Matcha and coffee... what a perfect combo! I was in the area with my friend, and this shop was on my bucket list for a while. When I arrived, I was surprised by the long line. It started inside the store and extended past four other stores next to it. However, the line moved pretty decently (prob 15 minutes to get to the front). The workers were really nice... they walked out to hand-deliver each drink to customers outside. So sweet of them! There's no seating available for those looking to study here, but they do have a bench inside where you can sit while waiting for your drinks. Our order: Matcha Two (4/5): Very rich in matcha for sure, but I don't think this one was made for me. I like it more when it's infused with the berries or fruits, so maybe I'll try that next time. Not bad tho! Salted Saigon (5/5): Perfect for coffee lovers like me! Just enough sweetness in the coffee and a hint of sea salt creme on top. Nice pairings. Would def. get it again. Blueberry Matcha (5/5): My friend got this drink, and she really loved it! She said it was a total banger, and she would come back for this LOL. Definitely a must-visit spot for coffee or matcha!
Guava matcha is so good, super refreshing! I also like the mango matcha as well. Also, the matcha doesn't feel thick or too heavy. The times I have been here, the line is long but goes by pretty decently. Staffs are really nice and helpful. Only problem here is the parking bc it's a small plaza. I went on a Sunday once and took us like 15 mins to find parking and the line was outrageously long. The store is small but they have a good flow going.
Pretty solid coffee and really really good matcha per my wife LOL. I'm not a huge matcha person so I can't really tell the difference, but she told me it's worth the hype! Don't get discouraged when you see the line outside. They only let 1-3 people inside at a time to order so everyone has to wait outside. I was at the end of the 1st/2nd store? and it only took about 10min to order. There was about 10-13 people in front of me. Then it took about another 10min to get my order, so it wasn't a terrible wait. Ordered Banana Coffee - 4/5 - nothing crazy viet coffee with bananas, but one of the better ones Matcha 1 - for pure matcha flavors Matcha 2 - for some light dressing on the matcha salted matcha foam Salted Bread - 3/5 idk just tasted like bread with butter/salt LMAO Personally if I have to wait 30min+ i wouldn't but if you can get there early and it's only around 10min wait I think it's a solid spot.
Small shop with limited seating. This coffee shop gets a line but it moves fast. They are known for their salt bread, matchas, and coffee. Tried their original strawberry matcha which was vibrant green and had hints of umami. Salt bread was freshly baked with a crunchy bottom. Would definitely recommend to give this spot a try. Looking forward to coming back to try their hojica.
This is a local hidden gem in Tustin in a random strip mall. Parking is abit hit and miss since its a small lot but usually you'll find something just circling around. There seems to always be a line here so be aware! We got there after lunch around 1pm and the line was about 10-15minutes reaching two doors down. They explicitly have a caution line on the sidewalk telling people NOT to block next door businesses doorways! The menu is straightforward and seems to update since we came before. The HOT item that always sells out daily is the sea salt bread. They will sell out within a few hours of opening so its only a morning item! Also note this place is cashless so card only! Our favorite items here are the: Banana Matcha: This is there matcha latte with oat milk and banana cream on top with fresh sliced bananas and toffee bits. Yes definitely get it less sweet for the perfect ratio! Its like a banana toffee flavor with that rich matcha on the bottom so good in this summer heat! Black Sesame match: this is my usual go to since its a more light drink with there signature matcha latte topped with black sesame cream. Its very light for someone just looking for a easy to drink light matcha but don't want a plain drink. Matcha Two: Matcha latte with salted matcha cream and vanilla syrup. This i would say is there signature matcha drink if you are a first timer and want to try there matcha without all the other flavors. Its got a good balanced matcha blended with the hint on vanilla sweetness. The servers are super friendly and helpful here since they make every cup of matcha by hand so there's a long table of workers hand mixing matcha but the line moves fairly quickly. You order directly at the bar so you can ask questions or customize if you wish. I usually get less sweet, less ice or even no ice. They personally hand you every order by name which is a great touch. Overall, a great local matcha shop they we will definitely be back again to try other items especially that salted bread that always sells out!
WOWOWOWOW. Delicious! One of the best matcha drinks ever. The matcha here really shines. They do matcha in a really simple, yet delicious way. The matcha is incredibly smooth and creamy. The drinks are not too sweet, the salt levels are perfect, and have a great ratio of matcha! I will say I think the matcha flavor could be punchier, but I think the way they've done it really appeals to the masses. The matcha is also not really bitter which I am really impressed by! Because it's not bitter, the naturally sweet, creamy, and savory/earthy notes really come through. My husband and I tried the M2 and the Mango Matcha. Both were AMAZING! The mango matcha was sweeter and a good balance between the two flavors. The M2 was straight matcha flavor and so pure. Your preference on whether you like sweet or heavier on the matcha will dictate what will be your favorite. We also tried the Black Sesame Coffee and WOWEE was it great! The coffee was STRONG. Really good coffee. Loved it! And the black sesame was super flavorful. Now let's talk about the game changer...THE SALT BREAD! If you are there and it's not sold out, do yourself a favor and just get it. (P.S. I've heard that the salt bread sells out early) I LOVED THE SALT BREAD! It was actually the perfect bread to match the drinks. I loved taking a sip of the drink and following it up with a bite of the salt bread. The bread had a crispy outside and a beautiful salty, buttery flavor. Loved the crunchy outside with the airy inside. Such a good pastry. I came Saturday around 10am and the wait was about 30 minutes. The line moved quick and once they took our order, the drinks came out SO FAST. The service was AMAZING! The workers were so kind and we really enjoyed our interactions with them. AYER, GREAT WORK! I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK!!!!!
