Here's a revised 3/5 version that blends both reviews and tones it a bit more balanced: Updated Review - 3/5 Bistro 1968 offers a modern take on classic dim sum, but after a couple visits, the experience feels a bit mixed. I recently came back to try their updated $4.88 per dish pricing, and previously visited for their AYCE option ($25.88). Across both visits, most of the dim sum items have stayed consistent in quality, which is a plus. Favorites still include the House Special Crispy Shrimp Roll and the Baked Snow Cap BBQ Pork Bun--both are standout dishes and worth ordering. That said, a few things have slipped. The removal of chili oil was disappointing, and some items (like the XO sauce) still lack depth in flavor. While the food is solid overall, it doesn't quite stand out compared to other dim sum spots at a similar price point. Service has been good each time, especially considering how busy it gets on weekends. The space itself is clean and leans toward a modern, upscale Chinese restaurant vibe, which makes it a comfortable spot for brunch. On the downside, food can take a while to come out, and parking remains a headache--the garage is small and street parking is limited, especially during peak hours. Here's my verdict based on my meal today. First time and unbiased review. I brought my Chinese parent along as well so they could give some feedback. 5 star items *Popcorn chicken. Best eaten right away while it's hot. It's well seasoned and there's a good amount of chicken compared to the flour coating. *The included jasmine tea. 3 star items *Sesame bun. Flavor is on point, just be prepared for some oiliness. *Shrimp noodles. The wrapper was a bit thick, but the shrimp itself was crisp and fresh. *Pork porridge. It seems like they break down the raw rice grains before boiling to cook it faster, which works, but the flavor and texture suffer a bit. 2 stars and below *Egg tart. The crust was way too thick. *Pork bun. Very little filling. *Chili wontons. The wrapper wasn't the right type. *Pork with rice rolls. The rice rolls are too thick, and the rib taste dropped off on the second bite. The prices here are very reasonable, which probably keeps the overall experience around a solid three stars and explains why people continue to come back. Plenty of parking. It's a workable place to catch up with friends or coworkers, or to grab a budget friendly meal with family.
Sister in law treated us out to dim sum. We ordered way too much! We passed the order form to everyone not realizing how many dishes we ended up ordering. Luckily, we had a table with three walls. For people with kids, it works for when they act up. We're away from most the crowd. We got there around 9:45 and there were only two tables full. It was a holiday weekend but it filled up quickly. We ordered cha shau bao, fried rice, chicken feet, black bean pork, calamari, etc. Too many to mention. So stuffed! The fried rice was a great deal for the size and price. Everything tasted good. The place has an exposed roof which was an interesting design choice. The location itself is huge with covered parking. There's a back and front parking. The service was great with waters, tea being refilled. Wish I asked for more napkins or cleared plates. We literally ran out of room at our table! Worth checking out.
Before our day in LA we stopped by to try the Dimsum here. Unfortunately they stopped serving the AYCE option but we still wanted to try it out. Of course it did not disappoint! Everything we ordered was amazing. Service was great. Theplace smelled new. When more people came you could tell they were longtime customers.
Dim sum here is epic! Service is fast. I also like the inside decor somewhat antique classic but did not go overboard. Dim sum here is $4.88 each. A variety of classic dim sum choices. You can also pick a green veggie which is typically a special item in other restaurants. Here is smaller potion for the veggie but also $4.88 so perfect for me. As for the tea, there is no charge. They don't have chamomile tea so we just pick pu erh which is fragrant. Covered structure parking in the back. Then you follow the signs and the long winding road to the front of the building/restaurant. Trust the process and the signs will lead you there. We did get a bit confused when walking back to the car .
Came here on a Saturday around 10 am. We were actually planning on going to Happy AYCE for dim sum but they unfortunately were closed for construction (posted on their front door but not on their social media or sites). Thankfully, I knew of this place because I had driven by in front and saw their AYCE dim sum sign. They have a free spacious parking garage in the back which was very convenient. The inside is larger than I expected, with a lot of tables and high ceilings. The tables were nearly all large and circular for big parties and there were a decent amount of people inside. The service was impeccable. Everyone was quick to see if we were ready to order more and cleared dishes as soon as they were empty. You order the dim sum on a sheet of paper which made it very easy. We opted for tea with our meal, which ended up being $2/person. The AYCE dim sum on Saturday morning was around $26/person. They're getting rid of AYCE dim sum by Dec 2025 but claim each dish will be less than $5 which is still pretty good. Most of the food was excellent and so worth it. We got many orders of the har-gow which were very large. They could've had thinner skin but were still very yummy. I enjoyed the spareribs, pineapple bun, crispy shrimp roll, turnip cake, egg yolk bao, and garlic cucumber. I thought the siu-mai, shrimp rice noodle, egg tart, brown sugar sponge cake, and chicken wings were okay. The one item that stood out as my favorite was the crispy shrimp roll. Super crispy crunchy on the outside and served with what I think was kewpie mayo. This was a good backup for Happy, but I definitely prefer Happy's AYCE dim sum. I prefer this atmosphere and service over Happy though. I know that this restaurant has other dishes so I would consider coming back to try them!
Food 4/5 - Ordered typical dim sum, everything tasted good and was nice and hot (except egg tarts). Siu-mai was delicious, good size packed with lots of pork (soft with no chewiness). Shrimp in har-gow is good size and cooked perfect (nice bounce texture). Shrimp/leek dumplings have soft skin with good filling portion. Turnip cake has nice char on the outside and soft inside. Rice noodles are very soft. Sponge cake is soft and moist. Egg tarts were definitely baked earlier in the morning as it wasn't warm, crust could be more flaky but it's fine. Squid w/ black bean sauce, the squid wasn't stir-fried long enough to absorb any flavor. Poached chicken was fine. Price $$ - Price is good for the portions that were served. Service 5/5 - Service is good, servers pass by consistently to pick up empty dishes and refill the tea pot without flagging someone down. Ambiance 4/5 - Interior is good with Chinese themed decor. Overall - Had a pleasant experience and would visit again.
