Fresh ingredients, an inexpensive price tag, and deliciously made toppings-- what more can you ask for? My favorites are the shaved egg with roe as well as the sashimi (salmon and tuna) yubus. The raw fish is smooth with a refreshing flavor profiles, and the shaved egg with roe is sweet, savory, and a bit smoky. The Pollock roe with mayo is so good and just hits the spot! I do think that there is a lot of rice, so 4 was too much for me! I tried to eat the Lemon Pepper Salmon, but when I bit into it, half of the salmon was raw. I asked if they can make another one because it was still raw, which they did, but ended up being even more raw than the first time. I consider myself a yubu pocket fan and connoisseur. These are great yubu pockets. Critically, they do not skimp on sauce or toppings. Sometimes a bad yubu pocket can have leathery, greasy tofu or a brick of rice. The tofu here is thin and tastes of nice toasted sesame, and the rice is well-cooked. Texturally the base is fantastic. I got five yubu pockets to share with my wife and they were all well-assembled. The standout to me is the fluffy egg, because I like sweeter flavor profiles, but my wife loved the creamy myungran. The ratio of tofu, rice and topping is great. Here's a tip- don't eat these in the car. The generous sauce means it can get messy. Enjoy them at the restaurant and wash your hands, or take them home. It's nice, cool and clean in there so don't worry. Get two as a snack, three as a normal meal, and four if you're very hungry. (The spicy tuna is very reminiscent of Buldak, if it matters to you.) We didn't wait there as they can text you when your food is ready. Apparently I've been living under a rock cause I had never had yubu chobap till today. Granted Atoyubu is more fancy, still, it's just mind bogglingly amazing. The lines nowadays are not nearly as bad as they once were, and their quality again is very good. Parking is a tad crowded, but it's worth it. My friend and I struggled to find parking in the lot but parked in the nearby neighborhood and had just a short walk to the restaurant. Spicy pork (4.5/5): My friend and I LOVED the flavor of the pork, a bit smoky and just a touch of heat. Lemon pepper salmon (4/5): I really loved the torching of the salmon, but the lemon pepper flavoring almost reminded me of lemon pepper chicken wings LOL. Not bad at all, but more flavor than I think I was expecting. Myungran crab (5/5): I personally thought this was the BEST item on the menu. The roe adds such a good flavor, and though I do wish it wasn't imitation crab, it still had a great flavor that balanced out the saltiness of the inari. This also had the most equal distribution of rice to protein. Restaurant itself is quite cozy and super clean. I loved that they had a water dispenser for people to enjoy with their meals. It took two visits for me to finally try this spot since they sold out and closed early on my first visit. They definitely sell out on certain items, so come early if you want the best selections. First of all, the employees here are super nice and friendly. Before ordering, they notified us of the items that were sold out and that the wait will take about half an hour. Everything is done through an iPad, which is seamless. They recommended about 2-3 Inaris per person, so we got 5 to share. We tried the Fresh Salmon ($4.99), Spicy Tuna ($4.99), Garlic Butter Crab ($4.50), Grilled Bulgogi ($4.99), and Grilled Spicy Pork ($4.80). All of the flavors were yummy and packed a punch in the marinade. I enjoyed the salmon and tuna more than the grilled items although all were special in their own style. A really cute trendy place to get a trendy meal - the tofu skin pocket thingy!! The food was pretty good, i was concerned about the rice to topping ratio but it's better than it seems and the rice absorbs the flavor of the toppings pretty well. Really good stuff. To no fault of the restaurant, this place has a long wait time on weekends so be aware. It's too popular, we had to wait 45 minutes to get in and our food was a little cold too, perhaps due to too many orders. That said, the wait staff and owner were very polite. Something cool this place does is give free plastic disposable gloves which I thought were hilarious but also very useful. This meal is pretty messy normally, once you eat the tofu skin it all falls apart, but smack a glove onto your left hand and hold the thing and it's great. The location was nice, but you'll need to find parking elsewhere. There's a pitiful few spaces (like 12 of them) shared by 4 stores, so I ended up walking over after parking at the target across the street. The place looks nice and clean so it's a fine place for a date. Ultimately I enjoyed this place, but I think I'll need to wait for it to be less popular to actually enjoy it at its full potential. The spicy pork had a sweet taste, but had a little kick of heat. The ginger tuna also has a sweet flavor to it. Again the staff were friendly and helpful and always ask if it's your first time or if you're on a return visit so they can assist you if you are new or thank you for coming back. The place was quite busy today and we came at the right time because the line got to be long going outside. 4 words: I UNDERSTAND THE HYPE. Specializing in yubuchobap (fried tofu stuff with rice) with a twist of delicious protein, it was 100% worth the drive from DTLA. Upon walking in, the employees were already super welcoming & explained the self kiosk process along with the "top 5 most popular". We ended getting 4 out of the 5 & all were just amazing in their own unique ways with a good protein to rice ratio. Top to bottom: the spicy tuna had just the perfect kick for spicy lovers, the salmon was so fresh that we lined up a second time just to get it again (and was genuinely surprised we weren't at some poke restaurant to taste something so fresh!!), the beef bulgogi was just the right amount of sweetness and tenderness, and the myungran crab was so creamy and mouthwatering topped with torched cod roe. We also ended up getting the lemon pepper salmon (not pictured) and as expected, the salmon was fresh however we just weren't a fan of the sour/strong pepper combination. Yubus have been super popular lately so I've been wanting to check this place out! We walked in around dinner time and unfortunately, they were out on the things I wanted to try. We instead got myungran crab, garlic butter crab, lemon pepper salmon and fresh ginger tuna. When we first got our foods, we were impressed by the presentation! I think we didn't expect the yubus to be big! The yubus were sort of hard to eat in my opinion but at least the Ingredients tasted fresh. This restaurant has a super small parking lot. We lucked out and was able to park as soon as we got to the restaurant but I'm not sure where anyone else would park. Hopefully they would have more of the popular items in stock until dinner time. We went on a weekday around 12pm and it wasn't too packed! Our order: Grilled Unagi (Eel) - Honestly one of our favorites, love the taste of the grilled eel and it paired well with the tofu skin and rice. Myungran Crab - Super delicious and the flavors were great! Salmon - The salmon tasted fresh and went well with the sauce. It is one of the more basic ones but it's good. Spicy Tuna - We were warned that it has a good spice level. We didn't think it was that spicy but I can see why others might. The sauce was interesting with the tuna and was one of my partner's favorites! The tuna also tasted fresh. Saw an ads for this joint on Instagram and know I have to give this place a try when I am in SoCal. So glad I got to and they are not disappointed. I have inari bomb in Vegas but this place is way bigger and added Korean twist to it. Got avocado, unagi, bulgogi, spicy tuna, lemon pepper salmon, and garlic crab. Our favorite were garlic crab and unagi. Others were great too but garlic crab and unagi were super delicious. Definitely need more of that when visiting again. They can get super busy so be patience. They are self served. There's a iPad for you to order and the person behind the counter would inform the wait time. When we got there he said 20 mins wait then it became 30 mins. But it's definitely worth the wait and lot of sitting area. read more
