This vibrant culinary tapestry weaves together indigenous ingredients, European techniques, African traditions, and Asian influences to create some of the world's most exciting and diverse food experiences. For over the past two decades, these chefs have elevated traditional ingredients and techniques to new heights. We've passed this restaurant many times on a busy River Road in Fair Lawn and decided to stop in. Upon entering this warm and cozy interior without a reservation as first-timers, my partner and I managed to locate a table outside on this summer-like day. Juany's Cafe is a cozy, family-run establishment making a great impression as a place for brunch on locals and visitors. The owner is Peruvian, and the Mexican cook began in the kitchens of his homeland, known for its authentic Latin-inspired cuisine. We decided on the Latin bowl with marinated steak accompanied by black beans, sautéed veggies, avocado, and sweet plantains & Grilled Chicken Burritos with Sweet Potato Fries. Complimentary fruit salad started our meal. All ingredients were fresh, and the seasonings were unique with their bold flavors. There was a wait time for food as everything was homemade, made to order, and well presented. The prices were more than reasonable considering the quality of the food. Our server was friendly and accommodating. The service was a bit slow due to a large party group. Brunch is the norm here, but we can't wait to try it out for dinner.

Their food is always good. They have plenty of options, especially for omelets, and the kitchen is in plain site, where you could see the magic being prepared. Every entree that we ordered was presented at the right temperature and you could taste the freshness in their ingredients. I am happy to be a frequent customer of Fisher's Café and recommend everyone to do the same.

Surprisingly, the diner was not busy (maybe half full) on a Saturday at around lunchtime. I found this somewhat odd. The restaurant is basically the diner counter and then a line of booths along the wall, so there is not too much seating overall. I would imagine it could get filled up very quickly. The food was very good overall: - Chicken parmesan sandwich was huge and well-crafted. - The eggs blackstone was very tasty - the hollandaise melded surprisingly well with the avocado and egg. I would imagine that the California benedict (the version with bacon) would taste very good as well. - Kids loved the pancakes, especially the chocolate ones.

Not on the menu. The Jeff omelette. Egg whites, chicken, chorizo, black beans, Pico de Gallo and avocados. Heaven on a dish.

This place is popping, and for good reason. The servers are quite attentive and always present so it's not hard to flag someone down if you need something. I noticed they were also quick to clear trash (like straw wrappers) from the tables frequently. The food is also really good - i recommend the k-chicken & waffles and the lemon ricotta pancakes w blueberry compote. They also have lots of fun drinks (both coffee/tea-based and fruity refreshers). Parking might be a bit difficult but if you're lucky you might find an open spot on the street right outside. Otherwise, there's a lot nearby as well.

We had several servers handling our order. To start, I had a hot tea with honey. The honey was an interesting consistency and was not as thick as expected. Seemed to be a little watery but the taste was good when mixed in my tea. For appetizer, we split the Crispy Ddukbokki which were sweet & spicy crispy rice cakes with a side of a soft boiled egg, topped with everything seasoning. We both really enjoyed the flavor of these rice cakes. For my main course, I had the Rainbow Salad with grilled chicken. The portion was very good and all of the veggies in the salad were super fresh. The presentation was very pretty. Parking can be a bit tricky but luckily we were able to find parking on one of the side streets. Overall a cute little breakfast/brunch place in the Glen Rock downtown. It does get very busy on weekends so reservations are a must.

We ask if they have outdoor seating and they tell us they do, then they proceed to seat us in an area with windows and ceiling! And right next to a large and very loud Bridal shower (that would have been nice to know, we would have asked to be seated as far away as humanly possible.) Then we sit for 30 solid minutes without a peep from ANYONE. Then suddenly a confused looking young lady steps up and informs us "no one told her we were here." Guess that's OUR problem? Placed a drink order and another 20 minutes passes when I am informed it is no longer on tap. Drinks finally arrive, the "Craftsman IPA" is flat and "off" tasting. White wine was warm as if it was sitting in the sun. Food was not much better sadly. The Calamari was flavorless and tough - apparently someone forgot the Asian drizzle that was supposed to go on it. It was also that "fake" calamari where every piece is exactly the same size and shape. The "stuffed" meatballs were stuffed - with air! Literally nothing but a hole in the middle. The artichoke and crab dip had a strong fishy taste, it was so bad I feared it was tainted. To their credit they took it off the bill, eventually. And from the moment our drinks arrived earlier,, our server never once checked back on us for another drink, do we need anything, how is everything etc. Hey Craftsman - do better! Maybe some training in the kitchen and out on the floor is in order.

I had that "Jersey Meat" (Taylor ham or pork roll, whatever you call it) egg and cheese but I'm happy I listened to the owner here and also got the Chopped Cheese. This breakfast sandwich was stellar but the Chopped Cheese was very possibly the best one I've ever had. The Jersey meat had a hard sear to it, which I love. Plenty of meat, cheese, and eggs on a fresh hard (Kaiser) roll. I got it with just pepper. Jersey meat is salty enough on its own and I typically don't rock ketchup with eggs. This would have been awesome with a splash of hot sauce though. Great sandwich. The chopped cheese was the hero here though. This was on a fresh jersey long roll and the seasoning in the meat was fantastic. Best seasoned ground beef I've probably ever had for a chopped cheese. Plenty of cheese, the roll, and the toppings were all very complimentary. The sauce is great on this as well. I got that extra drizzle overtop and I'm pumped I did. I had a side of it as well and trust me, I used it. Do not pass on this sandwich if you come here. The owner here is awesome, the food is great, plenty of parking on the streets around the business in a residential area, and the price is right. Salt Pepper Ketchup - Didn't Suck!

Home fries were right on point too. + Big Daddy Breakfast - Over easy medium eggs were cooked perfectly and laid on top of a delicious steak. Pancakes were OMG sooooo good - fluffy, thick and delicious. Most diner pancakes are blah. NOT HERE. Possibly the best regular run of your mill diner pancakes I've ever had. Yes, I said it. THE SERVICE ------------------- + Exemplary is all I can say. Our waitress was phenomenal and another gentleman who was working the tables (and was Colombian) was hilarious and as friendly as can be. They definitely made our morning and made our experience that much more enjoyable. THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------- + OK, so no one is going to mistake the digs here for being a 5 star restaurant. Yes, it's old, dingy, a bit rundown and we felt like we could sink onto the floor in the booth seats, but they shouldn't change a thing. They aren't trying to impress you with the exterior or interior. The food and "homey" service is what matters here and they both shine! + Private parking lot outside directly in front and to the side. It's not huge, but has a good amount of spots. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Visited at around 8:45 AM on a Monday morning and it was as quiet as can be .... and we loved it. There was only 1 other gentleman dining in, however, I can imagine weekends are probably quite different. CONCLUSION -------------------- = Benny's is as local as it gets. It's totally unassuming and a pretty small diner. It's no Tops, but you'll definitely feel the love here, especially in your belly. The food was very good for typical breakfast foods, but, what really made our meal great was the unbelievably friendly service and interactions we had with their staff.