My MIL wanted to come here with my mom for dim sum which I'm always down for some good dim sum. However, this place was not that. We ordered all the standard dim sum - har gow, siu mai, chicken feet, spare ribs, shrimp rice noodles, turnip cake, cha siu baked baos, century egg congee, bead curd wrapped dumpling, chicken sticky rice, popcorn chicken and egg tart. The siu mai was surprisingly sweet and not in a good way. The chicken feet was cold. The spare ribs were ok. The shrimp rice noodles which are my family's fav and one of the only things my husband eats, so much so that we always get shamed for it cause we order like 6 of them - my husband doesn't share and neither do my kids. The kitchen always checks with us to see if it's a mistake cause we order so much lol but in any case the rice noodles were soft and the shrimp was cooked well but overall the flavor just wasn't there. The turnip cake I thought was good but the kids did not. It wasn't fried enough. Century egg congee came in a little pot with literally one spoon and we had to flag someone down for extra bowls and spoons. It was ok. Lacking in flavor again. Chicken sticky rice had salted egg in it and an abalone sauce. The sauce made the whole thing too soft and mushy and the egg gave it a grainy taste which I didn't mind cause I love salted egg but again the kids did not. Popcorn chicken was pretty solid. Nothing special but solid. Could have done with some basil though. IYKYK The cha siu baked buns though. I saved this review for last cause if you ever have to go here. Order this. It will not disappoint. I would def come back and order this, maybe to go cause eating there was eh. Service is so slow, even for a busy Chinese place. Most people just walk past you or pretend they don't hear you. The avoid eye contact at all costs. The only one who was super attentive seemed like the manager or at least someone in charge cause she was the hostess, she managed all the checks but she was dressed so casually with a crossbody bag on her the whole time that you would have thought so was just some random auntie helping out. The place inside looks totally unfinished. Paint chipping on walls, holes and dents in the floor in random places where a cabinet or something might have been there before. It looks like they gutted the place, didn't bother to renovate and just started setting up tables and stuff for a restaurant. The ceiling is unfinished but not even in a trendy kinda way. Overall, it just wasn't appealing. The parking, now the parking is a mess. It's a covered lot which you can only really turn into if you're going north on San Gabriel. If you're lucky and find parking on the ground level, you're good but by no means folllw the additional parking sign cause then you'll go down a super narrow and steep curve down to the second level which still has limited space. Seems that level is for mostly residents. There's so many good places to eat in the sgv, I'd pass on this. Except for those cha siu baked buns. Get someone to drop you off to pick some of those up to go.
4 stars for value!!! Bistro 1968 is an all you can eat dim sum restaurant on San Gabriel. And yes, it's literally under $20 per person for all you can eat dim sum. Is it the best? No. But it's definitely not the worst! Dim Sum is served all day and the restaurant itself is clean and modern. You get a paper and check off what you want, BUT BE WARNED: it's $3.99 extra for each unfinished plate! A lot of the bad reviews are centered around being charged for wasted food and let's be honest- most people are so excited about it being so cheap they don't read everything on the other side of the paper dim sum menu. Not other than that, the oolong tea was good and service was also better than expected!
This restaurant no longer has all you can eat dim sum. However the price for each dim sum dish is very inexpensive. It is only $4.88 per dish; the lowest I've seen for sometime. I think the dim sum are good. I would give it 4 stars for the following items I had: Shrimp and pork siu mai Bean curd skin rolls Leek and shrimp dumplings Sticky rice wrap Their entrees are also priced inexpensively at $14.88 per dish. However their entrees do not taste so good. I would give it 1 star for the following entrees I had: Braised E-Fu noodles (very dry. Not at all like it should be) Chicken with soy sauce (also very dry and it lacks flavor). I would go back for their dim sum but stay away from their entrees.
Three families joined for a weekday lunch at Bistro 1968 for dim sum. There are 5 kids and 5 adults, the restaurant is actually big with its own private parking lot. They have rooms in the back with bigger tables. There are flat screens around the restaurant, decor is modern Chinese restaurant and service is actually good on weekday. The tea they served tastes good too. So we ordered beef fried udon, beef chow fun, char siu bao (bbq buns) baked and steamed, chicken bun, siu mai, shrimp dumpling, lava bun (watery), egg tart and many others. Most dim sun dishes are made pretty good, consistent, and authentic. Price is also good. Overall, it wasn't loud - probably because it is weekday lunch. Highly recommended for the value and taste.
I can't believe this is my first time finding out about this place. Are you kidding me? $19.99 for all you can eat dim sum? You can't beat that prize. I came on Thanksgiving, so the price was $26 per person. There's plenty of parking. And it's free. It's a easy system that they have set up. You get your table, and then you mark the items that you want to eat, and then they bring it to you. Unfortunately, this is the last week of all you can eat. And then it's gonna go down to $4.88 per item. I would say everything is just very mediocre. Nothing really took my breath away. But it's definitely worth it if you're just having a dim sum craving and you just wanna get rid of it. But I would say the spicy chili oil dumplings were really good, and the bao buns. The service was very good. I didn't feel rushed or anything. The bathrooms were clean, and the ambience were very spacious.
Quite sad this place is ending its AYCE dim sum in just a few days on 11/30/25. For $20 per person on a weekday lunch is unbeatable with so many dim sum items to choose from (including stir fry noodle, porridge, and even desserts!). The place is spacious and can get packed sometimes. Food service is quick and portion sizes for non steamed dim sum items is a good size so I would suggest start with just 4-5 items if just 2 ppl going. Starting 12/1 they'll be transitioning to 48 dim sum items ALL $4.88 and 48 lunch specials items all $14.88 each. Mix and matching dim sum with family style lunch is ok as well!

