I highly recommend this cafe! The food is really good, I ordered the crunchy French toast and an iced mocha. They are taking good COVID precautions, they don't have paper menus they have barcodes that you can scan and it takes you to the website to order and you just input your table number. To be clear, their "outdoor" seating is not truly outdoors: it's in a tunnel of sorts where both ends are open to the outside, but the rest of the space is covered, and given just how packed it gets during brunch hours, I'm not sure how well-ventilated the space actually is. Wait times are pretty miserable and easily get up to an hour plus on weekends, with there being an additional wait for your actual food as well: not horrifically long, but if you're hungry, probably longer than you'd like. That aside, the food is actually pretty solid, with their crispy French toast and scrambles both worth getting. The French toast is the best thing on the menu and one of the prettiest presentations of French toast that I have seen. The berries and powdered sugar just taste so good with the toast. The bacon was also cooked quite well and it' was crunchy but not burned. And of course the mimosa was quite good. It wasn't too strong so it was a nice wake up drink. Parking is quite crappy. We ended up parking at a lot that had valet parking so we didn't have to deal with it. The walk to the restaurant can be scary so be careful if you're new to this area. I really wanted to come here and try to french toast options because of all the great reviews, but on a cold spring Sunday morning, I decided on Shaksuka to warm me up. This place is inside a food hall, with "outdoor" seating in the halls corridor, which is very dog-friendly. You can sign up for a table on the yelp waitlist or on a kiosk in-person... we didn't have to wait long when we signed up on the app while walking over. I ordered the Shakshuka with a side of Chicken sausage and my companion ordered the Eggs Benedict, we got mimosas... guava and standard OJ. The guava is on the sweeter side, so if you like a sweet mimosa go with guava. The Shakshuka was warm and touch spicy, perfect for a cool spring morning. Still very disappointing because they literally gave me the same latte I complained about and just changed the cup and added ice. Being on the waitlist isn't an issue. The lines went b really fast and you get seated really quickly and they do check vaccination cards and IDs. My cousin and I stood outside waiting for about 30 minutes before we could get seated. I didn't know prior that you won't be seated unless all parties are there. We wanted to go somewhere nice and this place had good reviews so we decided to give it a try. Waitlist estimated to be 50-70 minutes but I got a text saying that our table was ready within half an hour and tbh, we weren't even too far, about 10 mins away. The parking is garbage cuz it's DTLA. Since our table was ready we thought we'd get out of the car to settle down in our table and order for our other cousin, but their policy is they can't seat us unless all parties are there. We already knew what we wanted to order and this place is very manual meaning you order and pay on your phone and the code you scan is linked to your table, which I guess could be convenient for bigger parties or people who like to split the bill since it's order for their own. Food was okay, and that's being generous. I've had brunch foods and the steak hash I had was mediocre. The vanilla latte was good though! The food is great but the service is awful. Like every other place in LA, you will need your vaccination card to sit inside. Once you're seated, you scan the QR code to place your order. You place your order and pay with the QR code. So basically the waitress is eliminated. All they do is bring your food out. Well while we were there the system went down and none of the waitresses were able to take an order. So basically if their system is down you will have to wait until it comes back up bc none of the waiters can write an order down and send it to the kitchen. Man...this makes me sad. I truly wanted to like them. I was so excited to try the food because a co worker spoke highly of them but the food is so lackluster and one note of underseasoned mush that I really can't give them three stars for attempt. This little gem is hidden in an alley way of businesses, you can either sit outside or inside, you choose your own table, the day we went it was chilly, so I kinda wished we would have sat inside, because of the draft, but I was happy to get these amazing photos with the lights over our heads. The food was good, I got the eggs over medium, and a salad with balsamic dressing, delicious. We had the pressed coffee which came in a cute dispenser which probably provides about 4 cups. The food was very good and Blu Jam has a nice menu serving eggs, chilaquiles, breakfast burritos, French toast and more. Met up with a friend for breakfast - we utilized the waitlist & had to wait about 40 mins I believe. Customer Service/Protocols: Restaurant is only requiring proof of vaccination/ID if eating indoors. There's plenty of "outdoor" seating though - do note that the definition of outdoor is quite different here based on the setup of the restaurant situated inside the arcade building. The hostesses were pleasant. There is currently no wait staff - All ordering and paying is done through their QR code placed at each table. The only thing I don't like about the contactless service is if there's some substitutions or questions I have about the menu it's not as easy to handle that bc there's no wait staff assigned to the tables, outside at least. Food: I ordered the crunchy French toast and the simply eggs meal. The French toast was yum - the cream that comes with it gels well w/ the toast so I was cool w/ not having syrup. We got the Migas breakfast which is a vegetarian egg and soyrizo scramble with a side of potatoes. This was 8/10, really good! We also got the French toast 5/10 only because they didn't have any butter or whip cream and no syrup (which they do mention on the menu). They give a vanilla icing type of syrup which isn't bad but overall it tasted pretty dry. The iced rose matcha latte was 9/10, so divine and the flavors were spot on!! QR code ordering at each individual table is available, or you can go inside and order at the counter. I ordered the Morning Hash, but I subbed the black forest ham out for chicken apple sausage, and I subbed out the mozzarella for cheddar. I also added avocado because it makes everything better! Came at 9:30AM today (8/21/21) and this place was already packed. We were seated almost immediately since they just opened @ 9:00AM. I had high hopes since there were so many people already at that time. First of all, the ambience was really nice. There was a coconut-y flavor in it (probably from the coating) which didn't go well with their sauce or toppings. Blu Jam Benedict - this was the worst benedict we have ever had. There was a tangy/sour after taste that resembles to a spoil food. Not sure if it was the black forest, the bacon or the hollandaise sauce but it was not good. The English muffin was stale and so hard to tear apart. You'll have to really put in so much effort to slice it. Kudos to the poached eggs though as they were perfectly cooked. Other than that, we weren't impressed at all. Latte - I love me a strong coffee as long as they don't taste like dirt. This was okay. It wasn't good but it wasn't so bad. Would I order it again?
