Huge selections on their menu (clay pots, baked rice/pasta, combos, you name it). Retro, eclectic street décor-themed. 5 parties wait ahead of us at prime time wknd lunch hours - but not too bad. Entrance from both the front side (off Las Tunas) or back (free parking lot). Service was quick and food came out piping. Lots of families with little kids dining too. Loud dining ambience. Stepped into Hong Kong without leaving SGV Alice's Kitchen in Temple City is serving more than just great food--the space itself is a work of art. The owner thoughtfully designed the restaurant to recreate the streets of Hong Kong, even importing furniture, signage, and decor directly from Hong Kong for an authentic feel. And the food? The chefs bring 20+ years of experience to the kitchen, and it shows. We tried the French Style Filet Mignon, Walnut Shrimp, Yang Chow Fried Rice, and Chicken with Black Truffle Sauce--each dish packed with flavor and executed with care. Came on a weekend and even though we had a larger party we were seated pretty quickly. i really like the pineapple pork chop sandwich, great balance of sweet and savory. The peanut butter toast was also rlly good. the green bean were very flavorful the century egg and pork congee had no pork and was not as flavorful as i'd liked. the rice and noodle dishes were decent, nothing too special. i really want to try the clay pot next time which is only available during dinner time

I came to Alice's Kitchen with my family for a post graduation dinner because 1) This location is opened until midnight 2) The space can accommodate large parties. The thing is, I thought Alice's Kitchen was strictly a Hong Kong style diner, however, there is an entire section dedicated to Canto family style dishes. How lucky for me because it made ordering for my party of 11 seamless and easy. We ordered the following: -deep fried cod fillet with spicy salt ($13.95) -sweet & sour pork ($13.75) -kung pao chicken ($15.25) -beef chow fun. ($14.99) -yang chow fried rice ($15.50) -stir-fried string beans with minced pork ($14.99) Honestly, this was just as good, if not better than any Chinese family style banquet dinner I've ever eaten. Every single dish was solid and beautifully executed. Of course crowd favorites included the deep fried cod fillet and sweet and sour pork, but everything tasted as expected. Portions are generous given how reasonably priced everything is and ordering 2 of every dish was more than enough for my family. Our meal was very good and service was impeccable. I'll be back, I'll be back. For Hong Kong breakfast and everything else in between.

The decor is very unusual but also fun for many of us. I think it's unique and all over the place with displays of movie posters, random items, and miscellaneous things such as shirts and signs. It was quite busy, the place cannot accommodate a party of 10 or more as the largest table seems to fit 8 comfortably or 10 if 2 of them are children. The wait time was quite long for a party of 9, parties of 4 or less were able to get seated almost immediately. When seated, the table was one of the larger ones but still a quiet squeeze. We each ordered a dish which I got the sizzling ribeye with mushroom sauce and pasta while the kids got noodles. It took some time for food to come out, they came almost one at a time. One of our orders didn't come so we had to ask about it and it did eventually come (bbq pork with egg on rice). There's steak was thinner than expected so asking for medium rare seemed irrelevant as the steak became well done as it was on a hot plate. The corn was good, a few pieces of husk was found but not bad. The pasta had a heap of sauce which we actually liked. The kids ate the noodles, which was basically noodles with soybean sprouts. The night was quite busy and lots of people making it super loud. Service was slow, we had to Ariadne our hands quite a few times and sometimes had to get up to find someone to pack our food to go. Overall a good try, maybe we'll be back but not anytime soon as a big party.

Dined in for dinner around 9:30 PM. We had a group of 5. We were seated right away. The restaurant was 3/4 full. Atmosphere: It has a lot of old school items and it felt like we were in Hong Kong. Parking: Plenty in the back at this time. The front has parking as well. When we were there, a blackout occurred, but the staff reassured us we were okay. They provided lights and kept on checking up on us. I loved their enthusiasm throughout the night. I ordered the chicken steak with spaghetti and the lemon ice tea. It was huge and tasty. No complaints here. I would rate it 4.5/5! The lemon ice tea came with unlimited refills. The waitress was so nice to give us a drink to go without charging us.

