    Taco Tuesday Special

Great deal on Tuesdays! Food was delicious, my favorite was the pork taco! Excellent service and gorgeous restaurant. Also wasn't busy at 5:30pm on Tuesday night in May!

I would give a 4 for food but a 2-3 for service. We were a big party but there was a lot of waiting and the restaurant was empty. We started with charcuterie that was pretty delicious. Came with little toasties, prosciutto, cheeses, olives, peppers, lots of things. I ordered the seafood paella as my entree but we ordered the fried manchego cheese, croquettes, and shrimp skewers to start. All very tasty. I loved the fried manchego! The paella was also very delicious. We didn't get checked on often so getting drinks refilled or additional drinks was a little tough. Come for the food but don't expect urgent service.

Great vibe as we walked in... nicely freshened up since last open... service was great, nice variety of music and menu choices were good! 4 stars instead of 5 as 3 things we asked for were out! BUT... server gave us other recommendations which were great! Beet appetizer was off the hook great and my mahi mahi on corn was amazing!!! Nice flavors, seasoned great and very fresh! Good presentation!!! We will be back and will order or ask for suggestions as the variety is well served! My birthday ice-cream was served with a sparkler!!! Loved it!

I used to love this restaurant! I have been multiple times over the past few years and almost every time have gotten the same order. Tajín fruit salad appetizer and Mole con Pollo for main. I noticed the fruit was a little different presentation which resulted in a smaller portion but didn't mind it too much. But then my Mole con Pollo came out and it was just shredded chicken breast with sauce when it used to be a big roasted chicken bone. I could make shredded chicken with sauce at home. One of my guests food was cold. Then, we ordered tres leches for dessert and let me just say if you have ever had tres leches before and enjoyed it do not order this. This was frozen angel food cake with icing on top. It was hard, dry and dense. Overall, this restaurant has just gone down hill. Nothing against the service - service was excellent. And drinks were good.

I've been to Babalu twice in the past two weeks! The food is so good, the atmosphere is fun, the service is fast and it's just an overall good experience!

This was the second time here and the food has been great both times! I got two different tacos and Street corn. The pork taco was a little bit greasy, but still overall good. The beef taco was amazing. Highly recommend.

Not sure where to start, the interior of the place is very eye-catching, lots of unique designs, and a very warm and inviting vibe! The music not too overpowering, but a great selection in the service from my experience was very excellent. Our server Kya (Kiya? Kia?) Gave us a great personal experience when deciding on white wine, excellent choice as well as being an overall great server! The chips, fresh crispy, delicious and real, unlike many other places that serves Tostitos chips!

I just wanted to give a shout out to Babalu. we went there today for the first time. It was fantastic! My husband and I just stopped in and we were not disappointed. We sat at the bar and while the food was great, the service was incredible. CJ, the bartender, was awesome! He was so friendly and made sure we enjoyed everything and the best part were the drinks. He knew about the liquors and other ingredients and we were very impressed. We absolutely will recommend this place.

Babalu has been on my list for a while since it reopened under new ownership. I absolutely love what they did with the place - the interior looks great; I love the colors, the booths, the lighting. But the food left so much to be desired. I don't leave many 3 star reviews but having tried a few dishes on the menu, I just left feeling so disappointed! I was happy to see vegetarian options but was disappointed in how heavily breaded and fried the cheese and cauliflower were. They were both just okay... the red pepper purée that came with the cheese was very good. The chorizo taco was probably the best of the three things I ordered. Blood orange marg was just ok, same with the guac we shared as a table. My friend who ordered the risotto seemed really happy with her decision, so if I end up coming back I'll be sure to give that a try. We went on a Thursday evening. We made a reservation same day but it seemed like walk ins would've been fine too!

My wife and I spent an evening at the Marlowe and they were very accommodating as our reservation had fallen out of the system (probably due to my own user error) but as I mentioned they found a table for us and made sure we didn't miss our chance to partake in their phenomenal menu. I had the fall fashion which is their take on an old fashioned and it was terrific and the Rye whiskey played nicely with the amaretto. My wife had some sort of Sicilian wine cocktail that was advertised as brighter and better mimosa and they nailed the description. It was an elevated mimosa that was light, refreshing and bubbly. We started with the wedge salad and potato croquettes. The salad was as phenomenal, the bacon adding the right smoky and savory flavor and the dressings paired well with the fresh crisp lettuce. I was slightly disappointed we didn't have heirloom tomatoes as they were advertised and instead used grape / cherry tomatoes (the menu listing mentioned heirloom and I'm a tomato snob). The Gorgonzola wasn't overpowering and paired really well with the balsamic. The potato croquettes needed a little more seasoning or salt and were somewhat bland but the presentation was terrific and they were cooked perfectly. It might have been the bacon aioli but it just needed a little more zip. For mains my wife went with the Bouillabaisse and asked if she could add a bit of the house made fettuccine to which the chef was very accommodating in making the addition. With wonderful seasoning and an abundant amount of shrimp, scallop, salmon and mussels she couldn't finish her serving. This dish was fragrant and cooked to perfection. I had the filet and it was also amazing. Cooked a perfect medium rare and held amazing flavor. It was a solid and good sized filet that was definitely the star the show. The asparagus was grilled perfectly and seasoned wonderfully. The confit beet was amazing and held terrific flavoring and lended to the beautiful presentation and plating. We really wanted to try the crème brûlée as it looked amazing but we didn't save any room. The service was beyond terrific and Anthony took great care of us from start to finish. We watched the Chef oversee the kitchen and he didn't let a single plate pass through that kitchen without his terrific attention to detail. Overall this restaurant stood out heads and shoulders above other restaurants of similar type and it immediately jumps to the top of the list for fine dining in the Knoxville area. I can't wait to recommend this place to friends and family and this is the first time I wish I could give six stars!

You need reservations; if you don't have them, you risk getting turned away. It's a husband and wife running the entire place. No extra help. They want you to stay and relax and enjoy everything. We only stayed 90 minutes and they tried to get us to stay longer. Like all the reviews say, it's a very European experience. We've never experienced anything like it. We started with an old fashioned and a margarita from the daily cocktail menu. Olga welcomed us with a hug and took us to our table. She didn't stay out long because she is the chef! But it was still cool to interact with her in the beginning. Both her and her husband made us feel like family. It started pouring and he walked outside with an umbrella and held it for 2 girls at the bar. I thought that was super sweet. We ordered the salmon roe caviar and it was divine. Our second course was the oyster flatbread and I ended up being sad I was sharing it. It was that good!!!!! We were pretty full at this point after a couple more drinks. They were really busy too, so we decided to go ahead and get the check. It started raining right after we got our check, so we ended up getting one more drink to wait it out. We had the best time and can't wait to come back!

While we were walking the Arts and Crafts Loop near Gatlinburg (I HIGHLY recommend this as well), we noticed this wonderful-looking restaurant nestled away in the green forested hills across the street. We opted to come back here for dinner on our last night in the Great Smokey Mountains. Sooooo glad we did! Owned and operated by a European couple, the Red Oak has the ambiance of a quaint European restaurant that one would find tucked away in the Alps. While the inside atmosphere is wonderful, we chose to sit outside to enjoy the very quiet and beautiful forested hills of Gatlinburg. Service was incredible and very European - they told us they would not bother us unless we asked for something and that the table was ours for the evening. Yep...we stayed there for three hours, sipping our wine and trying various dishes of exquisite flavor. I'd like to say try this or try that, but to be honest: all the dishes we tried were absolutely phenomenal. We cannot wait to try this place again!
