Love this place! I have been here several times since living in the area previously in Monterey Hills across the 110 freeway. Coffees are great, and the food is even better. So happy to find a restaurant that sells Guatemalan tamales . For those of you who haven't tried them yet, you gotta try them; very moist and tender. I love the extra acidity from the olive hidden in there, totally balances out the pork. The chilaquiles is bomb ! The carne asada is so juicy and savory and when mixed with the chips which are half crispy and half soaked with the essence of the green sauce, the best carne asada and chilaquiles ever!!! Used to love this place. I would frequent their highland park location as well as the one in el sereno. I've noticed that the el sereno location usually has friendlier service and puts more love into their food. Last time I came here they served me a burger and fries that seemed to be refried. It was a bummer because I had hyped this spot up to the friend that came with me that last time & he was the one that mentioned they tasted refried I haven't been back since but it's a bummer because I used to come here with my family once in a while read more

My grandma is Guatemalan so this place caught my eye. A really nice option for a home style breakfast when you don't feel like cooking at home. It's definitely simple food but it's plentiful and fairly priced. Nothing really stood out but I did like it and so I'll keep it in rotation when I'm feeling lazy! read more

This place is great. The salad portion was huge, fresh, grilled with chicken for $15 and it comes with warm garlic bread. The wifi is strong. Service is nice. Wonderful, local spot - I will definitely be back. Y'all complaining about pricing are on crack. read more

So we all know I can't enjoy flour tortillas, so I was super excited when I saw their sign advertising Barbacoa Burrito Bowls. If you are gluten free make sure to ask them not to put the tortilla at the bottom. It didn't register that they would. I had the Barbacoa bowl and it was bomb. As I write this review I'm sitting outside in the shade and enjoying their music, with the sounds of Figueroa just far enough away. Staff is friendly, they are covid compliant and the food is good/cheap. From time to time I have walked here for coffee too which hits the spot. read more

I really wish I would of found this place pre covid. It's such a cute coffee shop and the food they sell here looks so good. I stopped by for a quick coffee, I ordered a mocha latte blended and it was really good. When I came it was during the time they were doing outdoor dining and looking at other peoples food made me want to come eat here but they closed outdoor dinning before I could go again. The staff was really nice and friendly. Parking: they have street parking available just wake sure you pay the meter so you don't get a ticket. read more

My sister and I went to have breakfast here before exploring LA and it was delicious! The restaurant was clean and not too loud. The front cashier was really sweet and recommended a few things to us. The coffee was delicious and so was the food! I had the caramel mocha latte and the Antigua breakfast. My sister had the breakfast Chapin. We ate it all! I found LA to be fairly underwhelming, but this place made my experience. This is a small Guatemalan inspired cafe which doesn't look like much, but it was full of people and the food was incredible. I wasn't sure what to expect, but my friend and I split a steak and egg burrito and the steak chilliquillas. The burrito was just okay, but the chilliquillas were amazing. 10/10. There was just so much flavor, and the tortillas weren't soggy like they can be other places I've tried. It was very authentic. I also ordered a vanilla bean latte and you could really taste the difference in the espresso. Menu had plenty of options, and it was fairly priced. I highly recommend it. read more

We came here and the atmosphere was chill and the soft music was playing . Right away felt like home. We had the cafe mixto with mocha . Best best cafe mixto I have ever had. The food is excellent and customer service too! I was there on Saturday morning and dropped my food on the way out. Without a word they replaced my meal. I felt horrible because I made the mess. I am very grateful to them, they have no idea how that act of kindness made my day. I'm dealing with my mom in hospice and was taking her Champurrada cookies hoping she might want to eat. When I dropped my food I almost cried. It's all a little too much. I appreciate how nice they were. For anyone reading this please treat others with kindness. Cute, casual little place with a back and front patio. More importantly the food. Hands down the best chilequilles in LA! The red sauce is so spicy and tasty it makes it hard to stop eating. I've literally never tried anything else because the chilequilles is all I will ever need. They also have amazing iced coffee that is smooth and not bitter, even without creamer or anything added. I also hear they have great breakfast burritos. It gets busy and I hope it stays that way because that means more chilequilles for me in the future. Hope this place never changes! read more

Visited on New Year's Eve. We expected a little more flavor. Maybe I'm being a little hypocritical, but I truly expected a little more. Food is average. We ordered the breakfast platter with black beans, eggs, plantains and two Chuchitos aka corn husk tamales. The chicken was better than "vegetarian" option ( frijol con chipilin) it was dry and flavorless. Again, I'm used to true Guatemalan flavors. Coffee was good and the sweet bread was delicious. Wow wow wow chilaquiles are the way to go here! The salsa verde is truly delicious with the right kind of spicy and tangy flavor that chilaquiles should have. The carne put in the place is tender and tasteful. Guatemalans sure know how to season their meat. The plate is great size for one person to get full, but you can order it as an appetizer. The chips were still crispy (that's how you know you have fresh chips). Delicious! The ultimate Antigua breakfast is a tradition Guatemalan place that brings eggs, beans, platanos (fried plantains), cream, cheese, and a side of tortilla or bread. Let's not forget the meat cover with well seasons onions! This place is authentic and savory. The pan dulcet is so good! Crispy and when dip in coffee, they still hold their state of crispiness. The flan is unbelievably soft and sweet. It was so good! Not too cold nor syrupy. You have to try!! I would definitely come back. read more

