Oh, Coho. There is nothing you have to recommend yourself. Sandwiches are resoundingly uninspired. Breakfast sandwiches have always run out before I can get to them. Coffee is fine, but not great. The environment is sterile. Service is slow and waits are long. Why is it you're my #1 go-to stop for coffee? Three reasons: Convenience, convenience, and buy-10-get-one-free coffee cards. If you weren't on my way back from class, would I have ever even known that you existed? Would I be missing anything in my life if I hadn't? Some rumor that pizza was better back in the day. And perhaps with upcoming renovations, things will improve (or are these the fruits of the renovations I'm seeing now? My short tenure here leaves me bereft of some wisdom). But go back to you, I will. I need my caffeine fix, and you're right there, with the right price. And you've got my back, even if I resent you for it. Half price coffee during finals period is like a high-five from God. Or maybe a "go get 'em" pat on the ass. Either way, I'm sure I'll continue pouring Coho coffee down my throat and reluctantly munching Coho sandwiches for as long as I live in Davis. read more

The new coffee house is awesome. And the prices are very reasonable. The homemade hot food always has something you'll like, and generally is really tasty. The new expansion has really made great use of the space and all of the updated look is very college-like. I liked how the new coffee shop is in the middle of the floor and you can sit all around it. This is sooo much better than that little hole in the wall it was before. Some of the food is just OK. I'm not a big fan of the burritos or the pho, which seems like two things they could really nail and have a good following with. The Coho really just needs to step up their game on this front, especially with all the other great food I know they are capable of producing. read more

Some stations are better than others so the coho is A-Ok to me. The best stops are the sandwiches, pizza and coffee. Bagels are ok as I like mine softer and chewier. The texmex station is average at best- the menu lacks flavor and spice The sandwiches are very fresh and the spreads are delicious especially chipotle mayo. I'm a carb addict so I love the fluffy crust on the pizzas. Pizza sauce is seasoned well. My favorite coffee is the mocca java and hazelnut. The baked goods don't impress too much, so I'm just there for the coffee. Also love that coffee is fair trade! read more

I love going to the CoHo! Although it isn't as 'artsy' as some other coffee houses in Davis, it is perfect for on campus! It is extremely cheap and they take Aggie Cash. The food at the market is also really good. I have tried the tacos, pho, and sushi and was very happy with all three in terms of taste and price! They also have PLENTY of drink options in the market if you aren't into coffee! Seating can sometimes be hard if you go at the peak times, but there is always something! I love going and will continue to go while here at Davis! read more

The food isn't like awesome. It's sometimes a bit...different. Not sure in a good way or not. Like I love the nachos, but it's a bit different than nachos at other places. The burritos are a big dry and could use more flavor. But I feel like they're trying to improve. Like in 2009 they supposedly got better tasting dough for the pizza and well, of course, with the remodeling. It looks on par with UCLA now. Also...I kind of like their coffee here more than Starbucks. But most important it's fairly priced. It's a college cafeteria! The food is decent to good, so I would give it 3 star. But the environment and the people are awesome and I feel like they are trying to improve to it gets an extra star. 4 stars! Go DAVIS! read more

One of my favorite places on campus to hang out in between classes. It's always loud and SUPER crowded, so it's not ideal for studying. Unless you get there really early in the morning or right before it closes, expect to have to "hover" over people as they're leaving in order to score a table. There's a pretty good selection of vegetarian options in the cafeteria, including tofu rice bowls, bagels, pasta and sandwiches. My fav menu items are the mushroom stroganoff and tofu korma. There's a huge variety of bagels/bagel fillings to choose from, including egg salad, tofu salad and avocado. Swirlz, the cafe in the middle of the CoHo, is my ABSOLUTE favorite place to get coffee/pastries. They roll out new pastries several times a day due to high demand. If the walnut cheesecake brownie is available, definitely give it a try! If not, their double chocolate espresso or molasses crinkle cookies are delicious too. The coffee there is STRONG, like "drink a cup and run 5 miles backwards" strong, but it's tasty (and cost-effective)! I like that there's a large selection of black coffee to choose from. Their Mocca Java and Colombian blends are my favorite. I think the best thing about the CoHo is that it's affordable -- prices range from $3 to $9, with my orders being $5 on average. read more

