I'm a walking conundrum: I hate leaving home, but I also like to travel. Voila! We have Las Vegas. The City of Sin. The Ninth Island. What happens here, stays here! But not when it comes to Yelp. Here, we share! I took a quick three-day getaway to Las Vegas and wanted to eat economically, but also be a little indulgent. Thankfully Zippy's has four locations in Las Vegas (the fifth on Hualapai is closing for good). Zippy's can't even make a return to Kauai, so here we are. After a long, arduous day of shopping in downtown Summerlin, a nice wonton min and a plate of Korean chicken (I told you I was being indulgent) really hit the spot. Service was quick and friendly. Restaurant is squeaky clean. I like coming here (Vegas and Zippy's) because I can go out and not feel like I did.

I really wanted to like this Zippy's more than I did, because the food itself was actually good, but the dine-in experience needs serious management attention. This was my first time trying Zippy's, and when you walk in, there's a clear sign directing people to either takeout or dine-in. Looking back, I honestly should have gone straight to the takeout side. That is probably the only way I would recommend coming here right now. The main issue was not the staff. This falls on management. The restaurant needs better front-of-house structure, especially a hostess. We stood there for a few minutes before someone told us they would be with us. Once we were seated, it took about 10 minutes before anyone even came over to offer water or drinks. At that point, I was already watching the time because the dining room did not look packed enough to justify that kind of delay. Our server was Julius, and he was a really nice guy. You could tell he and the other server were working hard, but they looked stretched thin. The problem is that the servers were not only taking orders and handling tables, they also had to cash people out. That is too much on the servers and it shows. This location needs a hostess, a cashier, and a present manager helping control the flow instead of leaving the staff to run around trying to cover everything. Now, the food was the bright spot. We ordered the Chicken Trio and the regular Surf Pac, both with extra mac salad instead of rice. The Chicken Trio comes with golden fried chicken, chicken katsu, and Korean fried chicken. That was a solid plate. The chicken came out hot, crispy, and cooked properly, with enough variety between the pieces to keep it from feeling like just one basic fried chicken plate. The regular Surf Pac came with fried chicken, teriyaki beef, SPAM, and mac salad. That plate was also really good. The teriyaki beef had good flavor, the SPAM added that classic Hawaiian plate lunch feel, and the fried chicken was still the strongest part for me. The portions were solid on both plates. The mac salad was simple, not the most exciting I've had, but it was decent, and I usually judge Hawaiian spots by their mac salad. It was creamy and worked well with the rest of the plate, especially since we swapped the rice for extra mac. I also tried the Spam musubi. It was okay, but I personally would have liked a little more sauce. Nothing bad about it, it just needed a little more flavor for me. The surprise star of the meal was the complimentary chili and cornbread. That was excellent. Honestly, I would come back just for that. The drink was also refreshing, and Julius noticed the inconvenience with the timing and offered me one to go, which I appreciated. That was a nice gesture and another reason I want to be clear that my frustration is not with him. I would come back for the food, but unless I see better staffing and better organization, I would only do takeout. I prefer dining in, because food is always better fresh instead of sweating in a to-go box, but the sit-down experience here needs work. Food: good. Server: kind and trying his best. Management and staffing setup: needs improvement. For now, this is a 3-star experience.

We were staying on the North side and drove down to Summerlin since we wanted some Zippy's. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Not sure if we had hungry eyes but we ordered so much food. Our server recommended the grilled cornbread and it did not disappoint. Also, get that red hotdog for your spaghetti. At this location, breakfast is served all day long. Their orange bang slaps. It was so light. I'm also missing the Haupia cake as I am writing this. I can't wait to come back to LV for some Zippy's.

Cool place after visiting red rock ! We stopped by for lunch after having a day at the red rock canyon and food was yummy. We had a kids meal good portion and two adult meals food was fresh and flavorful . We ordered a sundae and a banana creme pie . The sundae pretty basic good and pie was not for me unfortunately the crust had chocolate which i didn't know and the flavor overall had an after taste almost like diet but ruined it for me didn't enjoy it but also didnt say anything since our server didnt really come to check in . Our server was nice but not sure if short staff she didn't really come back for refills until we order dessert she came and still didn't get more drinks . Ok experience but not to sure if wed purposely go out there to get more food .

