The one star rating has nothing to do with the food, but rather the service. It's Sunday, July 15th, & I sit down at the bar. There's one other customer, but by the time my order is taken 3 men and have been fully waited on, it's not lost on me that these men are white as I'm a woman of color. The server is also white. She perked up talking to the white guys, me, nothing. She knew I was agitated and barley said anything, still I left a tip because perhaps the next black customers she won't ignore. What else am I supposed to decipher from this? I will never go back and will not recommend this establishment. read more

My husband and I are early risers, and this is our go-to spot on Saturday mornings when we're awake and hungry long before brunch hours and don't want to cook. The food is great, service is reliable, and I love the coffee. There are a lot of Southern comfort food establishments to choose from in Atlanta, but I think Bantam + Biddy puts just enough of an individual spin on theirs to make it a personal favorite of mine. read more

Visited this restaurant on a Friday night at 7pm. Group of 4 adults. No wait. Atmosphere is breakfast diner style with large dessert case. Gingham shirts and butcher block tables. My husband and I had the vegetable plates. I was disappointed in the selection. I had the side salad (crammed in small bowl but nice), garlic and spinach (very tasty), cheesy mashed potatoes (typical) and a cucumber type salad(tasteless). We shared the fried green tomatoes with our friends (ok). The benefit of Bantam and Biddy is that many of the items are Gluten Free. A person in our group has Celiac and is very cautious about the food. This place passed the test. We will return for this reason. read more

I've eaten here three times and I always leave wondering what the point was. It's not that anything is especially bad, it's that it isn't particularly good, especially at its price point. Breading on the chicken fingers is overdone and leaves them on the dry side. Garlic spinach is garlic spinach; you can't screw that up. Broccoli jalapeño slaw is a nice take on slaw. But that plate costing $15 before a tip boggles my mind. Service today was lackluster; my water came out just before my lunch, and the place wasn't busy. read more

My family of four was visiting from Virginia. I was super excited to try this place as they had many gluten free options and I have Celiac disease. We were seated pretty quickly but waited about 15 minutes for a waitress to come to the table. Our waitress Brooke took our order. I wanted to order lunch and was advised they don't serve lunch till 11:30am. I questioned the menu because the bone in chicken says they serve it on the weekends beginning at 11am. She stated no lunch is served till 11:30. We had timed attraction tickets so we decided to order breakfast. After 40 minutes of waiting for our food I had to track down Brooke, as she had not been back to the table, to find out where our food was. She said it's coming. I advised her that other people who came after us have gotten their food and are leaving. She said sorry it's coming. Well we waited another 10 minutes and I had to track down Brooke again. I advised her we can't wait any longer for the food. She said oh it is just getting ready to come up. I said that's what you said 10 minutes ago. We have been here for over an hour still waiting on our food. I have a 9 & 7 year olds that are starving. Very disappointed in the service. read more

The chicken and waffles. OMG. I have to be brutally honest. I have come here multiple times and have had the Chicken and Waffles every single time. It never ceases to amaze me. It could be combined with the fact that I'm scared to try anything else and possibly have something ruin my great expectations from this place, but my wife has had their southern breakfast and has really really enjoyed it. But back to the important thing: CHICKEN. AND. WAFFLES. They are the best I have ever had. The fried chicken is crunchy on the outside but sooo juicy. The waffles are clouds. Literally they must have some cloud particles from how airy they are. And their syrup is sweet enough to not give you diabetes but just enough that it doesn't taste like IHOPs syrup. I just had brunch here, and I was pretty amazed at how quickly the food came out even though the entire place was packed. The food was awesome and really decent portions. Overall I've got great things to say about Bantam and Biddy. I'll start with a couple of negatives. I think the the prices are a bit high. Especially, since some dishes are pretty much a la crate so if you want bacon with your pancakes, you have to pay another $4. That's a little crazy. A petty comment, the gravy for biscuits are way too creamy. The positives- the service has always been fantastic! I eat breakfast mostly since I live close by. I especially like Kory, Jeff, and Natasha. They are friendly and engaging, but not like all over you all the time. It's a good balance. Also, the food is really good. It's helpful to be able to find good food that is gluten-free. I def recommend you try it. read more

We go to the one in Alpharetta quite a bit as my daughter loves roast chicken, corn bread and sweet potato fries. I found the food here to be exactly the same as the one in Alpharetta which I appreciated. I will also say that the service was awesome. They seated us promptly, got us a high chair that wasn't gross/broken (why is that so rare?), took our order without much wait, brought our drinks quickly and brought the food quickly. All in all, a good experience and the fact the treat my daughter so well and that the food is consistent is a huge deal for us. read more

