NO NO NO If you are from the San Francisco Bay Area and are craving the Asian food made for Asians that you are accustomed to, this place is not for you. When I go to a place with "Szechuan" in its store sign, I am expecting spicy, rich, flavorful food. I am aware the Szechuan dumplings are not actually authentic, but the taste here is absolutely wrong. Each bite should not taste like generic brand, sugar-laden teriyaki sauce that was cut with a shaving of chili skin. Worst yet, no amount of water, juice, or soda can wash away the sticky, keychup-like aftertaste from my tongue. I was raised with real, spicy, flavorful Szechuan food. This dish betrayed me and it is utterly unforgivable. This is a dish catering to the ketchup-loving diabetic-adjacent New Yorker. Stick to Flushing, don't bother with Asian food on Manhattan. UPDATE: 05/27/8 WENT TO EARLY DINNER AT 5:30pm. We were a party of 3 and sat at the back of the window tables, now I know why the place is always empty: the service and the dirty atmosphere (table clothes like a butcher's apron) I don't know what pissed this woman off, but we sat down and she asked what do we want while handing us the menu. We ordered some sodas and I asked if we could have some glasses. She smiled but came back with only one glass. Okay, maybe she misheard. My party didn't think much of it and we ordered some dishes to share family style. We asked for a few extra napkins because my Mapo tofu is a bit sticky, but again she came back with only one napkin. What will one napkin do for three people??? We just ate, paid and left. We vowed to never go back here. The first time I came to eat here, it was inexpensive, the lunch time service was nice and the tables were clean. This time for dinner there was rude service and dirty tablecloths like the aprons of a butcher. Don't have dinner here it's not worth it! The food was cheap and assuming it was prepared in a clean way, it was at least worth two stars. Original review: What a good lunch, inexpensive, clean and authentic Sichuan food. That white stuff sprinkled on top- that's it. It's 2 cups of Birdseye vegetables with a tbp of nuts and chicken pellets. We love A-jiao! The food used to be very spicy a few year ago which we love, but I think they have lowered the spiciness in catering to a different demographic group. Overall, the quality is always consistently good i.e. fresh ingredients, tasty and good size portions. We have ordered their noodles dishes, spinach, shrimp and chicken dishes - and like them all. The best thing is that their delivery times, apart from the 1 time out of at least 100 times that we have ordered from them, have always been prompt under 30 minutes. Their delivery guys are polite too, and would always thank us for ordering from them. This is unlike some Chinese take out places where the delivery guys would ask for tips outright (which I do not like). A-jiao serves pretty authentic Chinese dishes and we enjoy them. read more

I go here all the time with my dad for lunch, and it's absolutely to die for. Easily the best Chinese in NYC. FOOD -- Holy God, get the hot and sour soup. It's spicy, tangy, and warms your inner soul it's that good. As for the main courses, I'm a creature of habit and always order the sliced chicken and broccoli. It's delicious! Again, just the right amount of seasoning, not over-sauced, and the broccoli is still a little crispy. SERVICE -- The service is a bit iffy. I've had good servers and I've had bad. You do need to keep asking them for water and chopsticks, though, and today two different servers printed two different checks for us without the other knowing. However, I've never had to wait for a table and am always seated right away. The food also comes out quickly, which is a huge plus, especially during lunch hours! Most of the Chinese places in Yorkville are cheap takeout quality. This one is an actual authentic Sichuan place. The food was actually pretty spicy, though not overly so. I tried several things from here like ma po tofu, beef tendon, and sichuan pork dumplings. The best thing for me were the dumplings which had a rich, spicy flavor to them. However, I am not a big fan of Sichuan cuisine, so I found the other dishes underwhelming with their pungent tastes. The food here was also way too greasy - it seems that they like to pour chili oil all over their food. So glad I decided to try this place! I don't know why they have a 3 star rating on Yelp. We ordered in, the food was fresh, hot and delicious. The chicken had just the right amount of Sichuan peppercorns and was crispy on the outside and juicy inside. I'm so happy that there's a Sichuan restaurant in the are i have fallen in love with. I popped in here for a takeout spur of the moment after a long day at work, having not seen the menu and knows what I would like to order. Cherry the girl on the till was super helpful, asking me what I felt in the mood for and making recommendations accordingly. I had the Sichuan pork dumplings which were nice, the chilli and garlic sauce was lovely. I also had the spring rolls on the side which were nice too. Key Dishes: - Work Roasted Diced Chicken w/ Thousand Chili (typo on the menu but as long as the food is good who cares?) - Chef's Ma Paul Tofu w/ Chili-Minced Pork Will try more dishes as I keep going. The best Sichuan food I've had. Do not order American Chinese food (general tsos, sesame chicken, etc) from this place. I've gotten the pork dumplings, lo mein, kung pao and the spicy fish dish and all were good, but the mapo tofu is ridiculously amazing! Its the perfect mix of soft spicy warm deliciousness. A word of warning, the thousand chili chicken is not to be played around with. It is really tasty, but it burns going in, going out and all the way in between.
