Our favorite vegetarian restaurant ( Veggie Life down the street!) told us there was a new che place in town we had to go check it out since my fiancé is a che connoisseur and always gets the che at Veggie Life so when they told us to go check it out we trusted their judgement. Each time we came (about 5 times now) we get sadder each time :( First time there was a line and you know us Asians, we love lines for food cause it makes you wonder how good it is for them to have a line. Each time we tried a new che and new jelly item and each time it seems to miss the mark.. It doesn't taste like che but like they used che as an inspiration to make something similar. Their che thai doesn't taste sweet and it doesn't seem like they know what milk they use - every time I ask them do you use coconut milk they're like uhh I don't know. Like how do you not know! You make there it! The item description doesn't say it either so it's confusing what if someone had an allergy and there's no mention of what's inside their che? Heard of this place from a friend. This shop shares a parking lot in a small plaza. It is visible from the street and you won't miss it as it was packed when we came (on a Sunday afternoon). Luckily the wait wasn't long. Everything looked so good we ordered 6 things so that we could try it all. This place is not as much of a drink place (which I had thought), but more of a Vietnamese dessert in a cup. I never knew there were so many different styles of this type of Vietnamese dessert. The top 2 recommended are both a must have! They are also able to remove durian from the drink if you don't like it. It was also very OG of them to give you the ice in a separate bag. Apparently that's how they are typically served (?). A little on the pricey side but they give soo many toppings. I would recommend giving them a try. We will definitely be back! read more

We were so excited to try this. Since Vietnamese Che is a favorite dessert in our group we had high expectations for this place. Within 1 hr of closing they were still buzzing with people and tables were mostly full. We were even more hopeful. There were a few tables inside for adequate seating. Service was good although they were pretty rigid when I asked to change my drink to just mung bean and coconut. But the desserts were disappointing. I realize I prefer it without peanuts so now I just get it without that. you can also ask for ice on the side in case you're not going to eat it right away, and you're able to adjust the sweetness level. it always tastes super delicious and refreshing on a hot day. the employees have been nice the times I went. since this is their newest location, there can sometimes be a line but it's not unbearably long. read more

Bake and Che is a Vietnamese dessert shop right next door to a very popular Vietnamese coffee shop, Da Vien (see my other review on them) I assume the name refers to what they offer: Bake, as in their baked goods like small cakes. Che, the various types of sweet dessert drinks that are full of color and flavors. We came here after grabbing coffee next door, so we wanted to try the 'Bake' They offer a mix and match box (sampler) so we picked one of each: Taro, mung bean, cassava, palm sugar and coconut durian. All of the cakes have a nice subtle flavor, and they all were fresh. There's an option to have them serve it warm, and we opted for that. When we got our order, none of the items were warm. The pandan coconut and coffee coconut jellies were both good. Again, a nice subtle flavor that's mildly sweet. The interior is bright with several tables for 2 or 4. They were blasting Vietnamese EDM so it doesn't really match the mellow decor. These tasty cakes aren't exactly what I would crave, but glad I got to try them. read more

