I came here to meet a friend. I like the parking situation except for when lunchtime comes around, the newly afternoon parking officers hurried me to over my car and leave so they can start collecting and charging g for parking. That's a pain. Outside of that... the coffee was delicious and the vibe was nice. The decorations proved to be interesting and had character. I like the vibe. I've come 2x to try the drinks because I've heard good reviews , and I will say the drinks hold up to the reviews. My boyfriend and I tried the iced chai latte & it's one of our top chai options. It's so good and flavorful and really satisfies our craving. Also tried the tiramisu latte & I must say it's my FAVORITE latte ! The coffee strength is perfect , the sweetness is perfect , and for what it's worth, I have no complaints! On both occasions I was attended very quickly, despite the customers in house. The winner that no other coffee shop has is the misugaru latte. Black sesame and peanut flavors with coffee and a sweet cream on top. What is misugaru? Had to look it up so I can recreate it at home. It's a Korean roasted multi grain and nut powder that is mixed with milk or water as a nutritional drink. Really if you are into roasted drinks then this may be for you. It is really good, simple and not so sweet. There is a parking lot, probably would be hard to find parking. If you could, park in another lot and walk over or metered street parking. It was lactose friendly, since they use oat versus milk. I can see why it's on the signature category! For seating, there were various options available throughout the store that were good for small groups. I did sit at the middle tall table. There was an outlet available right underneath. There is strong WiFi available with the password available at the front counter. As for noise, the music was at an okay level, but there was a lot of people talking. It was sweet and reminded me of a Porto's iced coffee. Loved the avocado toast- it literally had a heaping portion of avocado. This coffee shop is pretty big and great for studying considering we're in LA. I love how this coffee shop has Asian drinks, American drinks, and matcha/tea to satisfy all taste buds. Misugaru Latte (4.5/5): This is a coffee mixed with grains latte that has black sesame oat latte, espresso, and a not too sweet cream top. I would say the taste of Misugaru is a blend of soybean, black sesame, and peanut! It's a delicious and nutty drink if you're into that. The sweet cream top balanced the nuttiness of the drink so well adding a refreshing palate cleanser. Dubai Chocolate (5/5): They were selling Dubai chocolate here at $9 so I had to get it! This place is amazing! My friend lives in K Town and was craving avocado toast. I typed it into my app and this spot popped up just a few minutes away. Little easy to miss, tucked away in a shopping center with decent parking options (street as well). You enter, order, and take a seat. When your order is ready, they call your name and you go grab the goods. I forgot what we ordered, but mine had prosciutto on it and it was DELICIOUS. I visited Alchemist for a coffee chat with a friend and ordered their Misugaru Latte with 50% sugar - perfect for the savory individual looking to enjoy a guilty pleasure with black sesame. The comments were correct; if you want to visit, come early before 11am to avoid the $3 valet. Parking was fairly tight in this plaza - as is most of Koreatown - and even at 11am customers packed along the entrance. Upon entering, I felt like I had instantly teleported to a cafe in Korea - what a nostalgic experience. Despite being so packed, the drink was ready within 10 minutes, and ooooh was it tasty! I never considered black sesame paired with coffee; the flavors paired well together, the only complain being that the black sesame eventually sinks to the bottom. Solid cafe in ktown! So glad I stumbled upon this on accident when I desperately needed caffeine before a rave xD I spotted they had a matcha einspänner on the menu, so I went with that. Turned out to be one of the best I've had of this drink type, following Maru's probably. I can tell they use quality matcha, and the drink isn't overly sweet. You also can't go wrong with that cream top :3 They have a large selection of drinks, as well as food options from both the pastry display and the kitchen. They mostly play low-pop beats, so it's not the quietest if you're sensitive to ambient noises. The woman who took my order was so sweet and the people who were prepping food gave off positive vibes and great energy. The space itself is chill. I went at a very busy time...noon on a Saturday and it was packed. Laptops everywhere so it was a mixture of people just hanging out and those trying to get some work and studying done. With that being said, if you're looking for a quiet space, I'd avoid it here during peak hours. It's definitely more of a spot for those who have excellent headphones and can disappear into their own world for a while. Lots of seating but I didn't see any visible outlets fyi. But there is wifi! This is one of the ones. They open bright and early. There's an accessible parking lot for the win. ACP is located directly on the northeast corner of Vermont & 7th street. The coffee has that organic burnt bougie taste. (You know the one.) FREE WiFi. The latte may cost you damn near $10, but if you get it iced, it's visually a medium. Considering this being a workspace friendly space, they've earned the right to overcharge. It's a part of the game and they've actually gotten the aesthetics down. The music lets you know they understand the assignment. I'll go as far as calling it a hidden gem. A croissant may go for the high, but it'll be gourmet and uniquely crafted. Caramel brûlée latte (iced only) is subtle. It comes with a cream top, but I didn't get that cream with my initial sip like I usually do. I haven't really gotten a hint of it yet. I'll go as far as saying this is more of an adult cream top. Like, you can sometimes take your coffee black, but you're also down to step out for the flavors. I've been meaning to visit Alchemist for the longest time after hearing rave reviews, and I'm happy to say that it lives up to the hype! The misugaru latte here is incredible -- the black sesame and coffee taste are both strong and complement each other so well, and the cream top makes the drink just sweet enough while not being overpowering. I can confidently say that this was one of the best specialty lattes I've had in LA. That being said, it did come at a bit of a steep price point at around $8.50 after tax. Overall, I very much enjoyed my visit to Alchemist! Their Misugaru matcha latte (new drink added to the menu a year ago & now one of the top-selling drinks) was recently featured in LA Times (https://www.latimes.com/food/list/best-los-angeles-coffee-shops-misugaru-latte-korean-coffee-culture). *** Spanish Latte (hot - $7.25): I ultimately ended up with this drink based on the top Yelp review highlights. We came here for morning coffee. I love the vibe and the ambience when I walked in. Very casual and cozy set up with the order station on the right. The menu was comprehensive with many variety of coffee, espresso and matcha. We ordered the matcha latte and the Caramel latte. We also ordered the banana walnut chocolate bread and the chocolate croissant. The server was very attentive and courteous. We picked a table and our order was ready. The vibe is very much a study cafe so it was a great place to study with outlets and WiFi. There is also a restroom so you can definitely spend hours here. There is also parking which is a rarity in koreatown. The drinks here were amazing, like genuinely haven't had a coffee taste that good in sooo long. Went in today because I forgot my coffee at home. I asked them if they had any low acid coffee, to which they acted like I didn't know what I was talking about. I then asked them if they had dark or medium roast. They told me they only had light roast. I got a cold Americano instead. They took a 16 oz glass of ice water and poured 2 oz or less of espresso into it. That is way too much water to coffee ratio. I'm basically just drinking dirty ice water right now.