5/3/2025. I don't get the hype -- very disappointed. I drove an hour and a half to came here because of all the online hype, but honestly, it feels like those glowing reviews were either paid for or written by people who have extremely low standards. The food was okay at best -- I'd give it a 5 out of 10. Nothing special, nothing memorable. What really ruined the experience for me was the customer service. If I could give less than zero stars for that, I would. The owner actually accused me of ordering too much and not finishing my food -- seriously? I was told I needed to clean my plate or I'd get charged extra. I was shocked. How am I supposed to know if I'll like a dish before I try it? I ate what I could, and when I didn't enjoy it, I moved on. That's how dining works. Instead of being understanding, the owner made me feel uncomfortable and judged. I've never had a dining experience where I felt so disrespected. I came here expecting something special and left feeling upset and insulted in front of my kids. Definitely won't be returning, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who values decent service or basic respect. read more

Although their dim sum wasn't exceptional, the $25.88 AYCE price tag and quality were reasonable. There were two menus placed on the table, one for the standard menu and a smaller menu for the AYCE option. We found the AYCE menu to have a sufficient number of options, including various dim sum, noodle, meat, and vegetable dishes. We were preemptively given jasmine tea for the table and other orders of tea were $2 per person. The dishes came out at different times and strangely at the different temperatures too. The table got a tray of chili oil and horseradish sauce. The latter was extremely potent and spicy. *Poached Tender Chinese Greens: came out steaming hot. Simple salty taste which served as a palate cleanser. *Chicken Wings With Spicy Salt: only the salt was noticeable, no heat detected. The meat was a bit skimpy. They weren't too oily and about 6 wings came in each bowl. *Chicken Feet: the texture was enjoyable but the sauce was bland. The sauce needed more earthy and savory elements. *Barbecued Iberian Pork With Honey: definitely on the sweeter side but still tasty. The pork was fatty and rendered well. *Wonton With Chili Oil: absolute pass. They were lukewarm and the chili oil had no flavor. These were greasy and dense. *Wagyu Beef Rice Noodle: the beef was flavorless. The rice noodle was alright and the accompanying sauce needed more soy sauce and oyster sauce. *Shrimp Rice Noodle: similar issue with its beef counterpart but the shrimp was tender. *Pan Fried Turnip Cake: very interesting execution compared to the ones I've tried before. However these were greasy and bland. It was difficult to consume these blocks. *Har Gow: lots of shrimp in each dumpling. The skin was a tad thick but it was decent. *Pork Siu Mai: the pork was tasteless and monotonous. Not my favorite rendition. The service was very efficient and our finished plates were cleared immediately. Water was given upon request. The food wasn't memorable but it wasn't horrendous either. Sometimes I leave dim sum feeling hungry despite dropping lots of money so this AYCE option satiated my cravings. Shrimp dishes seemed to be executed better across the board besides the Iberian Pork. Say what? An AYCE dim sum spot! We came here at around 1:30pm and got seated immediately. It's pretty small inside compared to other dim sum restaurants. They have parking entrance right next door but the parking structure sucks. They allow 4 plates per person at a time and you can only stay a maximum of 90mins. Also, theres no dim sum carts. I love how fresh the food was. I had to get 2 plates of their egg custard bc it was that good! The service was quick and attentive. The food came a bit slow for my liking but for the price we paid, I wanted to come back the following week around 11/12pm and when we got there, it was packed af. The wait was approx 1.5hrs. We left. Definitely would like to come back again though. read more