My husband and I like this restaurant a lot! Breakfast is delicious, today however was a little rough, food was not up to par, potatoes were cold, overly salty food and the bad attitude didn't make up an pleaser visit. Lady taking my order made a mistake and charged me for a hot chocolate instead of the latte I ordered. Approached the counter to ask and first thing another lady told me was: " the line starts over there! " - ok, I just need to ask a question about my order. So meanwhile the the lady who took my order was making my drinks, I ask her if she can make a latte, to which her reply was " well you have to pay me the difference for it!" The last thing I need on a Monday morning to start the week right is bad attitude and bad food :/ read more

As someone who is Guatemalan, I was extremely disappointed in the food and drinks I had during my visit. I came to antigua bread because I was feeling homesick but it didn't make me feel any better. I think the big issue with a lot of restaurants that imitate certain cultures is that they want to mold into an American pallet. I ordered a hazelnut latte, which turned out to be extremely sweet and the coffee did not taste authentic at all. I also tried their new Mayan burger that was extremely soggy and fullll of relish. Not once have I tried anything like that in Guatemala. I wish it would stick to the true tastes, and culture of Antigua. read more

I tried the chilaquiles, which were quit filling. They were a different style than the traditional version. They used crispy tortilla chips similar to the kind you get in tortilla soup, which actually gave the dish a really good twist. Every bite was flavorful and satisfying. The food overall was really good, and I especially enjoyed the latte because it wasn't overly sweet like a lot of places tend to make them. Overall, such a great little breakfast and coffee spot in Eagle Rock. I'll definitely be back when I have more time to explore more of the menu.

The pastries were fantastic, gooey, flaky, fresh, authentic and house made. I would love to visit again if I was in LA. I got a variety I split with my brother and enjoyed them. Our favs were probably the Passionfruit or the Elderflower Rubarb. If you have never had fresh, non industrial/store-bought croissants these are going to rock your world. The prices and freshness are fantastic. I expected to pay more than what we did and these are reasonably priced. There isn't really a lot of parking so be prepared to park elsewhere. The inside is small and fills up fast and there isn't much seating inside or out. They have other things like matcha and other items as well. I encourage you to try a few items as some were better than others, but I have no major complaints!

Besides the friendly staff, my first visit to Rock Coffee was lackluster. The coffee was OK and the environment was not inviting, so I basically wrote it off. Fast forward to March of 2026... I saw Rock Coffee was under new management and hosting a weekly game night on Wednesdays. They have made some major improvements. The large work space had been upgraded with plenty of tables, comfortable seating, and good natural light. The coffee quality had markedly improved. It looks like they have a brand new espresso machine and the staff has clearly been trained on how to use it properly. One of the best espressos I have had in LA. I now spend more time there at various times of the day and the space acts like a little community center for the neighborhood. A chill space for hanging out with friends or getting some work done.

We got the einspänner latte, matcha spänner, and breakfast sliders (bacon, because avocado was sold out). The drinks were small, but they do pack a lot of flavor. No adjustments necessary, and they had the right amount of sweetness. The sliders were very tasty, and it came in four with two sauces on the side. They use a very thick matcha cream on top, the matcha drink is rich and not watery; the almond milk didn't overpower; the strawberry puree was delicious with small chunks & tasted fresh, not artificial. I currently live in Japan- Rok knows how to do this right. (Don't tell anyone I think Roc does them better) Will absolutely come back many times.

I've lived in down the street from this place for 9 years and have probably eaten here over 100 times. It is the best breakfast place in Highland Park. The chilaquiles are great and the breakfast burritos are on point, but the thing you need to try here is the "Antigua Breakfast" plate. It's a delicious Guatemalan breakfast that comes with eggs, black beans, queso fresco, plantains w/crema, and tortillas. It's big so you'll either want to be hungry or ready to share with a friend. For many locals, this is the quintessential brunch spot. You're really hungry and you're ready for a bigger breakfast. If you're annoyed by what some people call the "hipster" scene, this place will be good for you. It's modern and welcoming to everyone, but it is no way pretentious. The owners Denis and Miguel are really friendly to customers and genuinely nice guys. Not all of their employees are the most amazing at hospitality because some of them are new to the job and a lot of them are working their way through college. This is locally owned restaurant employing people who group up in the neighborhood. So not only is the food good, it's a good place to support. Coffee tip: this isn't the most high-end place on Figueroa to get coffee, but if you're looking for a decent cup of coffee that won't break the pocket book, order a cafe au lait (not on the menu). It's cheap and the kind of thing you can afford daily even if you don't have a lot of disposable income. read more