The che here is top notch, high quality and always delicious. Didn't know you could have ice on the side but it's definitely a nice addition when you want to take the che togo. This place is located on Garvey in the city of Rosemead. It's in a Chinese/Vietnamese dominate community. The parking lot next to it is not that big and it's shared by a few other stores from the strip plaza. Next to it, there is Da Vien which it is also new and a popular Vietnamese Coffee place in Orange County. In the same plaza, there is Hot Stone Pho which its also a popular place from OC. I'm glad they opened up a location in the 626 area. This is a great dessert place, popular up and coming coffee place in Orange county that got brought to LA county. This place is a Vietnamese owned dessert place and Their Vietnamese dessert isn't too sweet, it's at the perfect sweet level. Such a delicious and refreshing spot for desserts! I'm a huge che fan and my top favorite here has to be the pandan grass jelly because it's so light, refreshing, and just the right amount of sweetness. I also really enjoy their soy pudding, especially with the bits of coconut meat mixed in. So good! I tried the che Thai as well. It was tasty but might be a little too sweet for some people, depending on your preference. Don't skip their baked goods either! We got the 5 cake sampler and my favorites were the cassava and taro cakes. It does get super busy here and honestly I get why now! Right next to the brand new Da Vien, this corner plaza has quickly become my go-to spot for Vietnamese desserts and coffee. I stopped by with a friend on a Saturday, and it was definitely bustling - lots of people chatting and enjoying their sweets, which made it pretty loud inside. They could really benefit from adding some outdoor seating, since the space gets crowded fast. Luckily, a table opened up just in time. My friend ordered the C1 House Special and loved it, especially because she's a durian fan. I got the C4 Pandan with grass jelly, which was refreshing. We were able to customize the sweetness level and have the ice served on the side, though I do wish the ice had been more finely crushed. The jelly is so hard and stiff. It felt like it's been sitting for a day or so. Cassava: 3/5: a bit on the sweeter side and mushy for me. Bake and Che is a new Asian dessert restaurant in Rosemead. What a treat! Perfect for cold or hot days, Bake and Che has something for everyone. The parking lot can get crowded because of the other businesses in the same lot, but there's a few street parking spaces if needed. I drive by Bake and Che everyday when I go to work and about 80% of the time, there's a line out the door! I highly recommend ordering online for pick up. The employees are welcoming and patient, the menu can get overwhelming but they didn't seem too bothered when I took a while to order. I've tried the House Special (if you're a durian fan you'll love this!), the Thai Dessert, and Three Colors (basically means it has 3 different type of beans). Of the 3 I've tried, I have to say that the House Special is my favorite! It comes with a lot more variety of things inside the dessert vs. the Thai Dessert, I also LOVE but it seemed a little boring (only like 3/4 different desserts in there?) For the price of $7, it may seem a little high but the quality and convenience makes it worth it! The location is clean with indoor and outdoor seating, they have fridges with different types of desserts you can pick as well. I ordered some of their BAKED items and had the Taro cake and Green Layered Mochi. Both were great! They warmed up the Taro cake which made it taste fresh and hot. I arrived at 7:30 AM and I made it to the front of the line at 10:30 AM (Opening time: 9:00 AM) I came here early because I had a party to attend before noon. I ordered the Avocado Dessert Che and two preselect gift boxes - 12 Cakes (Large Box) and 30 Cakes (X-Large Box). All of the cakes are very light in sweetness. My favorite cakes were the Pandan Layers and the Palm Sugar. The Palm Sugar tasted the most sweet, reminding me of a Chinese Bai Tang Gao texture with a Nian Gao flavor. The Pandan Layers is a delicious jelly. The Cassava is pretty good too, reminding me of a mochi cupcake. I'd skip the Mung Bean and Taro cakes. Both tasted too starchy and heavy for me. The Avocado Dessert Che is meant for people that enjoy eating sweet avocado. The Avocado Pudding and the drink itself were my favorite parts. These desserts are quite filling because of the toppings. There was a short line but it went pretty fast. It was a bit crowded but we managed to get seats. Hopefully they will put some outdoor seating with shade? I ordered the avocado dessert, a flan cheesecake, pandan jelly and coffee jelly. The desserts come with a bag of small ice cubes on the side that you pour in the cup. I did not like how once in the coconut milk, the ice cubes looked exactly like the cubed up jelly. I couldn't pick out just the jelly with my spoon. I don't particularly like chewing on chunks of ice, so sometimes it was a jelly cube, sometimes it was an ice cube. Besides that, I enjoyed the rest of the dessert, especially the avocado and what seemed to be some avocado pudding. The flan cheesecake was good. The cheesecake part is more like a fluffy cake that tastes like cheese, not an American style cheesecake. The jellies were fine but I wouldn't get them again. I highly recommend parking on the street and walking there! Fortunately, I had a few spots to choose from as I had just missed the rush. They are currently in a soft opening phase so be patient as they sort things out. Ordered the 5 cake sampler (palm sugar, durian pandan layer, mung bean, cassava and taro). It was nice that they offered to warm them up which did make them taste better but the true star are their drinks. I had the three colors (che ba mau) and I think this was the best I've ever had. You can definitely taste a difference in the toppings they use. Only complaint was with the ice as I'd prefer mine to be less chunky and more fine. Great spot for Vietnamese dessert! I first tried their shop in Westminster, so I'm excited that it's now in the SGV! I grew up eating the 3-color bean drink and I must