This place has a good, roofed parking lot right next to it (I attached photos of the entrance of the parking lot). The service, considering how busy they get, is as good as it gets (it's not excellent, but I worked in the service industry before and I know handling this volume of customers isn't easy, so I still consider the service to be good, all things considered). The ambiance is nice and I appreciate how big the tables are, because usually the table will be filled of at least 4 or 5 different baskets or plates to serve yourself from. The food is really good, even considering that it is an all-you-can-eat place. It is not buffet-style, so what you do instead is fill out a sheet with your options, and the servers go and bring you what you selected. The price comes around 30 per person when including taxes (lunch on weekends), which is good, but the price is even cheaper during the week, so you do get your money's worth. Service was good and fast (but note you must ask for everything, this place isn't a place where they'll come to you and ask if you need more water or napkins, etc.) the place was clean. All you can eat Dim Sum and several side dishes for $26 rounded. Quality of the food was good for the all you can eat price. You pay additional $3.99 for excess leftover, which you can take home. The fillings were not at all skimped out, it's very meaty and portion was really good. I recommend the Chinese broccoli with Oyster sauce, House Shrimp Egg-roll and the Salt&Pepper Wings, those were very delicious. Ones I do not recommend is Wontons in Chili oil sauce, the one we got seems like it was just sitting on Soy sauce which was not appetizing at all. The CRAB MEAT EGGROLL, was not crab meat all, it was shrimp inside, not even imitation crab, you can't fool me. I know how real crab meat look like as well as imitation and none of those applied to this eggroll. One of the better dimsum spots in sgv! Service is *as expected* but the food makes up for it. The steamed dim sums were big, steaming hot (instead of a lot of places being somewhat like warm or worse unevenly heated...), and the fried dim sum here had a fantastic variety. Fried dimsum did not have any day-old oil after taste and the batter they use to fry is light and crispy; no uncooked or unevenly burnt batter here! While it's unique, I don't think dim sum is meant for the ayce experience. Each dish was very filling, either very doughy or oily. It was ok with 7 people since we were able to share a piece of each dish, I can't imagine how it would be with small groups. I guess all the not so popular item come out early and I guess the more popular item take extremely long time. We were there for almost 1 hour and we only get to eat about 10 dimsum. Our group ordered the shrimp har gow, pork siu mai, spareribs with black bean sauce, steamed chicken feet, supreme beef balls, sticky rice wrap, bean curd skin roll in soup, house special crispy shrimp, pan fried turnip cake, minced pork dumpling, snow caped bbq pork bun, wagyu beef rice noodle, beef chow fun with soy sauce, pan fried noodles with supreme soy sauce, bbq iberian pork with honey, steamed lettuce, chinese broccoli with oyster sauce, thousand year eggs and pork congee, and okinawa brown sugar cake. Some of the best pics here were the bbq iberian pork and the snow caped bbq pork bun. The usual siu mai and har gow were fairly decent quality and good portions too. The tables are quite spread out so there's a lot of space between guests but it also may mean there could be longer wait times. Staff are very good and are quick on their feet when taking orders and sending items to tables. The inside is decorated as a middle tier chinese restaurant with classic lettering and portraits of food. There is a parking structure that you can enter from San Gabriel Blvd; the entrance can be a little tight to enter at first. Came here for their lunch promotion ayce back in July. Parking here is rough.. their lot has a small entrance and has only like 2 small floors of parking. Really sketchy too cuz it winds down in a tight one way like entrance and the only way to exit is a gate that leads you to the back alley street. The wait outside was super insane like 2 hours but we had a large party so they sat us at one of the large tables in the side room. This table was hugeeeee I've never seen a banquet table that large lol. It could easily fit 15-20 people. You order by paper menu and I believe they allowed 3 rounds. The food takes a while to come out but they have a decent variety to choose from. Most things were a little light on flavor for my taste but everything came out piping hot. Honestly we were stuffed after 2 rounds and were still going on just will power to try more things. It came out to be almost $30 still after tax and tip so still pretty pricy. If I had to wait 2 hours also i would've been pretty unsatisfied. I'd probably prefer to go to a smaller place for dimsum/my regular place. read more

