Yumami is a small little shop in Lincoln Heights on the corner of Broadway and Johnston. Looking at previous reviews, I decided to go with the Beef short-ribs Large order. They did not disappoint. Along with the short-ribs I went with bok choy and brown rice as my sides. The short ribs were well seasoned and really hit the spot after a long run at the gym. It was a good amount of food that left me full and satisfied. I went mid afternoon and got my order pretty quick. They offered me a seat under the awning and brought my food out to me when it was ready. Really great food and service. I would definitely recommend giving it a try if you're in the area and looking for a good meal. read more

Good service. Got the ribeye, chicken, egg noodles and mustard greens. Food tasted good, the sauce was unique. Everything was cool til I was throwing up 4 hours later. Came here excited about all the good reviews that I saw. Specifically I saw several people mention "generous portions" and that wait times were short. So I was quite disappointed that I found both of these things to be not true. I ordered the short ribs with baby bok choy and egg noodles. I felt hungrier after finishing than I was before I ate. I absolutely would have still been hungry after eating 3 portions. It also took half an hour after I ordered to get my food. Several people who ordered after me got their food first. 0 to 60 in 3 seconds! No time for make food while working on a home project, so we ordered from Yumami on a Saturday. Yelp said it was open, so we ordered 3 boxes. Chicken, Pork and Spare Ribs for our protein, brown and white rice and bok choi. It took over an hour to notice that the food never came. Found that it was closed and Yelp processed the order as it they were. Called and of course no answer form Yumami. I thought, I will call Monday and have Yelp refunded me. Fast forward to Monday about 11 am, delivery driver call and says food here for delivery. I told him that someone would be out in a second to grab it. At this moment, I appreciated my loving wife for ordering food ahead and it arriving before anyone would ask, what is for lunch. She thought, I was the sweetest husband for giving here a break from making food for the Family. Clearly, we overestimated each other. Order was processed and delivered from the Saturday fiasco. Tried this place a while ago and forgot to post. Let me just say this is one of those spots that you have to try. From the street it looks like a moving POD (actual size too). But in that small space you have two wonderful women cooking their buts off. They are not open all day so check the hours. They don't have to many items on the menu which is good because whatever they do offer, they do it well. I had the ribeye with bok choy and noodles. It came with a peanut sauce or something like it. I was very pleased with it. Great flavors and good portion. They have a small seating area in the same lot. If you're in the area and want to try something different I recommend this place.