The food was not bad and the service is ok.. I didn't like the fact that the plates, bowls and utensils were dirty! Sticky! The ayce price is $25.88 and kids from 5 to 12 yrs old pay half price. For a big party they charge you 18% tips and they calculate it after the taxes which is wrong! Ambience is big and kids friendly. You can host a big party since they have private rooms but I don't think I will come back anymore because it was dirty and my brother got food poisoning after. read more
Interesting place in San Gabriel. I understand that I do not seem to speak Chinese when I'm clearly Hispanic but it don't mean that people should treat you differently as much for being a restaurant. My money is the same as the rest and if I come in to enjoy a meal then that should be it. The waiters never offered us anything only was asked what kind of different teas we had. My gf (Chinese ) speak their language so it can't be a language barrier. Food took 23 mins to arrive to our table which seems for a bit of time but understandable. Food was hot when it arrived to the table. Food that is usually offered to be cut was not and they seem to be disorganized when serving food. They place it at the opposite side of the table where you cannot reach. Ambiance is very loud to a point where I can't hear my AirPods. We decided to not leave a tip due to the service that was given and today ( 1 day later ) I received a notice from my bank that they charged more for that transaction due to tip.... I even made it clear on the receipt why we didn't leave a tip but they still decided to add a gratuity. So a 58$payment was made into a 65$bill .... It's not much about the money than the dishonesty that they have to charge more ... Really disappointed Never coming back here... read more