say they really took this drink to the next level. My favorite is the House Special drink (Che Dac Biet) which is basically like a 3-color bean drink but with durian and other toppings inside of it. I've also tried their other drinks like the Avocado and Pandan Grass Jelly (this one is refreshing!) which are quite good as well. I had to pull up photos of what my friend wanted because she couldn't understand that my friend wanted coconut jelly. It was a struggle. I feel like there's a language barrier. We received our order, it was wrong. My friend was able to speak to someone who spoke fluent English and he was so sweet. He gave her a corrected drink which was still wrong but my friend drank it anyway cuz she felt bad. They added coconut chunks instead of coconut jelly. Visitation Rights: First time at this location, but I've been to the westminister location on Bolsa Ave. after seeing a long line across the street from Luc Dinh Ky. Wait Time: Wait can take a while. Once the hype settles down, it'll be more manageable. Restroom: Towards the back of the shop, there's a unisex restroom. Location/Parking: Located in the SW corner of Garvey Ave & River Ave.. Parking can be a bit rough in the shared parking lot once Davien Coffee reopens at the end of the month. So with that said residential or street parking is preferred. Ambiance/Decor: Ambiance is pretty neat with modern furnishings. Most of the tables when I was there was taken by people waiting for their orders to be completed. Service: Service was good. Qui (staffer) was friendly and answered my questions thoroughly about the shop. Took a while to get my drink and dessert, but that's reasonable with how popular the shop is it's soft opening stage. Dessert Of Choice: I wanted to try the sampler (palm sugar, pandan layters, mung bean, cassava, and taro), but they only had 2 out of 5 cakes during the time I was there. Hopefully, the next time I patronize the shop I can order it. I ordered 2 items at the shop. 1) Pandan Layer Cake: Who doesn't love pandan and mung bean? I sure do! In the 626, the closest thing to getting something like this was Bambu (rip), but this seemed more authentic haha. Also, it seems a bit pricey for the size they give you, compared to bambu at least. The house special came with a little bunch of everything, jackfruit, ube, peanuts, durian, and other ingredients i'm not too familiar with, but seem traditional! I was surprised that the durian was actually very fragrant in this dessert. It's pretty nice! The dessert itself is also quite filling when you finish it. I kinda wanna say that it's a bit overwhelming and feels like you're overstuffing yourself, but I do like the variety of it. Overall, it's nice to have, but also quite heavy. I passed by this store during grand opening of Da VIEN coffee which is next door. It just grand opening and one of first outside of OC. The dessert shop is unique because it has traditional dessert and some fusion. Service is very friendly and very patience with me. Ambience is more like modern cafe and dessert shop. Bright and clean. I bought the sample pack. Grade A for sponge cake like palm sugar, rest of them are traditional types, less sweet and dry. Younger generations may not eat them at all. Really glad they opened a Bake and Che in Rosemead! The first time I tried to visit was on a Sunday at around 2 pm. The line was out the door, but that was close to the soft opening. I decided to go another time instead. I went again a week later on a Saturday at around 4:30 pm. Line was less, but it had appear near closing time. This store does a small parking lot on the side, but keep in mind it is shared with other businesses. The store does have seating inside. However, it was extremely dirty. For my order, I got the Che Thai (C3) and the Che Dac Biet (C2) for my mom. I liked that they gave the option to keep the ice on the side. The Che Thai was definitely on the sweeter side. My mom said the Che Dac Biet was good and not too sweet! She said there were a lot of authentic ingredients. This was a very refreshing option for the upcoming summer days! Finally one of my favorite Vietnamese dessert spots has landed in the SGV, and let me tell you, the hype is real. I decided to swing by on a Saturday morning around 10am and yup, there was already a line forming. I almost dipped thinking it'd be a long wait, but I'm glad I stuck around. They were fully staffed and ready. I ordered two of the House Special CHÈ ĐẶC BIỆT with less sugar, and a Durian Pandan BÁNH DA LỢN SẦU RIÊNG mochi. The wait after ordering was only about 10 minutes they were flying through orders. Love that they separate the ice so your chè doesn't get diluted until you're ready to eat major bonus points. The durian pandan mochi was chewy, fragrant, and subtle (in the best way). As for the house special chè loaded with toppings, creamy, flavorful, and full of textures in every bite. If you're sensitive to sweetness, I definitely recommend asking for less sugar since the toppings are already syrupy. So hyped they opened a location closer to home. If you're a fan of chè or Vietnamese desserts in general, this spot is a must. Don't let the line scare you it moves fast and it's totally worth it. read more

Very busy when you go during peek hours and finding parking is also a challenge. But if you overcome these obstacles then you will reap the rewards/benefits. I am so excited that Bake & Che opened a location closer to me. I was there when they had their grand opening in their first location in Westminster. Their Che, dessert, and baked snacks are always made fresh. This is the first time I am trying the Che Thai, I'm usually a Che Ba Mau but wanted to try a new menu item. I love how you can adjust the sweetness and the ice level as well. I would totally recommend you coming during their soft opening before they become super busy! read more

I tried the avocado. Chunk of avocados. I mean a good amoubt of it. They are not skimping out on it. Thats great and really really good. If you love avocados. This is a must. Thai dessert, it tastes awesome as well. The place is busy. By 1:15 pm, they sold out the palm sugar cake. And the samples box. I walked out with 2 pandan cake and 2 cassava.
