Came here for breakfast over the weekend. One thing to note: you order by scanning the QR code at your table, otherwise no one will come by to take your order. We actually decided to check this place out after reading reviews about the complimentary ginger shots... unfortunately, we didn't get any. As for the food, the Eggs Benedict and breakfast sandwich were both delicious. Our favorite item, though, was the potatoes. They reminded us of crispy hash browns, but made with small roasted potatoes instead. So good! Overall, the food was tasty and worth trying for a weekend breakfast spot.

Stopped for brunch since my husband was working nearby. Service was kind but pretty minimal that day. We were seated and given a nice vase of water. They explained that ordering and payment happen online or up front inside, so it felt a bit self-serve after that. Drinks and food took longer than expected to come out. The portions were generous and satisfying. I went with the Loxex omelet (scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, tomatoes, onions), and the grilled potatoes on the side were spot-on. My husband ordered the chilaquiles, which he found a little too salty and soggier than he prefers. His cappuccino however, was very delicious. The menu has tons of appealing options, so it's definitely worth checking out if you're in the mood for creative brunch dishes.

I'm going to be honest. When I first walked into Blu Jam Cafe in Downtown LA, I was already judging the place. I don't know what it was, but I just wasn't feeling it at all. I honestly thought this spot was going to be mid and probably another overrated DTLA brunch place. But the second the food hit the table. Everything changed. I ordered a burger, salad, French toast, and an Arnold Palmer. The burger was cool. Nothing bad, but nothing amazing either. Just decent. The salad was good too. BUT THAT ARNOLD PALMER?!?!?! 10/10. Legit probably the best Arnold Palmer I've ever had in my life. Super Bomb! And the French Toast?!?!?! BRO... WTF. Easily the best French toast I've ever had and probably some of the best in all of Los Angeles, not just Downtown LA. That French toast literally saved this place from getting 3-4 stars from me. I'm dead serious when I say I'll come back just for that alone. Overall, I ended up leaving really impressed. Glad I gave this place a chance. 100% recommended.

I had a wonderful experience at Blu Jam Cafe. The food was absolutely delicious! I had the Vegan Tostada. The tostada was full of flavor and seasoned to perfection. The tofu tostada was very crispy and crunchy which was delicious! The potatoes were also cooked perfectly. My son had the hangover scramble, sourdough toast and Blueberry Jam. He enjoyed his food also. He wanted a container of the Blueberry Jam to take home. We also ordered a Mimosa, Matcha Latte and a regular Latte. They were all delicious. I love the large mugs they put the hot drinks in. The service was good. You have to order from a QR code at your table. The food came out pretty quick. This location is located between Broadway and Spring Street. You can enter on either street. They have outside and inside seating available. I can't wait to visit this location again.

We LOVED our breakfast so much we came back for both mornings of our LA visit. The food is fresh, interesting and delicious!! French toast, breakfast sandwiches and potatoes were fantastic. Lattes were on point too. Highly recommend!! - Three girls from Idaho

Went for brunch before it started getting really busy. Really great place because it's in this indoor alley that has different restaurants and coffee shops. We sat outside and I really enjoyed it because you get this kind of indoor outdoor feel. I got the Tuscany Scramble and wow it was really delicious. If you like pesto, you would love this a lot, I didnt know what to expect because I had nothing like this before, but the description was accurate. I was torn on either the tuscany scramble and the chilaquiles, but i really enjoyed my meal. I would totally go here again to get the chilaquiles or something that catches my eye.

This is a nice, cozy spot in DTLA with a welcoming atmosphere. We ordered multiple dishes, and everything we tried was good lots of flavor and great variety to choose from. The only downside was the wait time, which was a bit longer than expected. However, the overall experience was still enjoyable, especially because of the wide selection of dishes available. I'd definitely come back to try more from the menu.

Look how presentable the plates are! The food was good, but not great. I'd say the quality was just better than average! The menu is expansive though, and I'd be curious to return and try other plates/drinks. They have sangria, and I definitely want to try it next time. The service however, was so great! All the staff were quick, attentive, and friendly. They didn't rush us out or anything, either. Lastly, I did enjoy the location. There is an outdoor patio that is in a hallway of various businesses; it's covered/shaded, and yet still outside. Overall, it's a decent brunch in the middle of Downtown LA!

