Since there's no seating inside, I went to nearby Alamo Square to check out the goods. I sampled the fish cake banh mi first and then committed to eating the tofu banh mi and saved the rest of the fish cake for later. The fish cake was particularly good, and there was a generous portion of it. The banh mi was a bit messy though, so the pair of napkins in the takeout bag came in clutch. I next tried the tofu, and it was just okay. Compared to the fish cake, it was rather plain. The tofu itself wasn't marinated, so it relied on the sauce and egg butter to carry it. My overall first impression is that the ingredients here are fresh, and service is efficient, but the style of the banh mi leans more fusion than strictly authentic. Came here twice and their register never prints out or emails receipts because it's been broken for months. Ordered chicken vermicelli and dac biet banh mi. The vermicelli is fine, doesn't taste authentic though because the sauce wasn't made with fish sauce, the dac biet sandwich was missing the different types of meat.