Came here on a Saturday morning and yeah it was quite busy. We didn't know they didn't serve the ayce anymore. Everything is basically 5 bucks. We got quite a lot of food but the service was so bad. No one came to check on us or anything and we kept having to raise our hand or track them down to get water, napkin etc. Although it's been a place I've been wanting to try, it's a first and last. read more

Food is average like all other dim sum places. Nothing special. They charge $2/person for unlimited tea on top of the all you can eat $19.95/person. The dim sum selection is pretty wide. You can order four items per person. So if you have two people, you can order 8 items at a time. They food came out slow even on a weekday lunch. It took them forever to get us pumpkin sesame balls. The bill for the four of us came out to $120 plus tips and tax. I guess it's not too bad when compared to regular dim sum. Will come again to fulfill our dim sum cravings. read more
We have to wait for our car service and found this place nearby. Coincidentally, me & my husband didn't have breakfast and decided to give this place a try. We ordered menu that we normally ordered at other dim sum places that we like to visit. And I can tell this place is a legit authentic dim sum place. The only thing I slightly dislike is the egg custard which I found not enjoying it, the custard is too sweet and the pie is not that crispy. They also offer a la carte menu in addition to dim sum menu, for your kind info. There is big screen inside the restaurant which I find it unique compared to other places. Parking is available behind the restaurant which pretty much not noticeable. read more

Finally on the third attempt of trying to eat here.....my favorite senior citizens and I were able to make it inside this morning right when they opened up at 9am! Limited parking and super long wait times have been the major issue of getting the chance to finally try this spot out. The price has gone up since they first offered the AYCE option. It is now $25.88 per person with free tea (3 types) and condiments (Chinese chili oil and mustard) included. There is a good variety of dim sum options to choose from. It even includes some popular Cantonese rice and noodle dishes. The food came out quick and hot after you mark off your selections on the menu/order sheet. We ended up ordering a total of 19 dishes and had 4 rounds of tea refills. All the dim sum were tasty, good portion sized and made fresh daily. I would definitely come back to try out the rest of the menu and have a few of my favorites again! read more
Came here on a Friday afternoon (2 pm), and there was no wait! Ordered their har gow siu mai, steamed bbq pork bun, egg yolk buns, tripe, pan fried radish, and Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce. Got chrysanthemum tea and it was $2 per person. Overall, the dishes we got were all well done. The big winner for me was the pan fried turnip cake, as it was pan fried to perfection and had the right amount of salt to it. Tripe had a nice little kick to it and the seasoning was solid. Egg yolk buns were good, but I like it just a little thicker in the egg yolk texture and not as runny. Only downsides of the dim sum? It costs $6 to get the XO sauce dish and no complimentary XO sauce. So I did not get that. I also initially did not get the Chinese broccoli order despite it being marked down to them and I didn't know until one of the waiters informed me that it wasn't inputted. At least they corrected that error. Overall, it was a good dim sum experience. It is pretty much similar to Lunasia/Chef Tony. Sneak in some XO sauce if you need it though, paying $6 for it is a rip off in my opinion. read more

Overall solid food. This is our go to dim sum place with the price it definitely worth it. and the quality isn't bad either for the price. We got total of 16 items which came up to a little bit close to $50 including tax + tip which you can't get anywhere else nowadays if you order a la cart it would be totally close to $100. 00. It is decently good especially for the price. Just don't waste food or they were charged $6.99 per plate. read more

We came on a Saturday for their afternoon all you can eat dim sum at 6pm. We were seated right away and the place was relatively empty. The food was brought out fast and made to order. The quality and taste were great especially for the price. I would definitely come here again if I'm in the area again. read more
Honestly, this place was mid. I heard about it when they first opened and finally had the chance to try this spot and was excited. I am not one to leave negative reviews and am trying not to but I don't feel like the quality matched price at all. We opted not to to do AYCE. Presentation wise, food looks good and probably the things we enjoyed most were the egg tarts, turnip cake, and Chinese broccoli. I think there are better places for dim sum, and probably worse places for dim sum as well. read more