This neat little cafe is tucked in a food hall-ish area that looked like it could've been a train station of sorts back in the day. We came here on a Thursday around 12pm and it wasn't too busy. There's paid parking lots across the street, but it's in DTLA, so the area feels a little urban. We were met with wonderful service from the moment we entered. They have some seating inside and outside, but it's a lot cooler inside their restaurant than the "patio" area. Also, there's no restroom at this place. You have to ask for a ticket and go over to the security guard who will unlock the doors to the publicly shared restroom for you. Anyways, we got the breakfast carbonara and chilaquiles. I liked that they offered us an amuse bouche of a berry crepe. The crepe was really good and probably was the star of our whole meal. The breakfast carb was more of a risotto/mushy fried rice with peas, eggs, and pancetta. It tasted alright, but we couldn't help thinking about similar it was to fried rice. The chilaquiles was alright. The chips were on the thinner side, which caused them to get super soggy really fast with the watery sauce. While the flavors were there, the texture was not. This spot is more of an order at the front and pay at the front kind of place. Overall, great service, decent food.

We tried blu jam because of the reviews and proximity to our hotel. We stopped in for breakfast which was great. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant does not have servers but a hostess and then bussers/food runners. You can either order from your phone through a QR code or at the front station which I thought was interesting. We ordered a fresh squeezed oj which was delicious and definitely freshly squeezed. The iced latte had a great strong flavor. The only complaint is I drank it too fast. The breakfast sandwich had a perfect crisp to the bread. The egg was cooked spot on to medium so had a slight yolk dripping. The bacon was very crispy and overall it was an incredible breakfast sandwich. The crunchy French toast is breaded with a ground up cornflake. It was very crispy and came topped with fresh berries and two sides of a delicious vanilla sauce. We had a great breakfast and would recommend this spot to anyone.

Extensive menu The food here was good, nothing mind-blowing but enjoyable overall. I liked that they give you the option to self-order through your phone or go the traditional route with a server -- that was convenient. The menu is huge though. Honestly a little overwhelming with so many items to read through, it made it hard to decide what to get. I didn't love sitting inside. There's no A/C and with the open kitchen so close, it gets pretty hot and uncomfortable. If you can, I'd recommend waiting for outdoor seating -- much more comfortable. Overall, the food was good and the ordering options were solid, but I'd stick to sitting outside next time.

Eggs benedict is great here! We also really enjoy their french toast and it's plentiful to share with table. Service is attentive and the restaurant is nice and lively. A nice place to grab brunch and catch up.

    House French toast!

Had such an amazing experience here!! Treated like royalty! Food quality was spectacular the coffee was the best I ever had and the chilaquiles were soo good! Would definitely recommend and will be coming back!

Namely because these are generally pretty straightforward brunch dishes, but they were just so much better here than other places I've had them. I don't know what the secret is for the benedict popover - is it something they put in the benedict sauce? The way the ingredients come together? Whatever it is, it's perfect. For the bacon steak - it cut like butter, and wasn't too salty, sweet, or chewy / thick. So good! I had the Baby Albacore and Hokkaido Scallop as appetizers and they were delish. I leaned a bit more towards the Albacore over the scallop, but both great. I also had the Sour Milk Cornbread which was magical and tasted like a cross between cornbread meets bundt cake. The flavor was perfect and was one of the best cornbread I have ever had. The pork chop was immaculate. I have yet to taste a pork chop that was so perfectly cooked from the moistness and the flavor. For dessert, the cobbler was ordered and goodness gracious it was absolutely amazing. If you come here, have all the courses, do not miss any course what so ever.

Made another and was not even remotely disappointed. This was one of my recent favorite meals by far and dunno if I was just starving or what cause it was all hits and no misses. Our server was very sweet and friendly, as were most of the staff here. The inside is cozy, casual, and comfortable with lots of wood and plants. We ordered SO much food, mainly to try more things, and also because my eyes are perpetually bigger than my stomach. That's fine though! Even the leftovers were delicious as heck. - Cornbread--absolutely smothered in butter and honey, crispy on the outside and very moist on the inside with great jalapeño flavor. Saw some lady on social media say this was gross and dry... surely that was rage bait? - Bread--got both the jam and butter which were both amazing as it came with two types of warm bread that was perfectly crusty and soft. However, given the amount of butter overall in this meal, it wouldn't be a loss to skip. - Peaches--came with farmer's cheese, which is like a creamy, drier version of cottage cheese, that paired really well with the sweet juicy peaches, basil, and fresh lemon dressing. Summer on a plate. - Carolina gold rice--never had this dish before, it's like shrimp n grits met porridge, rich snd hearty with plenty of shrimp flavor from the shrimp butter. - Mushroom-crusted pork chop--easily usurped my previous favorite pork chop from Chez Maggy in Denver, and is now my favorite pork chop :) - Ribeye with bone marrow--also one of the best steaks from a restaurant we've had. My husband's gotten to the point where he doesn't like ordering steaks (usually I'm the offender) because they're usually not very good even from "steakhouses", but this ribeye was great. Perfect crust, perfect med-rare cook, lots of flavor, tender and delicious. Bonus was the bone marrow I saved half of for my spoiled dog. - Sticky date pudding--I think I confused this with a sticky toffee pudding although it's very similar and equally tasty as heck. Don't skip this! Typically I have to be borderline blackmailed into eating all my leftovers but there was no arm-twisting for Dunsmoor's. Street parking unless you valet. There's a line by opening for walk-ins, and apparently a separate line for reservations on the other side of the door.