Avoid at all costs. No one should have to pay to get sick. "Inedible" doesn't even begin to describe what we were served. The first red flag should've been the near-empty dining room on Mother's Day, a day when even the worst places usually draw a crowd. The second was the clearly miserable staff who looked like they'd rather be anywhere else. We genuinely tried to give the food a fair shot, but every bite was a struggle. Several items were outright sour, with the unmistakable taste and smell of spoilage. I regret forcing myself to eat any of it, because I'm now dealing with what I'm pretty sure is food poisoning. AYCE Dim Sum? Yes, please! Dim Sum is the type of food that I can find myself eating a lot of and before you know it, I've racked up $40-$50 worth of dishes without even trying, so I've always wanted to find a place with AYCE. I was so excited when Happy Lamb started offering Dim Sum, but that was a disappointment. So when I saw on TikTok that Bistro 1968 was offering it, I told my bf that would we need to go the next day. We got there a little after opening at 10:15 and were seated right away. The waitress explained everything and then asked us what tea we wanted. I don't drink tea, but they still told us they would charge for it. That was annoying - I wish they would just change the price to be $2 additional rather than pretend that they are charging you for the tea, which is why they lose a star. They emphasized that we would be charged for extra food, and based on the reviews, I didn't want to chance it so I made sure to eat every bite. Fortunately, I really enjoyed all the dishes. Everything was really well seasoned and delicious. I've had some bland and bad dim sum, but this was lightyears better, even for the AYCE price. They also had some more interesting offerings than many other dim sum places, though I generally stuck to my usuals: spare ribs, rice noodle rolls, buns. My bf enjoyed his shrimp rolls and crab egg rolls as well. They even have noodle dishes like beef chow fun and chow mein, which were also very good. In fact, one of the best chow funs I've had in recent memory. The only disappointing dish was the XLB, which had a very ham-like flavor. The portions are actually quite large, so they do seem to try to fill you up. All-in-all, definitely a good deal and one I am ready to try again! read more

My first experience with AYCE dimsum, and to no surprise, I ended up with major food coma. The dim sum here came with bigger pieces, and a lot of the food here was very good! The service is on the slower side, but at the same time, there are a lot of people, so you do need to get there early. I went on a random Monday morning, so the weekend is probably going to be packed. All ordering is done with pen and paper, so you'll just need to jot down whatever you want. Some notable items: - The egg tart wasn't the usually flaky egg tart, but it is SUPER soft. It starts breaking down as you carry it to your mouth. Haven't had an egg tart quite like it, but I'm into it! - The shrimp shu mai was huge and juicy! I was surprised as the size of each shu mai, and it was packed full of tender pork and shrimp. The only item I didn't particularly like was the egg custard bun. The bun itself was soft, and the custard was hot and flowy, but there wasn't enough filling to make it as good as other places. In my party of two, we ate a total of 10 dishes and we were very full afterward. While the food looks gorgeous, shout out to the cooks and how they decorate and display the food. The taste was a little underwhelming. They don't know when our orders will come out and/or if they will even come or not. I'm a fan, it's pretty popular on a Wednesday morning! Small parking structure next to the restaurant, with lots of signs to help you navigate to the front door. I was here for the AYCE dimsum, which is available weekdays. as any AYCE place you don't really expect super high-quality items especially at such a lower price point. I was quite mistaken as I think the quality of all the food that we ordered was quite good. We had four people and ordered probably around 30 items (We were hungry!) the side veggies/dishes were actually quite large, and they had a great selection of vegetables. We ordered so many many things and i won't describe everything, but heres some info and stand outs: shumai: super juicy, large, and hot! hargow: big! tasty pork sparerib with black beans: good amount of meat congee: good portion with LOTS of preserved duck egg and pork!!!! usually you get like 4 little cubes of the egg but