Never going here again. We sat down and a majority of our plates were dirty and the cups had lipstick stains. I asked our server to switch it out and he came back with dirty ones again. Then what made matters worse was that they had ants in there bread. Not sure how long its been sitting in their kitchen for but that is not ok. I think this restaurant needs to be shut down and a kitchen quality check needs to be done ASAP. read more

They have the best Dim Sum dishes in all of SGV! I tried so many different kinds of food on their menu and everything was just perfect! Servers were always attentive and very good with taking away our empty plates right away! It looks new inside and it's big and modern! read more

This all you can eat dim sum place is amazing, with good quality, good portion size, and a reasonable price $25.88 per person. My wife and I ordered 11 dishes, liked Steamed chicken feet, Beef tripe, house special crispy shrimp, sliced taro cake, and crab meat egg roll. Others were okay or so so, including Egg Tofu w/ Abalone sauce, Bean curd skin roll in soup, Minced pork dumpling, Seaweed & Shrimp paste cake, pork Siu-Mai. It's better to go with a group of people so you can try as many dishes as possible. read more

Advice: don't order everything at once- you don't want everything coming to your table at the same time- items will get cold. It's been a well known for a while now that Bistro 1968 has been San Gabriel's hottest place to grab some dim sum as of late. Why? Well the fact that this is the first place in the Greater LA area to offer dim sum as an all you can eat option is definitely the buzz. Seeing many other people having great experiences here, I decided to give it a try for myself and see what the commotion is all about. I arrived at the restaurant on a Sunday morning with a +1 around 11:00AM expecting a long wait and lines out the door. But to my surprise, there was no wait time and I was seated immediately. That's not to say that there were no people in the restaurant. In fact, the parking garage was pretty full with only a few open spaces remaining. Sitting down, a server proceeded to ask whether we were interested in the all you can eat option and what kind of tea we would like to drink. And looking at the menu, the only tea options were a roast tea, green tea, or dark tea. Usually, tea and other condiments at Bistro 1968 cost an extra $2 per person. But since they were running a special, the tea was complimentary. I chose the Green Tea and have to say that it was balanced, neither too strong nor too mild. **Before getting to the food, Bistro 1968 has a few rules as part of the AYCE special. For first, you must consume all of the food in the restaurant. To this, there is no takeout allowed. Should you waste food, there will be a $3.99 charge for each additional item. For last, there is an 18% gratuity charge for parties of 5 or more.** As of writing this review, the all you can eat experience is $25.88 per person. And looking at this from a price-to-portion ratio, Bistro 1968's AYCE dim sum is VERY good. Regardless of the fact this restaurant is in the San Gabriel Valley where Cantonese food is usually cheaper, I have never seen a deal for dim sum this good anywhere. A single item at most dim sum restaurants hovers around the $6-7 price tag. And when comparing this price to the AYCE price point at Bistro 1968, you would only be able to eat 3-4 dim sum items per person at a regular restaurant. For my experience here, I was able to share 17 items with one other person all for the price of about $60 dollars after tax and tip. From a quantity to price perspective, jump on this deal as soon as you can before the price goes up. As for the taste of the food, most items on the menu are faithful to authentic roots and were very delicious. I personally enjoyed the Har Gow, Chicken Feet, Shrimp Rice Rolls, Pork Spareribs, Wagyu Beef Rice Rolls, and Egg Tarts the best. The shrimp items all had large prawn-sized pieces of shrimp inside and were a tad sweet which really made them melt in the mouth. For the chicken, pork, and beef, all of these were succulent and very filling. The egg tarts caught me by surprise as each pastry was flaky and the custard had a perfect balance of creaminess inside. Moving on, I found the Siu Mai, Beef Balls, Pork & Thousand Year Old Egg Congee, Salt & Pepper Pork Chop, and Beef Tripe to just be okay. The Siu Mai had a pretty decent taste and a light coating on the outside. But because there was a minimal amount of shrimp and not as much flavor, it tasted similar to a generic meatball. Speaking of which, the beef balls tasted similar and had a somewhat minor sour flavor due to the cabbage that lined the bottom of the plate. Usually, bean curd is used here so this was a surprise. Moving on to the congee, the rice and soupy parts were delicious and had no issues. However, the egg and pork both did not contribute much to the flavor profile of the dish. The pork chop had a nice balanced onion and garlic flavor that benefited the dish. But the pieces themselves were too fatty and did not have much meat. For last the only issue with the tripe was that it was a tad too soft. There wasn't enough of a chew to it, which made it taste somewhat gelatinous. The only dish that did not hit the mark was the bean curd rolls as these were served in soup and did not have flavor nor cohesion the dish usually has. Even though some dishes weren't as great as other places in the area, Bistro 1968 nonetheless deserves a solid 5/5 rating. The dishes that were mediocre weren't all that bad. And the dishes that were good were great! The staff continued to stop by, refill tea, and take more orders which really made the experience that much nicer. There were a few hiccups with ordering some items and there were moments where some dishes took over an hour to arrive. But with the volume of food already on the table, this was never a big issue. Of anything, the price was always the biggest upside of this restaurant. There is simply no other place that offers an experience that Bistro 1968 does. If in doubt, give it a try for yourself! There is a reason that the restaurant is a popular spot amongst the younger and elder folks in the local community. What a great experience! read more