Mango matcha: 5/5 Fresh mango flavor pairs so well with the matcha, so yummy Black sesame matcha: 4.5/5 Loveeee black sesame but tasted more black sesame cream than I did any matcha flavor, overall still so yummy There was a line but it moved pretty fast I would say like 5 min. Drinks came out fast
Orange County Matcha Finest! Currently, my favorite place for Matcha! I've been here since the grand opening and I absolutely love the place. I try to go off hours because this place gets really busy on weekends. The service is quick and worth the wait. What I got here is the double Matcha and boy did they make a mean one. It is the perfect sweetness at 50%. It has a very good consistency. I also recommend getting the salted bread.
I've been here twice now. The line is out the door, but it's because there's literally no room inside except to order your drink. Once you order, you wait outside and the drink comes out quick. Both times I got the matcha banana cream drink. I normally don't like oat milk, but you can't taste the difference here. I'm also not sure if they use diary alternatives for their cream, but if they do, it is still pretty creamy. I'm knocking a star down because the drink was inconsistent. They were still good both times, but the first time, it had a better, more concentrated matcha taste. I also got the salt bread and would skip it. They put it in a cute little bag, but I've definitely had better.
Pretty Delicious! I came here 4x prior, on my 5th, I've decided to write a review. One of my favorite hojicha spots and they do their fruit pairings with matcha well. It doesn't taste jammy and has a fragrant aftertaste. The line can get a bit long but I don't mind too much. The service is always polite and efficient. No complaints! Everyone is nice and they offer adjustments if you need it after ordering. I hope they continue to do well! ^-^
Hmmm pretty good! The long line kind of scared me when I dropped by in the afternoon sun, so I came back another time when it was cooler and found out that it's only 1 customer inside at a time, which is why it looks so long outside. Wait time is about 20 mins including placing order and getting your drinks. Salt bread is always out when I get to the front, so haven't been able to comment on that. Appreciated that the base is all oat milk here though! Strawberry coffee (very faint taste of strawberry) Blueberry coffee (delicious blueberry compote) Blueberry matcha (pretty good!) Hojicha banana coffee (unexpectedly delicious!) Guava matcha (pretty good!) Would be back to try other options available and recommend others to try as well.
Ayer has quickly become my favorite matcha in OC. The staff is always friendly. Line is out the door. But worth it. If you're a matcha lover, this place is a must-visit. Matcha 2 (5/5): The best matcha I've had in Orange County! The matcha flavor is strong, and the balance is perfect. This is my go-to drink every time I visit.
The salted saigon is vietnamese coffee with cream on top and it is a solid choice. The spanish phin tasted darker than my liking but it is still a solid choice. Would love to try their matcha next time. The matcha latte with matcha cream on top looked very green, so you know it's authentic matcha. The line is always long especially on the weekends but it goes by so fast!
The first time I tried to come here, there was a line out the door. I thought there was a promotion or something but it was just their line. Apparently it's small inside so they only allow 1 group in at a time. So this 2nd time, I decided to stay and wait out the line. I did time it and it took 15 from the time we waited in line to order to getting our drinks. So not bad. I got the blueberry latte less sweet-I enjoyed my drink, first time having blueberry. There was a good amount of blueberry syrup and I'm glad I got it less sweet. My friend go the banana matcha and she liked it. The toasted crunch added was a nice touch. Definitely a treat. Their matcha is high quality and delicious! The matcha 3 has basically 3 servings of matcha! It has a bitterness. The coconut pandan smoothie was ok. It sounds really good on the menu, especially reading the ingredients. But would not get it again. The service is efficient. There was a line and we waited about 25 minutes. And the drinks came out within 10 minutes. Ambiance is a small shop and they sell their own matcha powder and hojicha. read more
Blueberry matcha. That is it. Long line!!! but it goes by surprisingly fast. One thing I love is that they make sure that only one group is inside ordering at a time. Once indoors, you can see how they prepare their matcha in a big batch. Love that!! Hence why the line goes by so quickly. I also appreciate the Dairy warning sign on their menu. The person checking me out was such a sweetie. They asked about my weekend plans and sounded genuinely interested, Glad to see they keep a good attitude despite being so busy. Plenty of parking shared with surrounding shops. Would make the long drive to Irvine for this drink!!!! read more
This place is definitely worth the hype! I ordered the Strawberry Matcha with Sea Salt Cream Foam and the Matcha Latte, and both were delicious. They were sweet, creamy, and had a rich matcha flavor without being overpowering. My favorite was the Strawberry Matcha--the flavors were incredibly well balanced. The fresh strawberry purée added a refreshing, natural sweetness that paired perfectly with the matcha and cream foam. I visited on a Sunday around 11 AM, and the line took about 30 minutes, but it was well worth the wait. The staff were super friendly, and once I ordered, the drinks came out quickly. Definitely the best Vietnamese coffee I've had, and I've tried a lot. The Salted Saigon had the perfect balance of flavors. My friend got the Coconut Matcha and it was surprisingly delicious too. The line looks intimidating but moved pretty fast -- about 20 mins when we went and totally worth it. Parking can be rough. Amazing service too, the ladies working there were so sweet and welcoming. read more