This is a crazy outdoor vibe but indoors. It's like eating at an open market! Cute decor. Service was okay but can use some improvement. Didn't get a water refill. The food was great! I really like the rib eye flavor but it was a little tough. Also enjoyed the eggplant. The noodles were okay. I'd pick something different next time. Yummy BBQ pork in the egg dish. I need to confess something to you: I love Chinese food. However, it wasn't until the last few years where I've come to realize the distinctions between Hong Kong cuisine and mainland Chinese cuisine. It's been an exploration. But with each new Hong Kong style restaurant I try, the more expansive my view, and belly, get. Alice's Kitchen, specifically this one in Temple City, was a refreshing look at not just the food but the vibe as well. Design - Falling into a different world Walking into Alice's Kitchen from the back parking lot is like walking into a vibrant food court back in the 1980s. Bright neon signs are placed throughout the dining room floor, faux food stalls can be seen to give more of a community feel to the inside, and I love the sprawl of different props of newspapers, t-shirts hung on clotheslines, and big advertisements on the walls like you might see in a food court. It really elevated the atmosphere of the space and I loved their branded orange plates, bowls, spoons, and chopsticks. It gave whimsy to this place. Staff - Cool The staff here are like what you expect from any Chinese restaurant. You try to flag one down or grab their attention with your wandering eyes and when they come over you can tell them what you want. They take your order and usually within 5-7 minutes you'll start to see your food heading your way. Perfect for anyone hungry and dying to eat right away. When you ask for to-go boxes at the end of the meal (you definitely will) moments after you get your food packed someone will appear with a tablet ready for you to pay right there at the table. Talk about speed. Food - Onions galore I see that in Hong Kong cuisine there is this mix match of Western and Chinese tastes put together. This fusion of ideas is what brings something like their large pineapple bun sandwiches to existence. We got the BBQ pork (char siu) pineapple bun sandwich and this came warm with a fried egg, slab of butter, generous slices of BBQ pork, and a savory sauce. For one person, this could be a good main dish to be accompanied by a side. For this split between two people, this is a savory sweet dish perfect to wet the appetite. Highly recommend getting one of these. The sweet & sour pork was nostalgic to me. Served with chunks of white onion, green peppers, and pineapple the flavor of this reminded me very much of the sweet & sour pork Chinese-Korean restaurants serve, except for the color being different and no cabbage in the sauce. It has the sweetness brought out by the pineapple but still a bit of tang and deep savoriness of the pork with each bite. The onions were undercooked and you'll see this as a pattern for all their dishes containing onions. The French style filet mignon chunks were fantastic. Juicy and flavorful, each bite makes the mouth water more and more and the texture gave such pleasant mouth feels. The fried basil accompanying it also gave a burst of freshness and herbacious flavors. Just be careful not to accidentally bite into a chunk of ginger. Unless you love ginger. Then go right ahead. The beef chow fun with black bean sauce was great. Nice balance of their black bean sauce with the textures of the chunks of beef, the onions and peppers in this add a nice crunch and difference in flavor that balances all the savoriness. The tofu with spiced salt was also incredible. When I ate this still piping hot the crisp exterior with the hot soft interior made me smile. The spiced coating was flavorful and with some rice it gives a nice balance with each bite. Final Thoughts With all the food we got for dinner, I'm sure I leaned more into the Chinese cuisine side than the Hong Kong side. However, I was happy with the quality and depth of flavors in everything I had. Alice's Kitchen has definitely been one of the better Hong Kong restaurants I've had and I'm excited to explore more of this cuisine in the future. Can't wait to come back!

My boyfriend wanted baked pork chop, so we came here. I've never been to Hong Kong so I don't know what it looks like. But when I walked in, it felt like I could've been in Hong Kong. It was colorful and had night time, street-like vibes. We ended up getting the baked pork chop with pasta. Flavor was good. Not as cheesy tasting as other places I've had it at, which is a good thing for me. In general, I think the baked pork chop with rice is better, since I feel the rice absorbs the flavor more. I also got the salt and pepper pork chop, which seemed to be a popular dish here. The pork was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Service was good. They even pack your leftover food for you.

My first observation was that the staff are very efficient and dishes came out very quickly. They have a large selection of menu items, decent pricing, and the sizes are good for sharing. There is a fairly large indoor seating area, and a parking lot in the back. It can get busy and loud during mealtimes. A comforting meal if you enjoy HK cafe food!

Great place for Cantonese style food! I've been here many times and it never disappoints! Honestly it's like comfort food for me, so I highly recommend checking it out. Some of my favorite dishes are the: seafood and tofu bowl and the egg, shrimp flat rice noodles

Had a great experience at Alice Kitchen for a family-style dinner. We made a reservation in advance for their 8-10 person set menu ($438), and it was definitely worth it. The biggest highlight is how convenient the set menu is--no need to think about what to order, and you get a wide variety of dishes. Every course we had was solid. Standouts for me included the braised pigeon, crispy beef brisket (crispy on the outside and tender inside), ginger scallion lobster, and the black truffle fried rice. The portions were generous, and everything came out well-prepared and flavorful. They also included a complimentary Ovaltine French toast for dessert, which was a nice sweet ending. We added the HK-style pork ribs as well, which were also very tasty. One thing to note: the restaurant is quite lively and can get a bit noisy, and there are no private rooms. Not a dealbreaker, but something to keep in mind if you're looking for a quieter setting. Overall, great food, good value for a large group, and a fun dining experience. Would definitely come back!
