Everytime I come here, there are issues with customer service or the food. Today I got the half chicken plate with two sides of the basmati rice. I couldn't finish it fully because the parts of the chicken were so dry and the rice was DRENCHED in oil at the bottom! I was hungry and wanted to finish it all but the more I tried, the more I started to feel sickly and grossed out from seeing a puddle of oil engulf the grains of rice. I never had this experience with their rice at the other branches. At the same time, while the rice was nice and warm, I noticed quickly that the chicken was a lot colder. The chicken skin was rough to break through with a fork and I needed to use my mouth to really rip it apart. Underneath that layer, the meat was dry to the point where it was similar to shredded white chicken. Which is a problem since I ordered all of my chicken to be dark meat. I took photos of how oily the rice was. I also was eating at the table infront of the kitchen doors. When a lady staff finished cleaning the tables and walked back into the double kitchen doors, I saw a WHOLE TRAY full of cooked rotisserie chickens lined in rows just sitting on the tray... right on top of the counter without any heat on them! I'm not sure why this location has such low reviews on Yelp. I have the exact opposite experience as everyone else. Growing up in SoCal I have been to Zankou numerous times at their Pasadena locations and even Glendale. I have to say this is by far the best tasting location I have had so far for chicken kabob. No other franchise I've had yet season their chicken as well as this Granada Hills location and no other location's chicken kabob is as moist. The chicken is perfectly tender. I think what lacks at this restaurant has nothing to do with the employees and all to do with the Management. Making your employees (AND CUSTOMERS) suffer in a stuffy conditions, not having set, actively practiced, procedures for hourly cleaning. The staff is very kind, but Management lacks and it shows in the ambience, food and service. Best part of my experience was the employee who took my order. Management/Owners/CEO your lack thereof, deplete your image, sales, and reputation. Just because it's a LA staple doesn't mean it's worth your money. Especially with the prices these days.... The wraps both lacked anything special - they definitely could use some onions, cucumbers, or even pickles to bring some more life to them. I had there Chicken and Tri-Tip mixed Tarna plate. There meat was delicious, chard on some pieces, and moist great flavor. The aroma inside was wonderful. The humus was the best I have ever had and pita bread was good quality and fresh. Downside the inside is slightly outdated. The drink options are limited but descent choices they could have more and better options. The Tarna was a strong in the bitterness. I usually order the family meal from this location but today my husband and daughter wanted kabob. I ordered the combo kabob plate with chicken and Lule. The chicken was just ok but the Lule kabob was terrible. It was extremely chewy. It was like chewing leather. I don't know what type of ground beef they use but it is of the lowest quality/grade. Maybe it was just . I love Kabob and I've been to numerous Mediterranean restaurants. I know what good Lule kabob is supposed to taste like. I wouldn't eat their kabob if they were giving it away. I'm extremely disappointed with the quality of food. They should be ashamed of themselves for serving that type of poor quality food to their patrons. Even when you look at it, it looks like one of those fake food props. But I suppose I'm expecting too much because after all it's like a fast food restaurant. The only thing that was decent was the hummus. I do like the cucumber salad, but sometimes it tastes like it's just been sitting out too long and not refrigerated.