[Parking]: Easy and free strip mall parking. [Atmosphere]: This is a grab-and-go-only shop with no indoor tables. [Menu]: Yelp's top highlighted items are Mango Matcha, Salted Saigon, and Matcha Latte. They also sell Korean salt bread in limited quantity, so come early before it sells out. *** Signature Korean Salt Bread (Limited Daily - $4.50): A bit cold but tasted good. Mango Matcha (Made with oat milk & mango purée - $7.50): I see the appeal - the drink was quite good. I stopped by Ayer on a Sunday around 3:30 PM and there was a line as expected. It only looks long because the line starts out the door, with the inside of the shop having two stations: one station is to place your order and the other is to pay for your drinks. It's a small coffee shop and is more of a grab-and-go place. Despite how busy they get, the workers are very friendly and efficient. A male worker (who I believe was the owner) who was regulating the line was very kind and apologized about the wait. Shows the care that they have for their customers. I ordered the mango matcha, which are two of my favorite things. The flavors compliment each other well with a good balance between the two rather than one flavor overpowering the other. It reminded me of a mango lassi with a hint of matcha. The drink is overall very refreshing and smooth, and I would recommend it if you're looking to try a more unique matcha drink. read more
It's organized and run efficiently. The line wasn't too bad and imo moves quickly. Once you order and pay, the drinks come out fast. The cashier was super friendly and very cheery. I got Matcha Two and my sister got Mango Matcha. I was between Matcha Two and Strawberry Matcha but decided to go with Matcha Two. It was satisfactory, but I've had better. My sister really wanted to try their Signature Korean Salt Bread but they had already sold out. They probably had literally just sold out shortly before because we saw people eating it/ were able to purchase one. Parking was easy to find. Ayer is my absolute favorite matcha place in Orange County. I am a matcha snob. If you love strong matcha, their matcha 3 is quite loaded with matcha, the matcha gelato in it is chef's kiss, as it melts the iciness makes the drink so extra yummy. I recently tried the guava matcha and added a matcha cream top because I like my matcha strong and creamy and WOW I am seriously impressed. I did get the mango matcha once and I thought it was okay~ not my fave mango matcha. Downside is the parking lot which can be quite busy and also the wait is always at least 20 minutes to 1 hour. You can't be in a hurry if you grab matcha here. I haven't tried the coffee yet. The workers are always kind. The shop itself is quite tiny and there is a singular tiny bench you can sit in and wait for your drinks. Otherwise it's a grab your drink and go type of place. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. read more