A nice little surprise in Ansley Mall. I've eaten here twice now and I had a great dining experience both times. Most recently I had a client here from Alpharetta for lunch. She asked where should we eat? Since this is near my job and it was good last time I figured it was a safe bet. Also, most people eat chicken. I warned her "it's in a strip mall, but I assure you it's good. Anyway, there will be plenty of parking" . When we walked in she said "oh , this place is cute!" So a seal of my approval from my client. Our server was really friendly, answered all of our questions and kept our glasses full. My lunch, chicken salad sliders , was awesome. Three little sliders, they even had a slice of hard boiled egg in it. Side of duck fat fries? Yes please! I'll definitely be back sooner than later. Judged purely on the food, Bantam + Biddy would be a solid 4 stars -- broad menu, great sides, solid comfort-food entrees, tasty breakfast all day. The location is nice, as well - they make the best of a narrow space in Ansley Mall with some pleasant outdoor seating. But the service situation is different. I am not a fan of Yelpers who ding a restaurant for a single unfortunate incident with a waiter, so I held off writing this until I had some repeat performances. But between my own experiences and those of my friends, I think there's a problem. My first visit was soon after opening, and while our waiter was pleasant and eager, he was a bit of a mess - slow on the refills, unclear on some menu items, etc. Second visit, the waiter was aloof - she wandered by from time to time, and despite our up-front notice that we were catching a movie, she barely got us out of there in an hour and a half (we made our movie, but just). My last visit, however, is what motivated this post. I arrived ahead of my parents by about 5 minutes for lunch, and I stood in the front of the store for 5 minutes, passed several times by waiters and hosts, before I stared one of them dead in the face and asked if I could have a table. She frowned, abruptly said "there's room at the bar," and I said there would be three. She smirked, said "See me when they're here," and turned her back on me. Four parties entered after I did, and soon I was waiting for my parents among six adults and two children. To be fair, the entrance area is cramped and the host stand is blocked from the door by a large refrigerator case, but these are part of the problem, not excuses for it. When my family arrived, we were seated 10 minutes later outside. Our waiter was snarky, impatient, and never refilled any drinks until the food arrived. Again, we weren't able to complete the B+B experience in less than 1.5 hours. This is fixable stuff, folks. The food is right, the space is solid, just get the service straight and this could be a solid addition to the neighborhood. The fact that they are already working on their second location before making this one work doesn't give me much hope, though. read more

I was visiting Atlanta on my spring break and I was searching for a good place to try chicken and waffles. Tons of places popped up in my search but this place stuck out to me. It has a nice farm fresh and modern feel and they're menu has an array of healthy dishes. The chicken and waffles on the menu says it comes with a bacon cheddar waffle which sounds different but appealing. I was about to order that but my waitress Tabatha suggested the banana bread waffle and it made all the difference. I've never had a waffle like that before and I can confidently say it was the best waffle I've ever had. The banana gave it that rich sweetness and the pecans with the texture and crunch, all together in a fluffy Belgium waffle. I'm usually hesitant to get chicken from places because it tends to be dry sometimes, this was not the case. The chicken was nice and tender and it paired very well with the waffle, it's even better if you dip the chicken in the syrup. All in all this place was a hit and if it didn't live 600 miles away I'd be here every week trying something new. read more

We have been here a few times and the food and the service has always been decent. Unfortunately we did not have a very good experience over the weekend. Our first issue was that the service was remarkably slow. Our waiter came by to introduce himself and then he promptly disappeared for about ten minutes. Our order was taken. And then we waited, and waited, and waited for our food to appear. I couldn't help but notice that the people who sat down after us got their food before us. We were also sitting directly in front of the kitchen and I could see plates of food waiting to be brought out but apparently they had only one food runner and he was too busy talking to his coworkers to get things out. All the while our server had completely disappeared. I had to flag down another server to get ours to come to the table. When he did finally come he asked me if I was ready for the check and did not even notice that we had yet to get our food. Finally our food to come out but we had to send it back. My wife had asked for no mayo on her sandwhich but this did not happen. I had ordered the poutine but it was lukewarm and apparently it had been sitting around for several minutes. They remade my wife's sandwhich but when it was brought out again it was missing bacon. My poutine was once again lukewarm. What was really frustrating was that our server once again disappeared and it took him several minutes to check and see if everything was allright. The nail in the coffin was that it took another several minutes for our waiter to reappear to so that we could ask for the check. This was not a great experience to say the least. read more

i try not to give reviews based on service, as it's a largely unpredictable thing and rather unfair to give a restaurant with awesome food and a cool space a one or two star rating because a server had an inept night. It's a great addition to my repertoire of lazy mom dinner options. I love the family meal to go- a rotisserie chicken, some good sides (creamy delicious mac n cheese, mashed potatoes and healthier options like broccolini or spinach salad), jalapeno bread, organic green salad, and a jug of iced tea. Call ahead, pick it up, 40 bucks and call it a day. I was charmed by all the menu options and the full bar, which even has self-satisfied specialty cocktails and a modest wine list. The space is small but well-designed and the patio is nice enough and allows for good overflow from the dining room. It seemed like a great place to take the kids for a celebratory dinner following their excruciating grade school band concert. I'm not sure what made us so forgettable given how gorgeous and well-dressed the lot of us are, but our meal lasted about two hours and we had to get up and ask for everything. We finally got our check at 9:30 after I'd asked for it several times. I was never entirely clear on who our server was and maybe they weren't, either. i don't think we'll be back soon for a sit-down experience but we will be doing a lot more take out. read more

