Ate at AJ's for the first time in their new location. Same great food and service, now in a much more convenient location.

I had an unfortunate experience in which AJ's refused to honor a restaurant.com certificate for my order. These certificates never expire, and restaurants that agree to participate for the advertising provided should not refuse to honor them. I walked out an unhappy guest. They lost the opportunity to make it right for a potential return customer, who will now not be coming back bringing friends along. All for the sake of refusing to do right by a patron with a valid certificate :(. We're fortunate that there are plenty of other places in Valpo and Chesterton to enjoy food and a nice evening with friends. read more

My wife and I stopped here on our way to Chicago. We had the Veggie Pizza and it was Great. We will stop here again.

Ate here tonight for the first time.It wasn't bad but I wasn't really impressed.Appetizers were so so.Wife ordered fried cauliflower and they brought her out like 5 pieces.She complained and got closer to her moneys worth.Pizza was okay.Beef sandwich had almost no meat on it and was unimpressive.Overall not horrible just as picky as we are about pizza we probably won't make a return visit. read more

Ajs is amazing! I'm not a huge pizza connoisseur but if I'm craving a good slice- Ajs is one of the places I go to. Their garlic knots are so delicious, and their pizza- I think it's perfect! Always quick and friendly service too. read more

Been dying to try the place. Heard how great the pizza was. We went tonight. Pizza was okay. Nothing special, worth getting again. However, service was hideous. First of all I am short (5ft). I am not using a step stool to climb up on chair and letting my feet dangle like a little kid. It is unsafe, uncomfortable. The regular tables were all saved for reservations. Maybe you should get rid of the high tables, if people don't want them. Then we had our Pizza 10 minutes before we got our plates. Our server told us he would be right back to bring our plates. Instead he began filling refills at another table. We asked another server, who was busting her hump, to ask our server to bring us plates. Then a huge group came in. Our server, slower then molasses on a cold winters day, preceded to take their order. Although we had been waiting another 10-15 min for a refill. After, being ignored once again we requested a manager. She took what seemed forever, we were mad at that time, to get back to us. She took 50% off our bill. Which I did not want. I pay for my food. I just expect a timely response. I tip at 20% even on average service. I don't expect a lot, maybe one refill and plates to eat off, and the ability to touch the ground when I eat would be nice. All the manager did was make excuses for the poor service. There is no excuse. There is enough Pizza shops in this small town. We never need to darken the doorsteps again. I have DEFINITELY experience better service, better food, and better prices, at pizza hut compared to this cuck hole. Me and my wife went here for Valentines day because I thought it would be a nice romantic date. THERE WERE NO DECORATIONS and no V-day goo goo discounts. Along with this, by the time me and me wife got our pizza, it was cold. Are you serious? I had to wait 25 minutes to get teh damn thing and when I do its cold? This tells me it was nothing but the workers being lazy. There needs to be MAJOR changes in the staff of this establishment, all new people if you ask me. I'm sick and tired of businesses like this one getting away with Highway ROBBERY in their prices and then shafting you when you finally get what you ordered in the form of cold ass food. Not to mention when I asked my waitress about this, she just laughed and said "sorry" smiled and walked away. Who trains these people? Clearly orangutans. I don't think I am going to ever come back unless they kiss my mother LICKIN FEET. Not to mention there was a terrible leaky ceiling and creaky floors right where I was eating. Let me start off by saying, their food is fine. The waitresses are extremely unprofessional, rude, and invasive. The only friendly people I noticed when I was here were the bussers. they were very friendly, and helpful. I've given this place more than one try and every time I get the same service I would expect if I was eating at a prison. The establishment itself smells of a musty, moldy, tomato paste. The floors are stained, the ceilings were leaking above me when I was eating there, and the atmosphere is too amateur. I didn't expect any of this from a brand new facility. If I could describe this restaurant in 2 words it would be unprofessional trash. I went to use the restrooms (which the bussers kindly directed me toward) and the toilet was disgusting and obviously non cleaned that day. read more

Stopped in Sunday afternoon on the way back to Chicago. Sat it the bar area. The bartender, who was also our waitress, was friendly and attentive. The drinks, pizza and sandwiches are decent. Only downer was we had to listen to one of the waitresses complain, and complain, and complain as she stomped around like a chicken with its head cut off, about the $5 dollar tip she received on a $60 dollar check. Wonder if she ever thought, "Hey, maybe I didn't do a very good job taking care of my table and that's why they only left me a $5 dollar tip....?" Pizza is okay, prices are not bad. We ordered for delivery on a Saturday afternoon. They said it would be about an hour, it took two hours to get our pizza. No apologies were given. Not happy at all. Extremely disappointed, will not order again. read more

