Came to visit Zakuro again after 3 years. A lot has changed especially the sushi chefs and servers. But their sushis remain great. Quality of the sushi are still good and the taste are so delicious! Zakuro is one of my favorite places to go eat sushi with friends or family. I love the Zakuro sushi and King Kong 2. The staffs are always so warm and welcoming when I visit, will have to visit Zakuro more often. Wish I live near Lincoln! read more

Best sushi in town! We had the best server, Alex, who recommend the PepperFin appetizer and it was bomb! I highly recommend the King Kong 2, it was huge and delicious. Just walked to this restaurant saw the reviews. First impression made us leave. The server a young brunette in a pony tail. Threw our menus on the table and walked away. Super disrespectful. We decided to walk out. We spend thousands on Sushi a year and love to recommend. Haven't tried this place and due to its customer service never will. Train your staff better, or have more employees if they are overwhelmed throwing menus on a table isnt how you show someone to their seat. read more

After leaving Thunder Valley Casino my boyfriend and I decided to eat here before we went back home to Fairfield. It was a Friday evening 9pm (10pm) closing time when we sat down. Our waitress took our order - soft shell crab, bento box and lion king roll. Our waitress was a little slow on the service side cause I guess other customers had priorities... and bigger parties... but it took about 15 minutes for our orders to be placed... nonetheless, I will return. It started with the lady attending us she made it seem like she was not in a very good mood. As we were waiting for our table she just pointed where to sit. We ordered chicken teriyaki which was a bit undercooked. The mixed tempura was good and the salad had so much dressing I had to leave it. California roll with imitation crab was the deal breaker. Best Sushi in a small town! Owners are always working with their staff, and they are happy to greet and seat our family with little to no wait. Our family always makes a few substitution (which is our personal preference) the sushi chef and servers are always willing to accommodate. I usually order a seared tuna plate and 2 to 3 rolls every time I treat myself to sushi. I've had a lot of bay area sushi, so I feel like I have a decent sense of quality. Zakuro did not disappoint! In fact, one of the rolls I tried (recommended by the sushi chef Josh) was at least 50% larger than any other premium roll I've had. Like ever. It was laughable. I only ended up eating that one roll and the seared tuna this time, which says something since I'm a big 350lb guy. To top off the excellent value I felt I received in terms of quality, service and speed, Josh's samurai manbun hairstyle really added a lot to the authenticity of the whole experience. I will definitely be back to try more rolls to pair with the excellent seared tuna. read more

I absolutely love Zakuro! The service is quick and sometimes very entertaining if you are sitting at the sushi bar. I have had a variety of rolls and dishes but by far my favorite roll is the one and only Zukuro roll! The sauce that accompanies the fried lobster on top is just perfect, and the little bit of cucumber inside the roll is a nice added crunch. In SAC on business, and tried this place last night. It was so good! I had some calamari, seared ahi steaks, salmon, yellowtail, and dancing scallops. They were all EXCELLENT, although the dancing scallops needs less rice, and perhaps something else. The Ahi poki salad was fresh and the tuna was delicious. Some spice but relatively mild allowing one to appreciate and really enjoy the flavors. My hamachi yellow tail was perfect which I enjoyed along with some miso soup. Finally, I tried the Super Mike roll. I would order this again. The grill scallops and crab make it notable. One of our favorite places to eat in Lincoln. The staff is friendly and service is great. The only time it was off was when we had an older lady and she may have forgotten to bring out my order and didn't really check up on us after but the rest of the staff didn't mind when we asked them for more water or my sushi roll that was sitting on the counter for longer than usual. Other than that we still go here at least twice a month. Food is great and affordable. Love the stamp card as it pays off whenever we use it. This place could be the worse sushi I've ever had. We had lunch brought in at work today so I order the 12 piece nigiri lunch. It came with a couple pieces of salmon, tuna, unagi, ebi, hamachi and some other white fish. To start off with, the fish was cut beyond poorly. It looked like they cut the fish with a dull butter knife. The tuna and salmon were tough to eat. You had to literally put a bit of effort to chew through it. The texture, taste and smell told me I really shouldn't eat this, but I ate five pieces, one of each hoping something would be edible. I wound up tossing the last seven away. I was honest to God scared to eat the rest thinking I would spend the next 48 hours praying to the proverbial porcelain God. My coworkers ordered a bunch of sauce laden roles. A couple of the rolls had a blue sauce that tasted like bubble gum to go with the off color tuna ..um yeah. Think about that... The lunch was paid for by my company, but if people decide to go here again, I will pass on the free meal. read more

This place was turend onto us by some friends who go here so much the chef named the rolls after them! First I have to say you must try the Ryan special! It is tempura shrip with crab and avocado, covered with these tempura flakes, it is so good! Then I would say get the Ben special! ***I must warn you it is spicy!*** It has jalapenos on top with spicy sauce and crab and shrimp and other sauces, a must have! Then if you are still hungy get the Highway 65 roll. It is one of their signaute rolls. They can be a bit slow on your order but have patience becuase it is well worth the wait! You can always snack on some edamame or bbq tuna before hand if need be. If you can sit at the bar and ask for Peter! He is the best sushi chef there! The price is a bit more but you will find the value for the quality and quantity really high, you get your bang for your buck there! I can't wait for our next visit!! read more

My jury duty in Rocklin takes me into the unexplored/unyelped areas of Lincoln/Rocklin for lunch. First of all, I was not supposed to be eating sushi for lunch that day. I wanted THAI food but I was unable to find the thai place. (stupid GPS) I found out from Adam (nice, handsome sushi chef) at Zakuro's that Thai Basil next door closed a few months ago. Okay fine I'll have sushi instead. I ordered Goma-E, salmon sashimi, and a unagi handroll. Food was good, not BOMB, but it was good neverthless. It was fresh, well presented, and tasty. No complaints about food. The service is so slow that I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get back to jury duty on time. The place was EMPTY when I went so why was the service so bad? The staff is inefficient and I am especially referring to the wait staff. He doesn't come check on me, or even to glance this way. It took a very very long time to run my credit card, and when our handsome sushi chef, Adam, asked him to run my card, the server said, "just a minute". More than a minute passes by as he goes to seat more people outside while I wait for him to remember to stop by. He does a few other things before coming by the sushi bar. OK, I am taking two stars away from my previous review, as the service my husband and I experienced this past Thursday evening was just plain HORRIBLE. 1) Our drinks were not refilled, nor were we even asked if we wanted a refill. 2) When we requested the $74.95 sashimi platter, we were asked "are you sure, that is for more than 2 people". - Why would you ask two chubby people that question?. 3) Even though the place was not busy, we got put in the dark "bastard child" corner of the sushi bar. If I am going to your sushi bar, assume that I am probably going to spend money there, don't stick me in a corner please, and also - don't question the validity of my order.