Stopped by earlier today and there was a short line. Parking was easy since it's located in a plaza. Ordering and paying was nicely organized. Service was so friendly!!! I ordered the Matcha Two (less sweet + oat milk) and also purchased a 40 gram tin of their matcha. Once you're finished paying, you stand outside until they call you with your order. They called my name fairly quick and my drink was BEAUTIFUL. The color was a perfect shade of green. I have no notes (I'm a picky person when it comes to my matcha). 10/10! read more
One of the best matcha spots in OC! I arrived around 1:30pm on a Friday afternoon. I was able to fine parking quickly which was nice because it's a tiny parking lot. There was a long line in front of the store and waited in line for about 10-15 minutes. I was looking through the window and saw they hand whisked all of the matcha, which is why it takes a long time. They also had one person taking the orders and one person in charge of payment. They don't do online orders. It's also the place you grab and go since it's small inside with one bench. I got my drink 10 minutes after ordering. I ordered the matcha one which is just matcha with oat milk and less sweetness. I like that all their drinks have oat milk since I don't like paying extra for it. It was so good! The matcha flavor was definitely strong and goes well with the oat milk. Would definitely come back and bring a friend to show this place! :-) read more

Got in line at 10:35am on a Friday. Got my drinks at 11:15. Was it worth it? If you have time, yes! The matcha 2 and salted Saigon were incredible. They were out of bread which was a bummer. Service was sooo friendly and helpful. The price is pretty good too. I've had really good matchas at a couple other places, that were a bit more expensive but shorter wait. So, you decide if you want it. I'll be back for that salt bread! read more

After having Ayer Coffee bookmarked for a while, I finally had the chance to try it out the other day. I pulled up around 9am and there was already a line of people waiting to order, which I thought meant their coffee/matcha drinks must be delicious and worth trying. And their matcha was worth it. The line went by fast, and the staff was so sweet. I got the Matcha One and a salt bread. The flavor of the matcha was so well-balanced. Not grainy at all and the color of the matcha was beautiful. Only thing is their drinks all include oat milk and there aren't alternative milk options, which I didn't realize until I was in line. I'm not the biggest fan of oat milk so that kinda affected my taste. However, the salt bread was really good! Buttery, soft, and not too salty. Because of my aversion to oat milk, I probably won't be back. But I will definitely recommend this spot to people that don't mind oat milk! read more
Always a line outside this cafe and totally deserved. I usually opt to get their matcha one but this time tried their coconut water matcha cream top and loved how refreshing it was! I'm not the biggest fan of matcha cream tops as they tend to be overly sweet but this one had a perfect balance. Ayer Coffee was so yummy! Ordered the coconut water matcha cream and strawberry matcha and both were really good -- but the coconut water matcha was my personal favorite. Perfect balance of coconut water and matcha, not too sweet, just really well done. Easily my favorite version of this drink so far. The strawberry matcha was also good -- loved that they use fresh strawberry puree, it adds a natural sweetness that doesn't overpower the matcha. The matcha quality overall is solid. Heads up that it's a small spot with a line that goes outdoors, but on a weekday it moved pretty quickly. Staff is super friendly, and chats with you a bit. Can't wait to go back! read more