Was staying at the Hilton Garden Inn next door. Wanted to grab something to carry back to the room. When I walked into the restaurant, there were some patrons waiting in the short foyer area between the outer and inner door. Once stepping into the restaurant, I was surprised to see so many patrons gathered just inside. I waited there for a few seconds before realizing they were waiting for orders to be delivered to the counter just inside the inner door. Someone made a comment, "they are quick to take your credit card but sure slow to deliver your pizza". No one looked very happy. I then waded through the standing crowd to the other side of the counter where there was a sign indicating you should wait to be seated. My desire was to find a menu so I could decide what to order and ask an employee the process to place the order. When I first arrived, there was briefly an employee at the counter, but she quickly disappeared. I waited at the "wait to be seated" area while a number of servers quickly walked by with no acknowledgement of my presence. While I stood there, I looked around for some kind of menu. Nothing on the wall behind the counter. Nothing on the take out counter. Nothing around the hostess station as well as no hostess. After a couple of minutes I turned back to the delivery counter, looked again for a menu with no success, made my way through the throng waiting for their pizza and exited the establishment to head back to the Hilton. Disappointed with the experience from this establishment. read more

I ordered a BBQ Chicken pizza from this place. Not a BBQ chicken and bacon pizza. I picked it up, brought it home and took a bite. I'm Jewish. There was a lot of greasy bacon all over the pizza. I called the store to try and get it fixed and the manager said that she was sorry I didn't look at the menu to see that there was bacon on the pizza. (It's late and I simply was just trying to find a place in from which to order a good pizza and didn't have a menu in front of me, I explained this.) I also tried to tell her I did not order the specialty BBQ chicken pizza and that I wanted a regular one. She said I had 10 minutes to come pick it up. This person (the manager) was completely rude. Caveat: I just returned from a year long deployment on emergency leave from the Middle East for a funeral, and this is the way I get treated when I politely try to get the issue resolved. Be very wary of what you order from here and who you talk to if you need to fix an order. This place does not deserve my hard earned money or this one star. If anything, it deserves a lower review. read more

The pizza here is good if you're patient enough to wait for it. Been here multiple times and the wait time is HORRIBLE. Waitresses walk around looking visibly confused which more than likely contributes to orders being consistently wrong every time. Insider tip: when a waitress at this restaurant says your pizza will be out shortly, that means it'll be 30+ more minutes. This place is not up to the hype it gets locally. read more

Big fan of AJs and really enjoy eating here when I'm around the Chesterton area. Have a good craft beer selection to start, and the garlic bread twists are a must with some cheese to dip. I've only had the stuffed pizza and it's always spot on. Haven't had anything else other than their pizza. read more

Seriously awful. Came in on a Tuesday, noticed they had a martini special. I ordered a citrus martini, my sister requested a cucumber martini off their drink list. 20 minutes later they told us they were out of cucumber vodka. She requested a regular vodka martini. When the drinks finally arrived they were horrid..the citrus martini was just bad sour mix. We ordered a basic think crust pizza, asked that it be crispy 40 minutes later the most raw, pale flacid pizza arrived. So bad we sent it back. Just the worst all around. Even the water tasted weird. Just had AJ's carry out tonight, Should have stuck with the pizza. Got a 12" Italian beef sandwich instead. The sandwich had almost enough beef to cover one six inch side of the bun. I guess this explains why they only gave 1/2 of a plastic cup of Au Jus. But on the bright side, think of all the carbs I missed by throwing away half of the bun read more

Just finished up at this cool place. We were met well my hostess then were quickly met by our server. We ordered the boneless sweet barbecue wings and they were perfect. Our main course was the XL 1/2 meat lovers and 1/2 veggie. It was amazing from the crust, to the cheese to be he yummy toppings. We really liked the artichoke hearts. We almost ate all 12 pieces for me, my wife and two young kids. It was a great experience! read more

Tonight was the second time we have eaten at AJ's pizza. The first time we dined in was a good experience. Not so good tonight, after waiting for quite sometime a young waitress asked us what we wanted to drink and we ordered the cheese bread. My son ordered a half size BBQ sandwich without onions and green pepper and I ordered a half size stromboli.The waitress asked us if we would like fries or onion rings with our sanwich so we ordered them assuming thet came with the meal. My wife and daughter ordered a pepperroni pizza to share. After waiting 20 minutes, we asked our waitress where the cheese bread was and she said she would check on it. She came back a couple of minutes later with the bread, obviously she had forgotten it. My son's sandwich was delivered by a runner that didn't even know what he had ordered. What he received was an Italian beef sandwich, loaded with onions and green pepper. My stromboli was essentially a a piece of french bread split with sauce, sausage nuggets onions and green pepper, it reminded me of the french bread pizzas I used to eat in college. The pizza was good but not great like it was before. After waiting 15 minutes for our waitress to come back I asked for the check which took another 10 minutes. I couldn't belive that bill, we were charged for full sized sandwiches when actually we ordered half size. The fries and onion rings were ala carte and the whole bill came to $46.00 and we had water to drink. I called the manager after getting back to ther hotel and she apologized but asked why i didn't say something to the waitress. If the wiatress would of been more attentive I would of talked to her about the issues. I would be very careful eating at this place, its run by a bunch of kid's that don't care of don't know any better. I should of gone to Culver's which was adjacent to AJ's read more