I agree with all the reviews here regarding bad service. First time I came in here, service was ok, not great. Lot's of waiting for what seemed a fully staffed restaurant with not a lot of patrons. Second time, I came in, there were only around 5 ppl in the place. I sat at the counter and "bro" said he would be with me in a sec. I actually left cause it took him so long to get to me and all he was doing was straightening up behind the counter. Stupid hipsters, ruin everything. Since this was our 1st visit here (someone from the Botanical Gardens recommended it), we asked our waiter Jason for a recommendation. He insisted we had to try the chicken and waffles, their signature dish, and told us if we didn't like it, we could order something else. We were SO happy he made us order it! Small portions, but worse the food was tasteless and I am not sure how you can define a CHICKEN POT PIE as at bowl of tasteless broth with chicken chunks and maybe 4 tiny vegetable chunks and a ROCK they claimed was biscuit..... which qualified this abomination as a "CHICKEN POT PIE". Not sure where they grew up... but a CPP is an enclosed pastry dish with the chicken, veggies, and creamy tasty flavored creamy broth (not clear from the cisco truck canister broth) that you cut into and enjoy a true southern delicacy. Neither of our party could stomach the interesting dish for more than 2 bites and we got up and left. Now during our LONG wait for the less than joyous entrees (which were delayed due to the Brick biscuits still in the oven. they made a huge deal over the delay, which we had not even noticed since we were socializing. They were kind enough to bring desert offerings to make up for the delay in our Entree. But a tad awkward to have desert prior to appetizers and the main Entree. So we let it on the table. Once we decided that the food was best trashed. we left everything on the table and walked out. The kind heart and well meaning "manager" followed us down the sidewalk wanting to "make things right" and took my CC for a refund. This I thought was quite appropriate, until I got the receipt and noticed she only refunded the 2 HORRIBLE dishes and failed to realize that we had left our drinks, and their "free deserts" (I had taste tested their deserts a few nights before.... and lets just say.... I happily left the entire plate of deserts untouched.. Now the worst and most important is that they are BIZARRELY OVER PRICED for a fast food "Cracker Barrel" type restaurant model. GREAT PLACE if you are a diet ...because your going to leave hungry from the small portions.... assuming you can tolerate the food that arrives. This is such a cute rotisserie place which gives you that feeling of Southern cook. They also have gluten free and vegan food to offer which many places don't offer. The menu offers different food all that is marked with vegan and gluten information. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, I went during lunch time. They are offer seats outside and inside of your choosing. They have soups, wraps, salad sandwiches etc to choose from. I had ordered a rotisseeis chicken which comes with leg and breast with sides. The way the chicken was made it was amazing! It was juicy and full of flavor, I was really enjoying this chicken. It also came with jalapeño cornbread which was soft with kick of spice. I also enjoyed my side which was macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes, they also offer many more side to choose. They also have fresh dessert they make like pies, cakes and etc. The atmosphere there is casual home feeling, the staff is very friendly and helpful. When visiting Atlanta, a friend of mine took me to Bantam + Biddy for a late lunch. I had the meatloaf entree with creamed grits and duck fat fries. Everything was quite tasty - not remarkably so (thus 4 stars rather than 5) but still quite good. The restaurant was clean, and the service was pretty good as well. We had a maybe 5 min wait for a table outside and while we were waiting, I took a menu and was looking it over and our server came up and literally took it out of my hand and said follow me. Um...thanks. I had the protein scramble and the best part of it was....the bowl of fruit. The dish itself lacked any flavor or seasoning at all. Man friend had the local omelette which was better than my dish. Had to chase down the server for his orange juice since we still didn't have it 20 min after we ordered it. We both left saying "Meh." I love this place, I can't believe it gets bad reviews! First off, to appease people they changed the name of the chicken pot pie to chicken and vegetable stew (its more of a chicken pot "stew" with a huge biscuit sitting on top). I don't care what it's called, it's freaking awesome!! It has a lot of flavor, and the chicken is freshly pulled, not cubed or chunked. Also, I've been here twice and never experienced bad service. I came for breakfast, but it stops at 11:30 am Mon-Fri... So I tried mostly the snacks! The fried chicken tenders were delicious & gluten free... 3 comes with the snack an its more than enough... I tried the deviled eggs and they were good with a great smoked flavor, but I had to add a little sea salt for taste. Lastly, I tried the chicken Brunswick stew & it had great flavor (especially for cold days), that included a gluten-free jalapeño corn muffin and it was delicious. The side of bacon was limp and a bit too spicy for my liking. I will definitely be back for the Big Chicken Skillet & gluten free pancakes!!! The servers seem to work as a team and at a fast pace.
