Undeniably, the food is great. A couple of Saturdays ago, we had a reservation. Our party included four people over the age of 80. When we got to the restaurant, we were told that we did not have a reservation. My husband pulled up the reservation with the date and time on his phone. There was an empty six top feet away. We were told there was no reservation, and they could not help us. They basically just turned us away, even though we had proof. We wandered around downtown Long Beach in an attempt to find a place to eat with no reservation on a Saturday. I sent them an email and got no response. Horrible customer service. read more

I have never had a bad meal at Ammatoli. I come here often solo, but have bought client sand friends also and everyone agrees. If you're solo ask to sit a the bar when you check in. You'll get in faster usually and the bartenders are solid. Pete took care of me tonight and even when I modified my order half way through preparation, he was able to accommodate me. I would definitely recommend the hummus, it's delicious and they also have a spicy version that I prefer and then I top it with the chicken shawarma (no pine nuts for me) and get the house made pita. It's an appetizer that feels like a meal. FIRE!! If you're with a group, make a reservation. They get pretty busy and a one hour wait without one is normal for the weekend. To start I suggest you grab the Mezza (six or three way) it's basically a sampler platter that will give you a feel for their flavor profile. Absolutely amazing! We came in for a company outing and I was blown away by this restaurant. Our table was ready for us upon arrival, which was great since we were a larger group. The decor in the restaurant was lovely, and felt like we could stay in there forever. Such a bright, and inviting space. The food was absolutely incredible. Went here with a group of 10 friends for my birthday! The ambience at this restaurant is gorgeous! It's very aesthetic, the bar is fully stocked and the center of attention. They even sell their own concoctions at the restaurant. The food was pretty okay tbh... we ordered a lot of appetizers, we pretty much tried most appetizers on the menu - they were alright. I did like their beet root hummus and Greek salad though. We ordered individual entrées. They were alright again. The beer shawarma that my husband ordered was pretty good, but the chickpea entree I ordered was sub par. For a place that charges $20+ per entree, I had higher expectations for it. They were out of their bottomless mimosas. My friends ordered some mango mimosas that were pretty underwhelming too... I don't know how a simple drink like a mimosa can be sub par, but it was. I booked it via Open Table and whilst it felt complicated at first, there seemed to be so many options, the fact is, you get served pretty much everything on the menu. We came for dinner in July 2022, while In Long Beach visiting our daughter this summer, she wanted to have us try this place and made reservations for us. Even with reservations we still had to wait a good 30 hr before being seated, however I took this as a good sign as it was very busy and the food looked grate as it passed by. We all order our meals, ok we ordered allot of food, we wanted to try everything and it we were not disappointed. I love lemon and my dish had the perfect balance of lemon flavor. We've never had a bad meal here. Ever. My wife and I have been coming here for several years now, and each and every time, we have an amazing, delicious, memorable - more accurately unforgettable meal. For someone like myself who was born in Lebanon, and used to amazing home cooking, and my wife from Peru, which has become a culinary powerhouse, that's saying something. I don' know how to pick a standout in the items on the menu. Everything is so fantastic. But, the shawarma with hummus and the grilled halloumi with the watermelon are two of my favorites. 5 stars isn't even enough for how great our experience at Ammatoli was. We went last night 4/10/24 for our wedding anniversary and had a 5:45 reservation. We arrived about 10 minutes early and were sat right away, no questions asked. Our waiter, Pete, was super attentive and helpful right off the bat. He made incredible recommendations, was super funny and charismatic and really made the experience great. I can't say enough good things about the staff and the service. The restaurant itself is absolutely stunning. The vibe is amazing and I swear every person dining there and working there was just a gorgeous human being both inside and outside -- my husband and I were so impressed by the ambiance of the whole place. Now for the best part -- the FOOD. Un-freaking-believable. Everything we had was incredible. We ordered lots of recommendations from Pete and he did not steer us wrong. We had the spicy hummus and fresh baked to order pita (unreal), the falafel and the Mediterranean fries as appetizers. For entrees we did the mixed shawarma (beef and chicken) and the lemon garlic chicken. Both were amazing but the lemon garlic chicken was definitely the star of the show. We also shared a bottle of Sangiovese wine that was so so good! For dessert (even though we were so full ) we got one of Pete's recommendations and I can't remember the name of it but it was like nothing I have ever had before. Some sort of crispy dough/crust, pudding, ice cream with dates and orange blossoms topped with "lady hair" (I think that's what it was called) and I can't even properly describe it but just trust me when I tell you you need it. My husband and I don't go out to eat a ton because we have 3 young kids so it makes it hard to get out but when we do we always want it to be worth it.