Went on a Tuesday afternoon for a table of two. Service was great and attentive. Dishes came out fresh & hot, even the desserts. Items ordered: 1. Snow cap bbq pork bun - this was the best thing we ate. 2. Cucumbers - cold, refreshing and a good flavor of black vinegar and garlic. We ordered two of these. 3. Chicken feet - meaty and good flavor, on the sweeter versus savory side though 4. Black bean spare ribs - not seasoned enough and pretty bland, would skip this 5. Shrimp rolls - honestly the worst one I ever tried. Absolutely no flavor in the filling. Recommend skipping to have room for other dishes. 6. Wagyu beef rolls - just a tad better than the shrimp rolls but would also skip 7. Taro cakes - took a while to come out but was super fresh and hot. Not bad but definitely a large order for just two. 8. Ha Gow - average, wished the mustard sauce was better, a bit watery and tasted different than what I am use to 9. Siu mai- average to good 10. Lava buns- came out warm but could be hotter, not too sweet and salty. 11. Egg tarts - average to good 12. Chicken wings with salt seasoning - tasty and came out super hot. Overall, would come back maybe ideally with 3 people. Would skip most of the dim sum items and try the more lunch items. Dessert items here are executed pretty well. Some of the food were good some could be better. The sauce of the mushroom and wontons were a bit too salty. The wontons itself was already full of flavor. It could use a lighter soy sauce. The hargao and the egg custard was the highlight of our food experience. The service needs lot of work though. It was our first time and the staff was not accommodating. We had to take a guess if we were heard by our server as he was not reciprocating. I probably would not come back especially the price did go up by $6. read more

Really liked this place. Fast seating and lots of space. You still need to flag someone down, but once you do, they will help you right away. The food was overall good. We really enjoyed the sticky rice. The duck was a just warm, and we wish it came hot. Otherwise, the taste was good. We plan to come again and try out more dishes. There is alot of parking. I think it is okay for a date, as it is nicer and the food looks nice. read more

I attended the first day opening of this restaurant and have been back a couple of times. Overall the menu is quite interesting with some options you do not get in every dim sum menu. The plus is that they serve all day and menu items are made to order. There is a small parking lot in the back which most likely will be full, so be prepared for street parking. The wait can be long, but I believe you can reserve a table for parties of ten or more people. I really enjoyed the crispy lobster rolls with mayo dipping sauce, the egg yolk bun in a gorgeous black and gold presentation, crab egg rolls, scallop dumplings. The dim sum dish that blew my mind is the scallop and seafood egg wrapper dumpling topped with morel mushrooms. It is the absolute perfect dumpling, provided you enjoy seafood and mushrooms. What hours are dim sum? How late is it served?
Last time I went about a month ago (before they started the AYCE menu), they served dim sum All Day (10am-9pm). Bistro 1968 is order from menu sheet dim sum place. I'm not sure what time their last call is.