I went to the CoHo across from Rock Hall and I bought a juice and ordered a croissant ( and she repeated my order back to me ) and usually they give it to you right then and there , but I didn't think anything of it when she didn't. So I waited maybe 10 minutes before asking if I could have my croissant and she told me that she couldn't and that she also couldn't print out my receipt anymore because it was too far in the transaction history (????). Then I went to check the charge on my card and she didn't charge me for the croissant in the first place - which is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1 because at least I didn't lose my money. Not just the best place to eat on campus, also the best place to work on campus. The hot food line menu is what defined my days at Davis. When something special was out there: Hal's Tofu, PBT, Tomato Mozzarella Salad, Soupa Azteca, Huckstein's Pasta, Veggie Chili and so many more made my day. They've even brought the fun back with the signs. The place is chaos, but once you learn the ins and outs (which is easy when you're going to school there) it becomes the only place to eat on campus. read more

I don't go to UCD and only had a sandwich, but it was a cheap, good sandwich, with a delicious pickle. For Picnic Day, it was somewhat crowded, but they were able to get through the line quickly, with nice and efficient service. I have to admit, I am very jealous of the low prices compared to UCR's commons. If I were a UCD student i'd be eating here quite frequently. read more

I miss the CoHo!! From the hot food to the dirt cheap made from scratch amazing pizza, this is the place to eat on campus. I also worked here on the coffee side as a "barrista" such as it was, and had a blast! All of the food is made from scratch and is very good. I've been on a lot of college campuses and haven't seen one that is as good as UCD's, but maybe I'm biased. The fresh baked focaccia bread is amazing as are the blueberry muffins. As a former employee and former starving college student, I loved this place! I can say that knowing all the food we served and what to add to each thing to make it taste better definitely helped me out. Almost everything was made from scratch and the endless options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner was outstanding. Yeah, some things needed help, but for everything we prepared, you gotta admit the majority were winners. My favorites: sandwiches with garlic mayo (believe me, this stuff is MAGIC!); no-tortilla burrito with rice, pork, lettuce, tomato, and chipotle mayo; orange chocolate chip cookies; berry bars; pasta salads; asaigo bagels with sun dried tomato cream cheese; and of course the ice cream! read more

I LOVE the CoHo-- student-run, cheap, and quite tasty, depending on what you get! I really enjoyed coming here while in undergrad, and taking advantage of their $2.50 pizza! I usually got veggie (despite what other reviews say, I actually like the veggie pizza). I agree though, sometimes your slice is tiny, and sometimes it's huge, so it really depends. The pizza is pretty reliable, although sometimes you might get one with crust that isn't as crispy as one would like. I also really like their black bean burger, and sandwiches, as well as the ice cream. Their baked goods are a mixed bag, however-- sometimes they're really surprisingly good, and other times they're either too dry or too sweet. PS: I had a horrible experience at TxMx, actually... Granted, I ordered a cheese quesadilla. Not my favorite of the CoHo shops though. read more

You just can't beat this place when it comes to convenience. The sushi they sell here is pretty good and the coffee is great, easily one of the top five best places to buy coffee although, again, because it is in such a convenient location, it can get very crowded. Even the professors come here. (Which is probably a good sign.) I also like the selection of drinks and snacks they have here. A lot of them are very healthy and not too overpriced. There's about 8 different food vendors inside the CoHo-- Mexican, pho, salads, sandwiches, bagels, pasta/soups/rice plates, pizza, and coffee/pastries. Definitely not anything to rave about, but it does the trick when you're starving in between classes and forgot your lunch. I personally really like the pizza, bagels, and salads sections, but I'm not really a fan of the sandwiches or pho; never tried the Mexican food but I heard their taco salads are hella good. The prices are kinda ridiculous, but kinda understandable at the same time. But the staff works hard and there are some dishes I actually crave (pizza, tofu/turkey chili, and pesto pasta). read more

As a fourth year student at UCD, I been to the Coffee House over a hundred times and pretty much at least once or twice every week. While the food aren't the best, it is a nice place to grab a quick meal in between the classes. Favorites: Especial Burrito: The value of the burrito is very good for the price, and you also get a side of chips or apple. Breakfast Bagel with Egg, Cheese, and Sausage ($3): One of my personal favorites. You can choose from a variety of bagels to go along with your egg, cheese and sausage. It is only served before 11 am though. Pizza: Not the best pizza slices by any standard, but the taste is fine and there are interesting meat and vegetable combo pizzas once in a while. Overall, I really appreciate the existence of a dining facility like this on campus. Most of the employees I have encountered were friendly,and the food aren't overpriced for the most part. read more