Usually I get to attend grand openings for Zippy's in Vegas because my Kumu (teacher) would ask me to dance hula. This time around I was Illso it felt good to be here eating. Service on both times were great. The only negative was that someone wasn't standing by the counter where you enter and wait to be seated but that doesn't bother me but I can see some people get upset. Someone behind the take-out counter greeted me and we were sat quickly. Food: Won Ton Min April Special- Korean Chicken with Chili no Beans French Fries Custard Pie Ensemada Corn Chowder Soup Everything hit the spot. The Korean chicken was cooked perfectly. Felt just like home. The Custard pie was a bit dense but I always compare it to Kilani Bakery which I know I shouldn't. Overall, great spot for ono food, get the cakes and pastries. Unfortunately, they were out of long john. My daughter from Washington had a happy belly. I will definitely return and can't wait to see other locations open up.

Here on a Tuesday night with the family. Service is quick and staff is very attentive and friendly. Our server was Jennifer and she was very accommodating, as if we were dining in her home. The food was amazing as always, bringing a sense of Hawaii in the desert. We were seated quickly as we just beat the dinner rush. Ambiance is always friendly and warm. 5 stars

Amazing service, same great taste. Makes me miss Hawaii. Forgot how big the portions are. A bowl of saimin can feed two people. Go to order everyone should know, it's the Korean fried chicken / chili mix plate. Inside is very clean and bright. Island reggae for the vibes. It's always a great time at zippys!

LOOOOVE Zippy's!!! This is the newest location opened in Vegas and seems to be open longer than others from 6am-midnight! They've got all the same cool to-go locker system that is so techy. The kids keiki meal comes with coloring menu and crayon and gets you a token to get a toy out of the machine. Highly recommend to sign up for the rewards where you can get $5 off or redeem for a menu item like chili bowl with rice (my fave)! Food: - Korean Fried Chicken Salad with creamy Asian dressing - Chicken Katsu Platter - April Deal Korean Fried Chicken and Chili Mixed Plate - Chili Bowl with rice (my go to for simple bite) - Grilled cornbread (sooo good)

Visiting friends in Las Vegas and heard Zippy's at Summerlin was new so 8 of us went to this Zippy's for dinner. We have all tried Zippy's in Hawaii. We got to Zippy's about 7:00 pm on a Wednesday evening. Not crowded at all and the place looked clean and bright. Our service was very good. Most of us ordered the special $10.99 Korean Fried Chicken & Chili Mixed Plate. We substituted the two scoops of rice for Mac salad and you only get 1 scoop of Mac salad for the 2 scoops of rice. At our Hawaiian restaurants at home we get 2 scoops of Mac for substitution of 2 scoops of rice. Overall the food was decent and enjoyed by the group. The Korean Fried Chicken was tasty, Mac salad was basic and the chili was okay. One of our guys ordered their chili with no beans and he was able to get that so if you don't like beans you can ask for that. Since we don't live in the area not sure if we would be back, but it was an okay establishment for a meal.

Peach Bavarian cake being light and refreshing. 2 layers vanilla chiffon cake. A whipped custard cream mixed with chopped peaches.

So happy that Zippy's has finally made its way to Las Vegas--and even better, continuing to expand so more parts of the city can enjoy all our local kine favorites! From their famous fried chicken and Zip Pacs to saimin, plate lunches, and those onolicious Napoleon desserts... it's all the comfort food you could ask for. Today we made a quick stop to grab a few snacks before hopping on the freeway, and Zander was such a pleasant surprise! Super personable and helpful--he even assisted with slicing our Peach Bavarian cake and getting our takeout order together. He was welcoming, friendly, fast, and efficient--and genuinely seemed happy to be at work, which you don't always see these days. Definitely a big plus!

