This spontaneous culinary experience for this foodie had to be done, after we saw how many people were dining indoor and outdoor at this restaurant! We were searching online for Napa holiday events for the day and saw Stanly Ranch had a tree lighting ceremony scheduled the evening of our Napa day trip, so off we drove from St. Helena to Stanly Ranch. After viewing the beautiful Christmas tree, we were excited to be told by the Bear receptionists that an outdoor patio table was available for us. Our unforgettable dining experience on their beautiful, relaxing patio started with the consumption of the most satisfying sourdough round freshly baked and served with the most delicious butter I have ever tasted, as it had nasturtium leaves & flowers, cultured butter, buttermilk. The snapper was the fluffiest I have ever enjoyed and was culinary perfection with 'nduja, pickled jimmy nardello, charred olive. The delectable wolfe ranch quail cooked with huckleberry bbq, pickled coastal huckleberries and served with johnny cakes and quail liver mousse was a perfect combination. I tasted the best carrots I have ever eaten with the chef's culinary artistry evident in this side dish. It was cooked with guajillo, sumac, blue basil, which made me want to keep drizzling the sauce over the carrots. The new potatoes were roasted perfection and topped with scrumptious fiscalini, toasted yeast, milk powder, which was so mouth-watering that I asked for more on the side to drown the potatoes with this fluffy goodness. One of my fav parts of restaurants is when there is an open kitchen to see the culinary experts in action, which I enjoyed seeing at Bear. Service was impeccable, with my dietary restriction needs taken care of, and the manager checked on us too. Seeing the quiet and beautiful grounds and starry sky above Stanly Ranch, as we left the restaurant, was a perfect way to wrap up our Stanly Ranch visit. I hope to return for a daytime trip to Stanly Ranch to enjoy wine, view their ranch in the daytime, and taste their breakfast items that are already calling out to me from the menu! Highly recommend the shakshuka and pork belly with pastrami spice. My husband said the pork belly literally melted in his mouth. My friend and I stopped in for brunch one Sunday morning to treat ourselves. The vibes are impeccable, cute cozy vibes with the fire place but expansive tall ceilings. We were greeted and seated right away. Loved that they offered sparkling water and they brought our coffee out right away. Side note love the giant coffee mugs so I do not have to constantly ask for a refill. Their menu is simple (which I love), but one or two more non egg centric dishes would be great. I ordered the pancakes and my dining companion ordered an omelet. Their dish came with a side salad, unfortunately the salad had a little friend in it (a little too farm to table). Once we got our servers attention (to be fair the dining room is huge) they and the rest of the team were extremely responsive in getting her a new dish quickly. Food and ambience were fantastic! Service needs some help - they couldn't manage a table of 4 adults and 5 kids. Our server was attentive in the beginning then ignored us after the main meal was served. Our kids got up to go play in the yard and then someone asked us to take the table they were sitting at. We didn't know what to say so we agreed. We hadn't been asked if we wanted desert yet or offered our bill. So then our kids came back and we all were standing around a small table. We spent over $700 and felt like we weren't treated at the end very well. There's some items that are great and some that are just ok. We stayed there for a week, so we were able to try everything. Breakfast sandwich and potatoes was not great, but chia seed pudding and shashuka were both delicious. For lunch, the fried chicken sandwich is the best I've ever had. We ordered the crispy rice delivered to the room and it wasn't great, but the hamachi, tuna tar tar, avocado were all great. 3.5 stars for consistency, but rounding up to 4 stars. Beautiful hotel. We had wanted to dine here as we had heard it was part of the Auberge resorts. The grounds are very pretty and use a lot of stone for a woodsy feel. Upon entering the restaurant it is spacious and bright with lots of glass and natural light. Felt very chic, modern and upscale. We were here for a Sunday brunch and to dine with a dear friend. My wife went with the egg white omelet while I chose the breakfast sandwich. The service was a bit slow but the food was flavorful and satisfying. Presentation was simple but nice. I came here on mothers day as a party of 4. On mothers day, they had a set menu for the table to share and a choice of an entree. The appetizers for the table i felt the portions were too small and did not represent the actual amount of food if I were to have ordered this set menu as a party of one if that makes any sense, but i also that no one here is complaining about the price vs food portions. Mothers day is naturally more expensive than regular meals. None of the food really blew my mind. The biscuits and caviar were probably my favorite dish. The biscuits were really fresh and buttery. I was really looking forward to the king crab legs but I barely got a taste of it, the portion was so small. I ordered the peppercorn crusted tenderloin and i didnt really like it at all. The flavor was a miss for me. The buffet of desserts were really good. All of the desserts tasted good and well made. My daughter told me she was given a private tour of the kitchen and she was very impressed with how clean and how the food was prep and etc so I decided to randomly go there. The food was of high quality, some of the vegetables and other ingredients were from their garden, but man, the food was so bland and overpriced. We had brunch on a busy Sunday and enjoyed every morsel and drink by their chef and mixologist. I ate a little lighter this time around but the biscuit with their homemade jam should be boxed up and sold separately when you walk in as that is how good it is. The ham and cheese fritters are deep fried balls of goodness that you will want an unlimited supply for your table. Don't forget to dip them in the quince preserve! What a way to start the morning. Beautiful surroundings, and a fantastic breakfast/brunch. This was the best burger I have ever had. I wish I could've remembered the name of the girl who served us, but she was absolutely fantastic. So full of life and friendly and hospitable. My friend and I took her suggestions on the drinks that we ordered and both were so perfect. The first one was the