A great addition to Highland Park. This neighborhood has predominantly hispanic bakeries, tacquerias, and 99 cent stores. It's really nice to see an independently owned coffee shop taking a chance in this type of neighborhood. It a nice place to stop in for a cup of joe or meet a friend if you are in the area. I love the rustic brick interior. And the dark wood furniture. Food: I have tried mainly their breakfast items. Their Huge breakfast burrito with meat, potatoes, egg, and cheese is a like 5.99. Also omelette plates with side of toast and potatoes are the about 6 bucks also. If you go to Corner Bakery or something you are looking at $10+ for a breakfast meal. Not only are the portions good but the food tastes good also. The bread and pastry section is very limiting. They have the very basic Mexican breads. Nothing in that section has caught my eye. Their lattes are great. Coffee has good bold flavor. I make it here for a soy latte almost every morning. I'm kinda glad that Starbucks didn't take the risk in opening here .. The only thing that bothers me a little is that I come here so often and never get acknowledged by the staff. It's like they act like they never seen me before. The coffee shop is o.k. but the if the owners are the same ones who ALSO have the Antigua Breads in Cypress park - they are trying to get a clear message across - that message being that they believe ' illegal ' immigration is O.K. too. They blatantly display a large poster in the Cypress Park shop which says (( Stop the Raids, we are people too)). Sorry but this shop will never get another dime of my money - illegal immigrants are already living off of my taxes, illegal immigrants are overcrowding our schools and lowering the level of public education while costing taxpayers more money. Illegal immigrants are lowering the average wage for 'legal' physical laborers and construction workers. Illegal immigrants are getting free lunches in school off of my taxes and free health care in emergency rooms across the country while I must pay. Any business that thinks all of this is acceptable, especially one which outwardly supports illegal immigration will never get another dime of my business. Our area needs a good coffee shop but I hope this one goes out of business and one moves in which is 'pro-LEGAL citizen' and ANTI-live off the system and break the rules. read more

I had a great experience at Antigua Bread in Highland Park. From the moment I walked in, the place had a clean, relaxed vibe. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The music playing in the background set the mood into a chill, laid-back feel that added to the overall atmosphere. It made the space feel like somewhere you could hang out and enjoy your morning without any rush. I ordered the Antigua Breakfast and an iced raspberry vanilla latte. The latte was really good--smooth, not too sweet, and the raspberry-vanilla is a very delicious combo. The Antigua Breakfast was solid too--fresh, well-balanced, and satisfying without feeling heavy. It felt like real, thoughtful food, not something just thrown together. This spot definitely checks all the boxes: good food, good drinks, clean space, and a relaxed environment. This place's signage makes it seem as though it's a bakery first and a restaurant and coffee shop second and that fills the seats as it's always busy when I've visited but IMHO it should advertise itself as a restaurant/coffee shop first and a bakery second because GOOD LAWD their food and coffee are excellent! I've only been there for breakfast and they offer both Mexican dishes and good 'ole American breakfast and both are very good. The chilaquiles come in your choice of green and red sauces and all of their plates are decently sized for the price. Their coffees are also excellent and for me the best tasting coffees in the area bar none. The decor is nice and there is a patio in front for you outdoorsy types. It was an odd experience which I am going to share with you. I don't want to call this place a bakery, even though it may have a small standard panaderia case and has bread in its name. I've never bought a particularly bread-y item from this place. The first time I went I got a salad, which was decent; it had grilled chicken that was very well seasoned and had a nice char. The avocado was ripe and plentiful. However there wasn't much character to the salad. The next time I got the Antigua burger and that definitely had character. I met up with my friend at this place for Brunch today and was pleasantly surprised. They serve a strong cup of joe here. They have a combination of American and Latin Breakfasts, My friend had the chilequiles with eggs sunny side up. And I had the eggs ranchero. Both were very good, There is seating both inside and outside which is nice. Service is pretty fast also. It can get busy on the weekends. To me the coffee really keeps me coming back. I actually changed to a lunch item chicken pesto and they had no problem switching for me. I was a lil embarrassed but they were happy to do so. The price for portion is probably one of the best deals in LA. I hope this place sticks around so I can try more of their stuff!

They also have a nice menu of hot and cold sweet drinks. Service was good. Friendly staff. There's street parking but you might have to walk a block or two.

Unfortunately, the service has been consistently disappointing. Every time I visit, the staff seems uninterested, bothered, or inconvenienced by customers. There's rarely a warm greeting when you walk in, no welcoming energy, and often it feels like you're interrupting someone's day just by asking a question or placing an order. I understand that everyone has difficult days, and working in the restaurant industry isn't easy. But hospitality is a huge part of the dining experience. A simple smile, eye contact, a "hello," or making customers feel welcome goes a long way. The food deserves praise, but the service does not match the quality of what's coming out of the kitchen. Management may want to spend some time retraining and refocusing staff on customer service and hospitality. Customers should feel appreciated, not like they're a burden. I truly want to see this place succeed because Highland Park needs good local businesses, and the food is excellent. But after several visits with the same experience, I felt it was worth sharing honest feedback. Great food brings people in; great service keeps them coming back. I hope management takes this as constructive criticism and works to create a more welcoming experience for everyone who walks through the door.
