in each bite. The last item I ordered was Salt&Pepper Calamari, which was also my other personal favorite. The calamari was very crunchy mix with salty&slight spicy feeling that made this dish so perfect!!
