Sushi is falling apart/not rolled properly, food in trays is all cold and soggy. Your food is either going to be extremely under seasoned or severely over seasoned. I felt like I was going to get food poisoning the entire time I was eating. Everything was so greasy. The cut sashimi tasted sour. My boyfriend literally had to leave after two plates to get sick in the bathroom. The service was uhh something...Our table was right by the server area with their bags/belongings and I watched multiple cases of sexual harassment between the servers. My family came in for the holidays, and the wait time was 30 minutes. When we got inside, we were practically waddling from station to station due to how crowded it was. Most of the food was replenished every few minutes, so it was fresh and still warm when we got to our table. The food was fairly average, but they have good selection here... but dear goodness, how much salt did they use?!! Only an hour after dining, I was so dehydrated! It was genuinely the most disgusting after taste that lasted for several hours. Salmon and tuna sashimi were watered down from thawing, and the other half of the tray was partially frozen. It was also disappointing to see they didn't have the steamed snow crab legs today, as it's typically the most sought-after, but the grilled jumbo prawns sealed the deal for me. The food is decent enough to get us coming back. But Everytime we grab a plate it is sooo wet and sometimes dirty. Have to be careful and look out for that... No line on Thursday lunch. Place is clean. Highly recommend you go here after 12:30pm during weekdays for fresher food items. We came at 11:45am and the food was cold and greasy. Seafood and sushi were not fresh. Instead of reheating the items, they just turned on the stoves to make the hot steam coming out and make the food look steaming hot. If you look closely, the steam came from the edges of the trays from the stoves below. The food themselves were still cold. Ice cream containers were not changed whatsoever. There is a lot of vegetarian and pescatarian food. The sushi and some dishes are gluten free. Make sure to try to steam fish, it is so soft and flavorful! The fruit was very sweet and in season. Can't go wrong with Asian buffet style food. They have a variety of Asian food and even a barbecue area. They have tons of other food too like pizza and French fries for the kids. You're able to buy to go per pound in their little Togo boxes. It gets pretty packed her but I've never had an issue with waiting to get seated. It does get loud in here. I got crab legs one time and it tasted like Clorox. Also the staff here is pretty rude, hence the deduction in stars. We recently came here shortly before they opened on a Saturday and there was already a small line of people waiting We were seated very quickly, someone took our drink order, and off we went to stuff our bellies. Still no crab legs but plenty of fried crabs. My favorites were the fried squid, fried rice, clams, steamed fish, and any of the multiple shrimp options especially the walnut shrimp. Our server promptly removed our plates and refilled our drinks when requested. A few cons...definitely skip the Mongolian BBQ station which overcooked our dish and pales in comparison to Genghis Khan. The baked desert station was pathetic but at least they had a scoop your own ice cream for the kids. I was able to nicely end my meal with some good jello, pineapple, and an orange wedge. Popped in here today for a late lunch/early dinner and was well aware of what I was getting myself into. The reviews are all over the place (though recent reviews seem to be trending towards negative), so I dined here with zero expectations. The place is actually pretty big and the selection was surprisingly decent and offered a good selection of seafood. Some items that stood out were the giant prawns, sea snails, basil clams, and fish maw crab soup (thick cloudy soup that goes well with a splash or 2 of red vinegar). There's also a Mongolian BBQ station at one end of the restaurant that most people don't seem to know about. I don't recall anyone mentioning it on yelp or in the photos. Most of my hesitations about Asia Buffet were unmet thankfully, though I did start to see what some of the other yelpers had to say about the place, like cleanliness and service. Personally I'm not a dessert type of guy, but I did see a lot of people swarming the self-serve ice cream freezer while I was making laps around the buffet line... and it was pretty gross. Because it was constantly being opened, the ice cream was getting sweaty, there was sticky, melted ice cream all over the top of the sliding glass panes, and the single ice cream scooper was being used by the entire restaurant. There was no ice cream scooper fountain like you'd see at most buffet restaurants where there's running water to rinse it off. And yeah, the service is pretty awful, but like another yelper said: You're here to eat, not make friends. Overall the quality of the food when I went was decent enough. It was pretty busy, so food was constantly being cranked out of the kitchen. Worst things I ate were the honey walnut shrimp (big sad) and garlic bread (I know, I know). Asia Buffet is a pretty solid Asian buffet that is located at the Buena Park mall. They've been around for over 10 years and it's quite popular on weekends. Currently their buffet is $21.99 