My mom ordered a biscuit. The server asked whether she wanted butter, and she also requested jam. There was no mention that either would cost extra, yet the bill included $1.50 for butter and $1.25 for jam. I ordered the double cheeseburger and asked for a slice of tomato. That added another $1.50. Then, on top of everything else, every table is charged a 3% "Happy + Healthy" surcharge. I expected to pay extra for oat milk in my chai because it was clearly listed on the menu and that's become fairly standard. The "Happy + Healthy" surcharge was also listed on the menu. The butter, jam, and tomato were another story. Those charges weren't disclosed when we ordered and felt like an unpleasant surprise at the end of a mediocre meal. Unfortunately, the food didn't justify the nickel-and-diming. The "crispy" breakfast potatoes arrived whole, not cut into pieces, and were firmer than crispy. The chai had an odd aftertaste. The burger was overly salty, and the biscuit tasted like it had been sitting around since the day before. It certainly wasn't warm or fresh from the oven. The cleanliness was also disappointing. The seat cushion where my mom was supposed to sit was visibly dirty. When we pointed it out, our server explained that guests sometimes bring dogs or put their feet on the cushions and that they try to clean them weekly. Weekly isn't enough. We were the first customers of the morning and the only people there when we arrived, so it would have been easy to seat us somewhere clean. To be fair, the courtyard is beautiful, and the staff was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. Those positives, however, couldn't overcome lousy food, surprise charges, and cleanliness issues. We won't be back.

The food was wonderful - we loved the steak the ceaser salad dressing was amazing but the fish item - the Nagril item was too deep fried and instead of sending it back - we were starving after our 1 hour and 45 minutes for it to arrive. in the end we did what FERNANDO asked us to - write a review - but in LA : We leave places like this and while smart dishes like 'The Parkway' or a 'Knuckle Sandwich' are ready to be presented - we would have cashed out asap if we had known that the non-action in the kitchen was a thing. The Chef might have been from New York - but he was no where to be found - much like his kitchen staff staring back into the dining room - with. their. mouths. open. Give this place time. They are creating unnecessary obstacles and dont have enough staff to justify the dead silence for the hours you will wait to receive anything - nothing is bussed - nothing is cleaned and nothing will be addressed during the times you could easily leave without paying for the bill. We will be back but will need to plan for a small meal before as this spot cannot handle the high demands of a very very very small seating footprint.

Unfortunately, we left feeling more disappointed than impressed. To start on a positive note, we were seated on time, and all four of our cocktails were well-made and enjoyable. Unfortunately, that's where the positives mostly ended. Our overall dining experience lasted over 2.5 hours, which was simply excessive. We were seated outside, and for most of the evening we appeared to be the only table outside being served. Despite that, everything moved at an incredibly slow pace. Several items we ordered were either never entered or never brought out, which only added to the frustration. For appetizers, the Caesar Brûlée was the biggest disappointment. It honestly tasted spoiled and had an unpleasant aftertaste that made it difficult to enjoy. The Curry Corn "Ribs" had a nice flavor, and the Lemon Pepper Brussels Sprouts were easily the favorite dish of the night. The $23 bread basket, consisting of two fish-shaped pieces of cornbread and four small pieces of focaccia, felt very overpriced for what was served. For our entrees, we ordered the For Goodness Steak and the Bama Smoke smoked chicken. The steak itself was cooked to the requested temperature and had good flavor, but it arrived only lukewarm, which took away from the experience. The smoked chicken breast was tender but lacked seasoning, and the Alabama white sauce wasn't what we'd expect from authentic Southern-style Bama sauce. We were also excited to try the restaurant's famous oxtail pot pie, but unfortunately it had already sold out by the time we arrived. What made the evening even more disappointing was the lack of hospitality. When we expressed our frustration about the long waits, we were told they were busy inside--as if sitting outside somehow explained or justified the delays. Had we been informed that outside service would be significantly slower, we could have made an informed decision or at least adjusted our expectations. Even more surprising, during a meal that lasted over two and a half hours, not one manager or member of leadership stopped by to apologize, check on our experience, or acknowledge the obvious service issues. Overall, the food was average at best, with a couple of standout appetizers, but nothing that justified the lengthy wait or made us eager to return. Service and hospitality are just as important as the food, and unfortunately both fell well short of expectations. Based on this experience, it's highly unlikely that we'll be back.