Really happy they opened a new location around our area. We love us some zippys fried chicken and oxtail soup of course- The place is clean, modern, and still has that classic Zippy's comfort feel. Food-wise, it definitely hit the spot...plate lunches came out hot and portions were solid. Service was friendly fast and pretty efficient. Came on a Friday and it wasn't as busy as the other location so it's great we were in and out quick.

    Orange Bang!

Looks like hash browns but it's corned beef hash. A little on the "Potatoey" side but with a unique taste. 3 eggs, not 2, would be nice. Toast optional but the rice fills you up. They have Orange Bang on tap. Haven't had that in 40 years! Made with whipped orange JUICE w/egg whites make it fluffy. Free refills. Nice selection of baked goods/pastries. I'll go back for the chili.

They are definitely bringing Hawaii to Vegas. They play great Reggae music in the dining room. It's a clean and inviting atmosphere. The service was good, but it was so slow that I thought they were closing. The food was okay. I got the Chicken Katsu. For less I could have gotten a better meal, bigger portions, and better price at L&L which is in the same parking lot

My husband ordered the garlic chicken plate, and it was incredibly crispy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned with a perfect garlic taste. I ordered the garlic shrimp plate, and it was just as impressive. The shrimp were cooked perfectly (not overdone at all or mushy), and the garlic chili butter was a 10/10! The ambiance, however, could use some improvement. The space felt a bit dark and lacked decor. I'd love to see them elevate the atmosphere to better reflect that warm Aloha spirit. Also, there was an unpleasant smell when we walked in, which took away from the experience. Something as simple as improving ventilation or adding subtle air fresheners could make a big difference. Overall, it's a great spot for Hawaiian food, and the location is super convenient easy to get to right off the highway.

Our food came out really quickly and there were a variety of homemade sauces you can choose from to add with your meal. The brisket, 1/4 chicken, and hot links were cooked to perfection and were very juicy. The ribs and pulled pork were a tad bit on the drier side, but the flavor was still good. The Carolina Vinegar tastes absolutely delicious on all of the meats and we added some to our collared greens as well. The sides were our absolute favorite part of the meal and we devoured all of them. The baked beans and collared greens were so flavorful with smokey bits of meat throughout which added a bit of extra depth and richness. This week they also offered two specials -- the Oklahoma (Dandan with grilled onions) and the Jalapeño Oklahoma (Dandan with grilled onions and jalapeños). The Dandan has been on my list for a while, so I finally pulled the trigger. I called around 11:30 a.m. and was promptly helped by a friendly employee. After a quick chat about which of the three was best, I went with the Jalapeño Oklahoma and a side of Brussels sprouts. I've had the sprouts before and really liked them -- they felt like a slightly healthier alternative to the usual fried sides. (Though when I arrived to pick up my order, it seemed like everyone else was happily devouring onion rings, which made me second-guess that choice.) As expected, there was a line stretching out the door. I quickly realized I was the only one actually waiting outside. Several people walked straight in, bypassed the line, and got helped right away. Turns out a group of 3-4 people had already ordered and were just hanging out inside in the AC while they waited. Lesson learned: if you've already placed your order, just walk in next time. While I waited, the staff brought out an ice-cold cup of their fresh cantaloupe juice. It's very sweet and genuinely delicious -- highly recommend. I took everything to go and ate at home, so I can't speak to temperature. The burger was big and loaded with meat and cheese -- you couldn't really see the jalapeños or onions at first, but they announced themselves with the first bite. The brisket patties cooked in tallow deliver a deep, rich beef flavor. They're a little firmer than a standard burger (as expected with brisket), so if you're someone who likes a lot of vegetables and toppings, this might not be your ideal burger. But if you're after a straight-up, beef-forward, no-frills experience, you won't be disappointed. The Brussels sprouts were excellent as always -- perfectly balanced with a sweet-tangy balsamic glaze. Let's be honest... I'll definitely be back. Next time I'm trying the classic Dandan -- and those onion rings.