for Saturdays. Foodwise; the thing that I noticed is they have so many different shrimp dishes! It is shrimp galore here. From honey shrimp to large prawns; they've got it all. They also have a variety of different chicken dishes. They have chicken with mushroom, fried chicken, orange chicken and chicken nuggets. For dessert; they had a variety of ice cream scoops, flan, macaroons, fried banana, banana chips, mini Bundt cakes, sesame balls and more. Overall I thought their food selection was pretty decent but the one thing that I thought was not necessarily the best was the service. They had plenty of employees but they seemed to all just hang around the kitchen area and weren't too keen on waiting on the tables. I had to flag down at least two times a waiter to get our drink orders. When we finally got our drink order; my aunts got Sprite that was very flat. They returned the drink and the waiter never came back to give them a new one. When I flagged down another waiter for help; he asked another waiter to help us. When my family and I walked in, we felt judged by the staff. They were speaking about my parents in their language, assuming I couldn't understand them because I looked "Mexican." I tried to brush it off because I wasn't going to let that ruin my day or the time I wanted to spend with my family after getting good awards for my confirmation graduation. Terrible. Got roped into coming here for Mother's Day and it was busy- which was to be expected. They have crabs which only comes out every half hour and people are lined up blocking the entire counter where all the other fried food are stationed. These people are inconsiderate blocking every one else from getting food that isn't crab. Management should have changed the layout to avoid this. Additionally, there should be a server that hands out the crab when it ready because the moment it drops, people in the front grabs an excessive amount and everyone else waiting after them are left with nothing- but the worse part is the fighting that ensues. Our table was nearby so we got front row seats to the heated argument about portion because apparently the guy in the front wanted to grab everything for himself. It was embarrassing to watch to be honest. Like throwing a handful of breadcrumbs at seagulls and watching them fight over food. The dishes were dirty and they did not restock them frequently because it was empty in one area for at least half an hour. Many food stations were empty with no replenishment from the time we got in- til over half an hour later. Like really? The little bit of food I managed to get was disgusting. Mushy, overly salty, excessively oily- overall tastes was gross. For $28 or $35 after tax/tip- I suggest saving your money and go to a higher quality place and coughing up another $10-$15 for better quality, service and atmosphere. It's so disgusting in here I am still sitting inside waiting for my family to finish up so we can get as far away from this dump as possible. Whole bar of sushi, the raw kind, the rolls, the fried rolls. All pretty mediocre but good for buffet standards. They got seafood, sushi, Chinese food, even some healthy options like a salad bar and a mushroom dish (have no idea what it is but it was great) I'm American AF so the random garlic bread got me. Fries are good too, the seasoned kind, yum. There's a lack in desserts as is the case for many, many buffets. Like... just serve cookies and have an ice cream soft serve like Hometown or Sizzler's or something please. Run of the mill Asian fusion buffet, nothing special but also nothing terrible! There was lots of options for every food palette so the whole family will have something to eat. The food is definitely the highlight as the dessert is a total miss. The pastries were dry and hard, probably because they've been sitting out for long. The best dessert is the hot Bao Buns. This is your typical buffet with low quality food for a low price. No problem with that as I enjoy deals, but the food was pretty horrendous. Their hot and sour soup was bland. Most of the food was extremely greasy. The crab they offer is set in the middle of the buffet, which creates foot traffic of people standing there waiting for the next tray. When the crab does come out, there is no regulation or someone handing out the crab, so people start acting like animals and start fighting for it. Obviously the restaurant can't control human behavior, but you can make an effort to provide a less chaotic environment. The service is a hit or miss here. Sometimes you will get nice person, but most of the time the waiters seemed extremely bothered when you ask for a refill. Our waitress was very nice when she had to drop off the check, which includes her tip, but she was barely around before and after. This place is a buffet at the end of the day, so we can't always expect perfection, but paying a little more for better quality food seems like a better deal. read more

As I wrote in another review on Asia Buffet a few months ago, still can't get a piece of crab to eat. They allow people to stand there and wait for the next batch to come out while causing traffic problems - maybe even a fire hazard to get to the other food. It would be really nice if people - instead of piling up their plate 14 inches high - actually took two or three pieces and went on their way - this way everybody can enjoy this delicious delicacy.