bloody Mary and the second one was called ranchers ...something. It had tequila and some other ingredients that were delicious. Our food was beautifully prepared. Two of us had the burgers put on mine I added an egg. It was a good move . So flavorful and because of the best ingredients, it was the best! (Better than In n Out and I love me some In n out!). We also had the crab Benedict, it was very good, but could have used a touch more seasoning. The lox on buckwheat was nice. The waffles had a sweat flavor that complemented the lox. Every time I go to Napa, we always go to the same restaurant for lunch - but I am SO glad we decided to switch it up and try out Bear! This place is GORGEOUS. I loved the decor and design of the restaurant, it looks very modern but still cosy. I ordered the Hibiscus Sour cocktail, which was beautifully presented and garnished. For my main dish I went with the halibut. This dish was absolute perfection and also beautifully presented. After lunch we walked around the garden, where their gardener was super helpful and answered a bunch of random gardening questions we had. Hands-down, the best meal I had in Napa! (And that's saying something.) The intentional service begins as soon as you exit the car. There are people there to meet, warmly greet, and direct you. We did not stay at the resort, but were there for an anniversary dinner. I read that arriving early was recommended so that you have time to walk the ranch. We were given a ride to Infinity Hill, the highest point on the ranch, overlooking acres and acres of meticulously maintained Vinyard. We took pictures there, then went to eat. As soon as we walked in the door, we were greeted by name and our anniversary was acknowledged. The staff meetings must be off the chain at Bear. Everyone we encountered congratulated us. Our service was textbook: engaging, knowledgeable, at-the-ready, professional, pleasant! Previous reviewers raved about the crunchy rice, which my wife loved. I was a little trepidation initially about the bison, but for no reason. It was excellent! We paired our butterflied trout (OMG!) with potatoes, broccolini, and a local rose. Magnificent! And who comes to the Bay Area and doesn't have sourdough? We had both the bread and the ice cream. Visited here with some friends, for my friend's birthday. The service was very fast and they were attentive, but they were a bit nagging, as it seemed like the staff was always around. The resturant was very pretty but the booth seats were dirty. A friend of mine spilled a bit of wine, and they seemed pertur. This was the only bad meal I had in Napa. I still gave them 2 star because of the ambiance and service. The service was excellent. The staff kept refilling our water and making sure our table was clean. The kitchen, on the other hand, took 45 minutes to bring out our food. I can see the open kitchen and they were moving really slow for a busy restaurant. Bison tartar was good, but the brioche that it came with was so dry and cardboard tasting. I love bread, but I couldn't even swallow this down. What a disappointment! How can you mess up on brioche?! Our main course, snapper and chicken, did not look like it came from a fancy restaurant or a plate that cost $38 each. The chicken was dry and overcooked. The sauce was good, though. The snapper was a little overcooked, but the sauce was good. We ate two bites and took everything to go. So it seems only the chef handling the sauce did everything right. Beautiful resort and restaurant. Loved the ambience and the staff there are so nice and welcoming. I suggest getting a table outdoors. It's beautiful, especially close to sunset. I read all the reviews I could find before my reservation. Some mentioned that the food was so much better before. Others loved everything about the restaurant. I paid particular attention to a reviewer who recommended trying Michelin restaurants in the area instead when factoring in pricing. She gave Bear a 7/10. As a huge foodie, I would probably have to agree with her (7/7.5 out of 10). Service and ambience is definitely 10/10. read more

Was looking for a brunch place on the way to downtown Napa and this place popped up. It's located at a big resort so it was a little hard to find, but there are maps posted to get you where you need to go :) turns out it wasn't too far from where we parked(they have so many tesla chargers which we were pleasantly happy about). The server was very friendly upon arrival and showed us to the host stand so they could seat us. It seemed like they usually have people do reservations because they kept asking us if we had one haha We opted to sit outside because it was kinda smokey smelling inside and we preferred the patio seating anyway. The food was delicious and our server was very attentive. I got the salmon grain salad, my sisters got the crab Benedict and chilequiles. We shared a monkey bread for appetizer(so good and apparently their most popular item). The prices were pretty expensive, but understandable resort pricing. The views and ambience of this location is what sells you. I've been there twice now, the food was good, and the customer service was on point. I've only been for breakfast, but everything that I had was delicious. I love the fact that it's an indoor outdoor type restaurant nestled within a vineyard. Absolutely gorgeous! They totally think of everything, they even had these little fans for the table so that the flies or flying pest did not disturb you while you were eating your meal. I love a place that thinks of the little things to make your experience even better. I would say if you have the time and want a great experience check them out on the weekend. They have done a great job with accommodating our guests' dietary restrictions as well (whether it be gluten free, vegetarian, or other requirements) while still maintaining their high culinary standards. We've tried nearly the entire menu, and our guests agree that every dish we've tried has been simply amazing. Some standouts include: Kampachi, Short Rib, New Potato, and Sourdough Ice Cream. The wine list was creative and impressive- Michael has done an outstanding job curating the list. The food quality and flavor was thoughtful, creative, and surprising. Highly recommend the crispy rice (fried cubes of rice in a great sauce) and kampachi with macadamia nuts. For entrees, the four tiger prawns were INCREDIBLE in a chili butter sauce. The scallops were in a yuzu sauce and full of umami. The quail was naturally small, but boy, with the liver mousse and johnny cakes, it was savory and delectable. I cannot wait to come back.
