Came in for a sandwich this time, skipping the donuts. The meat was generous and I loved that they serve it on a croissant. Service and atmosphere are nothing special, but that's exactly what you'd expect from a spot like this. Quick, filling lunch for around $10. Worth a stop!

I was there on 1/14/2026 & 1/16/2026. The twist donut is soft. The custard filled w/ glazed donut is good. The french crullers are soft. The white frosted cake donut w/ sprinkle is good. The cinnamon crumbs donut is ok.

I travel a lot and I'm always on the lookout for good donut/coffee spots. I stumbled upon this place as I was working in the area. The interior is nice and looks clean. I ordered a ham & cheese croissant and a small ice mocha. I feel the ham & cheese croissant was a bit flat and small, not meaty at all. The ice mocha was served with hot coffee making the bottom half of the drink warm. It was also way too sweet in my opinion. These employees were kind but these are NOT the best donuts for me.

Donuts are very fresh and light. I tried the x-large chocolate twist and the apple fritter. Very good and filling. I had a large coffee which was okay. I came in around 1130 and the donuts were still fresh and not overcooked.

Updated review after 2 years. I actually don't come to Best Donuts for their donuts. They are decent, but quality-wise and variety-wise, Dainty Donuts are more to my liking. However, Best Donuts has some of the best options for breakfast sandwiches before 6am. These protein-rich sandwiches are much healthier than donuts, and I find myself coming back again before heading off to work. Favorites: Ham and Egg Chorizo and Egg Bacon and Ham Definitely better than McDonalds and Burger King. I especially like the soft, toasty bread. You can have your cake too - they have a $9 special combo for donut, breakfast sammie, and small coffee.

Never would have found this place without Yelp. It is located in a semi-hidden plaza, not much else around in the area. They have a large variety of donuts. A half dozen is $5. OMG I've been on a crazy diet for 7 months and decided to have a small cheat, I looked up the closest doughnut shop to me and this look place showed up. LIFE CHANGING!! This place has the most delicious donuts!!! I bought over a donuts and my coworkers looooved them! They have all kinds of flavors and they literally melt in your mouth! On top of that, the owner and his wife are super nice...went out of their way to talk with me for several minutes just because. Nice people, inexpensive donuts, lots of parking, and cash only. The place has tons of tables and chairs for you to sit. Looks a bit run down, but still clean and presentable. A plus would be that they have a restroom too!! There are many varieties of donuts here, and a good amount of drinks too. read more

This place is awesome. Get here early for the best, freshest donuts in the area. Also, I love that it's a small family business and they seem to have a very close and personal relationship with many of their customers. Old timers tend to stop by and shoot the breeze or read the paper over a fresh donut, and I see this as the mark of a good, relaxed place to spend your morning. A clean and comfortable, if slightly old fashioned, dining area offers a quiet place for you to eat away from the grind of San Ramon. Their donut offerings are relatively standard, though they do have some custard and jelly filled donut holes that I've never seen before. Also, if you're in the mood for something slightly healthier or more fulfilling, they also have sandwiches for 3.95, which is ridiculously cheap. It's just a standard sandwich on sliced bread, but it's got all the fixin's and they don't skimp on the meat. They also have egg rolls, burritos, hot dogs, and a few other things that I haven't tried yet. As mentioned before, they also have two fridges full of drink choices. I'd like it if there was a few other sandwich offerings (there's only a few choices - salami, tuna, egg salad, and a few others). But other than that (and the fact that it's cash only) I love this place. read more

Having worked near Best Donuts for 8 years, I would frequent this place for coffee in the morning and sure, donuts, plus sandwiches for lunch. Their chili-cheese dogs are inexpensive, and hit the spot when you need 'em. The family who owns this place are cordial, hard-working and friendly. The decor is very dated, but that is what makes it so special. I moved near there a few years ago. I had not been there for at least seven years, and it looks just like it did back in the day. Ya know, sometimes it is nice to see a place that has not changed. It is great to go back on occasion. Plain, simple, friendly, 'ts why I like it! read more

Not really sure why this place has 4.5 stars. It's a regular donut place with a limited selection. I went by at 8am on a Sunday on my way to work because I heard they had maple bacon donuts. When I got there it was completely empty. That didn't seem like a very good sign, considering early morning is prime time for buying donuts. I asked for a maple bacon donut. The lady helping me said she would make some for me, since they didn't have any already made. She grabbed a maple donut from the display, went to the back, and put chopped pieces of bacon on it for me. It totaled out to about 2.50 for the donut. Not too bad considering it had bacon. I'd rate the donut a 3/5 if I had to. Overall, the place is so-so. Very limited amount of donuts. Ok taste. I wouldn't come back though. I'd probably just drive home to the East Bay and go to my regular donut place out there. Oh yeah and they don't have the fruity pebble donuts anymore. That was disappointing. read more

I should first mention here that I know the owner personally. However I want to write this review with objectivity. I happen to taste some donuts from a variety of selections they have. I have tried glazed blueberry cake, maple whites, cake donuts to name a few. The textures, flavors are really good, have a wide variety and looks like they maintain same amazing quality across varieties. I like to recommend this place for the donut lovers. read more

I was ordering for several people, so I thought it would be more efficient to place my order online, even though it does state that their prices are 14% higher when ordering online (via Doordash). However, when I came to pick up my order, I was shocked that the online prices are WAY more than 14% higher. For example, their most popular item, the Eggwich with cheese and meat, is $8.45 online and only $6.39 in store. That's 32%. Ouch! PRO TIP: order in store if you're gonna go in to pick up anyway. So, how was the food? Actually quite good. My omelette was made with bacon, sausage, ham, and a medley of chopped vegetables and it tasted pretty good. The accompanied Cajun seasoned country potatoes were pretty pedestrian. George gave me one of his tacos and it was delicious. The deep fried catfish used was crunchy on the outside and moist and flavorful on the inside. Service we received was very good. The staff member were attentive and efficient. The restaurant biz is challenging these days so hopefully the new Clementine's will be able to find its footing. George got the Double Burger combo with garlic feta fries while I opted for the Cali Burger Combo with curly fries. The staffer who helped us was friendly and helpful. I noticed he was wearing a 'Back to the Future' hat and we both agreed that a rumored potential reboot of the franchise would be a terrible idea. Our food came out pretty quickly. The Cali Burger was very good. The burger was very juicy, and I loved that sourdough bread was used. The curly fries were good as well. I'm glad that Fat Maddie's is still around. Good burger joints are getting harder to find. I will definitely return. 4 solid stars.

I've been going here since I was a little kid, so it holds a fond spot in my heart. The donut recipe changed awhile back, for the better. The donuts have a good consistency and taste. They even make the donuts fresh EVERY morning, as opposed to other shops that will keep donuts for 2-3 days. This place is busiest for their sandwiches, particularly at lunch. The low price nets a lot of regulars and the surrounding locals. The sandwiches are simple, but they've mastered them and they hit the spot. They looked soooooo good I dragged myself out of bed and dragged myself to work to pour myself a cup of hot tea, then changed my mind. i made a pot of coffee and called my secretary and asked her to hurry into the office and pickup enough donuts for the entire staff for our staff meeting.