Mango Matcha 4/5 I was hesitant to try the Mango Matcha, but I'm glad I did. Who knew mango and matcha was a good pairing? It's also one of their most popular drinks. The sweet mango purée and smooth matcha combination is worth trying. Matcha Two 4/5 My sister said hers was okay and that she has had better double matcha drinks in the Los Angeles area. The place is small. They only allow one party at a time, so there's always a line outside. The staff are always friendly and upbeat. Come early if you want to try their salt bread. I've missed it twice and this morning, the person in front of us got the last one. So sad. read more
Pretty efficient cafe. Though the line is long, it's a pretty quick in and out once you order. We got the matcha 2 which was a matcha latte with a vanilla cream foam on top. I had heard lots of thyme about Ayer but personally don't get it! The matcha itself was fine, could have been stronger and I wasn't a huge fan of the foam. I wish it was sweeter/more vanilla-y. I wouldn't write off this place though and would be down to come again and try another drink or maybe even the same one in case this was an off day. A long wait but kinda worth it! Long line in the little complex but it moved quicker than expected. Parking is a hassle but it's not like LA parking. From back of the line to getting our drinks in hand took about 45-50 minutes, it felt quicker than that though. Went on a Saturday afternoon about an hour before closing. Staff were very friendly and kind. Made our drinks beautifully. Inside is very small but it's meant to have more space for the kind staff to make as many drinks as possible. Banana Coffee - 9.5/10, the best in the county for sure, the fresh banana pieces are a nice touch and the banana cream and coffee tasted great. Mango Matcha - 6/10. Mango puree tasted AMAZING before mixing, after mixing it kinda got lost in the matcha. Matcha was slightly grainy but it still tasted good. I would wait in line for the coffee again 100%, but I would try the other matcha as well. read more

Small coffee spot located in a strip mall in Tustin. I was in the area looking for pick me up. This place came up and got me curious. It has a pretty good size lot in parking was pretty easy to find. As soon as I walked up, I noticed a line and a few people waiting for their orders. This place seemed very popular. When it was my turn to order, the people were very friendly and helpful. I ended up ordering the banana, coffee, which was a Vietnamese iced coffee with a banana cream top. It was perfect for what I wanted in at the time. Pretty quick In-N-Out and getting a deliciously made beverage. So easy and so delicious. read more
Three visits in and I'm not slowing down. Ayer isn't just living up to the hype, definitely exceeded my expectations. The banana coffee hits different, the Matcha Two is perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness, and the mango and strawberry matchas are refreshing without being overly sugary... they're so damn tasty Even the Spanish latte holds its own and that's something in would normally not order. Every drink feels intentional; like someone actually cared about what went into your cup. This is central OC's next obsession, and if you haven't been yet, you're tripping. My first time playing as a random Thursday at like 2 or 2;30 and it had a pretty long line. The good thing is it really does move fast and their efficient. Absolutely love this place and their matcha! I've been getting the matcha here forever but decided to try to the Spanish phin, and it was perfect. Strong like a Vietnamese coffee, and the cinnamon added a different touch to it. The matcha here is so addicting, you can taste the matcha and it's the perfect sweetness (I got mine less sugar) I do wish I could bring my friends here to drink and hang out, but there's no seating and the ordering system is a bit inefficient. I was here at 8 am on a Friday, and I waited in line for 20 minutes to get my drink. It was worth it though. I never had mango matcha before so this is a new experience for me. Mango Matcha (10/10) - Whatever oat milk they use, it hits. It goes so well with the matcha. I also asked for less mango puree because I still want to taste more matcha flavor. It didn't disappoint. It is the perfect balance between mango and matcha. The full starts with the refreshing sweet mango flavor, and end with the nutty and slightly bitter matcha taste. I would come back again to try their other drink such as the guava matcha. read more

I would definitely come back if I'm ever in the area! I waited for about 20 minutes since it's a popular place at the moment. The staff were so friendly and sweet. They took your drink order, and then you head to the cashier to say what drink you got. After that, you wait outside for your drink since there isn't really a place to chill inside, but hopefully they will expand! I would say my drink came out super quickly after I paid. I got a Matcha Two and Guava Matcha, and they tasted really good compared to most matcha places I've tried. read more
Parking: Large free parking plaza still quite packed. Interior: Small shop only with order and take out counter. No seats. Wait Time: 20min wait on a weekend afternoon. 5-10min for drink order. Items Order: 8/10 Mango Matcha $7.50 - Initially sweetness was closer to 10-20% so it was very light and had to ask for adjustment. Staff were nice and were able accommodate. Matcha was solid in flavor and mango was very natural and medium in strength. Not too creamy but size is small. read more
This is one of my top places to get matcha in OC! I love their matcha mango, which doesnt taste too artificial or sweet- the matcha flavor is perfect! I also tried their matcha two, i personally enjoy getting their vanilla top instead as the matcha foam is pretty strong! Nonetheless the service is always friendly and fast despite the long lines. On a Saturday the line was halfway down the block (25 min wait) and parking was a hassle... but on a random weekday the lines were not too long! The store itself is only for order and go so no seats! But I love how they enforce having people wait outside to order to control the crowd. I do hear their salt bread is good so I will be sure to try that when its not sold out! read more

