The pancakes were fluffy looking but tasted like a version of jiffy cornbread. I ate the fruit. The eggs were not scrambled really. I just felt like they put them in a bowl, scrambled with fork and put them on the grill but forgot to scramble them a little bit to cook the top of the eggs and then plated. The top of eggs was wet. I'm not a fan of raw eggs which happen to come out after I was done trying the pancakes and fruit. The ambiance was pretty in teal the music was perfectly light. The staff was friendly, attentive, and clearly trying hard throughout the night, which we appreciated. That said, there were several issues that really hurt the overall experience. The biggest frustration started right away. We had reservations and still waited nearly 30 minutes past our reservation time to be seated. A 10 to 15 minute delay is understandable at a busy restaurant, but pushing close to 30 minutes, especially with an elderly parent, was disappointing. We ordered the chef's selection omakase: two standard and one vegetarian. Unfortunately, the pacing and coordination of the dishes felt very disorganized. My mother and I received three dishes before my wife even received her first vegetarian course. Then suddenly she received several dishes almost at once. Plates were often dropped at the table with quick descriptions, but no explanation of whose dish was whose. Since some vegetarian dishes arrived alongside the standard omakase dishes, it created a lot of confusion throughout the meal. I've done the sushi omakase option in the past and would strongly recommend it over the standard chef's selection. The non sushi dishes were creative and enjoyable, but personally I come for the sushi and sashimi focused experience. For the price point, I left feeling a bit underwhelmed by the omakase selection overall. Another odd choice was serving shared plates for the two non vegetarian omakase meals. I understand the concept, but at this price level I think guests should at least be offered the option of individual plates for each course. I also want to give credit where it's due: the staff did make an effort to explain each dish. Unfortunately, the noise level in the restaurant made it almost impossible to hear at times. The table next to us was literally yelling through much of dinner, and while I usually enjoy energetic restaurants, this crossed into genuinely disruptive territory. This honestly could have easily been a 4 star or even 5 star experience with a few operational improvements: more timely seating, better pacing of dishes, clearer communication about what each plate was and who it belonged to, and a more polished overall flow to the omakase experience. At over $600 after tip, I expected more consistency and execution, especially since I've consistently had better experiences at sister restaurant Uchi. I may give this location one more try, but realistically I'll probably just return to Uchi instead.