everybody at the table got a good amount each minced pork dumpling- its green, and fried and mochi. it was my absolute favorite. crispy shrimp roll: very crispy but it was shrimp i couldn't fins the lobster roll but on menu it was shrimp crab eggroll: looked like shrimp but it said crab. this was good, but a bit too salty. sweet egg yolk bao: creamy, piping hot and perfect balance of "not too sweet" All the veggies are good, love the cucumber salad and the greens, I'm not a fan of mushrooms but everyone else loved it. The OK: XLB: flavor is good, theres soup but the skin is thick, they have so many other things to get. it's not bad, just better options. Great dimsum not too heavy! Kinda like 168 market, the proprietors named this restaurant "Bistro 1968" because the numbers in Chinese sound like "road to prosperity." It's not push cart. You get a paper slip to order however many small dim sum plates you like, and there is a menu for larger family portions to share. There are several large private rooms or booths that can accommodate private parties look like 10-20 ish. Parking is available in the underground lot. Or park on the street 2 hrs. The dim sum is not greasy but somewhat smaller sized than perhaps more popular push cart places like NBC. Still delicious and we didn't feel like it was too much at once. We liked the traditional favorites like har gow and shu mai, as bell as bbq pork buns and turnip cake. We also got walnut shrimp when we saw the other table over order. We forgot to get the fried shrimp cake...this place has different English names for your favorite dishes and we couldn't read the Chinese without Google Translate! Bathrooms are nice. Having dined at their regular priced dim sum, I was so pleasantly surprised when I saw that Bistro 1968 is doing AYCE with an extensive menu as I rank Bistro 1968 food quality as one of the better Dim Sum Restaurants of SGV. With that said, how was it compared to their regular price menu? Food quality: Almost comparable to their usual operation but something happened to their shumai. Size of the dishes are a little smaller (which is actually kindve nice because you can eat other things). Service: Severely understaffed. The staff looked miserable and more often than not, we would have to wait over 5 minutes to flag anyone for service. Our empty plates also sat for quite some time. Wait: Arrived at 1:15 on a Friday for a party of 6 and it took about 20-30+ minutes. They dont really have smaller tables so whether your a party of 1 or 8, your waiting in the same queue. Reservation: their website and other reviews said they take reservation but I asked their staff and they said, reservation is only for party for 8 or more and tbh they are so busy that they aren't answering their phones. Comparable: compared to Happy AYCE Dim Sum and Shabu, this was not even a comparison. Bistro 1968 is like the 98th percentile of Dim Sums of SGV End date: 1968 is only doing AYCE at $19.68 (children are half price) until 7/31/2024 between Monday-Friday Tip: Come with a bigger party so that you can order more food each time as they limit you to how many is in your party x2; so if you only have 2 people, you can only order 4 dishes each time; but we had 6 people so we were able to order 12 dishes each time. What a great experience, I have to find a way to come back before the promotion ends. Service was efficient, but they definitely held you to the 1.5 hour time limit and wouldn't let us order more food after that time frame. Stand outs were the har gow, the pan fried turnip cake, the tripe, the crispy shrimp roll, and the egg tofu in abalone sauce. My kids also enjoyed the egg tarts, which were flaky and the filling was luscious. A few misses: The chicken wings were weird in that they cut the flat in half? Usually you get two bones on the flat, but here it's just one. So odd. The chicken feet were cooked nicely, but it was almost bland in its flavor. I came here for the $19.68 AYCE deal that ends July 31, 2024. One thing to note is that they charge an additional $2 surcharge per person for tea, regardless if you actually drink the tea. Overall I was pretty happy with the meal. Most of the dishes were decent, a couple were bad, but also a couple that were outstanding. Items we got include: Shrimp har-gow - very good Pork & shrimp siu-mai - ok, but underseasoned Bean curd skin roll in soup - fine, the creamy broth was unexpected but good. I didn't like that there was so much bamboo in the filling and less meat Crab meat egg roll - excellent, but tasted more like shrimp than crab Spareribs black bean sauce - excellent, very tender and flavor is as expected Steamed chicken feet - underseasoned, but texture was good Sesame balls - amazingly excellent, very fresh and crispy.