FAVEEEEE matcha spot these days! so blessed that it's on my way to work i've been to Ayer multiple times now, and it NEVER disappoints. i usually try to arrive @ opening 8am or a little earlier because there WILL be a line - don't be scared off! the staff inside the little storefront is super friendly and they work hard, efficiently, and quickly, so if you have time and there's a line, i think it's 10000% worth it. my favorites: - mango matcha : this place has my absolute favorite mango matcha. the flavor is just chef's kiss!! it's literally made to perfection every time, and it's the perfect balance of quality-grade matcha and mango flavor. it's hard for me to not order this every time oops - blueberry matcha : sooo pleasantly surprised by this one bc i don't typically care for blueberry, but i had to try bc it looked yum! and it IS. it's so unique and the sweetness of the blueberry puree marries so nicely with the umami matcha - matcha two: the BEST standard matcha !! i usually like flavored/fruit matcha, but this one is just an explosion of deliciousness that gets me goin in the morning LOL - i still have to try the matcha three with the sorbet - salt bread: ALLLLWAYS get the salt bread! another reason i only like going during opening is to make sure i can get my hands on one of these bc it just pairs so perfectly with a yum lil bev all in all 20/10 easily! i'm already looking forward to my next visit haha thank you to the ayer team for a great matcha spot! read more

I always come at 8am when they open to TRY and beat the long lines. So at 8am, i'm standing in line to receiving my order, took 25 minutes. Imagine any other time during the day! But it's worth it. Anything here is absolutely perfect and delicious from their iced coffees to their iced Matcha seriously order anything and you'll love it! read more

LOVEEEE!!!! Gave this viral spot a visit with my mom and my sister on a Monday at around 3 pm and that line was longggg! It moved pretty quick though so the wait wasn't too bad and the drinks came out fast once we ordered. We got a matcha 1, strawberry matcha, and a matcha cream coconut with guava puree. the coconut and guava one was seriously unreal I'm still thinking about it!!! The guava matcha sounded really good but I wanted something a little bit lighter than oat milk so the coconut water was perfect. I can't wait to come back soon read more

Solid! Came here on a Thursday morning around 9:10am, and there was a line. It took about 25 minutes from getting in line to getting our drinks. I got Matcha Two, which is like an einspanner. It was really good, creamy, not too sweet, and matcha didn't feel watered down. My friend got the Salted Saigon, and he said it was better than BLK dot, and on par with Phinsmith. We also got the Korean salt bread, coz everyone was getting them. It was just okay, a bit dry inside and bland. I have had better. Also very overpriced at $4.50 a piece. They have them at Tous Les Jours (Hmart) for $2.95. In fact, I think everything was kinda expensive here. The Matcha two was $8 and the Salted Saigon was $6.5. Parking lot was pretty open, and we didn't have trouble finding parking. It's an outdated striped mall, but it's easy to spot the shop because of the line outside. The line was really long and the parking lot fills up quick, but they have a quick turnaround time on orders so it kinda cancels out. Not the type of place where you can chill and enjoy your drink either since it's a very small cafe with little to no seating. The Matcha 2 was slightly earthy and not too sweet, which I appreciated. For those who like to be a bit more adventurous, they also offer other flavors, like the Mango Matcha or the Blueberry Matcha. read more
Checked out Ayer Coffee and really liked it! Got the double matcha and the strawberry matcha, and I have to say that it is one of my favorite strawberry matchas that I have tried! It was perfectly balanced and tasted like real strawberries rather than a strawberry jam. The double matcha was also very smooth and balanced. To order, there is a line that starts outside of the coffee shop. A staff member will call you in when they are ready. Then, you order at the counter and pay at a separate register. Since it is a smaller shop, you wait outside for your drink. Super simple shop with good drinks!! read more