This is great having an extension of the CoHo closer to the Silo. The lines for coffee and tea are much shorter than at Starbucks at the Silo. Plus, their food is much cheaper than at the Silo. I'd definitely rather buy 50 cent fruit than almost a dollar for just one. And more food for the price. I don't want to pay $6 for a small sandwich at the Silo.... They offer food aside from the coffee and tea. There are baked goods, hot sandwiches, wraps, and I believe some soups too. They also have an item called a Chili Stack where it contains two layers of cornbread covered in chili topped with cheese, I believe. They have a challenge where if you order to stack it to four layers (called the Quad Stack) and eat it in five minutes, you'll get your picture taken and posted on the wall. There are only four seats at this Cafe, but there's more outside and inside at the Student Community Center (however, those seats are almost always taken during the day). This place is really nice. I prefer the CoHo over the Silo any day. read more

The CoHo offers some of the better food options available on campus. From a sandwich, to sushi, pizza, burritos, and other things this place will have you covered anytime you are hungry and also will satisfy your need of coffee. Keep in mind that this place is student run, so you can't expect top notch quality. I usually never find the same workers at a food station whenever I go in there so you often will get a mixed bag of inconsistent quality when you order your food. The quality and taste of food will vary day by day; but it's safe to say that you will certainly enjoy something you purchase here. Food pricing is comparable to other on campus eateries; note that on campus food is always overpriced, so you don't feel so guilty shelling out the cash for grubs at the CoHo. Also, finding a table, seat, booth is a pain -- half of these seats are students studying and half of them are of students who actually bought something from the CoHo. Granted this is a college campus and students need to study, but where am I supposed to go to eat--The library? read more

CoHo is student run, and the food there is reasonably tasting for the price, satisfyingly filling, and is better than some of the other food choices on or near campus. I usually get the pasta or sandwiches, and occasionally the pizza so I guess I'll review each of them. The pasta itself is usually well cooked, almost al dente, a little over cooked but thats fine considering the big batches that they make. The sauces are delicious, but the Chicken Alfredo is not that creamy. But for $4.95 for a very filling large, I could let it pass with a 4 stars. The sandwiches are your normal variety of sandwiches. Turkey, Roast Beef, etc. Nothing innovating but hey, who cares? I'm a college student on a budget. You're not going to see it featured on the Food Network, but delicious and satisfying. For the price, taste, and how well it fills you up, this would have earned CoHo a 3.5 at least, maybe more if I wasn't so disgusted by the next part. Unfortunately, thats where the positives end. What would have been a possible 4 star rating overall went way down because of their pizza. I went in the other day and grabbed a slice of the combination and shortly after eating it, I got very sick and threw it up. I know for sure it was the pizza because it was my first meal of the day and I hadn't eat anything since dinner the night before. The pizza is already mediocre. The crust is a little tough sometimes when they over cook it, and otherwise pretty bland, and the pizza itself isn't very exciting in flavors. TL;DR: Pasta is usually ok, Sandwiches are average, both are filling, Pizza gave me food poisoning. Don't get the pizza. read more

One of my favorite places to hang out on campus! Everything is student run, there's food, there's places to study, there's places to chill, and you're surrounded by other college students. Food I typically get from the CoHo include the taco salads from TxMx, a build your own salad from Croutons, and a sandwich! If I'm not particularly hungry, I grab a Rice Krispy treat or pastry from Swirlz. I get iced coffee or mocha blasts from Swirlz a lot too. Everything is reasonably priced and tastes good, especially when you're cramming for an exam or trying to be productive. The atmosphere is great for socializing, studying, and relaxing. During peak hours, it can get really crowded but on nice days you can always sit outside in the quad or at the picnic tables! I find myself here almost everyday when I'm on campus and will miss it when I graduate. read more

Best college campus food I've ever had. It's cheap, it's good, and they use local, organic veggies. Go to the hot food line, or the Mexican area both are good. I sit outside, when it's sunny, on the second flood, and it's very calming during a busy day. I ate here pretty much every day for my junior and senior year and couldn't be more proud. So after falling asleep in History class, I really needed some coffee to avoid having a drowsy day--I had tons of work to catch up on (I guess ditching class last week wasn't the greatest idea). I tried the Light Hazelnut blend since I just recently got into coffee and am still trying to get my stomach to adjust to the acidity, and it was DELICIOUS! Very smooth and creamy, and woke me up within 30 seconds or less. I also bought an Odwalla bar to complement the coffee and it was great. I am now sitting in my dorm room looking very sadly at my empty coffee cup, and will definitely try to come to the CoHo BEFORE class next time. read more

