We have a ton of places like this in LA so it's usually not as expensive but there's not a ton of great salad places around here so if I'm looking to splurge I'll come here. I like this location and they always are courteous. They treated me well when I picked up food. The only problem is that they tend to screwed up my orders. I often asked for Romain lettuce. Not romaine mix but as usual...they made mistakes. It's not just once or twice. It's like every time I ordered by phone. Oh and by the way... they will over charged you on things like boiled egg. One egg will cost you three dollars. A small amount of steaks is seven dollars. Two freakin salad cost me almost 50 bucks! The sandwich was good in size if you want to split it for 2 people. The salad was boxed to go and upon opening it I was a bit disappointed as I didn't see and toppings on it. Half way through the salad I found all the toppings! You should definitely shake the salad to give everything a good mix. The salad did have great flavor! The tuna was just "enough" spicy! Why didn't I rate this 5 stars? THE WAIT TIME. While they do have a sign posted to be patient as they are short staffed, they initially said 20 minutes - 40 minutes later I had to ask if the food was done and they said they were still working on it. Love love love this spot. I was so happy when they finally reopened which was a month or two ago! I got a Spicy Tuna Salad since I've been craving for some tuna and their tuna is soooooo gooooood. The portions are amazing, and the dressing, seriously, can y'all please start selling them in bottles. They're so good! I went in yesterday and noticed after I had already ordered that some of the kitchen staff (who were literally handling the food) were not wearing gloves. With the spike in health awareness and sanitary precautions due to the spread of COVID, I gently asked one of the staff members if the kitchen staff were wearing gloves which she promptly responded "yes" to, even though they weren't. As I waited the usual 20 minutes for my $27 salad, I saw her turn to the kitchen staff and say "She asked if you wear wearing gloves and I saw you weren't - I gotchu." I mean I'm just trying to avoid getting sick - but like also... I worked in catering for years and know the importance of wearing gloves when working in the kitchen. This means they aren't wearing gloves regardless of what viruses are circulating. Their salads are pretty good. Our son especially loves the Fattoush salad. He'll gobble down two in a row! The sandwiches are good as well. One complaint is the salad dressing... it's tasty for sure, but I asked what kind of oils they use and they told me a mix of extra virgin olive oil and canola oil. With the growing awareness of chemically extracted oils and the danger to health, we try to avoid any oil not mechanically extracted. Updating my review - Blue Barn has officially become offensive. I was OK spending $17 on a salad once a week. It's insane but I convinced myself it was acceptable because of the quality of ingredients, as well as the massive portion you get. However, recentlt Blue Barn has changed their quality of food without adjusting their pricing...and it's honestly just plain offensive. They've changed their greens mixture normally put in their Cobber Salad to a dried up "bagged salad" tasting mix. It's awful. They've changed up the chicken too. It used to be chunks of freshly tasting grilled or baked chicken. Now it's this pre-packaged sliced deli chicken cut up into pieces. Weird. Also, they've vetoed the avocado. Yes, that's right, no avocado. You can't withhold one of the key ingredients in a Cobb salad and still sell it for $17?! Now I have to pay $19 to add in a 1/4 of an avocado. Unbelievable. Awful. Seriously shame on you for continuously screwing over your customers. As your 1-2x a week customers and neighbors, We won't be returning. read more

Well Blue Barn, I am a fan. I stopped by this location recently for the first time and had an awesome experience. There was no line when I arrived and the girl who took my order was friendly. My friend and I decided to sit at a table out back and I'm so glad we did because the patio is ADORABLE. Twinkly lights and barn decor makes the vibe in back of Blue Barn super charming and fun. Also, there were numerous patio heaters running that kept the temperature perfect while we ate! On to the food - it was delicious! I tried the Kale Caesar with a grains substitution. It was super hearty and tasty. The additional cost of chicken originally seemed high but I received a pretty large portion so I ended up being ok with it. My friend built her own salad and said hers was good as well! While I do wish the prices were a bit lower at Blue Barn, I love the food and atmosphere and will continue to visit when my bank account will allow it! read more

Kind of torn with this review. Blue Barn has one of my favorite salads of all time. It's been a hot minute since the last time I ate here, but I was recently in Cow Hollow and wanted to grab my favorite- the Beets and Greens. I put in my order online and saw that my favorite salad was taken off the menu. Such a travesty! I decided to get a u-pick salad to recreate a salad similar to the Beets and Greens. While my salad was still good, it was missing some of the salad fixings that I had checked off on my online order. I think you're allowed to pick up to 5-6 components to add to your salad (e.g., goat cheese, beets, pecans), but I was missing two out of the five. The printed receipt attached to my to-go order was correct, so somehow they just didn't add all my fixings. Not the end of the world, but kinda annoying since my meal was close to $20. read more

Blue barn is a neighborhood favorite and now they have an even bigger location with more room to sit and eat. The salads are so delicious- all super fresh with quality ingredients. I have never been disappointed and I eat the food frequently (sometimes more than I'd like to admit!) My favorite salads are the beets and greens and the arugula salad. I usually get chicken or steak on top. They are a bit pricey but are big enough that I can eat it for lunch and dinner if I'm not super starving. The quality also makes it worth the dough. As much as I'd love to hate on a $20 salad, this place is a staple for me when I'm craving a salad. While it's expensive for a salad, you could easily get two meals out of it if you have the self control which makes the cost a little easier to swallow. One thing that's annoying is there are two types of chicken you can add to your salad :rooster chicken or chopped chicken. No brainer choose the rooster since it's marinated and grilled while the chopped is plain and boiled (and not good tbh). Of course rooster chicken comes with a price and is more expensive. read more

We would happy we pay six cents for a fork. Since they already tagged us with The $.10 per bag plus involuntarily charging us a 5% fee for "San Francisco business costs." If you're going to nickel and dime your customers, at least give them a free fork. read more

Adding to the chorus of dissatisfaction I can tell you that customer service is atrocious. The staff seemed fully stoned which explains their nonchalant attitude to service. Hopefully they hear enough feedback that they address this. 5 stars for food. My Raging Cajun sandwich had super flavorful garlicky sauce, wonderful spice and great fresh crunchy bread. -1 star for the surcharge for orders over $100. Why? This was never properly explained to me. -1 star for not deducting the surcharge when we paid for food separately, negating the over-$100 surcharge. Again, terrible customer service. -1 star for letting our to-go order sit in a bag for 10 minutes. We had stood around waiting for our to-go order without any notification it was ready. I finally had to go up to the counter and ask 'Is that for [my name who called in this order 30 mins ago]??? The guy behind the counter said yes, no apology or anything.