A five star review, only because they always have what I want. -Salads. The salad is amazing at the Cooks sections. The pesto chicken mixed with the wheatberry salad is spectacular. The fact that the workers let me do this, I love them more. I would pay a lot more for variety, where restaurants cannot do because they do not precook the food. (oh god I miss the COHO) -Nowhere in the world has Laura's South of the Border, or lentil soup for 2.50, or any of the other delicious entrees. -The pho noodles is healthier than normal pho and has so much flavor. I am proud that they somehow made this common Vietnamese dish into their own style. I love the chicken and the onions. The baked goods are wonderful. I miss the snowball cookies and the chocolate croissants. -Why are the sandwiches here so good. I've been to a lot of sandwhich places. and sadly they have never been better than what I got at Subway. I would only eat sandwiches from here and wood tavern. -Avoid the burritos, I agree with the guy who gave the bad burrito review, especially since you have many taquerias here. The burrito here is a little bland. But hey, this is why I avoid them. I used to think think this place was expensive. But now that I have moved back to the Bay Area, I feel I took this place for granted. Now I have to wait in line for some over priced food with less variety, quality and taste. read more

If you don't have time to eat breakfast before class starts, definitely stop by and grab a bagel from the CoHo. They have a wide variety of bagels, spreads, and toppings. My personal favorite is the whole wheat bagel with light cream cheese and tomatoes and cucumbers. However, their chocolate chip bagels are also amazing! In the morning the line for the bagel section in the CoHo is extremely long and it takes a very long time to get your bagel. If you don't have at least 20 minutes to spare I wouldn't even get in line. In my mind the bagel section of the CoHo is by far the best section and the most appetizing. read more

As a student who spends the majority of his time studying here, the urge to eat hits me all the time. The Coho is a great resource for students trying to find good, cheap food. I have tried most of the food here and one thing that stands out is the variety. From sushi and burritos to bagels and pizza. If you're like me, you want the best bang for your buck. By far, the bagels are very filling for as little as $3-4. And for you gym addicts out there, like me, don't worry. They have plenty of high protein options like fowl salad, egg salad, breakfast bagels, tofu salad, etc. The only thing I find troubling is that it gets super crowded, especially now that they are remodeling the building next to it. Ahh yes. The infamous CoHo, fosho. Don't let the name fool you, this is more than Davis' version of a Starbucks knock-off. WIth it's cleanliness and polished fast food format, one would have difficulty calling it a cafeteria at first glance. I still remember when it was nothing more than another construction zone, a blight on my morning mad dashes to class. Now it's a fully fledged proprietor of foodstuffs, another cleverly disguised vacuum sucking the money out of my loose-lipped wallet. It almost brings a tear to my eye. To be perfectly fair, the prices of the food here are quite low, for the most part. The variety is strong as well: you have stations open for sandwiches, bagels, Mexican food, pho, pizza, and more. Perhaps most distinguishing of all, though, is the fact that you'd be hard pressed to find many places in this wonderfully large *giggles* country we call the United States that has such a focus on serving organic food. You see those tiny lil' green orbs? Welp, those are apples, sonny. The way God intended them to be. This place never fails to turn into a feeding frenzy at lunch time, and it has always been striking to me just how quickly the lines move despite the massive influx of hungry nerds. That speed is a huge plus for the unfortunate souls, such as myself, who only have 10 minute gaps between classes. I don't eat much cafeteria food, but the CoHo gets it right. Food was okay in the beginning but once you start eating here a couple times a week for 3-4 years, everything sounds pretty disgusting. The only thing I still kind of enjoy is the breakfast burritos but that's because it has tater tots in it. My roommate loves the pizza here, but the Pizza is consistently undercooked and tastes like yeast. He said he likes the yeasty dough taste, but I don't. Let's face it the food here isn't very good, so I usually just get the bagels because the line is shorter and I'm not paying $6+ for something that tastes bad. Mostly just come here for the tables and pass time between and after class. I don't know why I'd give it a bad rating or a good rating, since it is what it is. It's a good place for people watching if that's your thing. read more
